Don't Spend $20K More for a Mercedes or BMW!

Ron, 11/17/2019

We have owned nothing but German luxury cars for about the last 15 years. And, as our BMW X5 was hitting 100K miles, I decided it was time to get a new vehicle. Once again, I began the process of reading reviews and researching Consumer Reports to select whether I wanted to buy another BMW, go with the more conservative Mercedes, or perhaps give the highly rated Volvo XC 90 a try. All were in the $70K+ price range. Then, I somehow heard about the new Hyundai Palisade. I read the impressive reviews, and then checked how Hyundai looked on Consumer Reports and JD Powers. The car seemed intriguing, but I wondered how I'd feel owning a brand that most people don't associate with luxury... more out of ignorance than anything else. I finally convinced my wife that she'd be "OK" driving something other than a German luxury brand costing $20K-$25K more for equivalent features. After searching for weeks to find a dealer with the 4WD Palisade Limited, I bought it out-of-state. We've owned it for 2 months now, and ironically, my wife LOVES it!!! It is honestly everything that we had hoped it would be, and more. The interior is beautifully appointed, and the ergonomics of the dash, buttons and gauges is superb. Everything is logically designed and fairly intuitive to use, including the infotainment system and the structure of the settings menu. The Napa leather seats are very supportive and extremely comfortable. Driving it is highly pleasurable. It is luxuriously smooth, very quiet, and the V6 has more than adequate power for most driving situations. The transmission is silky and very well matched to the engine. Steering could be a bit tighter in the Comfort mode, but it's not an issue that I would let dissuade me from owning a Palisade. It doesn't feel like it can corner like an X5, but I've found it very stable in turns with very little body roll. It is incredibly spacious inside, with luxurious comfort for the four occupants in the front bucket seats and middle row captain seats. We don't need the rear row most of the time, but appreciate the huge area to pack our stuff up on trips, as well as let our dog have room to spread out on his bed. I think he'd rate the ride 5 Barks, too! In summary, I'd encourage anyone seeking a luxurious, high quality mid-size SUV to drive the Palisade and arrive at their own conclusions. If I had to bet, I'm confident most would agree that it is an impressive value.

From 2015 Lexus RX 2020 to Palisade Limited

David Maedgen, 08/29/2019
2020 Hyundai Palisade Limited 4dr SUV (3.8L 6cyl 8A)

Purcahased a 2wd Limited with beige interior and grey exterior. Was considering Honda Pilot elite, Toyota Highlander platinum, 2017 certified Lexus RX and 2018 certified Infiniti QX60. All my considerations could be bought for mid 40k. Have had my palisade 4 weeks and put 2000 miles and don’t have any regrets. First the cons- black carpet shows every speck of sand and dirt(miss the beige carpet in my old Lexus), rear windows are no auto up and down, had to pay full sticker price(which I have never done before), dealer overinflated tires to 50psi. Now here is why this is the best SUV at any price. Ride and handling are better than any Lexus or Infiniti, safety features literally make you a better driver- lane keep, cross traffic alert is super impressive, radar cruise is scary good, surround view is perfectly precise, sound system rivals symphony halls, cabin quiteness(when tires are properly inflated at 35psi) is impressive, seat coolers are astonishing and the list can go on for a lot longer. This vehicle is a true market disrupter. Hyundai is doing to Toyota what Toyota did to GM. This car is too good to be sold as a Hyundai, it could easily be an Audi and command a $70k price. After a month and 2000 miles, I believe it will be more reliable than any European car.

Excellent vehicle with too many safety features...

Like a couple people on here, the Palisade is LOADED with safety features that sometimes just plain get in the way of normal driving. The adaptive cruise control slows the car to the speed ahead of you and when you get into the passing lane to overtake, the vehicle slows even further before speeding up to your set cruise speed in a kick down jerky move. Irritating. I've never been a fan of "stop-start" at lights where the engine shuts off and then restarts when you place our foot back on the gas. Another, not smooth operations. The car tends to lunge when the starter re-engages and starts the car. Luckily, there is a button to shut this feature off, BUT you have to do it every time you get in the vehicle. It's not set it and forget it. Speaking of set it and forget it...the Palisade has an "AUTO" head light indicator on the stalk for auto dimming headlights. Unfortunately you have to push the stalk forward to the "bright" setting in order to activate the feature... AGAIN every time you turn the car on. What's the point of the "Auto" setting on the stalk if you have to physically activate it every time?? Another miss on Hyundai's designers is the fact that this almost $50 grand vehicle does not come with power folding mirrors! You can't even get them on the Palisade Limited as an option, but for some reason you can get them on a $15K Elantra...that's just dumb and ridiculous. Features that I absolutely love are the heads-up display which includes EVERYTHING going on with the vehicle ..from Blind Spot Monitoring, Cruise, Navigation, Speed, Speed Zone Signage, radio...it's all there, directly in front of you. You're also able to pick colors and and position of your heads- up display. Love it! Another Limited feature I love is the turn signals. Your tach becomes a camera view when you turn left and your MPH gauge becomes a camera view when you turn right. Very handy in traffic and even during freeway driving. This feature is only available on the Limited and I give it a 10! Seating is comfortable all around and there's enough cup holders and USB charging ports for 8 plus people. The HVAC is very good and keeps temperatures in the cabin consistent throughout. The LED headlights are a absolute dream and shine brighter than my BMW adaptive HIDS which I thought at the time could never be beat...these beat it by AAALOT. The engine is only adequate for the size and heft of this vehicle and I'm hoping future models will incorporate a turbo version of this engine. It needs it. Especially if you're going to tow anything close to it's rated 5000# towing capacity. That all being said, you're not going to find a more luxurious SUV at this price point anywhere. I shopped the new 2020 Explorer ($62K!!), Toyota Highlander ($48K) and Chevy Traverse ($52K). Also looked at the sister of the Palisade, Telluride, but I preferred the Palisade interior and exterior design a little bit more. One last parting concern about this vehicle is a TSB that just came out for the prop shaft in the AWD models. Unfortunately, my Palisade has the dreaded "shake" between 63MPH and 75MPH which has effected the early production models built April 2019 - July 2019. I'll do an update to this review after my experience trying to get this issue resolved. It looks like Hyundai has decided to try road balancing tires first and checking alignments which do not fix the problem. I believe they all suffer from unbalanced or bent prop shafts in the AWD system and the only solution is replacement. We'll see what happens!

