Had my doubts about the new IVT trans.
After a test drive fell in love with the new trans.. With Hyundai's 100k power train warranty, not worried about it being a new design. Hyundai continues to improve sound quality. This is my third elantra & each new vehicle has been a very noticeable improvements years. ( usually trade every 3 or 4 years. In the 2020 model many new safety features have been added from my 2017 edition. Only have a few hundred miles on it so far, will keep you updated as the mileage increases. All three of my Elantras have averaged better than 40 mpg. A real surprise was that Hyundai finally added a REAL horn to this vehicle.👍 👏 😀
Bad Transmission
Transmission failed at 3500 miles and had to be completely replaced (took over 2 weeks but was covered by warranty). Now at 6500 miles it is happening again and I was essentially told I would have to pay or wait for it to completely fail again. If it does, I will be contacting a lawyer about lemon laws. I need a reliable car and can't afford to rent a car for two weeks every three months.

Love my 2020 Elantra
Drove a 2017 Elantra Ltd for 2+ years, then thought I needed a bigger vehicle and bought a 2019 Toyota Rav 4. Traded that in after 3 months for a 2020 Elantra. Love this car. Love the way it handles, love the gas mileage, the seats, the way it looks, the onboard gps, the sound system. Love the color(red). I smile every time I get in the car. Zippy car and fun to drive. It is the ultimate.
Bad transmission
I bought a new 2020 Hyundai Elantra in Dec. 2019. In Dec. 2020 the car had to be towed because the transmission went. The car had 7,000 miles.

Very satisfied so far
I have owned this car almost 3 years now. No problems except it takes the engine longer than most cars to warm up in cold weather which I am told is normal. I drive in eco mode and get ~ 36 MPG and I drive about 8000+ miles a year. The car looks great in the red color. It has sufficient power for me, is reasonably confortable on highway trips, has all the tech I want including Blind Spot Monitoring and Cross Traffic Alert which both work well. For a compact car it has a lot of room.
2020 ELANTRA VALUE IS SURPRISING!
Although I am usually a crossover kind of diver I decided to give the 2020 Elantra a go. I was not disappointed. I went with the Value due to the sunroof! I sacrificed a few things for it but in the end I can not say enough great things about this car. Gas mileage is great, ride is smooth. I enjoy that I have 3 different modes to drive in, Smart, normal and sport. I feel as if it has plenty of space in the back for kids and adults. The display is easy to use and the apple car play is fantastic. The lane assistance was surprising to test out. Doesn't read lanes so well in rain, but that is to be expected right? Although I didn't get the infinity sound system I still find that my sound is great, I'm a rocker and like my music LOUD! I have only put a couple hundred miles on it in the last week that I have owned it, but I would recommend it to many commuters and honestly single families. I have owned two other Hyundai's and have not been disappointed thus far. Their warranties are truly the best.
good little car from hyundai as usual
we just leased a second elantra for my daughter. the first thing that jumped out to me was that this car feels a lot more sturdy than the '17 she was driving. that car felt kinda tinny. we got the SEL package and I was surprised at all the safety features that came with this package. I can't vouch for anything like mileage as we just got the car but i'm confident that the numbers will reflect the typical elantra numbers.

A great car to drive
The Value edition has some excellent features and a classy finish, roomy inside for a sedan with good boot space, and very smooth to drive.
No Complaints
Just traded in my 2018 for the 2020 (great finance deal) and not sure why Edmunds rated it so low. It’s a great value for the price. I think it’s a quiet and smooth ride, handles well, and the upgrades from the 2018 are nice as well. Plus the 5 year/60,000 warranty is nice.
Fun Rental Car to Drive
I'm currently renting a 2020 Elentra SEL as my SUV is in the shop and I'm really digging it! I find it pretty peppy, has good gas mileage, huge trunk, lots of rear leg room, strong AC, and has the safety features I'm interested in. Funny how some magazine reviews will say it is slow but, they are probably used to testing expensive European luxury cars. I have to get on the Pasadena 110 freeway every day which is the one with stop signs at the on-ramps. Have no problems getting on the freeway. I will seriously consider getting this or a Forte when my current lease is up.

