Since I bought the car a Hyundai certified 2015 Hyundai Sonata with approximately 25k miles. I had several issues, after just a week of owning the car the driver side mirror trim started showing discoloration, it was black and shinny when I bought the car. The first time I took the car on the highway, I felt a slight shaking on the steering wheel, took it the dealership to have the wheel balance check and I was told by the manager that they couldn’t do nothing about it since it is not part of the warranty (when I asked the manager if they check the wheel balance on the certification inspection he said he didn’t know), the service clerk went to speak with my sales person to see if the sales dept. would cover the cost of the wheel balancing job, however, per the service clerk ( the sales rep never came out to talk to me) they declined covering the service request. On my first interior cleaning, I noticed that the driver seat had a hole on the left side support, also the leather dye faded out and I can see the foam underneath and the right rear passenger seat leather was coming out of the headrest cover, I contacted Hyundai USA and their advice was to take it to the dealer for evaluation, at the dealer the service clerk said that the hole and fading was under warranty and they’ll fix it but I had to leave the car at the dealership for at least a day, when I asked if I could have a loaner car for the day, he said that they didn’t offer any loaners, so I decided to wait for an opportunity in which I didn’t need the car to leave it. Now on a trip to Orlando with my family, the shark fin antenna came out the antenna base on the highway, I presume. I contacted Hyundai USA and I got the same answer as before, take it to the dealer for evaluation, the antenna is only cover for 3 years or 36k miles, of course I was out of warranty. At the dealer, the service rep didn’t even look at it, she said that it is a common issue, but it is not a defect???? and that I was out of warranty, while there I asked when I the upholstery technician was going to be onsite to leave my car and she said that I was out of warranty on my car seat as well. Overall, don’t believe the dealership certification inspection, I bought the car confident that I wasn’t going to encounter any issues with the car, but I was completely wrong, the inspection is just a gimmick to charge more for a car and/or cover defects to trick the costumer into buying a car that looks a lot better at the dealer and while Hyundai offer 10 years/100k miles warranty on the engine and transmission everything else that seems to fall apart only have a 3 year/36k warranty, the car rides nice and its very spacious but the overall quality of the car is sub par to other brands.

I purchased this car after a major exploration project starting with the successes of Hyundai's new engineers and this sophisticated beauty. It screams of value, value and yes, more value. Thanks to Audi for allowing Hyundai to hire some amazing engineers....!!! Just look at the crazy safety features like the rear cross traffic alert and then the pixilation on the backup camera is second to none...hands down. Then combined with the best warranty in America, and the new multi-link suspension - it is a CHAMP!!!

I've had the car for a little longer than a year with almost 6,500 mi. It's my first Hyundai and I'm generally impressed with the overall build quality and performance of the car. Because of it's quietness and solid road feel, it makes a great trip car. The seat support is very good and the dash arrangement is logical which makes it easy to use while driving. The roomy back seat is comfortable for 3 adults and the oversized trunk is well laid out, great for grocery getting and large suit cases. A few miner complains though; (1) Exhaust note, needs to be refined, doesn't sound all that great. (2) Holds first gear a little too long when accelerating even in sport mode. Overall, I really do like the car. The outside styling is very nice and the ride is firm and takes most bumps and dips in the road with a secured refinement. I just couldn't give it a perfect 5 stars. Sorry, I'm picky!

Hidden Gem - 1.6T ECO - One hell of a sprinter

After considering Accord, Camry, Fusion, Altima and Mazda 6, I chose Sonata ECO. This is my first Hyundai purchase, and boy Hyundai came a long way. It's up there with Honda and Toyota now - Hyundai is better than many Japanese and American brands, when it comes to FWD sedans. MPG - I can put this car in "SPORT" mode and floor the gas pedal all I want and still get 30MPG. Using cruise control at 80MPH, I can get 34MPG all day long. With little light footwork and drive conservatively, I hit 40MPG regularly. I measured 0-60 myself, and consistently get under 7 sec. This is a new model so I can't speak for reliability, but hyundai reliability is up there among the best.

Hyundai Bad Service

Bought brand new 2015 Sonota 2.0 Sport. Car seemed nice and choose it over a Camry. Summer of 2019 engine blew. Found out had recall from cars made in Alabama. Hyundai did put new engine in but would not pay for tow. Also, dealership charged $200 for an aftermarket starter they said had to be changed out. Hyundai would not pay for starter even though I had no issues ever with the starter until the engine blew. Not even sure if the starter was bad or just got ripped off by local dealer. BOTH the local dealer and Hyundai Corp was very difficult to work with. Terrible communication. Ignored most of the time. I will never buy another new Hyundai. Maybe used but never new. Toyota, please forgive me for my mistake in 2015, I will never go with Hyundai ever again! P.S. car itself still an decent ride.
