Good SUV
Hyundai continues to surprise. This is fine, reliable SUV. Packed with safety features and excellent build quality. Over 5 thousand miles and no problems. Gas mileage is good too. Between 25 and 30 mpg if you stay within speed limit. If Hyundai addresses road noise, ( loud on course pavement ) this vehicle will move to the top of the class.
Solid Built All Around Good Low Priced SUV
It’s tough to find negatives with this 2012 model vehicle. Purchased new 09/11, and still reliable as our Honda. Great gas mileage on open road - have seen 29mpg - but only around 21mpg city traffic driving due to low power motor w/6 speed automatic. Ours is a PZEV (partial zero emission vehicle), which sorta makes up for it’s lack of scootability. Over 45k Miles & still original tires and brakes. Quieter than our CRV Honda and smoother ride. Black paint finish still sparkles like new.

Love the car!
We purchased our 2012 Tuscon in around November of 2011. So far, we love the car. We haven't had a single issue and its a great car to drive. Its not fast but it does fine getting in and out of traffic. In city driving we get 25mpg almost every tank, sadly though we get just slightly better (27-28) on the highway at about 70-75mph. The interior quality is good for the price point of the car, it looks good and everything fits well. no rattles or anything so far and were at about 15k miles.
2012 Tuscon FRD w/ 149,000
Only repair was a failed fuel pump. Original ceramic brake pads still have >50% life

I LOVE my Hyundai!!
Before buying my hyundai in November 2011, I tested out a few other SUVs and out of all of them I loved the Tucson! I was given a really good price and was able to do a trade-in. I love traveling, so I'm always in my car. Very cozy, and I enjoy all of the accessories inside and out. There weren't too many color choices when picking out the vehicle, but I'm not complaining. I get compliments from everyone around town. I actually feel safe when I'm driving in the car. Very good choice when changing from a sedan to SUV! Now my SUV has tinted windows, street-glow and a system, which the vehicle handles everything VERY well! I've had the Tucson for 8.5 months and have gone about 11,500 miles
Can't stick to the road
My wife bought this 2012 Hyundai Tucson AWD new. I only drive it occasionally. Although she likes it, I avoid driving it as much as possible. The gas pedal and the brakes are both touchy, so I have a problem with smooth stopping and starting. The suspension is firm but poorly tuned, so the car hops and jolts if the pavement is the least bit rough. Adding to the control problem is poor damping of the steering, so that the front wheels are kicked left and right by uneven pavement. As a result, when the pavement is the least bit rough, not only does the car hop about, it also has a directional wobble that is difficult and tiring to control. The short wheelbase and top-heavy design don't help matters. On the plus side, the car has nice styling, plus a comfortable and attractive interior. The reliability has been great -- no repairs after 55,000 miles

Great Car with a couple of annoyances.
6 months & 4000 miles later ... All around performance is great. Gas mileage is a bit off the sticker's EPA estimate, but not by much. I wouldn't hesitate in buying another Hyundai.
Fun but needs more
I bought the Tuscon straight out of college, and it was the closest thing I could find to what I wanted in my budget. I would say it has a low-budget feel to the inside. If you do a lot of highway travel, it is loud. It could have used another layer of insulation on the bottom. After 70 mph there is a high squeal coming from somewhere in the window. The dealer hasn't been able to figure it out. There is also a smell of mildew in the car from the AC. Both things are apparently common, but the dealer hasn't been able to figure out. For the price point, its a great vehicle. I have moved large pieces of furniture. It's very spacious. It has some get up and go for a 4 cylinder.
Its an ok Smaller SUV Won't buy another Hyundai
I switched from my Chevy to the Tucson Because of the comfort of the ride & gas Mileage However the Noise from the road is Very Poor & gas isn't to bad. I bought a used one & have had some steering issues with clucking noises. But the dealers tell me they can't find anything I also have some vibration I thought it was the tires or rims Bought new tires & had Balanced & Alignment done & it's still there. No other front end parts are bad to cause this issues. Stereo sound is good navigation is slow but ok Bluetooth is good location of controls on steering is ok But could be rethought about Over All : it's ok But won't buy another !

Don't buy! Complete Engine failure @ 75000 miles
Aside from poor power, noisy interior it wasn't a bad car... until the engine spun a bearing at 120000 km (75000 miles). Absolute junk

Seized engine
I just bought a '12 Tuscon trusting that after glowing reviews. 2 days later the engine seized with no notice except dash light indicating it was running hot. After bing towed to dealership found out it needs a new engine. Carfax only indicated an open recall for oil pan. I made an appointment for that to be taken care of. Never made it there. Hyundai dealership says the car is not on recall list. My '08 Santa Fe 6 cyl. has stalled several times in the last couple years for no reason. This complaint to the company has also gotten no where. I won't buy another Hyundai after I can get rid of these. I guess I'm lucky that the dealership where I bought this car will replace the engine but I'll have to pay $2000 towards it. When test driving the Tuscon the engine sounded perfect. There was no indication of a problem. Everyone beware of these cars.

