Great Car!
I'm really enjoying my new Hyundai!
Practical
I have had my car for about 4 months. This is a very practical car. Considering that a car depreciates about $3000 per year, you can throw this car away after 5 years and still have done well. Like the old Chevette, but much more appointed. If your looking for more than basic transportation for a great price, this is it.
hyundai
overall the elantra is a very fine automobile for either highspeed driving on the interstate system or work time freeway driving to and from work.
Torture your BMW-owning friends
I've put 2,000 miles on this spirited five speed and couldn't be happier! The gearbox is smooth, the engine peppy, and the handling surprisingly agile. I'm 6'2" and fit comfortably in the leather seats. The stereo is very good and the instruments are laid out perfectly. My BMW 3-series owning friend hates it when our friends tell him how similar our cars appear to be!
The best car ever
This was my first new car, it has an astonishing 32 mpg fuel economy, I do my own tune ups, this car is very easy to access under the hood, also in the dashboard, I change the factory stereo and it was very easy, took me only 1 hour to do it. Very fun to drive, and the best of all is an affordable but elegant sedan. I am very happy with it has more than 40k miles and runs like the first day.
Worth the wait
My wife and I have wanted an Elantra for four years, we finally bought a new 2003. It has a silky smooth 5 speed manual with 16 valve DOHC 2.0 engine, excellent comfort and ride. It replaces 1994 Hyundai Excel with 191,000 miles as the main car. I will be buying a replacement engine for the 1994. We love those Hyundai's, reliable, dependable and inexpensive to keep.
What a steal.
For those who have been looking for a car under $15,000, look no further. The Elantra GT as well as the base Elantra have no current competition in the value to price game. After 32,000 miles I have had zero problems with a car that is fun to drive and loaded with everything from sun roof to leather seats - all for under $13,000. My daughter just bought a base 2003 GLS yesterday - with an owners loyality discount of $2,000 plus rebates - - out the door at a price of $8,800....
Best car in its class!!!
So far I have this car for 1 year and it has 35k miles. I haven't had one problem yet. i love this car!! When i see a civic or Corolla I just smile and push the gas pedal! You can't get a better deal at this price. It's a great car all around!
A foreign car that does not stink!!
I bought this car because it was the nicest cheapest thing I could afford. So far it has been both nice and cheap. The paint scratches and chips easily and a new ashtray costs $90! Runs well...very reliable...no problems. I pile miles on my car... on beat on it vicously delivering pizzas! 60000 miles in 2 years. Great commuter car. affordable. No major mechanical problems...if regularly maintained. Great Car Great Price! Buy One! While you are at it buy me a new one!
great ride
i average about 30,000 miles a year and i have not had any problems with this car other then a thermostat at 75000 miles and oxygen sensor at 70000 miles, i live in the north east where we average five to six feet of snow a year and i never have had a problem in the snow till start driving in about a foot of it, and that's with two rear tires that wont pass inspection now
great car!
This is an excellent car for all around driving... does well on the highway and great in urban traffic situations. I originally was leaning towards getting a Civic but now love the Hyundai and urge all my friends to get one too. And getting an average of 29 miles per gallon is nice too, considering the price of gas lately.
Fun and Low Maintenance
Looking for a fun commuter I was all set to buy a Civic until I found that it didn't offer leather or traction control or a $14K price tag. Fuel pump went 1st mo which was replaced by dealer same day. Oil change every 3K, replaced brakes once at 60K and now have 120K on orig clutch. 30-32mpg combined city/hwy. Upgrades include Tiburon rear anti sway bar and 17" wheels which make it very fun in the twisties. Don't try this at home but is very stable at 105mph. Recently have also replaced headlights every 6mo and found my first rust spot behind rear wheel. Excellent in the snow with winter tires. I, too, barely get NYC AM stations from 60 mi away. Very happy with this ride.
still on the fence
THe car is a good car, But I have had some problems with it. At 3000 miles the transmission needed to be replaced. the taillight all needed to be replaced, they turned white. I think the head lights are about to as well. the dome lights don't work. I don't listen to the stereo very loud but the speakers blew. the driver chair rocks back and forth
Cheap but well made
Hte car is a reall steal for the money and the amenities you get with it.
my hyundai
purchased this car to drive back and forth to NJ wanted something cheap, economical and reliable and this was and has been all three. I love my Hyundai!!
Probably would buy another one.
