I’m a big guy, over 6 foot, around 300 pounds, and this car has plenty of room. I bought the car new with 3000 miles, and a year and a half later I’m almost to 60,000 miles. I have had no problems, the car still averages between 36 and 38 miles per gallon, and it has all the technology I’d ever want. Update: The car now has over 130,000 miles and the only thing I have ever done is changed the tires and oil. Still gets well over 35 mpg and is comfortable. Update: still love it. Now close to 150k miles and has never been in the shop. Still gets 35+ mpg

Limited is near luxury car bargain

Shopped a lot of sedans before deciding on my Elantra Limited. Two years on still very happy with my choice. Civic was main contender, but it was spartan by comparison-even in its top (Touring) trim level. The Civic's leather did not even match between the front and back seats! (perforated front, smooth in back- WTF?). Unlike Civic, the Limited had memory power front seat, passenger height adjust, dynamic (aiming) headlights, lumbar adjust, and more. Longer warranty, and better reliability ratings (Honda ain't what it used to be). Braking is better with the Elantra, and handling is a wash. The ONLY thing the Civic offered was more power (optional 1.5L turbo), and that costs you $thousands more (actual street prices). And my actual mpg's (gals per mile traveled) easily beat EPA estimates. Consistently been 38-39mpg on 20+ mile commute 75%hwy/25%city. Long trips are 42-44mpg at 70-75mpg. (I chart every tankful for business purposes). Update Jun '22- 4+ yrs and more impressed as the miles/time pass. Still trouble free (just gas, oil, and new tires) and an honest 40+mpg highway (low 70's mph roundtrips on Midwest interstates). Interior has aged well with minimal signs of wear. With the Lmited/Ultimate trim packages this has literally been a near-luxury car experience on a budget (and I am a former Cadillac owner). Continue to be VERY happy with the car. Update June 2023- Continues providing trouble-free efficient service FAR above its price class. Tranny continues to deliver exceptional shifting (in any price class) & engine (while no drag racer) runs like a top. Continues going 40+mpg (low 70's mph) on highway trips (lowest highway tankful was 36mpg into a consistent 20+ mph headwind). Interior has worn exceptionally well & still looks almost showroom new. Routine maintenance tasks are easy. I can readily see why that Midwest delivery driver put over a million miles on this drivetrain.

High five to Hyundai - I love my Elantra!

Mary, 06/22/2019
2017 Hyundai Elantra Value Edition 4dr Sedan (2.0L 4cyl 6A)
2 of 2 people found this review helpful

Love my Elantra (value edition)! Classy yet sporty look, smooth sailing when driving on the highway yet the steering is tight enough to handle the unexpected when it comes your way. I would definitely recommend this car. Sport mode gives a punch of speed at a moments notice if needed - so handy on steep mountin roads when other cars tend to crawl! The seating is adjustable in many ways to ease the pain of long cross country trips that last for hours. The darker gray exterior color stays fresh looking even during high-pollen season. Plenty of room in the trunk - split fold-down back seat is handy for long items yet allows for back seat passenger. Touch screen technology at dash area is easy to use and not very distracting. Back up camera and side alert make for a huge bonus in safety. Sun/moon roof is great for cross ventilation without wind blowing my hair in my face! I had my doubts about the stereo system though... I happen to love my CDs and want to slide one in whenever I want. But there is no CD player!!! Yes, there are plenty of other options like blue tooth, USB port for plug in and pandora/satellite radio service etc. But I wanted my own music that I knew and loved at a touch of a button. However, i got a huge surprise when I found out that I could put my cds on a memory stick and load them into the memory of my Elantra through my USB port. A new "music" icon pops up and I can add play lists or entire cds by album right into my car memory and don't have to keep the stick plugged in. I believe it holds close to 100 songs. YAY! CD problem solved! Awesome feature and a high five to Hyundai for including it. Yeah, I love my 2017 Elantra - all 33,000 + miles so far!

