I had driven a Hyundai Sonata hybrid for many years and loved the car. My wife was the pleased owner of a Kia, so when I saw a 2022 Sorento hybrid become available at a relatively good price, I decided to make the switch from my Sonata. The Sorento hybrid is an impressive vehicle. Despite the reports from some owners of disappointing fuel economy, I have been getting 40 MPG. Amazingly enough, that is even better than the mileage my Sorento hybrid had afforded, despite the Sorento being a larger vehicle. The gas station trips will be few and far between. The Sorento is also equipped with numerous interesting technological features. There are even two levels of lane-assist driving. Not something that I have elected to use, but it might come in handy for those wishing to take a cat nap while driving. I am pleased with the ride quality, and the six passenger seating comes in handy with the grandkids (though I would have preferred seven passenger bench seating). Now for the caveat. On my fifth day of ownership, I repeatedly tried to start the car without success. The interior lights worked, but the car was otherwise as dead as a doornail. I wound up contacting the Kia road service that was part of the warranty, fearing wisely that the car might ultimately have to be towed all the way to a Kia dealership. After the usual two hour wait, a tow truck did arrive. The driver tried, also without success, to jump start the car, then tried to shift the car to neutral so that it could be towed in the normal fashion. That brings us to the first major issue. The car was designed with an unusual rotary shift dial on the center console. Without power, there is no way to shift the car to neutral. Normally, such a vehicle will also be equipped with a "shift lock release" somewhere on the console or dash to compensate for this and to allow an emergency shift to neutral. But as far as anyone can tell (and that includes the local Kia dealers and the national Kia road service personnel), this car lacks that feature. That is a very fundamental design problem. To return to the narrative, the first tow driver departed and informed me that he had called for a second truck to come out. Well, after waiting another two hours, that second driver appeared and simply went through the same futile motions. I was then promised a third truck that would be properly equipped to deal with the issue. That truck did not arrive until late the following morning. The driver had to employ a wheel lift and dollies to transport the car to the dealership. Needless to say, most tow trucks do not come equipped with these mechanisms. The bottom line is that it was almost 24 hours before the car was to get to the Kia service center. But that was just the start of the odyssey. The dealership was initially unable to figure out the source of the problem. They admitted that the hybrid was so new that they were not really familiar with the technology of the vehicle. They had to coordinate for several days with engineers at Kia central headquarters before diagnosing the issue as a defective starter button. So that should be quickly rectifiable, right? Wrong. I was told that it would take around 5 business days to get a new switch! That is a clear indication that certain essential parts for this car are not being stocked regionally. But even so, one would think that the equipment would be sent for overnight delivery as a simple courtesy for Kia customers. Well, apparently not. As it turned out, it took nine days for the item to arrive. In total, I was without the Sorento for a couple of days short of three weeks. The one saving grace is that after about a week without the vehicle, the dealership provided a rental car through Enterprise. Without that, I would have been beside myself. Was this untoward experience an extraordinary occurrence? Probably. As I mentioned, I am otherwise impressed with the vehicle. But potential buyers should at least be aware of the issues I encountered.

I have had this vehicle almost 1 year. Compared to the Sienna I traded in I get incredible gas mileage, just about double. This is the first car we bought that has some of the modern driver enhancements, lane keeping assist, automated cruise control, along with the rear cross vehicle alert and the back up camera. I wish it had a little more cargo capacity, but overall we rarely have more than 4 people, so we usually leave the third seat folded for trips to Costco. The acceleration is excellent, I don’t any fast 0 to 60 times but make no mistake, this vehicle is capable on the street and on the highway. Overall one of the best vehicles we have ever purchased.

We are fascinated with the interiors and how the car exterior looks. Technology is paired with 2022. Ours have the sunroof and my wife loves it. The engine feels so much more powerful than the Mitsubishi Outlander 2018 PHEV we owned before. The major disappointment for us has been the mpg. It states 39 mpg city and 35 mpg highway and 37 mpg combined. Our combine has been about 28 mpg with 80% highway and 20% city. When we do 50/50 we may get around the 32 mpg combine. I was hoping to get at minimum 33 mpg given that the majority of my wife driving is highway and the vehicle advertisement states 35 mpg on highways. We are trying the smart setting to see if is better than Eco on the highways. If you drive mainly cities you may get up to 39 mpg. We paid about $48k out the door all included and traded of our 2018 car. MPG 3/5, exterior 5/5, interior 5/5, power 4/5.

After only owning the sorento hybrid 2022 for 4 months, the infotainment when down twice. First time happens on the second month of ownership, maps and navigation suddenly gone, can not access to them, took it back to the dealer and looks like they reinstalled the software. They told me if this happens again that I should do a soft reset where there is little pin next to the volume knob. Now during our Christmas trip, this happens again during driving conditions, it got crazy, it restarts by itself every minute without able to turn this off. Annoying, no navigation, radio or vehicle features settings. I contacted my kia dealer and had an appointment setup tomorrow, let’s see what happens this time. Overall, is a good vehicle but tech side needs improvement. During the check after two hours service technician told me that all infotainment needs to be replaced and they will order a new replacement without cost, which I told them that I seen in YouTube people with the same issues and one said that this will be fixed by updating the infotainment software. So, since no luck at the dealership and nothing to loose, I made the software update at home, took like 3 hours and today it’s two months later everything works fine.

