Hyundai Tucson
I bought the Tucson because of Hyundai's warranty. I bought the 4-cylinder because I hoped it would save on gas. I was wrong...it gets HORRIBLE mileage. I get 16-19 MPG consistently...which is lousy and not what was advertised. It has 34000 on it now and is falling apart. I take very good care of my vehicles, but it doesn't seem to make a difference with this one. I would not buy a Hyundai again.
Fun while it lasted
I loved my Tucson, disappionte in milage, but fun to drive. Great amount of room for luggage for a week trip with a family of 5 (2 teenage boys and husband all 6'+). Last week was t- boned and rolled, landing of the roof. I walked away without a scratch, a few bumps. Side air bags went off. The 5-star crash rating seems to be deserved. Will probably buy another one.

I love it!!
For my first car I had the accent and i wanted something bigger. So i shopped around and the Tucson was what I was looking for. Good Pricing and a great SUV by far. No one could do better. I'm with the rest of you, if milage is all your worried about get a car. The bigger the more mileage.. duh. I really like the Tucson.
A compact SUV just as I wanted
I bought my car four months ago. It is a car exactly I wanted, a mainly city SUV that can be also be used to carry my ski equipment in snowy Canadian winter and camping bags in muddy summer. My Tucson is a quiet, responsive, reliable, spacious, and comfortable car that has almost all I need. It comes with 4WD, V6, stability control, shiftronic, front/side/roof air bags, leather seats, moon roof, mp3 player, roof racks, fog lights, alloy wheels, and much more. For a compact SUV, you cannot expect more. It does not just have COMPARABLE quality. Its build quality can beat many other cars carrying more recognized bands. I will not hesitate to recommend it to anyone.
GREAT SUV
This S U V is great on gas!!! We traded a Toyota FourRunner for a Tucson and we are delighted to save so much money on gas.I also se it necessary to mention the nice ride the Tucson provides.I never thought I would own a Hyundai but i am pleased to say that this Tucson is the best all round purchase my mother and i have ever made.Where in the world are you going to find a 60,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty?!?!?! I rate everything about this SUV a 9.5 .
Nice Ride, Poor Mileage
I love the Tuscon. It's versatile, it fits all of my needs for around town and trips. Plenty of room to add on: roof rack, trailer hitch, etc. My only complaint is that not once have we gotten the advertised mileage. We mostly use it in the city, but our mileage hasn't been above 15 mpg, far enough below the advertised 19mpg that we were promised. All in all, not a bad car for your buck. Far more features for less than the competetor's price.
My First SUV
I purchased my Tuscon in November of 2005 and absolutely love it! I have always wanted an SUV and this fit my budget and the safety ratings sealed the deal. It was wonderful in the snow and ice this past winter and has driven beautifully on the beach this summer. I love the fold flat back seats and my kids like the fact that the back seats recline back a bit. I do wish it had better gas milage. It really only gets driven around town and the mileage is up to 17.5. Also, I find the center arm rest great for storage, my not so much for resting my arm! Needs to be higher and more forward. I would buy another SUV from Hyundai anytime :)
Good Value-Weak Engine
I like everything about this vehicle except the engine- I bought it for the overall value (safety especially-air bags/stability control, etc.) and I am very satisfied- got the V6 for more performance but it's still weak and only 20mpg- It's still a good value vs. competitors.
Love it, love it, love it!
I've only had this SUV a few months but I find that it is the perfect fit for me. I wanted something with more cargo room than my previous car but didn't want to be driving a ship. The Tucson fits the bill. It has a ton of cargo room when needed as all of the seats except for the driver's fold completely flat. This is done easily, too. It handles well and has a very tight turning radius. The sound system is excellent and the back seat is comfortable.
Best value for the money
I had previous cars and this one beats them all. I mainly purchased this vehicle for safety reasons (air bags) and the warranty coverage. To top it off Hyundai recalls are almost nil and none for Tucsons. I used to believe in American cars but my last one had five recalls in two years and they were all safety related (Ford)! And one prior also had multiple recalls (Pontiac). I just got tired of going back to the dealer and waste my time on things that were supposed to be done right the first time. Japanese recalls are on the rise. Hyundai quality has really improved and since money is tight these days, I can't afford to spend it frivilously. It is the best bang for the buck.
better mpg
i have owned my gls for a little over 2 monthes now and so far it has been good except for the gas mileage. it is rated between 19-24 mpg and have yet to reach even 19 mpg despite moderate driving. even on the highway only 18 mpg which bothers the heck out of me. other than the mpg is been a fun car to drive.
