The Right One
Our family was looking for the right SUV for our budget. We wanted a 3 row but more stylish. It had to have all the technologies. Our SXL has it all. If you can afford it get it with the ventilation seats which comes standard in the SXL. It comes in handy on long road trips and when it's hot out. Also the memory seats are a help( I'm 6-2 my wife is 5-1). I gave it 4 stars because it could use more power and it dosen't have the greatest gas mileage, but it has everything we wanted and more.

Great Vehicle
Bought a 2016 Kia Sorento EX turbo used with 38,000 miles on it.Loaded to the gills. Not a lick of problems with it. Fit and finish is top notch. The 2.0 turbo has more than enough power to do what I want it too. City average of 26 mpg hwy 29 mpg ( Canadian gallons ) Pretty good for a 3700 lb vehicle in my books

watch out if your mileage gets too high
I had the kia sorento for few years. At first it seemed ok and not a lot of problems. I drive a lot. At around 100K I started having transmission problems. It would kick if I suddenly I had to slam on the brakes. Then came fuel injectors leaking and front suspensions started to make a lot of noise. At 180K dealer said the head bolts are pulling and It needs a new engine. So, get ride of the car if you have too many miles on it.

2016 Kia Sorento Burning Oil
My 2016 Kia Sorento is now 5 years old, and just the last couple of months my car has been burning oil. I have 118,000 miles bought it to the dealership twice now first they said it was the top of the engine, the second time it was the bottom of the engine. And after that I shouldn’t have the issue anymore. Well that’s a lie now it’s burning oil even faster. There is no leaks the oil just burning plus I don’t really go many places but having to check my oil every time before I do leave. The car has been good up until now. Oh and when the oil is low the car do nut warn you.
Catastrophic engine failure due to poor design
We bought a 2016 kia sorento from a Kia dealer in Nashville. It currently has 85k miles. The issue started when the temp gauge showed an increased temp. We found that the coolant level was down about 3/4 gallon. We have no leaks, so where is the coolant going? The engine head bolts stripped out of the engine block and not the head bolts lose their required torque and coolant is leaking into the engine. Clearly this is an engineering failure on Kia's part. I'm the second owner and Kia made it very clear that our car was no longer under warranty by Kia because I'm the second owner. It's nice to see that Kia is willing to stick it to a first time Kia owner.

It has been all problematic
I bought a sorento GDI for my wife and she never felt happy with that. The car has developed all sorts of difficulties . Radio, shock absorber, heating n cooling distribution , etc, are just to name a few . Kia agent in my country is almost indifferent to this issue and keeps saying “ yes, Kia cars do have such difficulties”! I would not go for this brand again.

No Support from Kia Corporate
In the beginning car was as expected. Small things started happening after 20k miles; drivers seat material came unfastened, rear hatch shocks would not lift, A/C would not function properly, sunroof would not close. Most items were addressed by dealer, however sunroof is still an issue and A/C still has issues. The MAJOR issue has been with the paint...pearl white paint at a little over 60k miles is failing all over the roof area, coming off in large chunks! Kia Corporate stands by 3 year paint warranty despite numerous complaints online. Body shops have quoted $2,500+ to repaint! Car was meticulously maintained and paint was well taken care of. Would never buy another...especially with zero support on what should be a manufacture's paint recall.

Beautiful but engine not!
I still think they are beautiful vehicles, however I will never purchase another one. When issues like the one I had doesn’t get noticed, but find people all over the states having the same issue. You don’t do anything about it but want us to put an addition 6-10,000$ into it. Don't get me wrong this vehicle is beautiful, that's what caught my eye. Then driving it, amazing. Very comfortable on short and long trips. Now it's just a lawn ornament. I've owned it for a year and a half, however, I had to quit driving it before the one year anniversary. Just a little over 100,000 miles and I noticed no hot air coming out. Had my partner look at it and it started blowing coolant out the over flow tank. Changed thermostat, not it. The engine light never came on nor did the gauge show it was hot. Now I can't drive it. This is ridiculous nothing to do but find a motor, and who has the $$ to pay for that.

