This is my 2nd Elantra. I had a 97 wagon and that was a decent car, though it was definitely trailing the Civic/Corolla then. I still have it but the '03 is leaps and bounds better; and this time, it's definitely Civic/Corolla material! I had a Focus ZX3 before this car and the Elantra is actually the better of the two! You cheated yourself if you didn't test drive this first!

I can't say more good things about it. Most important the minor problems I did have have been resolved by the support of the Service Department. I did not get this from several Dodge Dealerships with my Lemon Durango. Their concern has been outstanding. So far I can say I'm truly happy with my Hyundai and have sent others to them and they are happy with their purchase too.

Elantra Fair For Price

The Elantra offers a powerful alternative to loud, lackluster four- cylinder performance. A few complaints: trunk very light but latch hard--takes twice to close trunk unless you slam it hard. If you don't alarm goes off. Seat belt springs weak, belts don't fully retract, and belt end flops onto door sill and can get caught in door. Seat belt buckles too close to interior, hard to latch. Steering wheel at bad angle if you are 6 feet tall or taller. Pedals close together. Otherwise, fine.

Wow! That is all I can think of when driving the new Hyundai. A comfortable ride for long distance driving that is easy on the gas but carries the power to accelerate to pass as well as handle any Interstate speed while being fuel efficient even with California smog equipment. The adjustable driver seat allows you to be comfortable any time. Outside, the car is just the right size for parking in tough places.Inside, the 2003 model is roomier than our older 2000 trade-in. Trading in the old Hyundai for a new one was not so easy. There wasn't anything wrong with it except we had put a lot of miles on it. In fact, we liked Hyundai so much we bought two of them this time!

It goes, it stops and it gets you there in a nice looking package. It does all the things a car should do. if you are looking at all cars, then, it isn't the fastest and it doesn't get the best gas mileage and it isn't the prettiest. BUT,if you are looking for the best stuff, for the price, it is by far the fastest, best gas mileage and prettiest car around. This little Hyundai does it all well.

The 2003 Hyundai Elantra GLS is a great buy. I upgraded from the 2000 Hyundai Accent GL to this car. For $14,500 I have auto, a/c, cd player, power everything, keyless entry, cruise control, and a moonroof. It would of cost me a lot more if I would of gotten a Toyota or Honda. I love driving it with the speakers blaring and my moonroof down - it's an amazing driving experience. The 10 year warranty is a great piece of mind. This is the kind of car I want to keep for a long time. Just to tell you how much my family loves Hyundai - we all have one! My mother drives a 2003 Santa Fe and my stepfather drives a 2003 Sonata!!

Bought new in '03 and now has 117,000 on it and still runs and drives great. Have had zero problems other than the typical eating of tires and the head and tail light headaches. Has been the most reliable car I have ever owned. Also, hit a deer at 55 mph and the front end held up incredibly well, just replaced the grill and hood after about a month and looks and runs great still.

I wanted a reliable car that was fun to drive at a decent price. The Elantra GT semmed to be the best choice. The features for the price is incredible, as is the warranty. The engine in this car kinks butt, great acceleration and it's happy cruising at 90mph. Compared to anything else out there, this is hands down the best choice.

Thus far, it does practically everything better than any similar car I have owned. It is loaded with amenities, has a huge backseat, is peppy, handles very well, and has been dead-reliable. It is an ideal commute car...very nimble, meneuverable, and squeezes into places other cars can't. Yet, it cruises the interstate with ease and is very steady and predictable. Drawbacks? Very few but here are a couple: It eats high and low beam lights. The CD player is inop and AM reception is poor. Wow, that's about it. A great little car and a great value.

In less than 100 miles driven, I am very pleased with the car, which came loaded with options as standard. My one concern was sheet metal that seems very thin. A hood that has to be propped up with a rod. Brakes seem mushy and uncertain, would like a more solid feel. Does not seem powerful at all, but it suits me fine for $12,800 including sales tax. List was over $15,000 inc. tax. Very happy with it for the price.