Best decision we ever made

My wife and I researched SUVs like a PhD student doing a thesis. We were ready to buy in January but decided to wait on the Palisade. Boy was that the right decision. We've had it for one week now and we love it. The interior feels high-end and is thoughtfully designed. It really feels like you are in the cockpit of a luxury car without the hefty price tag. The exterior has a unique design and it stands out in a very good way. It attracts the attention of people everywhere we go and they ask us about it. The SEL trim is the best value for your money. We bought it fully loaded at that level. The bigger screen is nice and it has built-in navigation with real-time traffic. BlueLink allows us to remotely start the vehicle and track diagnostics. My wife really wanted ventilated seats but SEL doesn't have it but with remote start the vehicle can be cooled before you come out of the office and get in for your commute home. Don't pay a penny above MSRP, we were quoted $3000 above and we simply said no and they agreed to MSRP. I can go on and on about the features but you should experience it yourself by test-driving. It's a treat to drive it everyday. Update on March 25th (After owning it for 9 months): I'm downgrading my star rating from 5 to 4 for one reason, the wind noise issue from the drivers side. At around 60 MPH (not all the time), depending on how strong the crosswinds are, you will hear an air leak sort of sound. It is annoying to say the least. The dealership said that Hyundai issued a bulletin and the fix was to replace my side view mirror. After waiting for the replacement for a month and a half, I was told that Hyundai has stopped repairs on the wind noise issue. The guy said that Hyundai haven't nailed down the proper fix yet. It is disappointing to spend 45k and have a vehicle with a wind noise issue but the good news is that if you hit the recycle air button, the wind noise is reduced by about 95%. You barely notice it after that. I still think this SUV is amazing and a great value for the price. Let's just hope they fix this issue on their 2021 model. March 2021 update: It's been almost 2 years since we bought it and we still love it! No regrets whatsoever.

A few months ago the hubs and I were in the market for a new vehicle, which is something we don't purchase very often. My previous car was purchased over 10 years ago (Hyundai Veracruz), still in decent shape, but had no technology or bluetooth. We were on a mission to find a new car that had all the technology, 3 row seats, lots of comfort for road trips, etc.... The bar was set high with my husband purchasing a new Audi Q8 earlier in the year. We test drove everything on the market, Mercedes, Volvo, Lexus, Infiniti, Range Rover, Ford, Lincoln, Volkswagen, etc... The irony is that in most of the high end vehicles, the technology was either cumbersome or flat out didn't work (or completely missing altogether). On a test drive for a Range Rover, the voice recognition failed to understand my most basic commands. The Lexus and Infiniti did not have Android Auto/Apple Carplay and/or the navigation required a lengthy menu to step through in order to use. The Lincoln and Ford had decent technology, but the seats were uncomfortable although the Lincoln boasted an 18 point seat adjustment. The interior also looked more like a truck inside vs. a luxury vehicle. The Volvo only came in a 4 cylinder engine which sounded like a rental car when driving. So with the aforementioned said, I ended up with the Hyundai Palisade! The Palisade had nearly everything the Audi Q8 did and then some (with the exception of seat massagers and folding mirrors, but has options the Audi doesn't have either.) If you are in the market for a new vehicle, and can get past the "Hyundai" label, you definitely want to check this out. There are too many options to mention them all, but the Palisade has some of the most advanced technology that works (an easy command of "restaurants near me" and a list appears, or "Call Bob and it dials Bob). Also, driver assistance package, heated and cooled seats front and back rows, heated steering wheel, back up and forward viewing cameras, turn signal lane view...no more turning your head behind you to change lanes, etc... remote car start that will warm your seats and set the temperature inside the car prior to getting in, vehicle car location, vehicle status, etc.... I waited a few months to share my thoughts so as to get a few months of use in before giving it the official thumbs-up. And no, Hyundai is not paying me for my feedback and/or an endorsement! Ha! When you find a product or service that exceeds your expectations, you can't help but want to share it with others. I did purchase the Hyundai Palisade Limited AWD, in Steel Graphite with beige Nappa leather interior and suede headliner. She's a beauty!

Hyundai No Longer "Fixing" Wind Noise

KathyK, 02/18/2020

Beware Buying a Palisade!!! We purchased our fully-loaded 2020 Palisade 01/2020. We had heard of and were concerned about the wind noise on both front driver and passenger side windows. Our dealership assured us there was a Hyundai bulletin about the noise and a "fix" that would take care of it should the wind noise bother us. Our beautiful new Palisade was evaluated a few days after we took it home by the dealership service department, and of course, our wind noise concerns were validated by the service manager and parts were ordered to perform the fix. A couple of weeks later, the parts arrived, they called to schedule the "fix". SURPRISE!! When we took the car in this morning for the scheduled appointment, they let us know that Hyundai Corporate has ceased repairs on the wind noise problem. BEWARE! Don't find yourself in this same situation - a beautiful brand new vehicle with a bad wind-noise issue! Hyundai has decided they WILL NOT STAND BEHIND THIS WIND NOISE ISSUE!