Paid $13,700 for this car: power everything, moonroof and ABS. I'm 6'3" and find it fairly comfortable to sit in--very good visibility. No trouble to date, at 18,000 miles. Very quiet car. This car blows the Ford Focus away (I got rid of my focus at 36,000 miles because of build quality and it was very uncomfortable). Bottom line: If I had to spend less than $14,000 on another car, I would buy another Elantra. (but see the suggested improvements)
Can't get more for the money
It's a new purchase, and after only a few days, I couldn't be more pleased! Everything is above my expectations.
BEST CAR I'VE EVR OWNED!!!!
I can honestly say that this is the best car I've ever owned. My 2001 Elantra has 35k miles on it and I haven't had one problem with it yet. This car runs like a dream. Everytime I get in it I just smile, knowing that I got the most bang for my buck. It's true, when you choose Hyundai you win!
Reliable
I am in real estate and needed safety and style. The leather seats, traction control, side impact are bags, under seat air ducts and anti lock breaks weren't afordable elsewhere.
Excellent value, very reliable
This has been an excellent car, the price and warranty are what got us looking at it initially. We've never owned an import before, but now I'd definitely buy another Hyundai. We get 32-34 mpg in town, 40+ hwy. Gasoline with very high ethanol content does reduce MPG somewhat, but it will do that on any car. The only expense other than regular maintenance items was a battery. Plenty of interior room, upholstery still looks like new. PW, PDL, A/C, power mirrors all standard. Dealership was very determined to keep customers satisfied. We are very pleased with our Hyundai.
2003 GT Sedan (5-speed)
Positives: very peppy engine; smooth 5- speed; most passenger leg room for its class; attractive styling; fun to drive. Negatives: Flat spot at 4000rpm; noticeable body lean in tight turns; poor paint job; trunk lid rises to exact position for head-whacking of the unaware; fold-down rear seats provide only a small, semi-circular access between trunk and passenger area.
Nice Bang for the Buck
This is a very attractive car that looks like those costing way out of it's price catagory. It is a very comfortable car, nice to drive on trips or just around town. Very roomy, for both front and rear seat passengers and great trunk space. A very nice small family car. Super warranty - good piece of mind and a car your are proud to pull up in. It just looks good and you will like the way you look and feel inside.
save so much money
This is overall a good car, and better than others because costs so much less. Bought mine 11k with cd player for $8000, no defects at all. It is very reliable and better than many including the regular focus, sentra, aerio, cavalier, and neon. I would suggest it to anyone who wants an economy car that is decent in all respects and absolutelty no problems. Reliability and savings are the best 2 aspects of this car
Love it!
I am delighted with the amount of car I got for the money. I shopped very carefully for 3 weeks and I know I would have had to pay at least $2,000 more for an equivalent car. I love the solid ride. Everything is high quality and well designed. This car was for my wife. I am going to buy another one for myself..........
excellent in-expensive car
the car handles great and is surprisingly quik to excellerate when you hit the gas. Has a smooth ride, better than that of the mazda protege and dodge neon. For thousands less than those two cars it also has more head and leg room than most cars in its class. I couldnt have asked for a better car.
Satisfied but not ecstatic
I had to have the starter replaced. This was covered under the 5 yr 60k warranty. The roadside assistance program works.
Second Hyundai
This car is great! This is my second Hyundai. My first was a '99 Elantra. Where that one was boring, this one is exciting. I got the pewter -- great color and it looks good all the time!
Not pretty but very fuel efficient!
I have had this car for a little over 2 years now. It has 98000 miles on it and have never had a single problem with the car. The gas mileage is excellent! I always average 31 mpg! I would recommend this car for anyone who doesn't want to spend a bunch of money with upkeep and gas!
First new car!
The car was purchased new off the lot, we needed to replace a 1988 car. We have driven the car everywhere, the only down side is we put a lot of miles on it. It has become our primary car, and has made several successful long trips with out even a slight rattle. The standard stereo is pretty good and the adjustable belts are comfortable. The economy is really good on the highway, city driving does reduce the performance. I great all around car and good entry level car for the price!
New Elantra 2003
My 2003 elantra Having 60 series 15 Mich tires front and rear Stabilizers bars and 2.0 Liter engine Makes for quick and easy Back road driving. Yet with the 4 speed automatic trans turning the motor about 2200 rpms at about 65 mph has got to be more than 33 mpg highway mileage and having a ten year 100,000 mile warranty and 9990 price tag what else can you ask for.
GT a fun car!!
great car; reliable, fun, good power.