I picked this up used, a 2022 with 23k miles on it. Everything on it worked. No 'low fluid' light. maybe previous owner had that resolved. It was EASY to hit 40mpg in city. I was even able to hit 59.6 in town in perfect conditions. This is the trim with the 17inch tires and it makes for a REALLY nice ride. Very quiet, very smooth. Absorbed bumps well. Not sure how the 19" wheels ride, probably similar. Not sure why some reviews mention a delayed take off from a stop. Mine takes off like a normal gas car. And even in Eco mode, it pulls from a stop light very well, puts me back in the seat. No hesitation. The gas engine kicking in to help is seamless. It accelerates nicely and shifts great. No problems with it at all. Even though I don't have the Prestige with it's thigh extender, the seat is quite comfortable. I am 6'1" with long legs and I have no problems. Visibility is very good compared to many other vehicles. LOTS of headroom, I think I could wear a cowboy hat if I wanted to. it cruises on the interstate nicely, controlled ride and quiet. 65 and below is VERY quiet, above 65 you begin to hear a bit of wind noise, but much quieter than Rav4 and CRV. Im not sure why the DRL is the way it is. Usually in KIA vehicles, the DRL is on when switch is set to Auto. (some of them even stay on when switch is set to off, depends on model). If you want DRL on you have to turn switch to parking light position, which turns on the rear lights as well. Unlike any other Kia or Hyundai which has the DRLs illuminated in Auto mode. Ive driven other vehicles and Kia really got the cruise control right. It will catch up to another vehicle and if the difference wasn't too much, it will gently slow down to match speed. If someone cuts in front of me it can get pretty violent with the brakes. I've learned to pause the cruise when someone cuts it, then turn it right back on. The system will then gradually back off until it reaches your preferred distance. Not too bad. And the looks! Man this suv looks good. It all looks good but the front end is a home run, really attractive vehicle and gets a lot of looks. My only cons are the back up beeper, the hollow sounding door handles that sound like a base model Forte, and......well i guess that's it.

A 10 years warranty is worthless if the company fails to respond to complaints and issues. There is a known fault in the Kia Sorento hybrid concerning the warning light to refill the inverter coolant. There is no logical explanation as to why this warning light is lit and no means of fixing it according to the Kia Dealer who sold us the car. Trying to get an answer from customer care is akin to getting blood from a stone. after 22 attempts and requests at management level they failed to contact me. When I eventually spoke to the escalation team he told me to take it to another dealer and I did only to be told there was Noth8ng they can do either. Is it a software program or a safety issue. I have reported it to the National Road safety Agency. I await there actions. In the interim I await answers to written correspondence with both the Dealer and Kia. It seems when there is a problem one blames the other. Both are at fault in my book. I do say but for this issue we are delighted with the car. My tip before expecting a 10 year warranty read the reviews. I wish I did

I really enjoy the new style and performance is good. Kia.com clearly advertises DRL standard on all Sorento Hybrids, but mine doesn't have operational DRL. I went thru their escalation process where they admitted the website says it but declined to fix the issue. Really disappointed in KIA Love the Sorento outside of Bad Custoner Service from Kia America, Inc

