After threebyears leading we turned the Sorrento in at leade end. The vihicle did everythingvwe expected it to do. And, quite efficiently. However: some issues cropped up: 1. Returning tye car was a nightmare. The dealer did not want it back. They tried multiple ‘tricks’ to avoid taking it, including; a. Pretenfing the employee who takes returns ‘was not in...’; pretending the emplyee was on an extended vacation; b. pretending that you can return you car to ANY dealer, ‘please take it someplace else;’ c. actually winning on the phone that they don’t want to do the lease return ‘because there is no money innit for them.’ Granted, this was Hanlee’s Kia in Davis California. We even wanted to replace it with a newer more efficient model, so what did they do as dealers for returning liyal customers??? Offered a Kia Niro Plug In Hybrid to us for...drum roll...$4,500 OVER MSRP! We went to a separate dealer to buy that Niro and ver glad we did...saved $7,500! Then, I got a letter the other day warning me that if I dont return this vihicle immediately, Kia would dispatch Kim Jun Ng and the North Korean Nuclear brigade to retrieve it! Well, not exactly, but they threatened all sorts of damage to my credit history and used curt language, and moddst threats. Good thing I kept all the Kia paperwork because I vould prove it was returned, but in the end it turns out I ended up doing THEIR administrstive book keeping and paperwork. Great vehicle, but weak infrastructure with obnoxious, money-grubbing personnel.

At approximately 125000 km's coolant started to mix with oil. Head gasket blew. The car was meticulously maintained and received ALL needed services on time. Took it to Kia dealership where after charging me $200 for diagnostic they confirmed my concern and did not provide any details as far as how they determined the issue. Instead they avoided my phone calls, and when eventually I was able to speak to the manager, he said he would call back and never did. But, they were quick enough to give me A $12000 ESTIMATE TO FIX THE PROBLEM. Took it to another shop who is currently taking care of the problem. Today received a phone call from my mechanic who told me that he had exactly the same vehicle as mine come in with the exact same issue.... Now, once is an accident, two vehicles with the same issue after they hit 100000kms doesn't look like coincidence to me. Further search on the internet revealed that there are quite few people who had the same issue and KIA didn't help. Will never buy KIA again. Since my last post, had to replace throttle body and now EPB actuator broke, leaving my brakes locked. It appears that kia used plastic gears inside the actuator motor. (WHAT?!?) New part is $950 plus labour. Tried to remove the actuator myself, buy they placed it behind the sub frame, with bolts facing up, and making it extremely difficult to access Another update. Less than a month ago had issues with EPB and now my AWD actuator broke.... UNREAL!!! IF YOU ARE LOOKING TO BUY A KIA, READ THIS AND STEER AWAY FROM THIS BRAND. Consider this - If you finance KIA, you will pay tons in interest, then you lose tons of money as it is one of the worst brands to hold its value. Plus reliability factor. Loan Interest+huge depreciation+poor reliability (6000k out of pocket in my case)... You do the math.

Hands down, the most comfortable, quiet, refined ride of any car I have ever driven. The styling is great, the car just sounds solid when closing the doors, and the thought Kia put into the design shows throughout. We went with the top model and the extras that brings makes long trips really enjoyable. I have driven Sorentos as rental cars over the past 7-8 years but vowed I'd never own one due the the fairly harsh ride. But the 2016 is a true game changer!! It's the first time my wife has ever said "I love this car"! Me too!

3 Miles on Odometer

I started looking for cross over SUVs with the AWD, and a third row. I used to drive a 1996 Honda Accord LX (Manual transmission) I really wanted a Hyundai Vera Cruz but they stopped making the vehicle in 2012. Then I thought about the Mazda 5 (manual transmission) but it looked like mini-van car. I ended up focusing on the Santa Fe and Mazda CX9. I got a consumer report magazine and added the Outlander and Sorento to my research radar. In concert with a good friend I test drove all vehicles 3 months before I purchased. My friend road in the back while I test drove and used a check sheet to document wind noise and backseat comfort ability etc. By the end of the day I narrowed it down to the Mazda and the KIA. I purchased a 2016 LX Sorento with 3 miles on the odometer. The ride is smooth, I feel like I am riding in luxury without paying the price. The vehicle is not too big and able to do all the things I need it to do. Cargo room is great; however not when the third row is in use. I only have two issues the Bluetooth tends to spike in volume when a call comes in and that can be startling EVERY time and I never feel completely confident when parallel parking. I feel as if visibility is limited. I am overly satisfied with my purchase and the price. I may consider upgrading to EX in a few years. ******Update***** Its been nearly two years and I am still very pleased with my vehicle. I have a little over 10k on the odometer and it is in tip top shape. I have no complaints and highly recommend this vehicle to those who are looking for more bang for their buck. I am exponentially pleased. ********Update********** Its been nearly three years and I really can't complain. I did have an issue but it was resolved please see below: I had my vehicle serviced in December 2017. I had to return to Yonkers Kia dealership in January of 2018 because of a check engine light and dash error message appeared. I was told that because the error did not appear when they checked the vehicle nothing was wrong. I was instructed to take a photo of the error message and return if the light came back on again. HUH? February 2018 it happens all over again, except this time I take a picture and return to the dealership. I make an appointment on the Wednesday before the Saturday. I even write in what issue I have with the vehicle using their appointment tool. I arrive for Saturday 8:15 a.m. appointment and I am told that Saturdays are reserved for service appointments and there are no technicians available to check my engine. So between Wednesday and Friday no one called to tell me that I would have to bring my car in on a weekday. I decide at that point to not return to Yonkers Kia who did not make it known that Saturday service appointments are reserved for routine maintenance i.e. oil changes. I end up taking my vehicle to the dealer it was purchased from and lo & behold there was a December recall on the engine cap and guess what Yonkers Kia put as if the work was done but it had not been completed. The original dealership had to eat the costs.

Traded a 2013 Sorento 4 cylinder in for the 2016 Sorento V6 Ex premium pkg. Absolutely love the redesign. Extremely quiet, plenty of power, very comfortable. Also own a 2011 Optima EX with the prem/tech pkg and absolutely love it. No problems or complaints with either vehicle. Actually loved the 2013 Sorento but needed the V6 for towing. Plan to continue buying Kia's.