Great soccer mom car, with quirks
I actually bout two Kia’s simultaneously, a car, and the midsize. I’ve sold the car… shocking even myself. I love this midsize. Albeit ONE thing that is actually Kia wide. I’ve owned ford Subaru Chrysler etc, never once have I “hated” the soace between the mid console and the seating more (or at all) than I do with Kia. (Car was the same way).i may be klutzy. I may “do” too much in my car, good, that means I can knit pick a car for a unique review. To have to get out of the car, go through the back seat, and tap around for the pen, or the card, or the whatever, is almost enough to say… liked Kia…. Can’t deal with that issue. I can’t find a pocket that fits well, there. So I’m a year and a half into love, hate, love, hate. I am a super busy person, like most. Constantly “doing” at stops I make. I bet it’s three times a day, I am growling over the space right there. Please make it so a hand fits, or tighten that crap up so damn tight that even a thought can’t get through. Thank you. Otherwise the car has been great.
All I can say is WOW

Not so great anymore UpDate
2020 update. I went to start the car and it was dead. Not even a click. Nada. Battery ok. Had to have towed. Two days in the shop and after running diagnostics found nothing. Car was running. “If I happens again get it towed here.” A phantom problem. Happened once before with a car. Phantom problem. Lost total confidence after a nightmare of “dead car”. Swore I would never have another car with a phantom problem. The Kia was traded for a new Jeep Cherokee Limited. Plus the 2019 Sportage has to have the ac compressor replaced! 10,500 miles. It’s a lease and I may be done with Kia when the is done. Plus, the Sorento was out of warranty by 5 months. They would not work with me. I had previously owned 3 Kia’s.

Got to. Transfer it from Newnan, Ga 30263
It’s in great shape inside and out with a very new bit of damage on the back in a straight line where the garage door made contact with the rear a sgl car garage I am not used to. When it’s washed well inside and out, it looks great. The tires are tested with the black cleaner and the wheels shine silver like new. In interior is in great condition and everything works great with the UVO CAR SYSTEM. Works well with Syrius Xmas, but I have dropped their service due to their high pricing. It’s twotone light and darker grey which really looks nice, it’s leather upholstery. I. Live alone so I am the single driver. I’ve had just normal maintenance service, however Kia checks for any recalls on the car when I take it in for serving and there have been several instances where. Kia has had to fix some recalls, at their cost. I’m sick about the damage to the rear caused by the garage door. Prior to that there were no major scratchers or dings. It just happened three weeks ago. The car runs strong, I have to keep my eye on the speedometer cause the cad rides so smooth, quiet and strong, I loose track that I may de doing 80mpr and totally be aware I’m going that fast. So you have to get used the the hour of the car and just how quick you can be moving on down the road, way to fast. I’m acclimated you that now so I’m pretty much in control of my speed all the time now. I do tend to pace myself with the traffic around me so I still have to check my mirrors and make sure no cops after Behling me. So far since I got my DL AT 16, I’ve never gotten a ticket and I don’t want one now...

DRIVER DOOR STOPPED WORKING IN A DARK PARKING LOT
The SUV is awesome the driver door will work with the fab i have to crawl across the seats & console 8000 miles KIA Corp made would not give a rental and it is $45700.00 SXL V6 Napa Leather and Kia corp said how do we know until we look at it! they would not even send a roll back to pick up the vehicle i have spinal issues thats why my husband wanted me to have this SUV heated seats & cooled seats so i dont over heat because i have other health issues, then they offered $35.00 a day for 2 days rental we front the money. Kia does not care they showed that! We bought 3 new high end Kia's in 2 1/2 weeks and they kick us in the face. To much road noise! UPDATE! Dealership had to fix a latch problem in there rear hatch!

There is a lot to like about the 2017 Kia Sorento. Unfortunately, the seats are really hard and uncomfortable. After owning the car x 2 weeks. I'll never buy another Kia!

Kia
This was our 3rd Kia lease. They have all been reliable, low maintenance vehicles which offer an excellent ride, good gas mileage, good performance and most of all great reliability. My wife and I would certainly recommend Kia without reservation.

Great SUV
I have had the 2016 Sorento SXL 2.0L Turbo for over 6 months now with no single problem. I just love everything about this great SUV. The 2.0L turbo engine delivers so much power in all wheel drive. Just waiting to get my hands on the 2019 SXL. Good job KIA

Better than we expected
The 2016 Kia Sorento is a sleeper it gives you more than you expect in overall quality. It rides quietly and smoothly. The 2.4 4cyl engine has adequate power for regular driving. If you are planning on loading it to maximum it may be a little under powered. The fuel mileage is is very acceptable at 21-28mpg. The cloth seats hug you comfortably and heat option performs wonderfully. The exterior is very stylish and headlights are very good. This vehicle has one of if not the best warranty you can find.

Fist Kia. - May not be my last
The Kia Sorento is a honest car. Not overly expensive, and not overly sofisticated. The ride and comfort is great, my AWD model handles well in snow, ice and wet pavement. My wife does no like the passenger seat position and finds she rides too low in the car.

Very Nice Vehicle!!!
At first I was very skeptical about an SUV with a 4-Cylinder engine, but the skepticism was short lived. This is a good quality vehicle for the price with lots of cool features. It is very smooth riding and comfortable. I’ve owned lots of vehicles and have to say that this one is by far the best. Give it try you won’t be disappointed!!!