Great car

This car is a huge improvement over the last generation Elantra. It is a much more refined vehicle. Hyundai did a lot of work making this car more quiet, with the use of more high strength steel, almost 400ft of adhesive and thicker glass, the driving feel is more hushed and pleasant. The interior is very modern, yet practical. I use android auto and it works flawlessly. I have been averaging between 43 and 46 mpg driving mostly highway miles, which is awesome. Oh by the way I forgot to mention, I paid only 17k for a limited model. Overall this is a great car for the money. So far 94k trouble free miles, other than oil changes, tire rotations and a new set of tires at 60k the vehicle has not seen the dealer for any repairs. Would recommend this vehicle to anyone. After 115k of trouble free miles,, I traded this vehicle in for a 23 model, hopefully the reliability streak will continue on

Extremely Impressive for a "Compact Economy Car"

Wikoli (Victor), 06/13/2017

Traded a 2014 Sonata SE with sport and tech packages, which was a great car, no problems for a 2017 Elantra Limited with Tech and Ultimate packages. This is a totally new Elantra from the 2016 and I think Hyundai hit a home run. Had our choice of blue/black or red/beige. The blue was a March 2016 man date with 95 miles and looked abused and demoed poorly with sluggish acceleration. The red/beige was a July 2016 man date with 8 miles and demoed great with spirited acceleration and looked beautiful, and was very clean and still had new car smell. So we went for the red. Very impressed with the quietness for such a small car (aircraft grade chassis adhesives.). Very impressive for a "compact economy car". First tank was 36 MPG. Great nav and entertainment on the sharp 8" display. Incredible Infinity audio system, best since our 2007 Nissan Rockford Fosgate. No CD, so we'll have to transfer our music. Beautiful interior with dash setup same as new Sonata. They separated the climate control display and outside temp display from the LCD, good move. Got the Continental tires instead of the Korean ones, don't know, but I'm assuming they're better. Drawbacks are steering is a little compact-ish, just a little stiff and pulls slightly side to side on uneven roads curvy roads. Also, the suspension, which is actually pretty firm, but it will waddle a little on the road and in parking lots with sudden direction changes. These are my only complaints, which are minor. And I'm comparing it to the Sonata with the sport package the drove like it was on rails. And the Elantra of course is more comfortable and quiet. Quality, fit and finish is impressive. Only exception was the RR door which is sticking out very very slightly on the latch side. The 1.6L engine runs great and has decent power, and has multi-point fuel injection, which is much preferable over direct injection (the 2.4 GDI Theta II direct injection on the Sonata has a recall on it). The 6 speed auto is extremely smooth. New exterior styling beautiful, toned down a bit and more European. Excellent nav, audio, interior (obviously some hard plastics), beautiful leather seats, blind spot monitoring, lane departure, adaptive cruise, auto dimming RV mirror with homelink, heated F&R seats, power driver's seat with 2 memory settings, rear view camera, sunroof, auto opening trunk, what can I say? After $6500 in rebates and discounts, it's like a mini luxury car for 21.5 K. Perfect for my five foot wife. Did immediately install a K&N air filter which gives you a couple of extra horse on the 4-banger. Here's hoping no serious recalls on the engine or anything else. These new cars are so high tech you never know.

I'm happy with the car. I maintain it at the prescribed intervals and don't drive it hard. The manual 6-speed transmission makes it fun to drive. Downshifting makes my brakes last a long time, and having a manual clutch is cheap insurance should my battery ever fail to start the motor. It handles fine at all speeds up to 75mpg, which is the fastest I've driven it. I bought it new in 2016, but it was a 2017 model and had only 8 miles on the odometer. Owing to several discounts, I paid only $17,000 for it out the door (tax & license included). I have no doubt it will continue to give me reliable service. I would buy another one without hesitation.

The Hyundai dealership realized there error and sold it to me for the lower price anyway. It's a great car and we absolutely love it. I got 40.4 MPG on the way home at 5MPH under the speed limit. The only thing I don't like is that the android auto app requires a USB connect and doesn't work over blutooth. (The kids blew out my HDMI ports by hot swapping cables on the 72" TV so I worry about these things now.)

It's very simple, any car that has a 100,000 mile and/or 10 year warranty, is not building junk. They have the customers interest at hand.

I have now had the car for over six years. I am extremely disappointed with the car. I have had to bring the car in for service for various electrical problems. It is very annoying and time consuming. My last car was a Toyota Corolla that I had for 26 years. I never had to bring the car in for service except for normal maintenance. I am also extremely disappointed with the gas mileage. When I first got the car, the mileage was great. The mileage has gotten worse since I have had the car. The Elantra is NOT for long distance driving. This car is strictly for neighborhood driving. The pick-up is lousy. I am going to sell my car and definitely go back to Toyota.

Rented for 3 weeks in Florida. While making left turns before oncoming traffic, this car seemed to stall while trying to quickly accelerate... scary! barely avoided a few accidents! This occurred even in sport mode. Don't know if it was just this particular car or problem has occurred with other similar 2017 elantras? Recall on this issue?