I have had my 2020 Hyundai Palisade for one month, and have put 2500 miles on it. I absolutely love my vehicle except for the wind noise on both the driver and passenger windows. I did take it into a service center, and test drove another Palisade only to find the same thing. Seems to be a definite issue with a 2020 Hyundai Palisade. Sure hoping Hyundai comes out with a fix for this! Would hate that to ruin a great vehicle! On windy days it’s horrible!

I searched for the last 2-3 months to find the right car that fit me and my family. I found it in the Palisade. I had narrowed the decision down between the Kia Telluride and Hyundai Palisade. Ultimately, I choose the Palisade. The car rides smooth and I love the luxury look and feel inside and out. The Palisade also offered second row captain seats on the SEL version. The gas mileage has been around 24.5 miles per gallon. I also love the room between the second and third row. Overall, I am so pleased with the Hyundai Palisade.

Researched and drove all mid size 3 row SUVs, the Palisade was head and shoulders above the rest (domestic and import). Drive and comfort was top notch and tech is best in class and easy to use. Only complaint I noticed researching was wind noise while driving 40+ mph and honestly if you have the premium sound system on level 2 sound, or have small children which should be popular for this class of vehicle, you don't even notice it anymore. Great rig, don't have a biased opinion or loyalty to 1 brand, give it a drive and be impressed.

I read hundreds of reviews for years before deciding on a Hyundai Palisade. Let me give you the highlights of why and a few cons. First off, even taking away all the crazy features, I would've bought this SUV for how it drives alone. I didn't want a huge SUV, but I still need room for kids, dogs, guitars, and baseball bags. Let's not forget about Costco hauls too. This car fits it all, but drives like it is a small 2-row SUV. I don't know how they got it to not have any body roll when cornering. It is so smooth and easy. I just plain love it. My husband loves to test it's limits and "drive it like he stole it", and according to him it drives better than an Acura RDX. I also love the interior and the features. I chose the light tan interior and it is GORGEOUS! I love showing my friends and seeing their reaction. It's pure shock. This car was made for a comfortable ride with families and I appreciate all the "mom" features it has. Want to know if your kids unbuckle or move seats? It's got it. Want to control their AC in the back? Got it. Want to check to make sure they are keeping their hands to themselves or talk to them through the speakers? Got it. Last thing I love about it is how it has shortcut buttons for the safety features. It's like Hyundai recognized that some of the features can be a little annoying if it is dinging and alerting all the time. So if you're on your A game and paying attention, there is a quick on/off button on the side of the steering wheel for several of these features. Okay, so a few cons I have found in driving it for the last 2 months. First is the material of the door handles. I have the limited trim with a matte chrome finish. It's nice when it's clean, but that isn't very often. I will have to see over time how it holds up, but honestly it is covered in kid finger prints and water spots 99% of the time. It's a magnet for any and all dirt and oil on hands. It also feels very hollow and not like a solid door handle. Second con is the speaker cover. It is a cheese grater in disguise and I will skin my knee during shorts season. Might be just me and the way I get into the car. These few cons are not a deal breaker to me, and this car has exactly everything I wanted, plus a ton more. I would highly recommend it be on anyone's short list. 2021: Several things have started to not work randomly. Of course nothing consistently so I can take it in. I have a front camera that’s a blue screen, shifter malfunctions, and a radio that randomly blasts so loud the speakers could blow. Each of these issues have only happened twice and correct by turning the car off. 2024 Update: Still going strong! No major issues, and I had honestly forgotten about the technical issues I listed above. It’s been a great vehicle for my family. I think the biggest gripe has been the sensor windshield wipers. Mine is not the best, but maybe just my vehicle? Anyway, If you are trying to decide between this and the Highlander, good luck. Don’t think you can go wrong with either one.

This review is from Canada. So the model up here is the Preferred AWD Class which would be the SEL AWD model in the U.S. It has been about 2 months that we have purchased this vehicle and love it. It does cost 30% more in Canada due to the exchange rate of our currency. It is still worth every penny. Pros: - 5 year Powertrain warranty - Look and design - Good engine power - Turning radius is good for a bigger vehicle - The room - both cargo and human - The cloth seats ( Comfort and Quality ) - Standard options like heated seats front and rear - Heated steering wheel - Safety features brake assist, lane departure, and blind spot sensor - Electronic gear selector, no manual stick shifter ( more room in cockpit ) - Back seat alert, reminds you if something is in the back seat. - Ease of access into third row ( folding seats ) - Rear door window shades - Dimming rear-view mirror, with garage door opener - Automatic parking brake when needed - Auto shut - off at stop light, ( This can be turned off at anytime ) Cons: - should have power rear lift gate - should also have the bigger media screen like the higher class model - should have navigation, like the Kia Telluride in the same class - Can't lift windshield wipers on snowy nights - A little more road noise in cabin than my 2019 Kia Sorento. Wind noise sound coming from driver side, can be heard in the car while driving. We haven't had much snow yet to comment on the AWD, but I'm sure it will work fine. Most of these Cons are minor and related to preference and can be lived with. Vibration noise in one of the front speakers. Also the face of the radio is pealing around the edges, but under the surface plastic. Took it in to the dealer they wanted $800 to fix it, and, they would cover $400 and I would have to pay the other half. I found that a little excessive and did not get it fixed. Radio still works. After saying all this we still would recommend this vehicle. After 4 and a half years of ownership I still like this car. The 6 cylinder is peppy! A lot of SUV's now day's don't even offer a 6 cylinder. The only thing they should improve is the wind noise that you hear in the cab while driving especially on the highway. Hyundai has also had two minor recalls, and has been good at notifying me. In saying this I would still recommend in the purchase of one of their vehicle's.