I tested the Saturn Ion 2, and the Kia Spectra. When I drove the Elantra, I knew I had found the car, the deal, and the warranty for me. It accelerates well, feels good, looks good, and with only an extra 400$ I got all the power gadgets I wanted. I love the way it shifts, and it has plenty of places to put my stuff. A lot of the interior was similar to the Spectra, but it was way more comfortable. Steers like a dream, nice stereo, even if it is just a cassette, but I had to have a cassette for my xm radio.

Im coming into this 02 Elantra GLS from a 97 Accord LX. I don't know why people think that Honda is one of the best. Iv had NOTHING but problems with mine... Iv had absolutely NO trouble with the Elantra. But "eeww a Hyundai" I think to myself.. I still think Excel.( Had 3 of them..) HYUNDAI HAS CHANGED. The Elantra PROVES it. Its built very tightly, and very quite ride. Excellent attention to detail. Better than Civic, Sentra's in many ways. It's roomy. Styling is original. It's not hard to look at. But its not "cute." Overall I like this car a lot.. Root for the underdog!... Go Hyundai.. =)

I also have a 2000 Elantra. The improvements the company made to the vehicle are too many to list here. I test drove almost every other competing car. There isn't another car I would have wanted but this on. Every thing from the price to performance make this vehicle a perfect 10. For every Honda lover, I ask, can you get leather in a Civic from the factory?

While my Elantra is fun to drive and I enjoy the car, I have had a horrific experience with the company. In fact, my car is a lemon, and even after receiving an agreement that if the car is not fixed after a final attempt, I have been given the runaround. The problem reoccured nearly a month ago, and I have received no response from the company. I will eventually be going to court. If you ever have a problem with the car that reoccurs, be sure to handle it very swiftly and good luck dealing with the jerks at the company hq.

Humming Noise at Highway Speed

We experienced a humming noise that occurred at about 60mph. Sounded like someone blowing into the top of a empty pop-bottle. Took it to the Dealer yesterday and they had just got a memo to replace the front door seals! Good timing :) The problem was fixed and the mechanic was extremely personable. We love our Elantra GLS. It does well on the highway with pickup & go. A problem that my wife was worried about with a smaller engine. Not a problem with passing or getting up to speed quickly.

Looking for a fun commuter I was all set to buy a Civic until I found that it didn't offer leather or traction control or a $14K price tag. Fuel pump went 1st mo which was replaced by dealer same day. Oil change every 3K, replaced brakes once at 60K and now have 120K on orig clutch. 30-32mpg combined city/hwy. Upgrades include Tiburon rear anti sway bar and 17" wheels which make it very fun in the twisties. Don't try this at home but is very stable at 105mph. Recently have also replaced headlights every 6mo and found my first rust spot behind rear wheel. Excellent in the snow with winter tires. I, too, barely get NYC AM stations from 60 mi away. Very happy with this ride.

So far we've put 1300 miles on this car in two months not one problem so far. It feels very solid. The car has decent acceleration and good power on the highway. Only problems is it needs more lumbar support and better gas mileage right now we're only getting 22 mpg average. But the main reason we bought this car was the overwhelming number of items available at the price, we got leather seats, a trip computer, cd player (6 speakers), alloy wheels, fog lights, rear spoiler and the best warranty all standard! Name one other car that gives you this kind of bargain!

Purchased vehicle on the assumption that it would be disposable in the end since it would be used for commuting. After 14 months and 33000 miles it still runs very well. No mechanical problems. The car has plenty of power for its size. Have no problem pulling mountains. Seems responsive and 'tight'. Overall quality is far better than I expected. It is way ahead of the Nissan Sentra I previously owned.

Hello, I just purchased a new Hyundai GLS 4 dr w/ automatic transmission today for my daughter. It is a quiet car for the money. As a first car, it is perfect for the college kid. It has A/C Power windows, doorlocks, tilt wheel, cruise control AM/FM/CD and Sunroof. It is really loaded for such a small car. Time will tell as to how reliable it is. We expect good gas mileage and cheap operation.