2 year review
It’s been 2.5 years since I purchased the Elantra. I haven’t had any mechanical issues. Gas mileage has been good and I like the infotainment screen. It is big enough for daily use and reacts well to touches. The infinity speakers provide great enjoyment when listening to music and radio listening. I also like the perforated leather seats. It gives a luxury look. Engine performance is adequate.

It has the best features for your money. It’s got an ample amount of room and does amazing on gas mileage. This model meets and surpasses the features of many other car brands otherwise recognized as “fully loaded”

disappointed
I leased 2020. I thought I would lease . If you had asked me a month ago I would have given it 5 stars. I loved the way it looked, drove and extra features. But a few weeks ago the engine light came on and car wouldn't start, I brought it to Hydundai I was told it was the starter, that was fixed, I picked it up on the way home the light came on, I brought it back. Next they me it was the CVT and they would replace that and the surrounding parts, When that was done they said it still having problem with it. Now I am told its the timer so now they are replacing that. I leased a new car so I would have any problems but the last few weeks its been nothing but problems!!!! Is anyone else having the same issues I'm having? Please let me know. This is a new car these problems shouldn't be happening. Terrible!!!!!

Great Value
I downsized from a 2017 Hyundai Sonata Sport, and I can say that, while certainly a smaller vehicle with less power, the Elantra is a great commuter car. MPG averages around 33-34 mpg in traffic commutes and higher in highway settings. The engine is not very powerful but the inside of the vehicle is spacious for driver and passenger (less so for rear passengers). The safety equipment with the Value Edition surpasses that of some luxury vehicles. If you are looking for a value commuter car I can recommend this.
First Brand New Car!
Searched for months for the right Elantra. Finally found the trim that I wanted with the color combination that I wanted. I ended up buying a 2020 Hyundai Elantra Limited with the Ultimate Package in white with a black interior. Couldn't be happier with my purchase! The car is so sharp looking and I constantly have people looking at it, wondering what kind of car it is. I love the LED head and tail lights and the Apple Carplay is very easy to use. I've been averaging 28-30 so far, but I've only had it a few days so that will probably go up as I break it in.

Wonderful car!
Gorgeous exterior and interior. Such a great value for all the features it has. Makes you feel very safe. Freehold Hyundai was amazing through the process. Jonnie, T, and Cary were all great!
Nice car, but not great for short folks
Just purchased, have about 100 miles on the car. It handles well and is good on gas mileage. Love the exterior design. However, I am really short, about 5' and the drivers seat is way too long and hits the back of my knee. I have adjusted the seat, tried cushions, to no avail. It is really frustrating. So much so, I may have to trade the car in for another make. At first I thought it was a design flaw with my car. The shop inspected it and it is fine. After sitting in many other Elantras and Sonatas, I realized the 2020 Hyundai's are not designed well for short people. I did not realize this on the test drive, so just a word of caution to all the short folks out there. If I was about three inches taller, I probably would give the car a four star rating.
two time elantra owner
Everything very nice for my wife to drive back and forth to work. Very reliable so far for both elantras.
perfect car
I really like how smooth it rides. The technology is excellent, lane assist, blind spot monitoring, back up camera, driver attention monitoring, android car play, etc.... I am very happy with the car

Wonderful Car
This is my 2nd Elantra. I gave my 2017 Elantra to my son and purchased a new 2020 Elantra for my wife. The 2017 has been a wonderful car with some great gas mileage beyond what was stated when you get out onto the open road. We have only had the 2020 for a few days but so far it is as nice as my first. Smooth running, fairly quiet. It has nice tech features that my wife really loves. It glides along so easily and when you take your foot off the gas it continues to coast along barely loosing speed which I love. It is comforatble and has plenty of trunk space and plenty of room inside. I am 6 ft 2 in and can sit in the back and have plenty of leg room. It has 3 performance modes; Standard, Smart and Sport. Smart helps increase the gas mileage and the Sport does a nice job of tightening up the handling and increasing the power. I would not hesitate to purchase another Elantra in the future. The acceleration in all modes is more than enough to get you up to speed quickly if you chose.

