Really 3.5 Stars. An upgrade, but disappointing.

I enjoyed our 2019 Hyundai Tucson Ultimate so much that I knew that I would buy it off lease, which I did. I've long thought that with a couple of tweaks to that Tucson you'd have a nearly perfect vehicle. Well I give Hyundai credit, they've made those tweaks: this vehicle is slightly bigger, slightly longer, with more room in the rear seat and cargo area, and with MORE luxury features. The styling has really grown on me, and overall this vehicle is more than comparable to the several Acuras I've owned. The Hybrid Limited has all the stuff on it you could ever want, bigger wheels with lower profile tires, and the all wheel drive makes this the most zippy & nimble vehicle of its type I've ever driven. In heavy city stop and go driving, we are averaging 27 MPG over the first 1500 miles, which is an 80% improvement over the 2019 model with the 2.4 l ICE engine. In most ways, after a couple months I think this is the best vehicle I've ever owned. So why only 3.5 stars? It's not immediately apparent upon test driving, but the seats are uncomfortable. The driver seat has a very awkward curved nature to it as you settle in, which seems to force the headrest into your head and neck area no matter how high or low it is adjusted. It's as if I want to sit up straight but can't, because the headrest is pushing my head and neck forward. I would literally be more comfortable if I took the headrest off. No amount of adjustment helps. Even with the lumbar support fully inflated, it's difficult for me to find a comfortable upright position (I'm 6'1, 240). I am somewhat of a seat fiddler in any vehicle, but with the '23 Tucson it's impossible to get the adjustment exactly right. Pretty weird. Unfortunately that's not the only disappointment with the seats. One of my favorite features from the 2019 is the rear seats with adjustable upright support. Even with limited space, that recline made the rear seats much more habitable, and that feature carries over to the 2023 model. On the '19 ICE seats are comfortable on long drives for people of any size and weight. I never minded waiting for my kids swim practice, because I would actually spread out in the rear seat, lean it back and get some work done. However -- in this 2023 Hybrid model, they have to put the battery somewhere, and it's underneath the rear seat. Your butt can feel that you're sitting on a hard surface after about 15 minutes, as opposed to a typical sprung, upholstered seat bottom, which apparently they've left out. Eventually you just feel like you're sitting on a hard box. Super, super uncomfortable. I can't take it for more than 2 hours, so I don't know how anybody could make a long family drive in these rear seats. As fun as it is to drive this vehicle, and as functional and practical as it is - I already know that I will not be buying it off lease. I hope this is something they can correct in the future. Hell I wish it was something they could correct right now, as I really like my car!

So far loving the new smooth ride. Love my Prius but needed more room for growing family! Tons of space, easy to drive and attractive to boot! Heated seats are fabulous!

Horrible Experience! Buyer Beware!

We purchased a brand new Tucson Plug-in in July 2023 all the bells and whistles. In September 2023 with only 2600 miles on it, it slid into neutral and got stuck. My brand new car was non-functioning and I had it towed to the closest dealer! After a week, with no loaner car or rental car provision, they returned my car and said they couldn’t find anything wrong! After 5 weeks of trying to work with Hyundai corporate (I can’t even use the term Customer Service because it’s non-existent), I was told that my case was not valid for a replacement vehicle or any reimbursement of my expenses (although this was promised). Buyer beware. Obviously problems with the Hyundai Tucson and zero customer service.
