So my bosses were complaining about my various "large" vehicles parking next to theirs at work. I had a 1998 F250 Compressed Natural Gas or CNG (right before the F250 was relabelled an standard F150), a 2000 V10 Excursion and then a 2009 CNG F250 Super Cab Super Duty 4x4. Well - they didn't like anything except my muscle car.... sigh. So I got the Borrego with 103k miles on it. Me and my daughter flew out to pick it up - and she liked it MORE than I did - despite her having 2 Ford products. It was our first cross state line road trip together, and she did much of the driving. The truck (it is a ladder on frame vehicle) was stable and comfortable at highway speeds, well appointed with leather, seat heater, even Sirius XM. I only drove the car for 6-8 months before gifting it to her - which she's had since 2020. She's put 50k more miles on it for trips with friends (3rd row comes in handy), work commutes, etc. The only thing other than wheels, fluids and brakes to be replaced was the idler pulley arm - which was squeaking at start up or low RPM's. It is a solid, safe and sure footed vehicle - she took it to a winter lodge above St. George Utah (up about 8,000 ft. level) and the 4x4 system worked great she said (was glad to have it). A solid vehicle for family on a budget, the ONLY downside is the gas mileage. It was introduced in 2008 when gas was mostly still $1 around the US. So 14-19 MPG should be your expectation.

Poorly built AC compressor and interior

Interior has a cheap feel, scratches or scuffs easy. AC compressor makes a knocking noise and I only have 3400 miles on the vehicle. I have taken it in for repair twice and of course the noise isn't as loud while it's at KIA so they say it is normal. $27,000 luxury vehicle that makes a knocking noise while going down the road! I was a repeat buyer, but will no longer buy from KIA.