Tuscon: Overpriced Disappointment
I purchased a Tuscon because I wanted the style and improved gas mileage over my heavy Chevy. I had owned a number of Hyundai vehicles and had largely been pleased with them. Two Sante Fes and the Luxury Hyundai. This vehicle did not match up. My son said, "You don't drive this car. It drives you." Constantly have to correct steering. Can't control acceleration. Won't accerate, then takes off whining. I was happy the day I bought it and the day you sell (albeit at a loss). Miserable in between. Dealer unable to remedy any of the complaints. Sold at 12,000 miles. Whew. Will never buy another Hyundai. Got my Equinox back and love it as well at the real 32 mpg.
2012 Tucson Limited FWD
Owned for 7 months, have racked up 14000 miles. As weather conditions vary in central Midwest, it's handled well in snow. Safety features, quality all positives. Just returned from 3500 mile driving vacation, avg'd 29.7 mpg - included interestate, local hwy and city driving. We were very pleased with performance & comfort. Suspension would be a bit better (for Arizona hwy driving--roads stink) and some road noise but not so bad as to want to trade. Yes, there are blindside issues but I've gotten use to them & have adjusted. At purchase, very few colors available - mostly all dark - I couldn't get my 1st or 2nd color choice.
Engine blew up!
They have had problems with these motors, know about it, but have not taken any action. Our engine "blew-up" with less than 70,000 miles on it and if not for the extended warranty we purchased it would have cost us over $6,000 to replace the engine. Would never buy another as they have a problem, yet have not done anything to help the consumer. They have recalled and replaced some car engines as they have had trouble with these as well. Warning! Stay away from this company as they do not back-up their product.

Complete piece of crap car!! Never again!
Driving this boring car is almost as much fun as watching grass grow. Hopelessly underpowered, it takes forever to get up to highway speed, and merging into highway traffic is a religious experience. The ignition often doesn't want to release the key, resulting in the epic "man vs machine" battle. The bolt holding the driver's seat in place on its track has come out on its own several times, leaving the seat at the lowest position, which is lovely if you are tall or don't mind sitting on the floor. This car has a rough buckboard ride. Driving in the rain with the standard tires is rather unnerving as the car feels as though it is slipping and sliding rather than rolling smoothly forward. Long story short, this car is a complete piece of crap! You couldn't give me another Hyundai product. Second Hyundai vehicle -- second terrible vehicle! Never again! Buyer beware!!!

My 2012 Tucson story
My Wife and I bought a new 2012 Hyundi Tucson on Dec 28 from San Francisco Hyundi. Less than 3 three months later the engine needed to be replaced because the engine gasket was bad and leaked coolant into the engine. The only thing everyone cared about was what Hyundi Motors Company said. The service department knew what the problem and the solution was, but they were told to wait by Hyundi Motors Company until the gasket could get tested. Hyundai motors wanted to make sure they knew what the problem was. I didn't buy this car from Hyundai so they could keep it in the shop testing it. They could have at least filled my tank when they were done fixing it.
Love It
I've owned my 2012 Tucson GLS for two months now and just love it ! It handles well..rides great..and just an all around in & out attractive vehicle. Is it the quietest..or the smoothest..or have all the bells and whistles..NO, but it didn't cost me 45,000 or more either ! The mileage is VERY close to what is stated, I'm getting 21-22 around town. I have the Iris Blue and get compliments on the car all the time. I have no complaint at all. Worth the money.
Hundai Motors Totally Unresponsive
My all wheel drive lights keeps coming on. The handbook says do not drive but take car for service. We did four times. Our local dealer will not fix it. Hundai headquarters keeps lying to us. Does not call, tells us they have written to us on Oct. 18. Letter never arrived. Now we have filed the Lemon Law. This is my second Hundai but I will never buy another one if they do not fix this. Now I do not know if my all wheel drive will protect me when winter comes again. I had been in Arizona the last winters, so don't really know if this is a serious problem or not but why would the handbook say it is a problem? Hundai will not help you! Be forewarned.

My New Vehicle
The Tucson is a very stylish midsize crossover. I love the look of this vehicle, its still hard for me to believe its a Hyundai. The only downfall so far in the seating....the seat needs to be a little wider so the seatbelt won't dig into your hips.
Very reliable SUV!
175k miles without mayor repairs. Only change AC compressor at 160k.Premium fuel and Mobil synthetic oil maintenance. Slow when taking corners.Good fuel economy.Changed engine and cabin air filter every year.
Big boyz chariot
After College sports, wear n tear, and neck surgery and both hips replaced, the Tuscon awd wa as a great fit. At the beach In North Carolina and Pittsburgh snow n ice storms.

Reliable vehicle
I traded a 2005 Ford Escape XLT for a 2012 Hyundai Tucson GLS in 2017. It's a nice compact suv. I've never been a leather seat kind of person, but because it has heated seats, I was willing to give it a chance to change my mind. Performance wise, it doesn't take much for it to go anywhere. It's a very reliable vehicle, but it has a few flaws. First, it lacks enough cargo space. My car has electrical issues when it comes to power windows. My biggest issue is major brake problems. I've had to have brakes replaced multiple times every 3 to 6 months. Its getting to be an expensive problem that I can't afford to keep much longer.
