What a GREAT car!!!
Before buying a Tuscon I test-drove Honda's CR-V, Toyota's RAV4, Saturn's VUE, Honda's Element, Chevy Blazer - none can hold a candle to the Tuscon. A smooth, QUIET ride was a must for me; it gives by far the most solid-feeling, quiet ride. Everything about it feels "sound" - even the doors close w/ a solid sound. Love this car!
Great value for money
I have had my Tucson now for 2 months and I LOVE IT! For 2 years I had a Honda CR-V and I have to say the Tucson is a much better value for the money! The Tucson offers much nicer "standard" options and rides like a dream. I love the fact that I have four wheel drive and the warranty is definitely a value! I also love my heated leather seats in the Winter! Even my parents are impressed! Thank you Hyundai!

great car poor gas mileage
I fell in love with the car the moment I saw it, it has nice styling and you get alot for the money, (options, air bags, etc.) however I've been extremely disappointed with the gas mileage only averasging about 10mpg considerably less then I was promised. When you speak with the dealership they tell you it takes 10000 miles to break in the car. Who ever heard of such nonsense. The car also pulls to the right and they tell me thats from the angle of the road for water drainage. again nonsense answer. Very pretty and roomy car but very poor service from the dealewrship which is very disappointing. To make this a better brand Hyundai needs to rein in its dealers for better service.
First SUV
Saw the Tucson at an auto show. We had just purchased a new Elantra for my husband and were picking it up when I sat in the Tucson to see how it felt. Really liked it. I traded in my 2003 Sonata GLS that was wonderful for the Tucson that I fell in love with. It handles well and is a pleasure to drive. Roominess is great. I'm 6' and my husband is 6'3".
Goodbye Elantra..... Hello Tucson!
Having traded in my '02 Elantra GT Hatch for the Tucson, I was amazed at what Hyundai had done with their newest SUV! I love the additional performance I get from the 2.7 V-6, as opposed to my previous 2.0 4-Banger. The interior is laid out so "User- Friendly", and pleasant to look at. Everything is right where you need it! I thoroughly enjoy the height increase, that I get going from a sedan to a SUV. I can actually see the traffic ahead now. The ease of the seats folding down, including the front passengers seat back, was a big seller for me. The added bonus of 10 airbags, ABS/TCS/ESP, was the main reason I purchased. Not to mention that my insurance went down $25 from the Elantra.
Tucson
I've been driving this car for about a month and really like it. It's comfortable, handles well and has a lot of useful features.
Ode To My Tucson
I purchased my vehicle 2 weeks ago, I love it very much. Its roomy, but not huge. It only takes up one parking space and i can reverse easily and see out all of the windows clearly. The controls are great I feel like i am sitting a BMW truck.
Tucson it will grow on you
I bought this suv under the thought of dependability, and not soly on it`s looks.I did not want a large payment and felt this vehecle offered a lot of safety with the six air bags standard. But know that Ive owned it for a short while I like the looks and love driving it. I drove the tucson in nasty weather and it handled great. This vehicle that i bought was a gls v-6 4wd .My only regret is that i should of shoped a little more for a better price. The dealership had only two at the time I purchased it.
LX doing just fine, thank you
We purchased our LX at Thanksgiving last November and have taken it on a couple of cross-country trips already. We really like the heated seats and mirrors here in Chicagoland, and our fuel economy has been in the 21-22 mpg range commuting, and 23-24 on the highway going cross country. Build quality is very good, and having electronic stability control is a great plus.Love the 6 airbags. I'd like if it had a little more horsepower, but it accelerates okay, and runs happy and pretty quiet at highway speeds. I recommend this vehicle to those that want alot of "extras", but don't want to pay alot to have them. We chose this vehicle over Rav4, CRV, and Escape. 10yr/100000 mile warranty too!
Great except, is gas mileage overstated?
I enjoy the drive experience. The vehicle feels high quality and well put together. I like the relatively short vehicle length with the small turning radius making it easy to park, maneuver, and fit in the garage. I like everthing except the gas mileage. I got 15.5 mpg in my day to day city driving and 18 mpg on my combined city highway. I saw some write-ups stating that city mileage should be 20 minimum and others saying it should be 19 minimum (my window sticker). I must admit I really enjoy the vehicle but if the window sticker would have stated 15 mpg city, I would not have purchased it. I have owned the vehicle for 3 weeks and have put about ~650 miles on it. (GLS 4WD 2.7L).