This is my 4th Hyundai Elantra since 1995.
Due to technology in these cars the safety gets better every few years. I am amazed at the electronic features that come with the car. I never buy most expensive models and this Elantra SEL 2020 came with just the right features I wanted, even more after I read the manual. The Elantra suits my lifestyle perfectly and I have good faith in both Hyundai USA in honoring their warranties and nofifying the consumer of call-backs if and when they occur.

A banger of a car
I'm very happy with the performance of my new car. The list of features that come with the car are great from picking up where you left off on a podcast using the Bluetooth to lane assist. The available features are just awesome. The Elantra feels good driving it has great get up and go. The ride is very smooth and quiet. There is plenty of trunk space. It's a great car at a really solid price with a warranty that give me peace of mind.

The 2020 Elantra is a real nice car.
This is actually my 4th Elantra (2011, 2014, 2017 and 2020-All but the first one the Limited model. The new IVT engine is peppy, especially in Sport Mode. The leather seats are very comfortable, the upgraded sound and the Navigation system are the best yet for the Elantra. The headlights are excellent on the Limited and the safety features are impressive, The car is reasonably quiet (except ove bad or deeply grooved pavement. The modes is by far the best handling Elantra I've owned...really fun to drive over mountain roads. My only complaints are the dropping of the rear heated seats (WHY)?, and not having a pull-down cover for the front of the dash where the phone plug-ins and the handy wireless phone charger are located. I miss the chrome door handles that I had on the 17 and 14 model but I LOVE the new Portofino Dark Gray color (travelled 170 miles to a dealership that had one). All in all, an excellent car

Received 0% APR from Hyundai on my 2020 Elantra sport Turbo. Love car and no interest is insane. Thanks Hyundai
VERY SAFE CAR
i totaled this same car hitting a rock wall getting off interstate going 65 mph (didn’t have a seatbelt on, i’m not smart i know) but i left with only a few scratches and car was completely crushed so i highly recommend
All the Bells and whistles
I chose the Limited so it's well equipped but does have less interior storage than the Sonata
Powerful and fluid but not easy to get in and out
I had to get a rental, the rental place gave me a 2020 Hyundai ELANTRA four-door sedan. Here are the pros: Super fluid when it drives, makes you feel like you’re flying, very smooth, lots of power, unbelievable fantastic sound system and speakers, plugged in my USB from my iPhone XR and immediately it plays songs from YouTube, no programming no confusion or rocket science to figure out how to get the phone hooked up to the car To play music. Plenty of special additions and cruise control. The cons: Not great on gas, not easy to get in and out of due to bucket seats. If you have long legs forget it, don’t buy this car- and I’m not even tall!

2020 elantra sel-rental car
flew into montana, had a choice between the elantra, corolla,or a sentra.since i currently own a new sonata limited 2.0t,and have owned 2 elantra sports,it was a no brainer..well,i was wrong.to be fair, this was a 2020 sel with over 14,000 miles on it,so no telling how it was driven.i tried to let air out of the tires due to a very stiff ride, pressure st at 36 and above on each tire.the ivt transmission was horrible.yes,it was smooth, but i couldn't tell where the power was coming from..the drivers' seat was kind of low, thank goodness for height adjustment..much better than expected.the overall interior looked very cheap for the sel model.again,i have a 2019 sonata limited 2.0t,so quite a difference.the interior noise level was loud, but the gas mileage made up for quite a few negatives.at over 65mph,this car got 46mpg with the a/c on and outside temp of 90. much smoother out on the interstate, but both of my elantra models had leather seats, and a lot of other stuff .but, with all of the safety features standard, still not a bad car.i just hate the transmission.
steering problems
recently i purchase a 2020 hyundai elandra limited on 12.2.2021 less than a month steering problem when makeing right and left turn a rubbing noise come from steering wheel, now it need bearing assy.first they were telling me that is normal for that all hyundai makes that noise when turning left and right. also i went into downey hyundai in downey on 2/2/2022 at 7:10 am for them to fix the problem of replaceing the bearing thats were i purchase the car about 2 months ago now the had the part their the service advisor said it would be fix by 4pm i was their about 3 hours and then the service advisor came and told me they did not have the special tool to remove the bearing and could not be fix and the special tool comes with the new bearing, and it would take another three weeks to get it. that didnot make any sence if the didnot have the tool why did they start the process the car is still under warranty it looks like they didnot want to repair it, so i went to another hyundai dealer and ask them do they need a special tool to remove bearing they said no and no special tool come with the bearing that deliveried and hyundai would have all tool to do the job, and the service advisor velazquez ricardo at that location in downey is not honoring the warranty. When I recently contact them they are saying service advisor is not their and they are their useing racial remarks

