hyundai suv rating
purchased the vehicle due to satisfaction with the previous purchase of a 2004 accent (new), same dealer. Hyundai is on par with honda & toyota as far as I'm concerned regarding quality, performance and reliability. Dealer satisfaction is also high. The warranty exceptional and the additional bumper to bumper warranty is very reasonable. When shopping, the honda salesperson said Hyundai has to give a 10 yr warr. that Honda products are superior, so I ask, if Honda is so certain regarding it's products, why not offer the 10 yr warr., guess what, the salesperson had no answer. I'll stick with Hyundai for mileage and reliabilty.
incredible value; better than a minivan
I had been driving a minivan for the last 17 years. From the first time I sat in the Tucson, I basically fell in love with it! I thought the Ford Aerostar was the best vehicle ever. However, I changed my mind within the first week of owning and driving the Tucson! Everything about it is just right. Not too big, not too small. Very comfortable. I also like all the safety features and the terrific warranty you get with the vehicle! I'm hooked and look forward to many years of fun driving!!

Class of Its Own
After a year of searching... Needing something larger for my business, switching from a 4dr Corolla to an SUV, my searches for something with equal or better quality for a price that wasn't going to bust my bank account, the Tucson gives me everything the others do, at close to half the price. A Highlander equally equiped had a sticker shock of 34K (not kidding either), was quickly x'd off the my list once I got into the Tucson. The interior has that roooomy but cozy feeling. It's solid and drives great. My neighbor is envy.
WHAT a Car!
I've owned my Tucscon just a little over a year and absolutely love it for so many reasons...1) it's comfortable; 2) it's storage - that's AMAZING...it is like an optical illusion, so much can fit into that car with the seats down, it's unbelieveable. This is my second Hyundai and while I initally bought for value, I will continue to purchase cars by this manufacturer because my experience have been nothing but positive!
Best buy...period !
After owning nothing but GM automoblies and having nothing but problems, I did my research and bought a Hyundai. The warranty proves a company is not afraid to stand behind the QUALITY of its vehicles. Gas mileage has been decent for an SUV. I average 20 in the city and recently took a trip to S.C. from Il.and was shocked to see an avg. of 26 miles a gallon! I will recommend the Tucson and Hyundai to everyone. Very comfortable, holds alot of cargo with seats folded down, and drives as smooth as many cars I have owned. Overall, a very plesant experience. Build, fit and finish, ease of use are all proof of a leader in the industry trying to satisfy customers.
My 2005 Tucson
The best feature about this vehicle is the air conditioning system. It has hands down the coldest system I ever had in a car. Temperatures several degrees over 100 outside and the cabin is easily between 70 and 75. The worst feature - relative poor gas mileage (2.7L) for a small SUV. real fuel mileage in the city about 20 MPG, highway about 23 MPG.
Happy owner
Vehicle fitted with lift for my electric scooter. The performanc has not been hurt with wth the extra weight. The only fault I found is the LCD clock, Totaly unreadable.
Great ride
I purchased a 4 cylinder 2 liter automatic. It has a very comfortable ride like a car, smooth not bumpy. A lot of interior space. It is just me in it most of the time but I don't have to rely on asking someone to pick up large items for me. Once you've had an SUV, it would be very hard to go back to a car. This is perfect size.
Best car for the money
I think this car is one of the best cars I've driven in quite a while. It has great pick up for a SUV. I also like the warranty. It is definitely a car I would buy again.
Love it!
Traded in my 2002 Accent for it. Very good ride, not too rough, not too soft. Has right amount of "road feel" in steering. Plenty of room for cargo.
Incredible Buy
Bought the vehicle 2 years ago and have had absolutely no problems with it at all. It is a great vehicle to run around the city in.
would buy again
very pleased had vehicle over 2 years only problem was small lite out on shift console -had numerus ford products 17 they can't compare!!
Tuscon Regrets
Very dissapointing gas mileage, not 22 MPG as quoted, more like 17 MPG. Engine performance leave much to be desired, always doggin. This vehicle did not hold it's value, purchased at $18,7k, at trade only worth 10k (and I shopped it around)!
Updated 05 Tucson GLS review
I've had the Tuc for a year and 7 months/18,500 miles now. I do like the car overall. The main problem is GAS MILEAGE. Check a few Tucson forums and you will find this is a major complaint. I get about 14mpg city! That is unacceptable. Hyundai has to address this, there IS a problem. I've also had a couple problems(A/C system almost caught fire) that required dealer attention. Other than this, I really enjoy the Tucson. Great looking, inside is very nice and well thought out, & all the standard safety features make this a great value Also, if you run into snow where you live, get the AWD. I wish I did now. PS to some other posters-I don't think the sideview mirrors are heated.
my first hyundai
This was a great experience. It was a lot more than I expected. I remember the old Hyundai's and this is not that car
I'd recommend Hyundai
Very dependable and peppy - great interior features design. If the Santa Fe would have had better styling at the time, I would have enjoyed the extra cargo space. But, this has been a great vehicle to date!
