Poor handling??? This thing handles like it's on railroad tracks. It tracks straight as an arrow. Slightly hard ride because of the silly 17 inch tires. Best interior materials I've seen for that price. All in all a winner for a smaller luxury sports sedan. Could use better ergonomics on the dash panel.

I read lots of pros and cons on the Jags before the purchase, but proceeded after a test drive. No regrets. The car is quick and nimble. It handles like a dream and has all the creature comforts necessary to survive the speeds of L.A. commuting, along with the parking-lot nature of the rush hour. Kudos to Ford/Jag for refining this model.

Excellent All Around

I recently drove my X Type home in a snow storm. The only cars on the road that were not having trouble were the SUVs and me. The X-Type is under rated!! Ford has done an excellent job of working out the problems without taking the British styling out. It is an excellent value, excellent performance, extremely comfortable, head turning styling. My only complaint is that the in-city fuel economy is awful, 17/18 mpg on premium. The car does however love to run down the turnpike at 80 mph with 25 mpg. If you are wondering if you should get one for yourself, stop wondering and go for it.

2005 X-type Sport...Love it!!!

This is my second X type. My first was a 2003 2.5 liter, that was very reliable, and fun to drive. This one is a Sport 3.0, and is WAY better! The handling is really, really improved over the plain X types, as good a BMW 3-series, I think...well worth the difference in price. I shopped around first, looking at the Audi A4, the BMW 3's, the Infiniti G35 and M35, and even considered the S-type, but after I drove an platinum-colored X-type Sport, I ordered a black one on the spot!

Why the Bad Rap?

I read all the reviews before buying my X-type and I was a little worried as most seemed to give the car a bad rap. After owning it for 8 months I have found only minor things I would change on the car. Most reviews said the car wasn't as sporty as the other small cars in it's class. While that may be true not everyone is looking for a sports car. With the 230hp engine the Jag will get you anywhere you need to go plenty fast. If you're looking to blow the doors off other cars go buy a Mustang Cobra for the same price. For the rest of us who are just looking to ride around in style this car is perfect. Drives nice, looks sharp, and I haven't had any issues yet.
