Terrible 1.6T Engine
Love the SUV, but the main component (the engine) is horrible. When accelerating, especially uphill, the engine sounds like it's about to come apart. This problem started all of a sudden at about 1,000 mi (6 weeks into ownership). It came about with a bang driving under 10mph in a parking lot. No trouble codes thrown so Hyundai says nothing wrong. Google it, several others have complained about the same pinging-like action when the engine revs above 2,000 rpm and driving under a load. It's annoying to the point you have to turn up the radio to dround out the sound. Such a disappointment and Hyundai's warranty is useless when they say they can't find anything wrong.

Totally Disappointed
This car gets a one star because it started out great with all the bells and whistles working. This hybrid limited is unsafe to drive. It cut off while driving in flowing traffic. Battery and check engine light flashing. The two closest dealerships could not take the car for a month. The car is 1 1/2 hour away and they have had the car for over a month now and it's still not fixed. A technician was called in to fix the car and he can't figure out what's wrong. They changed the water pump, flushed coolant, and changed the 12v battery. I'm calling every 2 days to get answers bc they don't follow up. This is a nightmare!!! The car only has 15,000 miles on it with 2 oil changes since buying it. These are the DTC codes that are on my Bluelink: P056200 Powertrain, P177500 Powertrain, P177400 Powertrain, U100700 Powertrain, C110216 Chassis, U100787 HEV, P1A8B00 FCEV. Save yourself the heartache, don't purchase this hybrid.

Where to begin… let’s start with glitchy tech
Have the hybrid blue and while it has a great look and incredible gas mileage, I can’t get past all the problems and truly wished I read the legit owner reviews and just kept my trusty RAV-4. Here are a few of the issues so far (less than 5k miles): CarPlay drops and screen goes black at least once during each drive. Hyundai blames Apple and Apple blames Hyundai. “Shifter System Malfunction” message and wasn’t able to shift from park to drive until restarted car (no code recorded, so no help from dealer svc dept) Embarrassingly LOUD reverse beeping - like louder than a dump truck Pinging/loud engine noise at low speed on inclines - WHY? No spare tire (as mentioned in other reviews) Radio begins playing after phone calls for absolutely no reason So far the dealership has been no help and cites “the car is too new” for them to address the problems. Hope these problems are addressed and corrected, but won’t hold my breath.

Bought a second 2022 Tucson Hybrid
UPDATE: 5/22/24 My 22 Tucson Hybrid Limited now has 22k miles on the odometer. The car is still stellar in every way. Everything is holding up exceptionally well. I paid MSRP less a $500 rebate and was forced to buy some nonsense $1000 add on stuff. At the time, that was still a fantastic deal. Many dealers were charging a 5 to 10k market adjustment and getting it. The 24 model of this exact vehicle is now widely available around here. The discounts off MSRP are 3 to 5K and that's pre any rebates. The fact that I can now buy the 24 for around 34K is amazing. For the money, nothing else comes close in my opinion. We love both of our Tucson Hybrids. We're getting a very steady 37MPG. Great car, comfortable, rides pretty nice, and has enough power to be quite peppy if needed. My main disappointment is the Bose stereo system. It's a shame they changed to Bose. For us, these are perfect. Edmunds was very helpful with their reviews when it came time to buy. In August I purchased an SEL CONVENIENCE. I love it so much, I decided to buy another. This time I went for the Limited Hybrid. It cost about 6K more than the SEL CONVENIENCE, but it's got a ton of extra stuff. The steering seems to be nicer on the Limited. More firm and responsive to me. The tech is amazing. I love all the extra goodies. Smaht Pahk is very cool. The cameras and warnings are just so helpful when parking. The vehicle rides quiet and smooth. The NAV is great. It's just unbelievable that you can get this much car for this price in today's market. There are a few thing that aren't as nice as the SEL CONVENIENCE. The headlights as an example, are great when looking straight ahead. However, when turning, they don't difuse well and the ability to see around the corner is not nearly as good as on the SEL CONVENIENCE. The Bose Stereo system is maybe 1/4 of a notch better than the SEL CONVENIENCE Stereo. Why on earth did Hyundai stop using what they did prior to 2022? The final con, all that piano black super shiny plastic is a dust magnet. I keep a microfiber in each of our Tucson Hybrids, because the dust sticks out like soar thumb. It still irks me that there's no spare tire in either one. I give it 5 stars, but Hyundai really cheaper out on the stereo, lack of a spare tire, and the poor design of the Limited headlights is dangerous.

We got two of the Blue models.
My husband and I each bought one last month. We've never been so happy with a car. I got the white one and he got the black one. They drive like a dream and it's just so fun. I feel good about the safety features because I always have kids with me and one of my sons drives it on a regular basis. It's absolutely a beautiful car! We tend to keep our cars for a few years, but the Hyundai warranty will convince us to hold on to these. Great pep from a corner stop, smooth and quiet around town, and fun on the highway.

