GC Limited Ecodiesel - Mileage & Torque King

Recently switched from Honda to the Jeep Grand Cherokee Ecodiesel and could not be happier. A realistic 32 MPG HWY and 24 MPG mixed driving for a 5,300 pound 4WD vehicle is incredible. With its maximum torque available at ~2000 RPM, acceleration from 0-35 outperforms most "sports" sedans...which makes it imminently drivable around town. Sport mode is essential for spirited driving; Eco mode is docile and delivers best fuel economy (~24 MPG City). The interior is very comfortable, and of high quality. I love the open pore wood trim. Only 1 problem to date (DEF injector), which was fixed quickly by the dealer. No other issues!

Mixed Feelings

I bought a 2014 Overland in May of 2014. I get the Phone message/See Dealer for Service daily but when I take it to the dealer it never shows up, so nothing can be done. I thank God that I bought an extended warranty because the Quadralift failed, and the back two shocks went. I have under 22,000 miles on it right now. The dealer had it for almost a month. It's fine now but the cost of the repairs on the paperwork shocked me. I spent a fortune on this Jeep (my 4th, all GC's) and now I'm concerned because I barely drive it, baby it, and something huge went bad. Also, lots of recalls. I love Jeep GC's in general and the ride is to fine for...I just hope now things don't start going bad. It's five years old.

The absolute best vehicle I've ever owned

We have a Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland diesel model with 93,000 miles on it. Absolutely NOTHING has gone wrong with it, ever. Only routine maintenance and 2 sets of new tires. I've never had this experience in my 30 years of driving. And since it replaced a BMW, which had constant issues and failures, this has been a wonderful experience and has completely made me move back to American cars. It has great fuel economy, and we can drive from Santa Fe, NM to the California state line (700 miles) on a single tank of fuel. On the highway, we average around 30mpg, and overall get about 26mpg -- incredible for such a spacious vehicle. We've towed trailers with it, driven across the continent with it, twice. Ours has the off-road package, and take it up into the mountains of New Mexico when I can, and it performs flawlessly with the air suspension and low range. No other SUV other than a Range Rover has this level of comfort and luxury is this good off-road (and those cost a fortune and are a maintenance nightmare). And the heated and cooled seats make long road trips effortless. The only downside is that I know it won't last forever, and I know that there won't be anything equivalent to it when the time comes to replace it: Diesel, supreme comfort and great offroad capabilities -- the car market is moving away from two of these.

Best car I ever owned

I have the V8 model. bought it with 45k. I have over 108k now. only problem I had was the water pump went early on. I took it to my mechanic who said the OEM wasn't available so he put on a third party water pump. I sent the receipt in and they paid it under warranty. My only complaint is the navigation system is dumb compared to google. If this thing had google maps it would be perfect. I would pay for internet access to get it. Voice recognition is not great but there is no better vehicle, for me, that I know of. At least in the price range. Oh and why is the V8 not an option in the drop down on the edmunds website? It was an option on the car. Too many great things on this car to mention. Get the Overland with V8.