Avoid this company at all cost. They continually refuse to help on the extensive problems we have had with the 2020 Hyundai Palisade. Just search Palisade wind noise and smell on google. You should never need to visit the dealer 4 times for the same problem service engine light before you get to 1400 miles. A lot of problems with this new model. Corporate assign a representative (Paige) that was basically useless. She said up front there is not much they will do. From the start I was nothing more then a problem she needed to get off her books. Just recieved a message from her that basically said sorry about your luck. This company may be good in other parts of the world but here in the US they do not stand by their product.

The Palisade is by far the best medium size 3 row SUV out there. Not only by comparing to the highlander, Telluride, Explorer etc but also when compared to Volvo, BMW, Mercedes, Lincoln and Acura. Our previous cars are BMW and Mercedes. We believe in quality and piece of mind and always stuck with 'luxury brands'. We keep our cars for 5-7 years so always prefer to buy new from the dealership for the warranty. Our first experience with Hyundai was purchasing Hyundai Tuscon for our daughter a couple of years ago. Was and still is a very positive experience; reliable, great service, safe and comfortable for what our daughter needed. Before buying the Palisade, we researched every 3 row model in the market. We immediately narrowed our choise to medium size 3 row and not the large size so I am not comparing the Palisade to the Lincoln Navigator but rather Lincoln Aviator. The considerations for us are: 1. Safety 2. Reliability (how often will it break and how will the manufacturer and dealership handle the issue). For a new car it is based on past performance and not the specific model. 3. Interior luxury and comfort (including road noise) 4. Technology (how advanced to how many USB ports) 5. Exterior look - obviously more of a personal taste. 6. Drive performance (for the SUV, we are not looking for a street racer but strong enough to keep you safe. Sometimes you need acceleration to complete a pass and stay safe). 7. Price (while the Palisade offers GREAT value, this was important but not in the top 5 for us). The Palisade 261 points out of a maximum of 280 points. That was the highest score for us with second place being the Lincoln Aviator with 224 points. The Palisade scored in the 1st or 2nd spot in all categories. With the obvious comparison to the Telluride, we prefer the outside look of the Telluride but the inside luxury of the Palisade is several levels above the Telluride and is truly up there with top 'Luxury ' brands. Safety features includes every passive and active technology that exists. With less than 100 miles that we drove the car. It is obvious that Hyundai spent a LOT of time designing the interior. From the already advertised multiple USB plugs to things like being able to fold the 3rd row seats from the driver seat using the infotainment screen (we purchased the AWD Limited trim). Ride is smooth and quiet. Handling is superb. Lots of space on the inside but doesn't feel like driving a tank. Technology includes every feature you can think of. Touch Screen is responsive and very fast. Every feature is configurable from the setup menu. As for price, it is truly a bargain. I have e no doubt that next year they will price it higher. They also don't try to upsell any features. When you buy the limited trim every option is already included. Even the basic trim has lots included. Hyundai could have easily put the Genesis logo on the Palisade and charge at least 20k more. Highly recommended

2020 hyundai Palisade out class new Genesis GV80

While it is true there are several things which need to be corrected on this first Palisade, There is no better value on the market. The ride is very smooth compared to many other SUV's. Even comparing it to several lower end luxury SUV's. The first few had some wind noise around the front doors and windows. That problem seems to have been corrected and it is now a quiet ride. My gas mileage so far is above the ratings for highway driving, way above. 27-28mpg. There are only a couple of things which need attention. Power folding auto dimming mirrors, Better back lighted push buttons for infotainment system. Back lite over head console buttons, an active suspension. Real wood trim. If these were added to the palisade it would blow the Genesis GV80 out of the park. Yes GV80 may have power second row sun shades and the Palisades are manual. GV80 head rests are 4 way power How often do you adjust the head rest's. second row seats are power down and power up, Palisade doesn't have powerup, But then the GV80 is a two row SUV which you can order a third row seat big enough for your wife's purse. Palisade has a usable third row that have a power recline on the limited trim. They may not be the third row seats with the most room in the class, But very useable. Safety and features are one of the best in the industry you will pay 15 to 20 Thousand more to get these features on another SUV. You owe it to yourself to check out this SUV before you buy a different brand. Yes even the Genesis GV80. If you have big pockets and want a name brand badge, by al means look at Lincoln , Mercedes, Audi and the likes. Other than those save your self some money on an SUV you will really enjoy

I was originally looking at the X5 and GLE. Would have paid 20k more and had less features than the limited Palisade. They didn’t even drive significantly better. A week in and can not believe how much I love this car.

This vehicle checks all the boxes we were looking for -all the latest technology and safety features. Fit and finish feel like something you’d see from the German luxury brands. The ride is smooth and quiet and you’ll love the comfortable quilted nappa leather seating they even have a suede headliner. We went with the rainforest color (metallic green) which looks green in some lighting and more grey at other times. The lane keeping assist is one of the best I’ve seen and has a stop and go traffic feature. The third row is usable and easy to access. The turn signal has a camera that shows up in your tach gauges both left and right side Honda lane watch on steroids. The heads up display shows speed limit signs and blind spot warning as well. Remote start and lock from the app is really handy you can set the temperature beforehand so you’re ready to roll. If you’re shopping this segment make sure you check this out you won’t be disappointed!

