2005 Tuscon(or is that a Lexus or BMW?)

I've owned the Tuscon for a month and have put a 1,000 miles on it.The fit and finish of this vehicle is very impressive. The interior is quiet; no squeaks or rattles and you do not have that cheap plastic feel surrounding you as you drive. It feels like your driving a well thought out solid vehicle. If some people have not heard...HYUNDAI has arrived. These are not the same throw away Hyundai's of the past. They have really improved in every aspect.

Handles very nice. Light steering, good road control and power in the mountains. Handled very well in snow and sand. Gas mileage no better than my 95 chevy blazer (17 -21 mpg). Dealership has poor sales service, don't go to Bob Lewis! Paint easily damaged by bird droppings. Good stereo system. Relatively quite ride. Good cargo space for a small suv. Driver and passenger seats very comfortable. Not too many blind spots. Can get 4 full grown men in the care with golf clubs! Recommendation: fix gas mileage and dealership.

Happy, but not ecstatic about Tucson

Pretty little SUV - looks like a new Lexus, except I have dual exhaust and they don't! Gas mileage is fair - I was disappointed (same as my big 8 cyl Mercury Grand Marquis) Buzzy stereo system - I'll probably have it replaced. Need power seats! No need for the automatic/manual shift. Did have engine light come on once- defective "speed sensor."

I went to the Hyundai dealership to look at the SantaFe, I felt it was too big (after having a Ford ZX2). They encouraged me to try the Tucson. What a perfect fit! I thought I wanted a Ford Escape, but couldn't afford it. After a few weeks & 2 snowstorms, I'm thrilled. It has handled great, through wind, snow & ice. The ABS brakes work great, & the ESP eliminates the need for 4WD if you don't offroad. The interior is very practical as well. I keep finding little things that are very useful. I even have a place for my purse that is not the passenger seat. In all, I think I'm only going to find more things that I like about this SUV & not feel that I bought it because it was all I could afford.

Overall I think it's an excellent mid entry suv. It's defintely not the largest, but it does manage to be rather spacious and comfortable considering it's smaller size. Not cramped like most small suvs. With all the standard features and optional upgrades, I think I made a great purchase.

We bought our new Tucson about a month ago. The performance of this car is about average. It seems that something is holding it back, the ride is not smooth at all. Engine noise is prohibitive, maybe its just our car but at slow speed engine is whinning (reminds me of famous German planes Stuka during WWII). Gas mileage is awful barely 20 mpg mostly hihgway. This is 2.0L engine for God's sake!; my 15 year old Chevy was doing 24-25. Gas pedal is in wierd position for me, get tired very easily during long drives. Leg space for passenger is OK. Overall, this is "you get what you paid for vehicle". For the money (we paid 16,250 before tax) its OK buy, dont expect great things out of it.

This vehicle has been with us for 1 month and there is a problem with it surging. The engine has died several times. It has been with the dealership for almost a week now. No one has bothered to diagnose the problem as of yet. The dealership did not want to give up a loaner in the meantime. we had to contact Hyundai to get the dealership to give a loaner while this one is being serviced. The dealership has only 2 techs. So they are backed up on service. All dealerships in the area are backed up and the wait time is always at least 2 weeks. What do you think? 1 month of ownership, 1400 miles, still in shop after 1 week waiting for repair, dealership making a bad situation worse.

The tuson is one of the nicest small SUV I found. I looked at a lot of them including the RAV4 and the Honda CRV, the tuson has lots more room and the the ride is one of the best I found. Was able to get the gas millege up to 25 city and 32 hwy with amsoil 0W-30 and a K&N airfilter.

We had waited for the Tuscon to come out for a year. Just wanted to see what it looked like and how it drove. After seeing a commercial at our local theater a couple of months ago, (I was hooked). I tend to hold on to a vehicle for many years reluctant to trade but after seeing and test driving the Tuscon I had to have it. I reluctantly gave up my Elantra of five years, but I am very happy with the change. The Tuscon is very easy to drive and everything is very easy to operate. My first tank of gas showed the vehicles performance at 22 miles to the gallon. I expect it will get better after engine break-in. Thank you Hyundai for coming through with another great vehicle.

I love the vehicle.Fun to drive gas mileage is o.k. about 19 mpg city 25 hwy.Smart looking, ample cargo room.Inside plastics are a bit cheesy and cloth seats could use some updating on design. Stability control is really great.I have the wood trim package and it dresses up the interior nicely. I plan on owning this vehcle for many years. The only fault I find with this vehicle is it is a bit sluggish even with 6cyl. engine. Other than that I love my Tucson!

