Never Again Will We Make This Mistake!
Run for you life! This is the worst SUV on the market! Problems from literaly day one. Black smoke poured out the back after owning for one day. Company would not diagnose correctly until warenty had expired! Thank you Chrysler! The brakes ate up our entire savings, the transmission was my right kidney, and not to mention the new engine we had to put in it. The front door does not lock, the windows leak, the hood does not stay up by its self. Please what ever you do DO NOT buy a 1999 Jeep! It is by far the worst decision my husband and I have ever made! We tell everyone we know how much we have "loved" our Jeep. If you own a Jeep you understand the nightmare.
Nothing But Junk
I purchased this vehicle used about a year ago. At 36K, there was a terrible transmission clunk when shifting. At 40K, rotors had to be replaced due to poor DiamlerChrysler caliper design (well known problem). DC refused to assist in the $450 bill. I phoned the 800 number and they refused to let me talk to a manager and then hung up on me! Their customer service is horrible and rude. DC capitalizes on the Jeep "American" tradition (but it's a German automobile). Don't make the same mistake I did. You will be sorry.

Poor Quality throughout the vehicle
I am telling myself NEVER, NEVER again buy a Jeep vehicle. Over $4,000 in repair costs in just over 2 years. Leaks in hoses, blown water pumps, power windows completely failed & had to replace, many electrical & mechanical malfunctions & defects, defective sensors, major transmission & engine problems....etc. Don't forget to consider the extremely poor resale values due to Jeep's reputation for poor quality & reliability. I've concluded it would have been more inexpensive to have bought a BMW or Mercedes sports car than the Jeep...at least those have high resale values.
What a Mistake
Absolutely terrible car - worst ride- rock and sways, quadradrive- moans and groans on U turns, v-8 roars, brakes the aboslute worst- 12k on a set of pads and rotors continually warp. Are you a masochist who likes to hang out at the garage? If so, buy one. Your two happiest days will be when you buy one and even happier, when you sell it. Picking up my X5 BMW very soon!
Still rolling
Bought new 1n 1999, all options available including 4.7 ltr v-8, have driven it all over. I have about 160,000 miles now, most miles in cold weather climate., am now in south, ac just went out, not compressor but a couple smaller parts., been repaired along with vent door problem, had 100,000 mile warranty, so all minor problems were taken care of by dealer then. Still a daily driver. My 4th Jeep.