Heavily researched this vehicle and decided to buy after the test drive. 2 weeks in now and the Palisade exceeds all expectations. Great drive, very quiet cabin, plenty of power and tech. Ignore the expert reviews, drive the Palisade and decide. 2 Year update. I sold the car. Hyundai would not address the wind noise issues. If you want this car, drive it on a windy day.

Nice car with cheap paint job and noisy at speed

I bought this car about 6 weeks ago and put on it so far 2500 miles. It handles good. Looks nice and provides almost as much space as my previous car 2012 GMC Acadia. I test drove the car on a city roads at a lower speed so I was unpleasantly surprised by noise level at higher speed. The quite ride stops at about 60 mph and the winds start hauling louder the faster you go. I also have issues maintaining connection between my phone and the car info system when I try to use navigation. I get a message that connection is lost after about 5 -10 min of being connected. My biggest disappointment came yesterday when I found out that the paint on the front grill has bubbled up on several location so it won't take long before the bubbles crack and the paint will start chipping away. I called the dealership to make an appointment but still waiting to hear back from them. I was told that my dealership doesn't provide loaners but they can rent me a car while my car is in the shop. (another bummer) I still like my car but as I said had it only for 6 weeks so only the future will tell if I ever buy Hyundai again. Good luck with your purchase.

Best decision I ever made! Beats any brand

After driving sports cars my entire life, Time came to switch to a family SUV. I spent much time and researched all the brand names. One of these brands, Mercedes, BMW, Acura, Infinity and Lexus, were the only brands i was prepared to buy. My coworker kept telling me to look at a Hyundai, but I was not having it. I went to test drive the GLE, the GLS, the X5, and all others. I settled on the GLS, and almost bought it, until the salesman pissed me off and i left the store. I decided to listen to my coworker and drove to Hyundai... I saw the Limited Palisade, and immediately loved the way it looked inside and out! Half hour later my wife came to the dealer to "snap me back to reality" (as she said it)... 3 hours later we drove home in our new 2020 Hyundai Palisade Limited AWD! I am amazed at the quality of materials as well as all the functions in this car, and biggest thing, The PRICE!!! I almost paid $90000 for Mercedes GLS 450, and for the price the car had much less features, was slower, had worse quality of materials, not to mention the warranty and the track record for reliability. I paid right about $52500 out the door, taxes, fees and all for my Palisade. To comparable level trim and features from GLS, i would have had to go up to $110000 or more. I feel like my eyes were opened for the first time, and i now see how closed minded i was in the past sticking to a name, rather than actual value. I will be shopping Hyundai from now on... Ohh yea, forgot to mention, I had to take this thing off-road just to know what it was capable of... And it performed!!! I had my friend in a Range Rover Defender with me just in case i get stuck, but i did not need any help and was able to get through all areas with relative ease. My friend commented that he has seen people in Jeeps get stuck in some of the spots that i was able to clear. I Love this car!!!!

Great vehicle but.....

First the Cons. It's with the little things. Living in the Northeast US (Pennsylvania) where the weather is at times quite challenging (snow and ice in particular), for the $40k+ we paid for this, I think heated mirrors should be standard issue (unfortunately I didn't check before buying it. that's on me), some more padding to kill the road noise would be nice although it is quieter than many vehicles. The gaps on the doors should be tighter, if that even possible. I heard whistling while on the highway driving form NYC on a windy night. Yes the buttons do feel a bit cheap but you don't really touch them too much so I don't think that should be and issue. Maybe because my vehicle was built on a Friday and workers aren't as focused as they should be, thinking about the weekend? You never know. Now the Pros. It's an excellent driving SUV. Gas mileage is great (24 mpg). It gives me about 6 gallons more per gallon than the 2010 Veracruz (18 mpg) I have on the highway. Handling is fantastic. Very responsive in drive and when I use the paddles, Brakes work. All of the features work great especially that Forward warning alarm because of the nuts that stop short on the highway while I drive through New Jersey. The Driver Assist works quite well in a very windy condition where this SUV gets pushed into the next lane with a very strong gust. kudos for that. Overall I'm quite pleased with the Palisade except for those little things... 4 out 0f 5 Stars

I absolutely love this car. Best bang for your buck in the 3 row SUV market. The Drive Guidance option is well worth the upgrade on the SEL trim. Bigger touchscreen fits the overall look a little better. Plus the Highway Drive Assist makes it super easy to cruise on the highway, so smooth, it practically drives itself and if you want to take back control, just turn the features off.

Purchased my 2020 Limited in June 2020 I now have 5300 miles and am experiencing severe wind and whistling noise in the cabin. Apparently this is a common defect in this model as well as the 2019. Hyundai did issue a TSB (technician service bulletin) regarding the issue in 2019. However upon my trip to the local Hyundai dealership today I was told that there was nothing that could be done to correct the problem and Hyundai had cancelled the TSB finding that the fix does not work. I was told that if a solution is found that they will be in touch. Very disappointing for such an otherwise fine vehicle. I will be going back to my Toyota Highlander in the future.