Happy Tucson owner!
This is the first time in 33 years we did not buy a Buick. This SUV is great. It rides like a car... it doesn't feel huge or bulky. It handles beautifully; visibility is excellent compared to other SUV's we drove.
Won't be my last Hyundai!!
Have driven Saturns exclusively since 1992, Have had my Tucson for 3 months. My wife drives a 2003 Vue. She has bad knees and I needed to replace my Saturn SL2 for somthing that she could easily get in and out of. This is a very comfortable ride for her. Tucson has it all over the Vue...including price. Can't make a true price comparison because the Vue doesn't even have some of the features available on the Tucson (ie.; 6 air bags, lengthy warranty, stability control).
Awesome
We have had the Tucson for about a month and a half...I have already taken a 2000 mile trip....what a great vehicle. The only challange I forsee is being able to get the Tucson away from my wife. We live in Michigan and we can't wait to see how it handles in our winters. With all of its safety features it is very reassuring for my wife to drive. This is our first foreign vehicle.....but if this is any indication.....it will not be our last. The dealership that we dealt with has been fantistic so far...no high pressure...very professional...they let the vehicle sell itself. Try the Tucson..it is a great ride !!!
Value for Dollars
A lot of standard features. ABS, ESP, CD/MP3 player, keyless entry, anti theft. Great style, wide tires ideal vehicle for Candian winter conditions. I did a lot of research compared Honda CRV, Toyota RAV4 an landed up buying a Tuscon and I feel I made the correct decision
Tuscon - Good Mileage, Interior Room
I drove my 4 Cyl 5 Speed Tuscon 8000 miles from the NY to Oregon and back. Over the trip I averaged 26 MPG (70+ MPH on most thruways). I also found that wind resistance is a major contributor to the mileage. I got much better mileage in the high altitude states of Wyoming, Idaho, and Montana than in the lower altitude states. I also am very suspicious of ethanol because when I used it in Iowa and Nebraska I got by far my worst mileage (22 MPG). I am very satisfied with my Tuscon in most respects. I found that the odometer is off by 3% (you have driven 3% further than it says, so my milage was actually 26.8 MPG). I also am not happy that two levels of my wiper intermitent settings no delay.
More Bang for My / Our Buck
The wife and I were looking for a SUV without the SUV price. We are also planing for a family and LOVED ALL THE BELLS and WHISTLES on the Tucson LX that came standard. We treated ourselves. It was worth the jump from GL to LX The Autoplex mall here in Hawaii was no pressure and traded in our VW Jetta and never looked back.
what I needed in all my trips
I am very impressed with the ride, the comfort. It is big enough to fullfil all my needs, yet small enough to drive in busy traffic.busy streets. parking is easy. This is my first "suv". The more I drive it , The more I fall in love with it.
I love my LX
I have enjoyed rideing in my Tucson. This is the first front wheel drive car I have owned. Last winter in the bad weather it was handled like a dream
love my tucson
had the santa fe 1st..traded in for the tucson as soon as i saw it in the dealership...love this vehicle, can use it as 4wd but handles like a car..can't say enough good things about it
So far so good
So far so good. We are coming up on 12,000 miles. I have had the vehicle for just about 5 months and have not had a bit of trouble. I drive it hard every day putting just about 100 miles on it every week day. I have a really bad back, and this thing is comfortable, easy to get into, and fun to drive.
Best Small SUV of 2005
After exploring other SUVs and test- driving the Honda Element and Ford Escape, the Tucson GLS (4X4) ended up coming home with me. I was almost sold immediately with all the standard options the Tucson comes with. The Interior is very ergonomically self- explanatory. The Audio System is capable of playing Regular CDs and CD/MP3 disks and comes with a cassette deck. Though cassette tapes are hardly used anymore, it comes in handy for connecting my iPod with a cassette adaptor. The exterior is very stylish and sporty. Though the Tucson wont win any drag races, its traction and stability was very good on the first 4X4 test to upstate snowy New York.