Best CUV on the market today
2022 Hyundai Tucson SEL CONVENIENCE HYBRID Great build quality, great fit and finish, great looking, great to drive, great mileage, great technology, great safety features, great riding CUV! This trim comes well packed with plenty of great options. No leather covered seats. No Bose stereo, but a nice 6 speaker stereo that cranks fine. Only 10 colors of interior ambient lighting vs 64 in the Limited Trim. No Smaht Pahk. Other than that it is loaded. Lots of room. I love this CUV. Oh and a stunning value at $33,335. Don't forget the best warranty in the entire car industry. "Hyundai, tomorrows styling, safety, and technology, at last century prices" I own that!!!!!!! Update: 4/12/24 Still my favorite Hyundai ever. 37 MPG combined. Runs like a dream. Not a single issue. When I bought mine, I considered the best CUV value on the may. That opinion still stands. Rides smooth, quiet, and has enough power for my needs. In sport mode it's really got some quickness. No, it's not a super fast vehicle by any stretch, but it has zero acceleration lag or problems keeping up with any traffic. Given the prices of new cars, I'm keeping this for the long haul. Still looks like new as well. The silver color helps. It's unfortunate that Hyundai has jacked their prices so much. They're no longer a great value proposition IMO. The pricing now is likely to steer many towards Toyota, IMO.

Tucson in Gilbert AZ
We’ve owned this suv for a couple weeks now and put about a thousand miles on it. The Tucson has a lot of standard safety features, it’s ride is really smooth and quiet and has about the amount of power that you would expect from a four cylinder in an suv. So far my wife and I agree that this Tucson is hands down the best vehicle we have have ever owned!

Great Looking, Good in Snow, already had warranty
First off the 2022 Hyundai Tucson SEL is a great looking small SUV. I really like the styling. It also has impressed in the snow when we got a 10" dump here in SD. On the stock Michelin Primacy tires it did remarkably well. We upgraded to Michelin Cross Climate 2 tires for added piece of mind and haven't gotten any more snow since (go figure). Since we bought the Tuscon in Oct 2021 it has occasional misfires while driving it. It would feel like the transmission was slipping or hesitating but now I know it was the engine #2 cylinder misfiring. One day in Jan 2022 coming home from church the issue suddenly became significantly worse with loss of power and acceleration and the vehicle struggling to get up to 55 MPH. The next morning it stalled 3 times after starting it to go to work and would idle very rough (that made me know it was an engine issue and not transmission). On the way to work, it struggled again to gett up to speed, to accelerate and kept running rough. On the Interstate it wouldn't even get to 65 MPH and then was actually losing speed while my foot was to the floor. I pulled the gear selector over for manual mode and it immediately shifted down from 8th to 4th gear and I was in the mid 40 MPH range, again with my foot to the floor. So I dropped my wife off at work and drove to my job. That afternoon I had one heck of a time getting it started and keeping it running. I had to start it and keep it at about 3000 RPM. Finally made it to pick up my wife and again it was running very rough (4 month old and 2309 miles on the Odometer). So we went directly to the dealership and it's a good thing we did. I was only going to schedule a repair but the vehicle decided it wasn't going to leave the dealership parking lot so we had to get a ride home from the dealership (no loaner). We were told the next afternoon that it was a bad fuel injector. That part took over 3 weeks to arrive (from Canada, via Atlanta). We just picked up our hopefully fully repaired Tuscon yesterday. It's good to have our 2nd vehicle back. I am certainty not impressed with the issue happening so early. Or other vehicle is a 2021 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid Limited. We have now owned 6 Hyundai /Kia vehicles including 2 Sonatas, Rio, Elantra, Niro and the Tuscon.

Great improvements on Tucson
This is my third Tucson. I had a 2016, a 2018 and now a 2022 Hybrid SEL. I love the improvements Hyundai has made. The body style is absolutely awesome. The new head and tail lights are functional and very cool looking. The body moulding looks great and protects the paint along the bottom all around the vehicle. The Michelin all season tires and cool rims complete the hot looks on the outside of the Tucson. The interior is completely updated, also. So beautiful and comfortable! Never had a hybrid before but I get awesome gas mileage. The ride is very smooth. The 1.6 liter turbo motor has amazing pickup. Nothing sluggish about this SUV! Only 2 things I would change and they are incredibly minor- the console in the center of front seats is very roomy but there is no tray so all your stuff is just kinda in a jumble in there. I found one on Amazon that fits perfectly. The auto locks on the drivers side door are so sensitive that the car occasionally unlocks then locks again before you can open the door. Again both very minor issues. I love my new Tucson!

Worst decision I have ever made!
While Hyundai has a very good reputation and warranty if you happen to have gotten a 'lemon' don't expect either the dealer or Hyundai to honor the warranty. I liked the car but mine has had constant recurring computer problems that have put my life in danger multiple times. They only say 'if we can't duplicate the problem we can't fix it' which leaves me in a real world of hurt. Hyundai won't issue parts unless it can be (computer module) absolutely proven without a doubt that it's bad. I was service manager for years working with computer driven equipment and the only way to determine with certainty that it's bad is to replace it and find out. I called Hyundai's customer satisfaction line, got a case number and never heard back even after 4 calls to try and talk to someone. It seems that they have no interest in customer satisfaction. I'm now done with trying to communicate with Hyundai the car is so unsafe to drive that I spent $9000 to get out of it and got what I know is a good car - a Subaru Forester. Should have bought that to start with but the Tucson was much prettier.
