Best wagon owned
I have owned this fantastic car for just over a year now and just love it! I have a family of 4 and have taken several long vacations in this car and there was plenty of cargo room and comfortable seating for everyone. I have had no problems with this car at all. I was a little disappointed in the gas mileage, sticker said 28 mpg and I'm getting about 22 or 23 mpg. Overall I'm very impressed with this car.
Re-review after several years
Unhappy originally due to build quality and still annoyed by intermittent rattles in dash. Also thought the ride was too harsh; replaced the original Michelins (lasted only 33k miles!) with Hankooks and it was like getting a new car...still handles well but doesn't jar your teeth loose on every pothole. About 58K miles now and have done front brakes, tires, a battery and oil changes every 3k and this thing just runs like a champ. Still looks good and since they're not going to offer the new 6 in a wagon, I'm going to hang onto this thing - nothing else out there tempts me yet. First car I've had that I like more as time goes on. Normally by now I'd be itching to trade.

Reliable and Worth the Cost
This has been an excellent and fun car to own.
Zoom, zoom, zoom!
This car is by far one of the better ones I've owned & it is by far the most fun to drive. I've been a Honda owner many times, but this car has changed my thinking. I love the heated leather seats, steering controls, & best of all, the sport shift stick. The hatch on the wagon is easy to open and close, hard to say about most vehicles (I'm only 5'3" tall). This car is really a headturner & people are always asking me what it is and commenting on the sporty styling. It is easy to get my son in/out of the car & the hatch makes it so easy to load groceries, strollers, etc. If you're in the market for a smaller SUV and want something that gets good gas mileage, here's your best bet.
Mazda 6 Wagon Manual
Bought the 6 wagon after looking at the Subaru forester xt and the Legacy GT wagon, and a used a4 avant. The 6 was by far the best value, I could not make my self spend another $7000 for the Subie.... So far the car has been exceptional. Handels supurbly, acceleration is great fuel economy is actually really pretty good, depending on how you drive of course. Stlye was the best out of the cars I was looking at and comfort fit and finish are also sweet. I got the most basic 6 wagon you can get, manual with no other options and could not be happier.