Still love this car, no problems 4.5 yrs later. Also was the least inexpensive & best bang for the buck when I bought it new vs CR-V, RAV4, X3, Escape and the only one of them that had all elements V6, 4wd, ESP, 6 airbags, Sunroof, Leather Heated Seats, and a 5yr Bumper to Bumper. I was worried at time about investing in a Hyundai but now believe they are a solid value company for cars under $30k. What Nissan and Toyota used to be 20 yrs ago! The 4wd & ease of driving in snow/rain has been fantastic, I will never go back to 2wd. Perfect utility car for daily commuting, running around with the kids to soccer & LL on weekends, and camping. I expect 10 yrs out of this car easy. Fun Ride

Bought a Tucson for female, working college student who commutes. Nothing but TROUBLE. Year 1 -it began flashing power lights, and dying on her while driving. Then began having dead batteries randomly. Hyundai Service refused to replace the battery until 2 year warranty was up so we had to PAY for one. Also dead if it isn't driven for several days. Something in the elec system is pulling juice during non- running time but they can't find it and have now given up. We will replace it with one she can be secure and safe driving (and not driving). SKIP THIS MODEL TUCSON!!!

Of all the vehicles I have owned since the early 70's, this is BY FAR the worst. After having trouble with my previous car, I bought the Tucson soley based on it's warranty. What I got was HORRIBLE MPG, 8-12 City with a best of 17 Hwy. You'd think for $23G you'd get a power seat, but no, I get seat bottoms an 1.5" shorter than normal to give the illusion of more leg room and my back hurts due to no lumbar support. The supposed 200W stereo sounds like a tin can.

We bought our Hyundai Tucson to get better gas mileage. The sticker said "20-26 mpg" I drive 12 miles to work on the highway, not stop and go. I get 19 mpg. I talked with the salesman and the service department, at first the salesman said they would check it and tune it up. When I called to set up an appointment I was told they could not help my car,and I couldn't count on those numbers. I talked with the salesman again and this time he said the estimated gas mileage is 20-23, not 23-26". Why are the numbers different???? Why are these numbers put on cars if they are not true??? That's false advertising!!!. I had a Lincoln Town Car that got 20mpg driving 70 mph, I drive 60-65 and get 19.

Bought this car for fuel economy. Did not get it. 14 local and 16 highway, if I'm lucky. No pickup whatsoever. Dealer took it in 4 times and claims there is nothing wrong with it. If this is running as they say it should, don't waste your money. You can get a much larger, better built vehicle and get the same or better mileage out of it. I am so sorry I bought this vehicle

I have had my new Tucson for about 2 weeks as of this writing. I drive an average of 55 miles a day mixed city and highway. I have been on a 900 mile round trip(to Gettysburg) with tucson. All of the "professional" reviews I read didnt seem to feel the tucson V-6 has enough power. I disagree. Even with both rear seats down and the cargo space full, with two adults up front and the A/C on- I never felt that I didnt have enough power to get on the highway safely. Its no sports car by any means but it is zippy enough to be a fun drive. My only complaint would be that I wish the steering wheel had a little bigger range of tilt and would telescope as I just cant get 100% comfortable

Hyundai Tucson: The Most Bang for the $

This vehicle is a far better deal than any of its competition (e.g., Ford Escape; Honda CRV and Element; Toyota RAV4 and Mitsubishi Outlander) because of all of its standard safety and driveline features, many of which are not even offered as options by the competition. Try to build a Honda CRV or RAV4 that has all (or even most) of the standard features of the Tucson and you are looking at a purchase price of at least $5,000 more! I know: I priced the three of them at local dealerships. The second reason why I love this vehicle is the very high quality of its construction. All of the fitments are like those in a Lexus: they click and thunk with the right sounds, and look great, too.

My backbacker magazine introduced me to the Tuscon and I stopped in the local dealer on a saturday night and took a test drive, wow this was it, I ended up buying it a week later on a thursday night when a fresh delivery arrived with the exact model i wanted, silver with a sunroof. The ride is very stable, the suspension and tires are firm and smooth riding. Spacious interior. The only thing I don't like is the gas mileage, although it may be just that it has an accurate guage. my other cars never dipped off of full in the first 50-75 miles. But this dips quicker. so maybe it's just accurate. Thus I dont have any complaints. I opted for the 10/100 all around bumper to bumper and powertrain.

I just returned from a trip to Washington, DC, 3.5 hours and 210 miles. The Tucson was a very comfortable ride and got suprisingly good gas mileage (24 mpg) at 65-75 mph. Around town, the mileage drops off to 17 mpg with stop and go driving. The cargo area with the seats folded down is big enough for most uses, we just carried an antique dresser and mirror with plenty of room to spare. It was excellent in the 16" of snow we had in January, the day after I took delivery. I'm very pleased with the Tucson so far, now let's see how reliable it is.

This is Dad's commuting SUV. I wanted something that affordable, cost efficient for commuting, and fit in the garage nicely. The fact that this card was only 170 inches long meant that I could park in the garage and still have room for the kid's bikes. (32 inches shorter than my old Intrepid.) I compared the CRV, Escape, and Tribute, Escape, and Santa Fe, Sportage. You just could not match the value of the Korean vehicles. I decided I like the look and Styling of the White Tuscon over Kia and other models. To each there own.

