I LOVE my Liberty
This is the first car I ever bought with my own money. I got her when I was just 18, not a lot of cash in the bank, and I just needed a fun little car to get around in. The car now has almost 300K kilometres, original trans, engine (3.7L), transfer case and runs like a champ. She’s a little gas thirsty sometimes, sure, but that doesn’t matter. Every time I look at my Liberty it puts a smile on my face. I’ve done minimal repairs over the time i’ve owned it (rear callipers, new alternator, etc) but what can you expect from a 20 year old car?! She’s wicked on the trails and now, with less and less KJ Liberty’s on the road, is quite a unique little car! If you can find one in decent shape, DO IT! You wont have any regrets. This car is fun and incredibly capable. I love my Liberty and she loves me back.

I was surprised
I had the Renegade in "Extreme" Off- Road conditions, and it performed above and beyond what I expected. Most of the time I didn't even need to use the 4- Wheel Drive system. Here's a hint though:In the owners manual , it tells you to remove the side step/running boards. You best do it !!They knew what they were talking about.

Maybe I got a bad one?
I think I may have just got a bad one. The under side is all rusty looking, Brakes moan when backing up, been in the shop 4 times and had a transmission part replaced. Still does not always shift and downshift right. Too much road noise. Missing a lig nut. Make sure you get a good one.
THE VEHICLE FROM HELL
This vehicle drove fine when we drove on the highway and access roads. We had it for less than 12 hours and returned it because the city streets and ride were so punishing. I drove 6 miles got out and the back pains were unbelieveable. I have run 3 marathons and felt better after those endurance events than 6 miles of CITY STREETS with the Liberty. The vehicle also idled roughly. I have vehicle that is 15 years old a 3 Series BMW that will run circles around any SUV and not punish you. It had a very stiff sport suspension that now feels like a Rolls Royce. UNBELIEVABLE. It used 5.5 gallons for slightly over 40 miles.
Disappointed
I bought a 2003 Jeep Liberty because I like the looks, quality (for an American car) and I thought it would be fun to drive. However, I am disappointed in the gas mileage, small front seats, brakes & transmission. The brakes make this horrible squeaking noise and the transmission kind of clunks when you come to a stop. The service department told me nothing is wrong and they will be adjusted by the car's computer as it get to know my driving habits--- SURE!!! Front seats need more thigh support. Gas mileage is awful.