Great Little SUV
This is a great budget line SUV that is well designed and tastefully appointed. My other car is a BMW and while this is not an X3 it is a really nice vehicle for the price. Traction control, side impact and head curtain airbags, tiptronic transmission, seats that fold flat, great towing capacity.... The list goes on and on. I only wish the gas mileage were better. I consistently average 21mpg in a 70/30 mix of highway / city driving, and I avoid rapid accelleration.
2006 Tucson
Fun to drive and cute too. I am very happy I purchased this vehicle. I would definitely buy another one. She turns on a dime and very easy to maneuver. Shifts smooth and the clutch is real easy. LOVE the stereo and all the 'standard features'. Excellent for the money! Can't wait for snow!
Used to have a RAV4
Traded my RAV4 in for the Tuscon because of all the added features on the Tuscon, the warranty, and the great things I had heard from friends about Hyundai. I love it. It's a solid SUV, perfect size for travel & carrying. Very roomy. Great handling. I really like the V6 which may not be as peppy as some but perfect for driving to & from CA on the 15 which has some crazy drivers.
Very Pleased
I have been nothing but satisfied with my purchase. I bought the car a week ago and it has been great. I expected the weak fuel economy, but it offers a roomy interior with great lines, and awesome styling on the exterior. I bought the Limited model and it comes with more bells and whistles then my parents Lexus Rx300, which cost almost 10,000 dollars more USED. This car will be with me well into the future, if you just bought one, hope you enjoy it as much as myself.
Cheap tires
I am writing to warn others. I have 28,600 miles on my original tires and had to be replaced today. I am disappointed in the quality of the tires on this vehicle and live and learn, I will look into this the next time I buy a car. So buyer be ware! If they are under warranty, I bet I would play ---- getting anything out of the company. I have read other reviews about this and now I can confirm it.
surprised
i down sized from a full size pick up truck for fuel economy. It has a smooth ride ,good visibility a bit under powered but i really like the shift tronic transmision. if you need to pass down shift and punch it,or for steep hills it can slow you down without using the brakes. so far its fun to drive and feels good.i get a lot looks and questions about it ,i have the black on black with rear tint
Best vehicle for the money
The beginning of the year I had my eye on the small Lexus SUV. I waited until Nov to check it out. Then went to see the Tucson. Within 2 weeks we decided to make an offer to test drive it and ultimately purchased the vehicle. The personnel were by far the most honest and experienced. The process went very smoothly and did not have to wait for any unnecessary time frame. We couldn't have asked for a more uncomplicated and smooth process. I'd highly recommend this dealership; and, more importantly, the TUCSON as the absolute best buy for the money. I tell you what, you will change your mind just as I did once you give this SUV a chance. So, check it our for yourself. I highly recommend it.
I am satified with my investment
I have driven my Tucson for about 1300 mils now and I am fully satisfied. Fuel economy is a bit low in city but its a V6 so I am ok. Every thing is standard so what I feel that its value for money. No need to pay around two or three grands extra for Honda or Toyota.
happy hyundai owner
My Tucson has certainly pleased me. Good quality automobile, fun to drive, live in the Tahoe area and handles snow storms like a champ.
Surprising Quality & Value !
Only driven 500 miles, but very impressed by the ride, abundance of amenities & overall performance -- it looks & feels larger than a compact SUV & the great warranty is an added bonus. The silver ext. with dark grey leather is very attractive & easy to keep clean. Toyota & Honda better stay on their toes cuz Hyundai is on the way up & has great financial resources to compete with them. Way to go Hyundai!!
Probably not
Bought the GLS 6 cyl new from dealer. Very reliable for the first three years I owned it. Good driver's visibility. Not exciting to drive, and not very fuel efficient (for 3500 lbs). Puny V6 engine. Useless rear trunk cover. Tire pressure light too sensitive. Ride was a little smoother carrying a full load vs. traveling light.
Gets Better Every Year
This is my third purchase. The Tucson has more power than the Santa Fe, better handling and exterior styling. The options can't be beat. One drawback though is low fuel economy.