In a comparison between Honda's lineup (including Acura their luxury line) we decided on the Palisade. I would encourage all potential buyer to take an objective look, compare the price and performance in this suv class, and you will not be disappointed. Although I'm not an expert, these reports of wind noise are - in my opinion - are overstated. That's based on spending many hours in an Acura MDX.

Great Vehicle - DON'T BUY - Hyundai can't support!

Hyundai can't support this with parts. Our windshield got smashed due to debris (350 miles from home) and has been waiting 6 weeks on a windshield. I'm told another 4 weeks likely before I get it back. 10 weeks without a vehicle I'm paying Hyundai for - not right. Many solutions exist to keep me a "Happy Driver" (term from their website), but they have offered NONE. Consumer affairs case open for weeks now - no resolution. Vehicle is great, but it is only as good as the company that stands behind it. (They also have a class action suit for windshield issues.)

We were in the market for a new midsize SUV and tried out the Lincoln Aviator, as our first choice. Our second choice was the Kia Telluride. Our third choice was the Hyundai Palisade. After driving all three, we chose the Palisade over the Kia. The Aviator, although very plush, couldn't even compete in ride comfort. It was much more powerful than the Palisade or the Kia and also $20K more expensive. The Palisade had the identical ride characteristics of the Telluride. The Kia may have appealed to me initially, but when we test drove the Palisade, we immediately fell in love with the much more luxurious looking interior. The layout of the controls is much more intuitive than those of the Telluride. The exterior is, although subjective, a more luxury oriented design than the Telluride, which is more leaning toward a rugged look. What finally made us choose the Palisade, was the better interior, as that is where we will spend the majority of our driving experience.

I traded in a Toyota 4 Runner Limited for my brand new SEL with Convenience package and premium package. I absolutely love this car!!!! It has so much room inside it and all the bells and whistles I could ever want in a car. No more 16mpg and I feel like I’m driving a very upscale car without the high price tag. It has been a real head turner people everywhere ask me what kind of car it is. I am so happy with my choice! I test drove the 2020 Toyota Highlander, Kia Telluride, Lexus RX 350 F sport and finally the 2020 Ford Explorer. While I was in between the telluride and the explorer I found this jewel and fell in love! Everything about this car screams upscale luxury and the comfort while ever a sporty drive mode checks all the boxes. You won’t be disappointed!

First Hyundai - Never Thought I'd Own One..

Huntcon, 03/24/2020

Basically.. I never thought I own a Hyundai and this car changed my mind. In the past I've been a BMW, GMC, Mazda, and Toyota owner and usually keep my vehicles about 6-7 years. In this instance, I was impressed not only with the driveability, features, fit and finish, or the amount of value of this vehicle, but also impressed with Hyundai's 10 year 100,000 mile powertrain warranty. Not just that, but our local dealer has a policy through CNA insurance to insure the car for UNLIMITED mileage and years for the powertrain.. That means that we'll likely keep this vehicle for longer. I was extremely pleased with all the gadgetry. A family member bought a fully-loaded Audi Q7 last December. When comparing the two, outside of the FLIR night vision front camera which detects animals and people at night, it has most of the other features.. Now, I have to say that their vehicle cost them north of $90k where ours was south of $50k.. Value for your hard earned money is definitely with the Palisade. We opted for the Palisade simply because of looks since the KIA Telluride has the same features, we went for exterior and interior looks. Needless to say, we are extremely happy with our decision.

Driven all brands and kinds of SUVs. This one has them all beat. Replaces the meh Santa Fe...bigger, sharper, bolder in every way. Destroys the Accura MDX...the engine accelerates with ease and power. The Palisade is possibly the best thing to come from Hyundai since they spun out Genesis. The exterior is unique. And sharp. The interior looks like something you would see inside Mercedes and the safety features assist without being confusing or annoying. Genesis is coming out with their own SUV in the spring of 20. Don’t know how it could be better than the Palisade, but I will be eager to see if this gets even better.

Bought the AWD Limited at the end of March.2020. Have less than 300 miles on it (Corona virus stay at home reason). So far it seems to be an excellent vehicle. As of today, 5/3/2020, I counted the reviews for the limited AWD. There are (2) 1 star reviews, 1 of which was complaining about the MSRP rather than the car itself; (1) 2 star; (1) 3 star; (2) 4 star and (23) 5 star (counting my review). I've concluded you can please most people most of the time but some people none of the time. Granted, some times you may get a lemon. Now my review. First the cons: no outside folding mirrors; no sun glass holder; lack of compass in mirror; no little storage space for coins; somewhat hard seats; controls for front passenger seat lacking controls that driver's seat has; 2nd row seats lack power to go back up; stop and go inconsistent. These really aren't complaints just mostly preferences. Now the pros: Oh my! Let me just say it would be hard to find a more luxurious car with the amount of technology and the little extras Hyundai engineers have thought of in the Palisade. I won't elaborate on them all because you can read the other 5 star reviews and others online about all the features. All I can say is this is probably the best overall vehicle I have ever owned and I'm an older person so I've owned several over the years. Another thing of note. Compare the warranties and free service Hyundai offers. This vehicle is hard to beat for the price and features! Can you tell I really like this car.

I looked into and watched multiple reviews all SUVs (pilot, 2020 explorer platinum, Tahoe, Escalade, navigator, telluride, aviator). Test drive a 2020 explorer platinum before this one and let me tell you this limited has so many features it blows away the competition, plus it has a nice luxury aspect to it, which was one of the features I was looking for. Watch full YouTube reviews on this car to see all the features, it’s amazing. The third row is roomy and I have no leg room issues (5’2”) and the seats recline nicely, there’s no console between the two captains chairs in the second row so if someone tall is in the third row, they can put their legs between those seats. The MSRP at the dealership was a little less than what it is on the website when you build and price it. I used to dislike Hyundai’s, but they have come a long way! I feel like next year they could easily increase the MSRP for this suv and make it closer to the price of the 2020 Ford Explorer platinum (60k) and people would still buy this.