The internet's full of car reviews - especially on the Elantra. Many may be found on Youtube. Many, if not most, of those are paid shills for cars companies, car dealers, and the like. If they're not getting cash, then they're getting other perks and goodies. Most of those guys will tell you - and sell you - two things: how a car looks, and how it drives. What these honchos won't tell you are all of the potential problems that a vehicle may have - even when those issues are well known. When was the last time you saw a review that said, "Yeehaw! This baby is sharp, fast, and handles like a dream. But, hell, this generation of the car burns oil like a smoke stack, needs the head gasket replaced by about 70 thousand miles or so; has lots of transmission failure; and if you get a sun roof, sooner or later, it's going to leak all over the place...". In the case of the Elantra, nobody, but nobody, has bothered to noticed how narrow the side windows are. Tank gun turret narrow. Indeed, the front and especially the rear windshields are pretty narrow as well. As a result, it's basement-interior dark inside. Additionally, the rear pillars are fairly wide. And, of course, as on all new cars, the head rests are freakishly huge, and jut your hard head forward so much that your spine will be permanently rounded. All of these things add up to a dark, claustrophobic interior with markedly poor visibility. You have almost zero chance of seeing anything over your left shoulder. Better get blind spot monitoring if you're seriously considering this car. But, that technology depends on a camera, and how well will that work during a big snow? Yeah, when you need it most, it'll be OTL. Oh well, put all of that out of your mind - and focus on the really important things you'll spend your hard-earned Kopecs on - stuff such as the infotainment screen size and Apple Car Play. Yeehaw.

You get alot of bang for your buck. At around 18,500$ after rebate, the Elantra value edition is baller. To me ,I think it feels more like a 23,000$ or 24,000$ car with everything they put in it. It is a very quiet ride, even at high speeds (it's even pretty quiet at 100 mph I tried). And I get excellent gas mileage without driving an ugly car ,or being" that one prius guy" everybody knows. UPDATE 11/26/17 the car now has 13k miles, I'm still loving it. I have gotten close to 50 mpg on highway roadtrips (47.3 to be exact) . I put after market speakers in the car and the only thing missing is an autostarter which is easily obtainable(for around 350$). The only 2 things about the car I think could be improved are. #1 unless it is in sport mode ,the acceleration is somewhat disappointing on lower gears. And #2 some of the plastic in the interior gets scratched pretty easily with metal high density objects. It looks very nice on the inside, but if you play with knives or something in the car, it may not be great for long . One of my scratches was actually cause by me dropping my cell phone onto the cup holder . Like yeah that easy to scratch. But its a dope car . Buy it if you aren't afraid of plastic scratches. If you find it important to zip past people and kinda be that one guy, this probably isn't the car for you. Not saying you can't do that; but this isn't a great option for that. All in all if you want an pretty affordable car with nice gas mileage ,good handling and a luxurious feel to it, this is a great choice. Also I live in an area where it snows, I would give winter handling 3/5 not too great but not too bad.

Painful Driver's Seat

Kat, 02/10/2017
2017 Hyundai Elantra SE 4dr Sedan (2.0L 4cyl 6A)
6 of 15 people found this review helpful

I rented a 2017 Hyundai Elantra sedan for a day trip (a 4 hour drive on the interstate one way and 4 hours back, all in the same day). The car 'looks' really nice, but the driver's seat is incredibly uncomfortable. After only an hour of driving, I had pain in my spine from the top of my neck to my lower back, and in my arms, hips, butt and hamstrings. Also, my right big toe kept going numb as my foot was on the gas pedal. I adjusted the seat a million ways - up, down, forwards, backwards - nothing would relieve the pain. I tried adjusting the steering wheel up and down - nothing helped. I don't typically get pain like this from driving, other than my body just getting tired from sitting for too long. Bottom line, I shouldn't get prickling pain after just 1 hour of driving. There is something ergonomically incorrect with these seats. I really think the seats are too low to the floor and that's why no amount of adjustment helps. On a positive note, the headrests were not a problem. They didn't push too forward like they do in some cars. Personally, I never want to rent this car again. It's just too uncomfortable. Maybe it's the right fit for some people, but not for me. The pain that I had from driving this car continued into the following day (after I returned the car to the rental car company). The only thing that started to relieve the pain was going to a yoga class. Last year, I rented a 2016 Hyundai Elantra sedan for a trip and experienced similar pain, but not quite to this extent. I read that Hyundai is making Elantra's seating out of a different material for 2017 (SoyFoam - which seems really cool), but I don't know if that's part of the problem, or if it's just the fact that the seats are too low to the floor. It's unfortunate because if the seats were comfortable, I would consider buying this car... but painful seats are a deal breaker.