I love my Tucson!
I absolutely love this car! It handles great in the snow and has a really smooth ride in all kinds of weather. I love all of the safety features that come standard with this car and it rides better than comparable Hondas. You get a lot for the money. To me it seems like it's worth twice what I paid. The only problem I've had is that a sensor switch went and had to be replaced and I also need to have my radio/cd player replaced. But it's under warranty, so that's OK.
Driving 2005 Tucson
I have been driving 2005 Tucson GL for 2 and a half years now, and it has been great experience! Just a regular oil changes and brake pads after 40,000, but I think it's becasue of hilly areas that we're in. We (my wife and I) drove it around quite a bit, to Chicago to Virginia, and it's really fun to drive both city and highway. It's still quiet, and has lots of room. I was so please with lots of space (both rear seats and a passenger side seat can be completely folded) when I moved after the purchase. Mine is a front wheel drive, but it was quite fun to drive on snowy roads, especially electric stability system was great when I drove the hilly drive ways.
Excellent budget choice
We have had this SUV for 37K miles and 3 years. An excellent choice - we are now buying a new Hyundai Santa Fe. You get so much more for your money, and the quality is similar to Toyota or Honda. I know because I really checked this out. This car has been a really solid performer and reliable - we will keep in the family instead of selling it. for those who complain about the car, you need to take care of anything mechanical, and of course you need to compare to others in the class.
Only if hell freezes over
Only if hell freezes over will I ever buy another Hyundai. I purchased this vehicle new and the sales person knew that my work required a lot of travel. I bought it and like most people it was for the warranty, However I have learned buyer beware on that. the Maintenance schedule and cost are ridiculous, the mpg sucks. I have had to purchase two sets of tires because of wear, alignments were done each time. the ESP Light comes on and goes off whenever it likes, none of the Hyundai mechanics can seem to figure it out. the car has spent more time in the garage than on the road in my book. and hyundia usa customer service likes to pass the buck whenever possible.
Great all round SUV
I like the Tucson. Have 33K on it and have not had a single mechanical problem. Stock tires gave out at 25K. Excellent in wet weather and snow- better than my GMC Yukon. Great for my wife since the 4x4 just kicks in when needed. Average 22mpg, best I ever got was 25mpg on a trip. Comfortable for short trips and long ones also. Took on a 1500 mile trip to Canada- did great. Would recommend.
Ruby
I love my car, though it looks like a rhinoceros. Lots of interior room, great Heat & A/C. Smooth, quiet ride. Inexpensive enough that I am not paranoid about keeping in shiny. Good automobile for a gal looking for a SUV.
2005 Tucson 2.0 4cyl
We bought this car used many years ago with already high mileage of about 150k miles. Since then, it's been a daily driver and we haven't had any problems with it whatsoever, I'm genuinely surprised. Only things we have done to it is regular maintenance. As of 12/2019 the car is still running strong, no Check engine lights, and it has about 281k on the odometer.

Tucson Bond
As a primarily sports-sedan driver, the more I drive my Tucson, the more I am bonding to it. Surprising number of luxury design features, including heated leather seats, reclining rear seats, hard-shell rear compartment cover, hidden full-size spare tire, dual opening rear hatch/glass. Contemporary styling both interior and exterior. User-friendly interior design and controls, with easy accessiblity to compartments and storage. Generous standard warranty.
Middle East Tuscon User- Desert- City
Great. Use it in the desert in deep sand without any problems...as long as I remember to reduce the air in my tires. Use it on steep mountain roads. And in the city. lots of room...all seats fold right down flat including front. all passengers have told me they feel comfy. Have put 50,000 kms in one year...and am a girl !
New Hyundai Tucson
A totally fresh vehicle! looks fantastic compared to the Mazda Tribute or the Ford Escape this is sure to be a winner. Driving is a pleasure, the V6 engine delivers good performance and the transmission is very smooth (as in common with other Hyundai products) Rear seats fold down easily, overall this is a very user friendly comapct SUV, added to this the peace of mind of the long warranty from Hyundai....a win win for the consumer!
Perfect Fit for my family
Affordable!
8 Month update
I have had my Tucson since Aug, and have put about 12,000 miles on it so far. Most of it on the Washington DC Beltway and 1 long trip. Overall very satisfied. Very responsive (for an SUV), never felt out of control, enjoyed the sound system. I really believe it has about the best balance of styling and features. NO real complaints. Mileage could be better, sure, but hey I knew what I was getting when I bought it so no complaints from me.
Never again...
At first I enjoyed the vechile, until the interior parts such as the ashtray (broke 2 times) the sunglass holder broke. I have also had ongoing fuel system problems with leaks that the dealer can never seem to fix and keeps giving it back broken. I am not happy with the fit and finish of the vechile I think they could have used better material. But i guess you get what you pay for. But i will have to definatly say never buy a vechile from the Atlantic Automall in West Islip. Terrible Service, terrible sales, they told me they were going to include a better warranty on the vechile. I ended up paying for it without even knowing. Not happy. I guess i bought a lemon