Bought new and driving for almost 4 years - no breakdowns till date - running smooth. Poor mileage (19-20 mpg)- time to replace the stock tires (39,000 - guess not bad). Car used to pull towards right - aligned the wheels twice (almost everytime during the scheduled service) - they can't figure out why it's pulling like that - now they're saying it could be due to worn out tires - but the problem started after 20k miles.. I am going to put Michelin on it next week and balance the wheels once again - will see if the problem still persists. Otherwise a great car - my first car was a sonata which also did great for 5 years.. I hope Tuscon also does well in the coming years!

This is the third Hyundai we've owned and they just keep getting better and better. I liked the Santa Fe but thought it was a little too goofy so I was leaning towards a Toyota Highlander. For a much better price, we got a great SUV that's good looking and has a lot of zip to it. We bought the GLS with the body cladding instead of the LX because we're in Texas and certainly didn't need the seat warmers and I preferred the stereo system that had the cassette player anyway, but I wanted leather, so our dealer used a local shop and gave us much better quality leather than Hyundai offers for much less than the LX package price. Great fold-down flat rear seats for the 3 dogs!

I spent over a year checking out small SUVs on the Internet. I also test drove many. The Tucson is one great SUV! The quality really surprised me along with the price. All the extras are standard (except a minor few like roof rack rails/sun roof). This makes dealing with the dealer on the price much easier. You really must drive this car before you buy any small SUV. If you do, I think you'll be sold!

Read earlier review on fit of exterior panels needing improvement ... not my car or any of the others I saw in the dealership ... this little SUV beat any Mercedes I have ever owned ... and I've owned a few. It feels rock solid .. and the doors ... they close with a solid thunk you only find in top dollar European cars. Everything works! Radio is very nice ... I live in FL and the A/C ... cold as the artic. Most solid car I have ever owned ... safest car on the road. Great internet deal! I paid $1500 below the "TMV" price for the 2.7L V6. Really recommend this little puppy ... feels like a big car on the road. Best driveaway feel of any car I have bought!

Went to buy a safe small SUV for my colege student son and ended with keeping it for myself, giving my son his dream 2000 VW Passat that I had for 5 years. Fantastic job again by Hyundai-my wife owns 2002 Elantra GT. But Tucson isn't just for price. It has everything what you need for solid transportation and enjoyment. All this safety features should be in every car,it's possible, thanks Hyundai. It drives very smooth, quiet, corners unbelievable nice, 4 cylinder engine more than sufficient, a lot space everywhere. I'm 6'3" and can't complain about space, ergonomy is excellent. Simply I feel good driving this SUV as a car. Advice for parents: buy for kids just 4 cylinders, safe and nice.

My experience with Hyundai started with the 2003 Sonata, a great car. After an accident, I had read about the Tucson and fell in love with it. It has been a great car, no problems. squeaks or rattles in about 6,500 miles, and great in snow. I think hit a home run. The service is great, too, and believe it or not, I enjoy having the oil changed at the dealer, and a free car wash.

Okay first off, I am an avid car guy. I enjoy reading multiple reviews 4 many different cars and trucks, and I have read several reviews on the new Tucson. Every professional review I read talked about the Tucson's poor performance in regards to its acceleration and transmission. So going into my first test drive with the vehicle I was expecting a sluggish experience. This was definitely not the case at all. No, it won't outrun my Mustang Cobra, but it has plenty of low end punch off the line. It feels eager to go as soon as you touch the pedal. I now proudly own a Tucson and have been very pleased w/it. Build quality is excellent and the value that comes with it can't be matched!

We purchased our LX at Thanksgiving last November and have taken it on a couple of cross-country trips already. We really like the heated seats and mirrors here in Chicagoland, and our fuel economy has been in the 21-22 mpg range commuting, and 23-24 on the highway going cross country. Build quality is very good, and having electronic stability control is a great plus.Love the 6 airbags. I'd like if it had a little more horsepower, but it accelerates okay, and runs happy and pretty quiet at highway speeds. I recommend this vehicle to those that want alot of "extras", but don't want to pay alot to have them. We chose this vehicle over Rav4, CRV, and Escape. 10yr/100000 mile warranty too!

Have driven Saturns exclusively since 1992, Have had my Tucson for 3 months. My wife drives a 2003 Vue. She has bad knees and I needed to replace my Saturn SL2 for somthing that she could easily get in and out of. This is a very comfortable ride for her. Tucson has it all over the Vue...including price. Can't make a true price comparison because the Vue doesn't even have some of the features available on the Tucson (ie.; 6 air bags, lengthy warranty, stability control).

I am very impressed with the ride, the comfort. It is big enough to fullfil all my needs, yet small enough to drive in busy traffic.busy streets. parking is easy. This is my first "suv". The more I drive it , The more I fall in love with it.

We traded in an 2003 Expedition 12mpg. We bought the new 2005 Tucson LX V-6. The paint is beautiful. Its truly fun to drive. Seats 4 comfortably. We have 1200 mile on the Tucson. We get 19 mpg around town.Since we drive about 99 % around town I am very happy to get this kind of great mileage. The leather seats have seat warmers. My wife loves it. The best car, best warranty, and its cheap, and fun to drive.