I'm a big guy- 6 feet tall 240 and the front seat in the SE is not giving me support- my back aches driving to car but I am planning to get a special seat cushion- this is an ok car and lacks some extras that could make the car more technical savvy- Only one USB that we can find- No back up camera, and a CD player?? We wanted the basic model to lease AND WE GOT A GREAT DEAL.......payment is only $180 a month with zero down- Dealer was very knowledgeable and we were in and out in under two hours- that was cool- car looks awesome- and has a lot of room vs the competition- but it is like a rental car and I wish Hyundai would have made some simple additions in technology to the basic SE model-

Killer Seats!

Bill, 06/10/2017
2017 Hyundai Elantra Value Edition 4dr Sedan (2.0L 4cyl 6A)
5 of 13 people found this review helpful

Such a handsome car, but.....the seats are very poorly designed and extremely uncomfortable. I have the powered driver's seat with 8 adjustments and still cannot find a comfortable position! The seat bottom is very hard (like a cinder block) and keeps your knees above your hips at it's lowest angle setting. According to all I have read, this is position tilts your pelvis back and puts all your weight on your buttocks. After about 15 minutes in this seat I feel like I weigh about 500 lbs. ...and it's all concentrated on my bottom bones! I find myself squirming trying to get comfortable. After about a half hour, my feet fall asleep and my right hip starts to ache. It's so bad that I'm going to have to get rid of it at an extreme (poor resale value too) loss. I also find the steering to be too light and vague at lower speeds. I don't feel confident when I have to squeeze through tight spots at low speeds and I often feel like the car lurches left and right on curves and startles me. I did not experience these issues in my last car and wish I bought another of the same model. I've also come to find out that my former car has all the advanced safety features like, collision braking, lane departure steering and smart cruze control as standard equipment! This car cost thousands more with those options.

Canadian SE trim (One below Limited trim)

I selected this trim, since it comes with AEB (autonomous emergency braking) with all the safety bells and whistles such as forward collision warning and braking. I like the lane keep assist, which takes loads of burden off my everyday commute (52 km one way to work), and 7.5 Litres/100 km makes this a perfect every day commuter car with all creature comforts (Canadian SE trim comes with heated front and rear leather seats and heated steering wheel) at reasonable value. I am not looking for a peppy drive as you can see, I don't drive for fun, I drive to work. In short, this is a marked down Volvo. I love my 2017 Elantra limited!! I currently have 152k miles and I’ve never replaced anything outside of normal maintenance. This car is fully loaded so even the rear seats are heated. Amazing value and I just passed the car on to my grandmother as her car died. The car is super quiet on the highway, great gas mileage, super comfortable seats, infinity sound system rocks, and the paint still looks amazing almost 9 years later. Definitely recommend!!!

Not easy entry for Extra-Large people. Otherwise, it's an affordable car pretending to be a luxury/sports car and it make you believe it.

Have airbags checked out by a pro before buying

For 2 years I absolutely loved my 2017 Hyundai Elantra. It was everything I wanted in a car & then some. Two years to the day after purchase I survived a head-on crash. There was nothing left of my car in front of the windshield with the folded-up hood up against it. The engine and all else in the engine compartment were hanging from the front of the other car. My airbags did deploy, but it was questionable whether they deployed at the moment of impact. It felt like a couple of seconds after my chest slammed against the steering wheel, fracturing my sternum in half, I felt the airbags deploy. But the size of my deployed airbags left me speechless afterward. They were slightly larger than a basketball. They were not visible at all in police dept. photos from all angles of my wrecked car in the accident report. Police photos of the other car which hit me showed its deployed air bags covering its entire windshield & its driver & passenger suffered no injuries. I was hospitalized & had 50K in medical bills due to the negligence of the other driver, who was at fault. In spite of this, I really do like the Hyundai brand and my replacement car was a 2019 Hyundai Accent. If there's ever a class action suit due to defective airbags in the 2017 Elantra, I'll probably join in with my foot high stack of medical bills. Lawyers told me any lawsuit from an individual due to defective airbags is tied up in the courts for many years, thus they're only handling the injury portion of this accident. But they said if the airbags in other 2017 Elantras are like the ones in my car were, a class action suit in the future will probably occur.