Oil burning fun to drive machine.
Stay away from the 4cly sorentos! My Sorento was burning 1 Qt of oil every 315, that's every gas fill up/once a week! Had to get rid of it. Other than that, the engine was powerful! And fun to drive, handling is almost better than a 2017 highlander. It was zippy for a I4 engine. These vehicles are getting a lot of press for having faulty engines. I would watch out if you're interested in buying one. I absolutely cannot recommend. For even as fun as it was to drive, it's no fun to have a piston ring go bad possibly leading to other problems. Update. Nothing new.

The car DIED!
So, I had a 2016 Kia, EX V-6, 42,000 miles. I go out one morning to start the car. NOTHING! No click, not a sound, the car is dead! Battery is new, car always parked in garage. The car is dead! Lights work, radio, etc. Tried to jump start, nothing. Push it out of the garage, called towing company. Car starts but is only operating on couple cylinders. Called Kia, no sir, you are out of warranty. Your 5 years was in January. This is August. Ok, so I have it towed to my local garage. They keep it for two days, ran diagnostics, etc. couldn’t find a problem. Car runs ok. “If it happens again, have it towed to the dealer.” Well, that’s not going to happen. I had a car once that had a “phantom” problem. So, while it was still running I take it to a Jeep dealership, traded it for a Jeep Cherokee, Limited, 4X4. Moral of the story. I like Kia, still have a Sportage, but no way am I going to have a “phantom” car problem. I take road trips, so what happens if I’m at a rest area and it happens again. I don’t thinks so. I like my Jeep, great deal, reliable, great in snow.

Long term report no regrets
Pros Durable drive train and interior Best warranty 4 cylinder turbo rocks, Good towing manners Solid buy Good service at most dealers Decent gas mileage Cons Road noise Teeny back up camera Annoying transmission kick down feature We bought this new off the showroom floor in fall of 2016. Since then we used it to tow a trailer from Philly to Jacksonvillle Fl. We have put around 10 k miles going back and forth to Pennsylvania on I 95. Driven on trips all over the Southeast Used to haul mulch and garden supplies, beach stuff you name it. We had originally looked at high end suvs Mercedes bmw etc and the KIa was a better value. Now has 77k miles. One recall, oil changes and a set of tires. We will get another Kia if this one ever wears out. Cruise at 80 all day long on the interstate no sweat.

Would not purchase this car again
We have owned a number of Toyotas, Hondas and Infinitis over the years and have generally been really happy with our purchases. We decided to try the Kia Sorento because my son does a lot of snowboarding and needed a 4 wheel drive vehicle that would also fit his gear. We have had a number of issues with this car. 1) The pull mechanism to open the gas tank doesn't work so we have to go through the inside back and open the emergency side panel just to put gas in. 2) The windshield fluid tank has some sort of leak and won't hold the washing fluid for more than a day or two. 3) This should probably be number 1 but we have to push a screw driver into the emergency release button to get the car out of park and to put in gear just to drive. We took the car in to the Kia service center because we thought most of these fixes could be handled pretty easily but they said each one would be $190 just to diagnose and then the additional cost to fix once they do diagnose. So almost $600 just to tell us why their car is falling apart and then all of the costs to fix it. We can't wait to get rid of this car and will not be buying a Kia again. Pros: Roomy and black leather interior is nice for the price.

I love my 2016 Kia Good gas mileage and drives very good 👍
Engine replacement
Engine is being replaced under 100,000 Kim’s yes Kia paying for everything on the 2.0 litre turbo. Had my son’s 2014 Santa Fe sport replaced at 80,000 a few years ago. They have problems with this engine. Drove domestic all my life and never had any engine issues but if the big 3 had issues after this many years I’m sure they wouldn’t pay for the repairs. I still love my SUV other than the vent tabs it’s a great ride.

Seats 7 just in time for Christmas
Doesn’t have all the newest features but does have the necessary ones like back up camera parking assist, Bluetooth steering mounted controls etc.
Most reliable car I’ve ever had
No problems Kia put in a brand new motor for me. The other one was fine, but they were doing it for all of them. It handles well I get good gas mileage. I drove it to Texas from California a couple times. I love this car and it’s paid off.

Cheap vent tabs
I have the 2016 Sorento and bout it used in 2017 with 32000 Kim’s. I have had to replace 3 of the 4 dash vents due to the adjustment tab falling off. In all my tears I have never had an issue with anything like this. My son has a Hyundai Santa Fe Sport the sister model and I see one off his is off too. There is only so much you can cheap out on and this is not one. The only other issue is the sunroof needs lubing every spring on both vehicles as they don’t alway close without help. Otherwise we love our korean built suvs. We are in Canada 🇨🇦