I drove two of the at different dealers and had the same opinion even though they were different trims. First thing is the mirrors are now power folding as one would expect on a higher end SUV, I hated the push button selector for transmission and the wind noise. I had a Sonata in 2011, two Kia Optimas and now a 2018 Kia Sorento and all have wind noise. This is my last Kia/Hyundai as the Sorento has annoyting little quirks. I found the Palisade , much like the Telluride just does not have that POW when passing, there is a little stutter or delay and it seems the transmission is straining when you punch it to pass. The interior is nice, no place to store your sunglasses and ink pens. I did like power control for rear seats, though we would hardly use them. There was not a lot of storage behind the third row, but for me that is a non issue as I would have them folded down most of the time as I do now on the Sorento. Overall the value is great, but I need to see the next generation to see improvements.

I am going to start with the cons, just to get them out of the way: 1) TRUNK SPACE....with all the seats up, it cannot take a stroller. There, I said it, someone needed to. 1" is all you need. Hopefully they fix this in the next model. 2) AWD LOCK BUTTON.... you cannot lock in AWD, on the Canadian models anyways. In saying that their is snow, sand and mud mode, but they essentially kick in. All wheels are not in use all the time. Now in saying that it is still a monster in the snow! 3) GROUND CLEARANCE.... yes 8" is nice, but 10" is what it needs. I've seen then witn a 2" lift kit and it completely changes the look of the vehicle. Now for the good stuff. Gas mileage is great for a vehicle that size.. 24mpg average is not bad at all. Ride is very very smooth, engine and transmission deliver like silk. Engine power is great on the highway for passing and accelerating. In the city at lower RPMs is far from sporty. Safety features up the ying yang. Interior design can compete with luxury brands. All in all hyundai and kia pulled a rabbit out of their hat. It is a beautiful vehicle, top quality. I have driven the ascent, explorer, cx-9, highlander, pilot, explorer & atlas. The only vehicle that comes close is the cx-9, only in sportiness, (a hell of a lot smaller) and the explorer. Way Faster,& rear wheel drive. But doesnt drive as nice, cheaper interior, more expensive & blotchy transmission. Go palisade!

I haven't had a 6 Cyl car in 10+ years and apparently they've come a long way! The power under the hood of this SUV is impressive. The design and aesthetic of the interior is superior to its competitors. It's sleek and modern, the seats are comfortable and the center console has so much storage. My particular model has the captain chairs and it provides so much more room for the kids. The third row isn't cramped. Although there isn't much storage space beyond the third row, I just need the seats to carry these kids and their friends. The car has multiple USB ports throughout and the dual air controls the kids love. The exterior of this car I can't get over. It's friggin awesome. I love the front grill and the view of a hood again! My Elantra and Santa Fe I couldn't even see the hood. I can see the front of this vehicle and I so enjoy upgrading into this! We are Hyundai owners for life now. TY Checkered Flag Hyundai World VB!

Great Value!

Great Value! by Monchmant from Loudon, TN on December 25, 2019 Was looking for a replacement car for our 2015 Nissan Murano. While looking at Sorrento's at the local Kia dealer noticed and then test drove the Telluride. Very nice car but more "truckish" than the Hyundai Palisade. Also, the top of the line Telluride SX only came with black wheels which I did not want. So went to the local Hyundai dealer, test drove the Palisade and loved it. The Palisade cost a little more than the Telluride but in my opinion is much more refined. Looked at both the SEL and Limited versions. There is a fairly large price jump (about $7,000) between these two versions but with the Limited you get the Nappa quilted leather, dual panel moonroof, Harmon Kardon sound system, upgraded headliner, ventilated front seats, heated/cooled rear seats, third row power seats, digital dash, ambient lighting, driver seat cushion extension and blind spot warning. Due to high demand and short supply, dealers are charging $2-$10,000 over sticker. I finally found two dealers each about a 2.5 hours drive that were charging no more than invoice. Never paid full invoice for any car I ever previously bought but for a high demand car, full invoice is a good price. Plus, at a price of $46,000, the car is equal to or better than other higher end cars like Audi, Acura, Mercedes, Lexus, etc. that cost $20-$50,000 more. I have had the car about a month now. The ride is fantastic and can be adjusted to several different driving modes. The seats are very comfortable and the Nappa leather is top notch. The Harmon Kardon sound system is probably the best I have ever had in any car. The digital dash is awesome and when you engage the turn signal, a camera view down either the right or left side of the car pops up in the dash, temporarily replacing the speedometer and RPM dials. The Infotainment system is simple and easy to use touch screen. The push button transmission is nice (the Telluride has a traditional stick shifter). My wife loves the large storage area under the console for storing her purse. The independent heating/cooling module for the second row is nice. Each seating row has its own cupholders, even the third row. The second row is power down, manual up and the third row is power up and down. No car is perfect and here are a few minor negatives. The on/off start button is hidden by the steering wheel. The wireless phone charger pad is located in the bottom of the console well along with both cup holders. I can envision spilling coffee on my I-phone someday. Whenever you walk by the proximity lift gate opener it beeps and wants to open. I believe that is why most other car companies use the "leg kick" system. The engine seems to be noisy at idle on the outside of the car but fortunately cannot be heard on the inside. Not sure why they did not offer a panoramic moonroof rather than two separate moonroof. There is a "wind whistle" coming from the driver's side door. In conclusion, this is a fantastic car for the money.