My Honest Thought
I left my Chevy Malibu for this Hyundai 2020 SEL, the Hyundai has cool features to assist you while driving. The Hyundai is really small inside though the trunk of the car is small & the music quality of the car is lacking so much comparing to my old vehicle which was a 2016 Malibu LS. It’s pretty on the outside but lacks minor things to have an upside on competitors. Most likely getting rid of mine after 18 months. The Apply Play steady is popping up on my screen when I have my iPhone 11 out when I plug it up to the USB.

Very comfortable car. Loaded with safety features. Very nice interior with electronic driver display. Highway mileage 50-55 mpg.

2020 elantra se
First Hyundai its ok but noisy cabin and slow pick up . I should have stuck with Camry, much better car. Lousy sound on radio, no CD. Paid 20000 they wouldnt take it back for 15000 one month later. My mechanic told me, after the fact, that they all burn oil and that is why it has such a long warranty. I'd prefer a car that doesnt need a long warranty. My mistake. Mitsubishi has entry level car starting at 12000. Much better car Worst vehicle i've ever owned. I used to enjoy driving now I actually will walk if not going too far.I guess thats a positive! It's the chevy chevette of Korean cars. I don't know what i was thinking. Hasn't gotten any better. Several recalls. Most recent one sounds serious. Engine rings are faulty. That is a major engine job. Engine must be completely taken apart. Just received recall notice.

This car sucks!!!!!
Pissed off I have to give it a one. The interior noise is not quiet. You hit 50 mph and it gets really loud then goes away at about 56. You have to take out the drivers side wheel and liner to change the drivers side headlight. The headlights have gone out twice in less than a year. The headlights don't illuminate the road very well so you can't see well when making sharp turns at night. They are cheap to replace. Hard braking is not smooth. It doesn't connect to your contacts so you can't have it call someone by name or recent calls, you actually have to dial the number. It doesn't have rear seat cupholders. The lane keep assist is inconsistent. It occasionally disables the front end collision avoidance system for unknown reasons. Anything put in the passenger seat sets off the seatbelt chime. If you have a light out it constantly chimes to let you know. One chime upon entering the vehicle should be good enough. To lower the back of the rear seat a mechanism in the trunk needs to be pulled instead of just having a latch on the seat. This takes up trunk space and makes lowering the seat more difficult than it should be. Gas mileage is decent at 33 - 37 MPG per tank. It claims to have a 14 gallon tank but says it's empty at less than 12 gallons. I have never put 12 gallons in it when it claims it's out of gas.

Not my type of car
Dont get me wrong, Hyundai got me in a brand new car after paying off my negative equity dodge dart. However when I walked in I wanted a Velsoter. They informed me that they were out of stock. So they put me in this. I got a good deal on it and I needed a car because my dart needed a new engine. So I said well why not. Mistake. No cd player. Seats are not made for short people. I'm 4"11, the contour of the seat doesnt match with my lower back it actually sits on my mid back. Slide the seat back too far I cant reach the gas pedal. Slide it more to the front, my foot smashes into the brake pedal. There is no win! The car is slow and heavy. Dont even get me started on the ugly looking bolt on hub caps. I'm trading it back in this year, upside down or not I just cant mentally tell myself to be happy with this car.