Fun to drive
Picked this car up during snow storm. Performed very well. Enjoying it very much. Family of five fits comfortably.
My Thoughts...
I'll start off by saying that I never thought I'd ever buy a Hyundai. But after taking a close look at the Honda CR-V and Toyota Rav4 I just couldn't pass up the great deal that is the Tuscon.
Great little SUV
I traded in a 1999 Pathfinder for this used 2005 Tucson. So far it does most of what I expected it to do. I did loose some cargo and tow capacity with the trade, but the extra MPG makes up for it. It could have more road handling. You don't want to push it too hard into the corners. The stock stereo had to go. I couldn't hear it on the freeway if all the windows were down. The tie downs in the back could be a bit stronger or moved off of the cover.
Tuscon GLS 4wd
I bought it a few weeks ago and love it. We had a big snow day beofre Thanksgiving and it went right thru the worst of the snow like it was nothing. Had a blast driving it. Very roomy inside, very comfortabke seats. Almost like sitting in a living room. Tons of standard cool features. My only gripe is the gas mileage. It was estimated to be 20/27, but I am getting 18avg city/highway, and most of my driving has been highway! Whats up with that? Otherwise, it was better than I expected.
My first suv
I am very pleased with this SUV. We looked at cr-v and rav-4 and found this was a best buy for our money. We are snow birds from Boston so the space was important to us. We bought a fwd ( no snow in Fla. ) I have only 350 miles on it. I am getting about 21- 22 mpg. All city driving and the ac on.
best yet!
My frist suv. After this , never again another car!
2005 Tucson Win..
we bought this last November, this is a great suv for teenager or couple with 2-3 kids. The interior are well design, cruising is good like a car, quite, you feel the safetyness inside of it. better acceleration, brake & control....
My Tucson
Excellent, beautiful leather interior, attractive body style, drives like a car, comfortable as a expensive auto.
New hyundai 3500 miles
Love it. The only problem I have is not getting the fuel economy I thought I would. Get 22 pretty consistently. Wanted 25 or more for highway. other than that, it's been great for as little as I've had it.
The four wheel driving deal
An excellent suv at an excellent price. Great traction control, great safety features, great interior/exterior design. In a word perfect!
Another Hyundai winner!
My Tuscon is really great. I have only one beef. Mine is the 4-cyl. / auto model. Highway mileage is SUPER! I have seen it as high as 34 mpg. However, most of my driving is city...and there, the Tuscon disappoints with only 17-18 mpg. (A V-8 can give those kind of numbers.) The Tucson is bigger than one would first notice; but, mileage for a 4-cul. vehicle sould be better. Build quality is outstanding, and hauling space is very generous. Would I buy another? You bet! My family is ALL Hyundai, and we are very satisfied.
love it
I bought this instead of the RAV4 and I am very happy. Cute, comfortable, leather heated seats are great. Seats flip down easily for my xc skis. Plenty of trunk room. Even my mom fell in love and it is a great value!
Excellent purchase
I traveled this summer from Ga to PA. My children came with us. My son is 6'4"and my daughter 5'7". They expressed how comfortable and spacious the back seats were. The back seats also have the option to recline for better comfort.
It's Grrrrrrrrrreat!!!!!
This is one SUV that offers a luxury SUV feel with out the luxury SUV price. Great suspension, and gas mileage makes this car a great buy. I have ridden in other expensive SUV's but none compare to the feel of the Tucson. If I had to do it all again I would still go in the same direction.
Best For Your Money
I would highly recommend this to anyone searching for a quality built vehicle. They gave this suv a lot of thought. Has alot of room to haul people or grocerys. The warranty they put behind this suv is amazing. If all the other manufactures can build them this good then they would back it up with a warranty like this one has. It is a joy to drive. I would buy this one again.
What a Fun SUV
This is such a fun car to drive. Has the pep to move in traffic but still gets good gas mileage, Only need a homelife garage door opener
Love Driving a Tucson
I love driving this car. My only complaint is that the mileage is only about 20 mpg and my old car did better. It has a lot of pep and a lot of room, but still isn't so big as most SUV's. It's easy to maneuver. The A/C will blow you into the back seat and it just feels good driving it. Before I bought the Tucson I drove a Suzuki SUV, a Toyota Rav4 and a Honda CRV and the Tucson won hands down.