Avoid Hyundai at all costs

This is the worst car we have ever had in the family. 90k miles the upper end of the motor went out under warranty. Very well taken care of car. after fighting Hyundai to honor their own 100k mile warranty it was back on the road. Now at 105 the lower end of the motor goes out, Hyundai could care less and even stated this is a wide spread problem. Even while at the dealership a newer Elantra was being towed in for losing it's motor. Do not buy any Hyundai made after 2011. They can not make a motor to save their lives. These ill milling of the oil pathways in the motors continues into 2023 with every new model.

I upgraded from a 2003 Ford Taurus, so getting this car was a huge upgrade. I love that it’s smaller but feels huge on the inside, I got the value edition so it has heated seats which work AMAZING. I like the adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist. However, I do feel like sometimes the wheel slightly pulls when I get to close to the other lane, which I don’t like but everything else is amazing! I got this car in bright red and it surprisingly looks really nice, this car has everything you could possibly need!

As far as reliability, the car is excellent. HOWEVER all the paint will start falling off within months of your purchase!! These cars have a paint defect and it happens to all of them, especially 2017. The warranty does not cover the paint either. Don’t buy if you don’t want your 15k car to look like crap in a year!!!

We purchased our 2017 Elantra brand new in June of 2016. Price was acceptable, and stated gas mileage would work well for the 100 mile round trip daily commute. No real problems other than a faulty coil (not covered in the 100000 mile powertrain mileage). Always taken to the dealer for service for the duration of the factory warranty. When I took over changing the oil after the 100000 mile mark, the oil consumption became quite clear. It's been steadily getting worse, now consuming a quart every 1100 miles (165000 miles on the car) Oil consumption is now fouling spark plugs. Both front door latch mechanisms stick all time, progressively worse the colder it is. Passenger side rear door latch fell apart at 110000 miles, and we left with no way to open that door. Speaking of cold weather, the heater is TERRIBLE. If you attempt to put the heat on the floor setting, the windshield fogs up. Setting the heat on split foot/defrost, the windshield stays clear, but you'll eventually lose toes to frostbite. Choice is yours. Car hates anything other than the OEM spec tires. Were on our fourth set of tires, and no other tires behave as well as the stockers. At least they're available at tire shops and not the stealership only. Car has now developed the annoying habit of stalling out during decel/low speeds. Suspect the torque converting is locking up randomly. This vehicle will very soon become a backup/vehicle of last resort. Car shopping to begin shortly; won't be visiting the Hyundai dealer either. Sorry, previous bad experience with a Kia Optima and now this Hyundai Elantra have soured us on this company in its entirety.

Really Good Value For The Price.

The last Hyundai I owned was a 2006 Santa Fe, the old style one with the bulging fenders, Hyundai quality has certainly gone up. I owned that Santa Fe for over 10 years and 129,000 miles, and I admittedly did not really take good care of it, put gas in it, changed the oil, usually well over the recommended 7,500 mile interval. My total out of pocket cost for repairs other than routine maintenance and tires was $257.00 and that was being a neglectful owner. I wanted a car this time not an SUV, and I have been doing a lot of traveling across state back and forth so I wanted something with good gas mileage but inexpensive and had good safety ratings. I have been reading reviews on the Elantra over the past 10 months or so since it was first introduced in 2016. Looked at the safety ratings on IIHS in the US and at Europe's safety testing. Test drove the Elantra , Corolla, Civic and Mazda 3. I really do not like the styling of the Toyota at all, The Civic was nice but no value for the amount of money they charge and didn't really care for the low roof line look. I liked the Mazda 3 but I was looking more for a comfortable driving car rather than a sporty car, and equipped the same the Mazda was still $1,000 more. The Elantra Value Edition, with the Hyundai incentives, pretty much put me in a well equipped, good looking, smooth riding car that gets pretty decent gas mileage and has good crash test results for the price of a used compact car. The car is pretty nice looking, the color Phantom Black, is actually like a black metallic with the windows tinted in the right shade (more black looking than gray, but not overly dark) it looks sweet. I'm averaging 37 mpg. and it's fast enough for me. I have not experienced any of this lag time I've read about on here from a couple of other people, I hit the gas the car goes. I can not say that for a Chevy Cruze I rented while out of town, the Turbo lag on that car was terrible.