Ahhh....where do I begin? Before purchasing my 2022 Kia Sorento EX Hybrid, I had a 2019 Chevy Traverse LT. I LOVED that thing, but we purchased it certified pre-owned on a rainy day and unfortunately didn't notice a number of cosmetic issues on it until after the fact. The used car market was hot and instead of hanging onto the Traverse, only to have to eventually repaint it entirely, we ended up getting more for the trade than what we paid for it originally. I had considered whether or not I'd regret trading it in. Other than the cosmetic issues, there was nothing I didn't like about it. But, we figured when else are we going to have the opportunity to come out ahead on a VEHICLE of all things? The Sorento is obviously smaller, and the biggest thing I took into consideration before trading it in. It was a major factor, but something I decided I could live with in exchange for a modern-looking vehicle and a panoramic roof. But when we got it home and took our first weekend trip, 2 carry-on suitcases is literally all that can fit behind the third row. When we purchased the Sorento, we had 2 kids (6 and 4), but now we are expecting baby number 3. We could definitely still fit 3 kids into the car with 2 in the captains chairs and 1 in the 3rd row, but there is so little real estate behind the 3rd row that it makes me incredibly nervous putting my kid back there. After trying to do some research to figure out if it's my hyper-paranoid mom brain, or a legitimate concern, I was shocked to see how little rear-impact crash testing is done. Not a knock on Kia, but if NHTSA or any other safety organization isn't taking the time to test a vehicle's rear-impact integrity, I'm going to make sure there's as much real estate behind the 3rd row as possible to absorb any potential impacts. For reference, I am 5'3 and sat in the rear sit on a cross-town trip with family members traveling with us. I am FIVE FOOT THREE and my head was touching the back glass. That is how close the door is to the back seat. Even just a minor impact would likely send glass falling on top of my 6-year old. Rarely using the 3rd row is ideal, which I realize that is primarily what this vehicle is designed for. At the same time though, what is the point of even having a third row if you intend on rarely using it? CONS: Counting out the well-known issue of size, there are so many other features about the Sorento that I just am not a fan of. The car literally drives me insane. I would love to get a Telluride, but I'm nervous that Kia would also carry these nuisances over to it too: - Temperature pre-sets: You can't pre-set a temperature for remote starts. It defaults to 72 degrees, UNLESS you pay for their subscription. Then you can pre-set the temperature from your phone. But if you have multiple profiles set on the car (like I have one and my husband has one), it only pre-sets the temperature for one profile. If my husband was the last to drive, and I remote start it to drive to work the next day, it will pre-set under whatever settings he has. - AC settings: One of the most annoying things is that even when the AC/Heat is turned Off, the fresh air intake is constantly on, and it comes into the cabin at the temperature the Heat/AC was last set at. You can switch it to recirculate so you don't have air blasting in your face even when it's turned off, but it flips back over to fresh air after 3 minutes. It doesn't matter how many times you switch it back to recirculate or how many curse words you use, 3 minutes is all you get. - Moonroof: A minor complaint, but still a complaint, is that you can't have the sunroof open but the sun shade closed half way. It's all or nothing which means 2nd row passengers will have the sun in their eyes if you have the sunroof open. The back half of the sunroof is fixed glass anyway, so I'm unsure why the shade couldn't be closed over that part. - ALL THE NOISES: The noises this car makes so many beeps and chimes. The collision-warning system is great, but far too sensitive. I can be actively braking and well aware of the vehicle turning ahead of me, but it will still chime like I've done nothing. Parking sensors are entirely too sensitive. If I go through a drive-thru line, it beeps the entire time because I'm "too close" to the wall. It even beeps when I park to drop my kids off at gymnastics. There are bushes on the other side of the curb, so of course it beeps then too because I'm "too close" to the bushes. If you pull into your driveway and take your seat belt off early, be prepared for the seat belt alert to chime until the car is turned off. It even continues to chime after the car is in park. Insane. Not to mention, you cannot reverse in the hybrid without announcing to the world that you're doing so. I realize that this is a hybrid safety feature, but I don't understand why it beeps, even when the engine is on. - Interior smell: The syntex material STILL gives me a headache, even after having the car for 5 months. It is so overpowering that I literally asked my OB if I shouldn't be driving the car while I'm pregnant. There's just not enough out there to know if it's a legitimate concern, but there are quite a few articles out there that indicate the smell is from high levels of VOCs off-gassing from the materials. - Design defects: These are defects, in my opinion. Things that just make no sense are a nuisance. If there is forecasted snow or ice, you cannot simply raise the windshield wipers up like you can with 99% of other vehicles. Instead, you have to set the wiper settings at specific settings, and if you lose the sticker on the windshield, you would probably have to reference the manual or online forums to know how to set them. The windshield wiper fluid blasts a chemical smell throughout the cabin. There is even a setting that "limits wiper fluid scent from entering the cabin", but it only limits it by about 25% in my opinion. You cannot lock the doors if any of them are open. If you remote unlock the doors, they will lock as you approach the vehicle if it's been over a minute since you've unlocked them. I assume this is a safety/anti-break in feature, but it's so incredibly annoying. The second and third rows have very little audio volume. The third row and beyond have no speakers. The occasion that I sat in the third row, I realized my kids really couldn't hear the music that I could clearly hear upfront. We played with the settings and realized they were set the correct way. PROS: - I have no issues with the hybrid functionality itself. I got quite a bit lower MPG in the winter, but I assume that is because the engine kicked on more in below freezing temps. - The exterior design of the Sorento itself is fantastic. It is certainly a sharp-looking car. - The navigation and other tech features are great, but I find myself not using them like I thought I would - If you're accessing the second row from the rear, there is a release button that helps lay them flat from the back instead of walking around the side and manually laying them down - The USB ports in the rear of the front seats is a great feature for second-row passengers. We haven't had to use them yet, but I could see how valuable they would be on road trips. Ultimately, I will be trading the Sorento in for a larger, less annoying third-row SUV before baby #3 comes.

Wasn't sure what car would be best but this had a rating in the top 10 for Hybrid-7 passenger cars. Drives great, lots of room, and more extras than I could ever had wanted.

I don't think I express how much I like thid car. I had little no expection from this car and it blows me away how smooth this car rides. I wish the gear(shifter) wasn't a knob.

I love the look and feel at the wheel, but dislike the delayed take-off once idle at complete stop. It's feels a little choppy on highway it may be my tires the tire light just came on at just 3300 miles. Cargo space is great