Well worth it
This car was a second car for our family (two kids 1&3) Wife has a MPV Van (hate it) and I replaced my 300ZX Conv. as my main car. Everyone fits well in this car--for a small car lots of room, car seats--toys and the trunk holds must haves on a weekend trip. I drive the car 40 miles a day to work and have had no problems. I enjoy this car...and don't get killed when I make a payment.
Hyundai GLS Not bad..
Car is not bad.. dohc gives it a bit of pickup too. Even for an auto.
What a great ride
I love my car!!! It drives great and I have never had a problem with it. The people at the dealership call to remind me when I am due for tune ups, oil changes, and regular checks. For the price this car is fabulous. It was definately a steal.
Elantra
What I like about the Elantra is that its a good car for a great price. Its affordable to pretty much anyone, even fully loaded. The Elantra has so many standard features, such as power windows, mirrors and locks. I have enjoyed my car, it has 40,000 miles and is running just like the day I bought it.
Hyundia Elantra
Interior is very comfortable. All gauges are readable and the seats are the most comfortable I've used for long drives. During a trip from Virginia to Texas the vehicle produced around 36 mpg and with two children the back seats were roomy.
Poor tires and Poor tire warranty
The Michelin tires are very poor that came with this vehicle. Any nail or flat will require an automatic replacement of the tire. The warranty on the tires is meaningless. Generally the vehicle is good although I did have to replace the odometer and the stereo. The headlight replacement on the drivers side is very cumbersome even for the dealer. The dealer never seems able to align the lights correctly. I have had no trouble with major electrical, powertrain or engine. I have also had to replace a number of headlights a little too quickly, from my view.
Car Has Poor Review
My transmission fell out of the vehicle 10,000 miles after i bought it. I have had nothing but problems with it. DO NOT BUY ONE...THEY SUCK.
The Sponsored Elantra
This car is great, it gets awesome mileage but since I put in a sound system, the mileage is much lower.
good car bad service
been to shop twice and problem still exists
Ultra-Reliable, Great Purchase
Bought this car in 2007, so it was 4 years old with about 70K kilometers on it. So far, there has been NO major work needed. This car starts immediately in -40 degree Celsius weather, a better track record than our 2005 Volks Jetta which needs to be boosted at least twice each winter. This car is pushed really hard with many road trips carrying full loads. Fuel economy is better than our other car, so we take this one on long road trips. There is no a/c, no power anything, but that means that any repair costs are much lower. We're having issues with the wiper motors right now, but we live spitting distance from freight trains, so there may be tons of dirt. Overall, I LOVE this car.
From palm trees to mountains
Awesome car for the money....many ammenities incl in the price! Puts Honda and Toyota to shame for comparable car.
BEST ECONOMY CAR - HANDS DOWN!!
Hyundai is a very reliable brand, and the Elantra is a dream to drive, especially for those who cannot afford to purchase outside the compact class. Rides smooth as silk, and carries a 5- star safety rating. There's nothing you won't like about this car, and the purchasing deals and finance rates right now are out of this world!
I love my car !!! except no CD
Its brand new so what could be wrong with it !!! yet... I picked from quite a few cars out there and really liked the whole car. A big bonus is the 10 year warranty. Problems with the dealership ..you betlots of concerns with them. That's the one thing I would do different would be to pick another dealer.
I like my Elantra
My 2003 Elantra, replaced a 2001 Elantra, which was totalled in an accident. I like the Elantra. It's reliable. The local dealer, Automax, has an excellent service department. I'm happy with my Elantra.
great car for the price
I recently bought this vehicle, and have so far had a good experience. Great fuel economy and comfort, but picks up a lot of road noise. If you are looking for a good first new car, and don't want to spend a bunch of money this car is for you. Plus it has an unbeatable warranty.
My two cents
I believe that it's a great car for the money. It's roomy and somewhat comfortable. The stereo system is not bad, either.
$11,465 Out the Door!!!
I got a steal on this car. $11,465 including all taxes, title, doc. fee, etc. This is with an auto trans too! Car feels great. I just got it but I love driving it. Will post again when I put some more miles on it
Accent to Elantra
Upgraded from Accent, also a good car. Drive and features are great, but car had flawed brake rotors, had to be re- turned, inexcusable on brand new car. Mileage should be better, but comfort and warranty can't be beat by ANYONE. My insurance was lowered from Accent to Elantra due to improved security and safety features. GET ONE!
Not what I expected.
I have not even had my car a year and it is in the shop at least once every 2 months. I am very disappointed that I made my first big investment on my elantra!