My first Hyundai
I have only had this SUV for 2 months. I traded in a Honda Accord and was concerned about the quality of a Hyundai. I test drove the Toyota RAV, and Honda CR-V. They were okay, but I hate having the spare tire hanging on the tail gate. Honda also goes cheap when adding extras like sun shade tint on windshield and a decent front center arm rest. When I drove the Tucson, it was fun and the ride is excellent.
Hyundai Tucson
Like this vehicle a bunch. Good comfortable ride. Can't beat the warranty. A/C is cold and love the tinted glass. This is my first Hyundai and I'm very impressed. Gas mileage is disappointing. Lucky to get 13 mpg in the city. Stereo is great. Nice and roomy.
I like it....
I just got my Tucson and i love it! I do agree with everyone about the get up and go on it. It could be better. Other then that it is perfect for me. I had a Jeep Grand Cherokee before this and i am happy about my new choice.
YES, It's a Hyundai!!!
I walked into the dealership and after 15min test drive, I walked away with a black fully loaded Tucson. As soon as I sat in the car, I could feel the high level of quality. The car feels a little too heavy for a small ute when driving but it gives you a secure and solid feeling. Hands down a great purchase!
Buy this SUV
This SUV is great. Good gas mileage, rides like a very expensive car, awesome 6 cd stereo, heated leather seats my wive loves, plenty of head room, six air bags, stability control, abs brakes. This SUV has it all for only $ 20,000. I truly recomend this SUV
My 1st SUV
Great so far. Nice stereo system - MP3 player a plus. Much bigger inside than it looks. Good ride - smooth on the highways. I like the dashboard features. Glovebox is HUGE. Lots of rear seat room, even when front seats are pushed all the way back. A great value so far (except for the gas mileage)
Definitely a nice looking SUV
I have had my Tucson for about 2 months now. I have no major complaints but also on the other hand no major excitements. It is my first new car purchase and I was impressed with the warrranty and safety features. I do love the way it looks though. I just recently go my two front windows tinted to match the privacy glass in the rear of the vehicle and now it looks absolutely stunning.
Loyal Hyundai owner and sales rep.
My family and I have owned Hyundai for years and will continue to do so because of hyundai's reliability and quality. The Tucson just sells its self do to the standard features you normally would expect from a vehicle several thousand dollars more.
Excellent
This is my first new car, and I love it. I started looking at the Santa Fe, but then I saw the Tuscon and I loved it. It drives smooth, great on gas and is a pleasure to own. If you are looking for a compact SUV this is it!
AWESOME!
I absolutely ADORE my Tucson! I bought it in Dec 04, and I'm still infatuated with it. When I bought my Elantra the "honeymoon phase" lasted about a month. Hyundai improved their quality and performance by leaps and bounds between 98 (my elantra) and 04 (my Tucson). I've actually been stopped by several people (at the gas station or parking lot) who were really impressed with it-and shocked to learn it's a Hyundai.
Wow! Way to go Hyundai!
We purchased our new Tucson on 4/10/05. And all I can say is WOW! This tiny vehicle is big on the inside, and small on price. We traded in our 2003 Elantra GLS GT and we are completely satisfied. I was already used to good pick-up and power from having the GT,but I didn't think they could do better. We live in the Mts. of PA and the Elantra never really handle the inclines that well, but the Tucson rips up the road without a problem. Previous reviews about the Tucson that said the gas mileage was not good, but I disagree. Gas mileage is comparable with everyone else. At today's gas prices all gas mileage seems bad. We've had it for 4 days now, and put on 800 miles. I love this car.
Fun and Flexible
I have had my Tucson for about 2 months now, almost 2,000 miles into it I have no complaints. It is well put together, handles very well and is both fun to drive and flexible in carrying items. The second row lays down quick and flat, not having to fool with the head rests is a plus. I do wish it had a 5 speed auto instead of the 4 and I would like a bit more horsepower, but then again, with gas at $3+ a gallon, maybe not. It is certainly agile enough, I pass easily on the interstate and I enjoy the sound system (I have the LX). Overall when people first hear I got a Hyundai, you see surprise on their face, and you see it again when they see it and especially when the get in it. VALUE+