Persistent engine issues - I've had to replace an engine coil every year I've had this car. Product Recall - Front door handle would lock and you'd have to reach across from the other site to get into your car Peeling and chipping white paint CUSTOMER SERVICE IS TERRIBLE - They offered an extended warranty for the peeling paint which I immediately reached out to my dealership (Young Hyundai, Ogden UT). The dealership turned me away and said my warranty was out of scope even though I was just notified about the change. Hyundai Corporate has been unresponsive and useless. I get automated replies and no follow up. Truly a terrible experience which has left a bad taste in my mouth. They have lost a customer for life.

I recently rented this car on a drive from Seattle to Reno when the airline stranded me. I generally have loved Hyundai's and my daily driver is a 2013 Hyundai Accent that I love. I was disappointed in this car for two major reasons. #1 the road noise was unbearable and I couldn't even hear the radio over the amount of road noise. #2 was the night time visibility, the dash is not dim-able and was way too bright making it very difficult to see at night. Gas mileage and every other aspect of the cars was great, but these two were a deal breaker for me and I took it back to the rental agency and exchanged it for another vehicle the next day.

Just drove the car out of the dealer 7 miles down the road the car over heated. The car is brand new 0 miles before I drove it out the dealer I check all fluids and light condition everything check ok. Car is too noisy, you can hear everything inside. 2006 had better noise cancellation than this car. The sit is not really comfortable to a big person. Other than that features are pretty nice for the price the car is worth.

On cue, warranty over, multimedia console kept draining the battery. Pros couldn't figure it out. I did by monitoring every fuse to figure out the drain. Warranty as a used car expired. 2017 SE. Now I'm stuck with half a car that I'll never be able to sell. Do NOT buy this car unless you have $ to throw off the roof and are an automotive masochist. POS

1. The raised center console gets in the way when shifting, and when just driving. 2. I don't want keyless doors and trunk, and there is no option for "manual". 3. The electronic odometer/etc. is too cluttered and mult-purpose. give me one spot for each function and minimize "cute" inscrutable" symbols. 4. Tire pressure sensors are great, but tell me the actual pressures when I "ask" to see them. 5. Ditto with engine coolant temp. give me the number in Farenheit. (You could add an oil temp output too.)

Major overlooked flaws from most reviews!

JP, 04/10/2017
2017 Hyundai Elantra SE 4dr Sedan (2.0L 4cyl 6M)
1 of 8 people found this review helpful

Test drove the car and notice 3 major flaws that are absolute dealbreakers. First, you'll notice that the atkinson cycle engine causes a very slight lag between your gas peddle input and the engine actually engaging. This is compounded because due to this lag, the transmission is not married well to the engine, as I got a few false upshifts and then immediate downshifts. The second flaw concerns the interior build quality and layout compared to the Toyota Corolla. I'm 6'1'' tall and noticed when i lean my right leg against the center console, it bows outward considerably compared to the corolla. It feels like the middle console and dash are not secured together well at all. I drove the corolla and pushed my leg hard against the console and it didn't budge. The third comparison to the corolla is that despite having greater cubic foot interior, I could not sit in the back behind my driving position in the elantra, and could quite easily in the corolla, so that speaks to how well the space is utilized. An ok car, but not when the civic and corolla are both in the same price bracket.

I have got my car in July 2019 it has been in the shop about 12 times in about a year for the same ongoing issue of it idling hard and then it misfires and then shakes when driving and then automatically just shuts off with no warning when you’re going from a stop. This is just a warning I do not have very much money so if you’re expecting get a car that’s bang for your buck this isn’t it Honda only helps when they want to and then you’re left with it on your own

The engine is quiet and efficient averaging 35 mpg in all types of driving. Overall the car is very quiet in all situations with very little outside distractions. For the money the Elantra is the best buy going with all the features that others charge extra for.

60k miles in 2 years

I drove from CA to NC, totaled about 60k miles and loved this car. While driving 99% of highway (cruise at 65pmh) was able to get up to 49mpg. I thought it was a mistake but was able to confirm it while driving cross country. Bought it used with 30k miles and sold it at 93k miles, I did oil changes every 3 months or 5000 miles and never had a single problem, I'm a mechanic so I service it myself, every service I checked for leaks couldn't find any, beside oil changes I replaced spark plugs at 60k miles and tires at 75k miles, brakes could easily reach 110k miles. This isn't a race car so engine isn't meant to be crazy powerful. Mine was the base model, I installed a Bluetooth and a 8 inch tablet with a basic mount( from amazon) so I could have maps and music looking fancy. Only reason I sold it is because I want a sports car and can't afford 2 car payments. I would highly recommend buy it used with 2 years or under 30k miles and go for the 6 speed automatic, no dual clutch. I will miss this car so much.
