Used 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV Consumer Reviews
Stay Away!
We have owned our 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland for 5 months. Tomorrow will be the fifth time it is going in the shop. We have transmission problems that are dangerous, problems with the radio which controls the heat/ac/clock/navi, the speedometer blanked out at one time and the abs breaks maded the car almost come to a complete stop on a highway. The Jeep dealership continues to do "computer updates" to the car and it continues to have problems. Now we also have a squeak in the back. Beautiful car but terrible reliability! Not safe to drive!!!!!!! Do Not Buy.
JGC 3.0 deisel 6 months, 11,000 miles, no complaints
Ive had the JGC Overland 4x4 with 3.0 diesel for 8 months, and have no complaints. We go back and forth from the Bay Area to our house in Tahoe once a month and Im amazed how good the mileage is. I love the diesels torque. Great gas mileage and power. The tranny is as smooth as silk (Yes smooth.. No clunking) and the paddle shifters are very nice in the mountains. Weve used the snow mode a few times and it gives me a real sense of confidence. I did get a safety recall notice and brought in in last week, and had the work done. I was a little surprised when I went there that there were 8 flash updates required. But it has sophisticated computer system in it, so I should not be surprised.

Nice to look at but terrible computer system
I fell in love with the 2014 Grand cherokee limited. Loved the style and the features included seemed like it was well put together. Sadly that was short lived. Mechanically the car has been good but the electronic head unit is a complete nightmare constantly freezes reverse camera never works heating/cooling radio anything controlled through the head unit including navigation cant be changed when it freezes until you get out of the vehicle make sure the fob is far enough from the car for the computer to reset. 5 attempts so far to fix latest is a head unit replacement we will see
good at everything
2014 model. Test drove all engines. Ended up w/v6 for fuel costs. Does good at everything. Got the quadralift air suspension & towing package options. Surprised how well v6 did towing 7k-lb cement trailer at freeway speeds and full of passengers... very stable ride & didn't sag at all. 20" rims handle well on pavement and not bad at all w/AT grappler2 tires offroad. Nasty muddy rutted rocky road up to the cabin.. no prob...just click the button and jacks it up almost 4" for clearance. (got $100 skid plate for piece of mind) Quiet, comfortable ... etc. It's the everything vehicle I needed. I love the high depreciation after the first year. ... bought it 1yr old and saved $25k (50% off) still looks runs brand new. Had 2.5yrs now.. no issues. (favorite feature is adaptive cruise used daily).

Don't buy a 2014 Grand Cherokee!!
I LOVED this car for the first couple years but literally the month my warranty ran out, things started breaking. First a $350 fix for some fuse in the starter. I had to get it towed to the dealership to fix. Now today, it wouldn't accelerate properly and change gears properly (it'd be at 6th gear going 20 mph, then 4th and 5th gear when at a stop. It ended up being a $40 part for a oil pressure switch and $455 of labor!!!!!! The gas mileage sucks, and the maintenance costs are terrible. Just steer clear of these vehicles. I've had this car since Sept 2013 and it has 53k miles on it. I've kept up with all maintenance. The stock tires major sucked so replaced those at 30k miles.