For being a first production year vehicle, the Palisadr is an awesome car. It drives well, the technology in the car is awesome! The only problem I have with the car is wind noise which the dealer is addressing. At its price point, I don't think you can do better than the Paliy

Full-sized SUV?

My wife and I bought a 2020 Hyundai Palisade when our 2016 Kia Soul bit the dust. The Palisade has seating for the whole family and is quite luxurious and loaded with options. Unfortunately, it isn't very spacious for me. I'm a tall man and our old Kia Soul had more room for me. The problem is that all new cars are designed to give the driver the experience of driving a sports car. Why do I want flappy paddle shifters in my family SUV? Well, I got them. I like the warranty and the high level trim. We'll see how durable it is. The Atkinson cycle engine sounds odd at idle but returns decent gas mileage for a large vehicle.

Love everything about it. Spent 6 mos researching, test-driving and comparing models. This is a win-win, but get them to come down a couple thousand first. Still some glitches with auto wipers and slight wind noise in passenger side window. But beautiful, roomy, sleek, quiet, and full of fun gizmos and gadgets!

It's everything you want in a SUV this size and soooo much more. Drivers have everything within easy reach. I like everything being a button. No longer have to raise my glass up and OVER the shifter, it's all push buttons. Infotainment has everything you need and some you didnt know you could get. This SUV draws attention. I have the steel gray, limited. I look for places to go just so I can drive it. I like that the heads up display also show driving directions as well. It will show " 1 mile" with an arrow point to the right so you can see when you need to turn without taking your eyes off the road. The heated and ventilated 2 row captains chairs and really nice. This is an SUV dreamers are made of, and I'm loving it.

Best Car We've Ever Owned

We were at the dealership getting an oil change on our Hyundai Tuscon when the Palisade on the showroom floor caught our eye. It looked regal but with an attitude. We took our Tuscon home that day, but couldn't forget about the Palisade we had seen. We admired the unique color options, especially the Sierra Red; unfortunately, no dealership within 100-miles had one with the features we wanted and needed. So, we settled on the Rainforest SEL AWD 3.8L V6 with the Convenience package. It's so quiet and bumpy roads are barely noticeable. The Palisade is constantly aware of what's going on around it, can pair with my Android smartphone via Android Auto app; which, basically turns the SUV into a giant smartphone! The safety features are amazing and make me feel safe when driving. My only complaint would be the suction in the Palisade when the back windows are open. Whenever we have our Greyhound along for a ride, we have to have all windows open just to keep our ears from feeling too much pressure (yes, all so she can stick her head out the window LOL). It's a weird sensation. The proximity alarm can also be a bit annoying, especially when wild flowers or weeds brush up against the fender or bumper on the side of the road or when pulling into the garage. It beeps so gawdawfully loud; nevertheless, that feature can be turned on and off with the push of a button. All-in-all a great vehicle with plenty of seating and option for bench seating or captain's chairs. We opted for bench seats.

Very satisfied so far with the vehicle. Honestly many of the tech and safety features are only found in cars that are $20k more. Great for a AWD family hauler.

We bought a Palisade SEL with convenience and premium packages about a week ago. This car runs like a charm and we love the fact that we can actually have eight regular adults comfortably in the car. The design of the interior of the car is so nice. I finally have a place for my bag that is easily accesible. The only downside that I have found so far is the lack of power mirrors, but it is just a minor inconvenience that would never be a deal breaker for me.

We looked for months for a SUV that would meet our family's needs. The Hyundai Palisade limited exceed our expectations! We have a 2011 Hyundai Equus and love the luxury look and ride. The Palisade gave us that and much more! We have had ours since Oct 2019 with no issues.

Replaced Jeep GrandCherokee with Palisade Limited

By far the best decision we've made this year. I have never been a fan or interested in Hyundai autos. Their reputation of being standard grade interiors and poor engine power kept me away from this auto maker. Until I saw an ad about their new SUV, the Hyundai Palisade and the photos of the interior showing all the dashboard electronics, plush leather seats, and dual sunroofs caught my attention. I immediately began my research into this vehicle and I knew we had to go take a look at it and absolutely needed to test drive it. I was expecting to be disappointed about all the hype on their ad but we instantly fell in love with this vehicle. Enough space for 7 passengers to be super comfortable. The front and middle seats are cooled and heated, some features that my Jeep did not have and also our BMW 430i does not include unless we paid extra for it. These are standard features on the Palisade Limited edition which includes Nappa Leather Seats, safety cameras and safety features everywhere on this vehicle, all seats recline...YES, ALL, included the third roll seat. The engine and stability feels great. It's an overall very well designed vehicle and a very sturdy vehicle. I now have a very different view on Hyundai and they are truly stepping up their game. They also have the best warranty we have seen in our past car buying experiences with 10 years or 100,000 miles! You should definitely go take a look at one if you are in the market for a new SUV.

This is by far my favorite vehicle of all time. I would buy it again. I researched and test drove every SUV in this class of 3rd rows, including some “above” class models. I do not regret buying this vehicle at all. It drives like a dream (think FUN!), has plenty of power, space, comfort, and tech. It is an absolutely balanced vehicle in every way. Mine is smooth and tight. I got the SEL AWD w/ Convenience Pkg. The best value in the line-up. Love this car! I still make up reasons to go drive it...