All-Around Affordable Quality
My wife and I purchased a 2006 Hyundai Tucson Limited and we love it. The car is by far the most quality small SUV for the price on the market. We are both commuters who travel frequently and in a variety of weather conditions. The Tucson has performed phenomenally in snow, on mountain highways, and it is fun to drive from interstates to small country roads. The price, all of the features, the performance, the look, the warranty, and the comfort of the limited make it the best vehicle we have ever had. It has the look and the feel of a Lexus, with the best warranty around and every where we go people comment on how great it looks. This is an outstanding SUV - you will love it!
Hyundai just earned a loyal customer
I never thought I'd own a Hyundai but after driving it, pricing it out at $7,000 LESS than a similarly-equipped 06 Toyota RAV-4 Limited V6, and examining the unbelievable warranty (100,000 miles on the powertrain), I was sold. I got a great deal, too, under invoice. Unless you're worried about overpaying for a nameplate to impress your neighbors, this is a no- brainer if you want a small SUV.
Great Little SUV
I have only had my Suv about 2 months & I love it so far. My grandkids said I was a cool grandma, they love it too. So far I am pleased with it, I also agree could get better gas miliage. Although its not bad. I love driving it!
JUst blown away!
I was looking to purchase the Santa Fe originally but once I saw the Tucson up close and drove it, I had to have it! I anticipated the vehicle to be as small inside as it is on the outside but boy was I wrong! It has a big truck feel for sure! There is ample room inside for hauling whatever within reason. The 2.7 V6 has nice power and acceleration plus the tranny is smooth and tight. Mine is the 4x4 model which operates at 90% front wheel drive and 10% rear unless you go 50/50 with the push button. The traction contriol system with the 4 wheel ABS works great! It keeps the truck very stable. The overall look of the vehicle is outstanding! I've had people think it was a BMW X3 already!
How I perceive my Hyundai Tucson
I love driving my vehicle, it offers a very smooth ride and feels very safe and strong. It is quiet, and operates very efficiently.
The Tucson is #1!
I had a full size van for the last 11 years. I was unable to decide on the type of car I wanted to replace it. After seeing and driving the Tucson, my mind was made up! It is so easy to get in and out of. I have back and leg problems, and this vehicle had everything I was looking for. Style, comfort and ease. I love this vehicle and recommend it to all!!!!
Best Value Suv I ever owned
I love my Tuscon it takes me everywhere that I need to go without hesitation. It drives really smooth and handles really well. I can pretty much say that I got my monies worth when I purchased it. I don't think that I would be getting rid of my vehicle any time soon. My Tuscon is Obsidian Black and I have 20" Chrome wheels on it. it makes it look like one buffed out Suv. I recieve a lot of compliments about how nice it looks and I even have people stop me and ask me questions like how does it ride and how do I like it and I tell them that I love it and it rides really well. They say that they never seen an suv like mine on the road and I reply I know thats why I'm proud to own it.
Actually the top 2005 LX 4WD
We love it. We replaced my wife's 2000 Jeep Cherokee and we are very impressed. More head and leg room, better vis, and all at the same overall length (+/- a tiny inch or so). If you are a young family with multiple car seats, playpens and baby stuff to haul, it may not fill the bill. But for my wife's everyday round-town, it is perfect. Remember, most of the folks that report to CR are usually those that are unhappy for both small and big reasons. Personally, if interior noice is rated at 92dbs or 94 dbs or whatever, it is typically meaningless to me. Great car, great ride and great value...we researched them all.
2006 Hyundai Tucson
I have only had this Tucson for a few months but I feel it's one of the best values you can get in a SUV. It has more than enough power gets great mileage and good looks.
A winner!
I bought this because I was concerned about safety issues, and the standard 6 airbags appealed to me. The standard warranty offered was very good and the price was certainly right. Overall, I've been pleasantly surprised at how much fun this car has been to drive. Runs well, though a little noisy. Good road-view and manueverability. Basic sound system is better than that on my wife's Toyota. Only disappointment has been the fuel mileage -- good but not great. This is my first Hyundai, and I would look at another one again without question. Great value for the money.
Still Early But
I have only had for a month, but my wife and i love it. It seems to be very well built handles great, very quiet and has all the safety features and warranty at a fair price.I am getting over 21 mpg in city. Driving Florida To Md. in August, and looking forward to it. I sold autos for 15 years and would recomend this vehicle to everyone!
Great Car, Great Deal, Great Dearship!
I drive over 70 miles a day to and from work. This car is great on gas milage, confort and performance. I bought it in October of 2005 and have put about 11000 miles on it already. It runs real quite too. I have enjoyed owning this car a lot!
Big Car for Little Money
I love my car. I used to own a van and was not ready to go back into a vehicle. This sport utility is great.
What A Deal!!
How can you beat this suv for the price and the warrenty is untouchable? Drove em all and dollar for dollar this is the top dog by far! Still can't believe it is so much car for so much less.
great value
only has it 2 weeks but am pleased over all with the Tucson
2006 Tucson gls
I have found that you feel every bump in the road. I did not realize this when I purchased it. It is a very nice vehicle to own other than that.
Great car for a great price!
Watch out Toyota and Honda! Hyundai makes a quality vehicle for an unbeatable price. I got ALL the options on the Tuscon -- leather, sunroof, etc. -- for thousands less than a similarly equipped Rav4 or CRV. Plus, the sporty design of the car makes it look more like a luxury SUV than the typical clunky and square SUVs. I have gotten numerous compliments on this great car. You can't beat the price, warranty and quality of a Hyundai!
Far superior value to Toyota or Honda
After extensive research & lots of hoofing it on foot in car lots, & many test drives the Tucson rose to the top like cream. The Honda CR-V is ugly & uncomfortable, the RAV-4 was *way* overpriced & lacked features we wanted & the Toyota dealers were arrogant beyond belief. As soon as we drove the Tucson, it was obvious. Super quality build, all the features one could ever need (Even in the bottom of the line GL trim we purchased), & most importantly, safety features beyond compare. Throw in the warranty & it is a no brainier. I find it hard to believe anyone would buy an RAV-4, which is overpriced to start then the dealer wants list price. Yeah right, I'll take my Hyundai thank you.
2006 Tuscon
We bought a five speed Tuscon for it's price and fuel economy. We love it. It is so much fun to drive and gets so much better fuel economy than the last three automatic transmission Ford Escapes I have had. I love the side view mirror defrost feature and the cargo area liner; it's great to just lift up and dirt falls off versus having to vac carpet every time you purchase plants for your garden and bring them home. It's so easy to keep clean and has lots of wonderful little features that you wouldn't expect for the price!
Could be better
I am pleased with the overall value of my Tucson ,but the mileage it is getting is a big disappointment. But besides that, I am very happy with my decision to buy the Tucson.
Took a chance on a Tuscon
I bought the Tuscon over a Honda CRV because it was almost $3000 less and it provided a smoother ride and was conquerly equipped. The seats collapse all the way down whereas in the Honda they remained bend up slightly when folded down. My only disappointment is the fuel consumption, rounding out at 24mpg and the low HP at 173. These are two big sacrifices to make in buying the six cylinder. Otherwise the vehicle is quite nice.
It is a nice fit
The Tucson is a nice fit for a small family. Has plenty of leg room, head room and storage for everyone. Performance wise I find that it has been somewhat difficult to start and stay running. It just doesn't want to start some days and acts like its flooded. This is the only problem Ive had. Otherwise it has been great.
OK, but
the SUV does not even get close to the est. milage. It would be better if they changed the gear ratios or make it a 4 speed trans. Other then that it is fun to drive. I had a 4cyl. and traded up to the 6 after a road trip. The 4 gets better milage but does not go up hill and was very loud when going 65mph. I purchased because of safety features and the warrenty. My other Suv was 2 years old,
My Tuscon
I bought this as a in town run-a-round. I have found this to be a excelent choice for this. I have used the load area twice and have found the flat folding seats easy to lower and raise. The MPG is holding at arround 19 MPG of intown driving. I have curently 1500 miles on it and am pleased with my choice.
Well Satisfied
I purchased my Hyundai Tuscon about 6 months ago. I have been nothing but pleased. The vehicle is fun to drive, roomy and certainly is a good value for the money. No other SUV can match this one for features for the money and sporty appearance. The warranty is a big plus though haven't had even the first problem.
buy it
great suv fun to drive, decent mpg, easy to maintain.very roomy and great design on the folddown seats.buy one,you won't find a better value in a suv.
great suv
Fun to drive. The unique auto-shifter is a plus when driving around town and the way it automatically downshifts when you slow down is great.
