Decent Wheels

Really wanted the Elantra GLS, but this was a decent trade-off. It is an enjoyable drive, though I haven't taken an extended trip in it yet. I'm hoping to get one or two in soon to see if I can get some decent mileage. That is my biggest complaint to date - barely getting over 20 mpg. Second least favorite fact - lack of lighting on the ignition switch makes it hard to find at night. Third least favorite fact - the in-curving lines on the hood do not provide a good visual clue to how straight I am parking the car. It would be nice if the foglights could be used as daytime running lights.

fun car, great milage

2005 GT Hatch. I do a lot of highway business driving and have seen 38.5 mpg crusing @ 75mph. Fairly quiet relaxed cruising for a econobox in this price range but a little "buzzy" in the lower gears (automatic).

Point-a to Point-b @ ~32-34 MPG

Unreal milage. I've put 5,000 miles on this puppy in a few months and I average 32MPG. That is what I need when gas is expected to hit 2.50/Gal this summer. I am happy with the warranty and the low entry price.

Hard to learn this car.

This is my first "foreign" car and it is VERY complicated to learn. Too many things to turn and push-pull on levers on steering column. My warning lights were on, and I had no idea where to turn them off or how they got on. When driving it is hard to pull over and read the manual - too much to memorize. Switches and knobs have no names on them for what they are for. Like warning light - not even a clue! Too small of gas tank. Too many adjustable levers and knobs with no name for what it is. My manual is well-worn already. Hard to lock or unlock seat belts when arm rest is down.

Bought it for a metro car to leave our full size truck parked. Work in sales and needed an easy to use (and park) car and good gas mileage. My last tank combined mpg was 39!

this car was a great purchase for me...it's very reliable, fun to drive and can't beat the price. And for a few extra bucks...you get the 10yr/100k mile. I will have nothing to do with this car except drive it...and keep the oil changed.

The Perfect Economy Car

I bought the car because I needed a small, economical vehicle that I could depend on, and that wouldn't let me down. The Accent is just that. With the price, the mileage, and the warranty, I am sure that the car is more than enough to suit my needs. Additionally, the car is extremely comfortable, tricking the buyer into thinking it would be small from the outside. In fact, the interior is large enough that you could fit four adults COMFORTABLY. It is definitely a great buy!

This is totally a fun car to drive. Very reliable, extremely good on gas. Hyundai has really improved over the last 10 years. Also the price was excellent, with the features it provides.

My little Hyundai

Since I'm so tall, I've found that this model doesn't have a lot of leg room. The steering wheel doesn't tilt, so I have to constantly scrunch down to see my odometer. Other than that....this is a great little car! It gets me where I want to go, and I don't really need to keep an eye on the gas prices b/c I don't fill up very often (even though I drive everywhere).

A fun cheap little car

I bought my 2005 Accent as a new left over in 06. I bought it a month after I bought an 06 Tiburon as a second car. This has been the best second car you could ask for. It's cheap, reliable, great on gas, has plenty of room for a little hatchback, and is fun to drive with the 5 speed manual. It's a very plain car with no CD player, and no air conditioning which is okay for what I use it for. Most people would probably get a little higher version with these features. It is built very well, and rides smoothly for it's low price of $11,000. And of course, it has Hyundai's wonderful 10 year 100,000 mile warranty on the engine and transmission

Waited to submit the review until I could actually review it properly. After one year of owning the car and driving back and forth to work all I can say is.. I'm impressed. 5 speed allows me to grab some decent speed from a pretty small engine and the fit and finish of the vehicle still impresses me. I even took it camping last summer and managed to get all the equiment, three people and a dog in.... Wow... Love the hatchback.

Good starter car

The Accent is definitely economical but it offers a rough ride. The engine is loud especially when accelerating quickly. The ride is stiff (not floaty) you know you are in a small car when you drive it. It will get up and go if you push it but dont plan on any long drives with a car full of people in comfort. Overall I would rate it at about a 6 or 7. It would make a great first car because of the Parking capabilities, fuel economy, low price and warranty. Seasoned drivers are bound to be disapointed. Just try to remember this car is not intended to handle like a Camero or even a Corolla. It is a compact car and performs like a compact should.

My First Import

Nathaniel Haslage, 06/25/2006

My 2005 Accent is the first import I have ever bought, and because of its price and quality it will not be the last Hyundai I buy. I love the excellent gas mileage (I'm getting 40mpg), the agility, and the build quality. My last car was a brand new Cavalier that fell apart in about a year. My Accent takes anything I throw at it with a smile. The only downside that I have noticed is the tires. They are weak, and any tiny little piece of debris from feathers to cigarette butts may cause a puncture. Other than that an Accent is a smart choice for budget- conscious commuter.

i have owned this car for 18 months and it is exceptional.. consistently gets 34-35 mpg with a/c running all the time... hard on bumps and slow take-off but thats the trade off for great milage..have not had one thing wrong that required me take the car back to the dealer...

I love how my Accent feels

One thing I really not noticed is that it takes very well to corners and when I need to accelerate quickley I can count on it to give me that edge. I have relied on the breaks several times to help me avoid sudden stopping around me and this was comforting to know how dependable the brakes were. I call her "squirt" because she is small compared to our SUV but has amazing punch and is just overall fun to drive. I don't recommend you make interior any smaller as it can feel cramped with my 6' foot tall quarterback son in the car! He feels it to be snug when he drives.

For how cheap this car is, it is the best ever, i get ok gas mileage about 26-27, but i drive fast. i get 28-30 when i drive sane, and freeway for trips i get 35, once in the mountains driving around 45mph i got around 42. this car can go fast i drove it thru the desert going to tuscon with no one around on the freeway and i was going 110 and it still got good mileage like 33. i love driving this car. this car is off the ground more than most sedans today so i can drive over normal things without worrying

Hyundai Accent = Lemon

This was my 1st new car I bought in hopes it was a reliable car and wouldn't break down cuz its new. Since buying it, I have put in $5000 in just repairs. The dealer refuses to listen to me, cause I'm a girl & car was in a cosmetic accident a yr after buying it. Exterior of car was damaged only, but a year later it just refused to start and continues to have the same problem. Plus the radiator, water reservoir, thermostat all went out and now it won't stop overheating and it gives no notice that it is overheating, it just shuts off. In the last 2 weeks I have spent $2000 on it & been to mechanic 4 x. Never buy a hyundai again, not a quality car.

I lost all respect for Hyundai with the purchase of the Accent. Its cramped, choppy ride, and even refuses to start on too many occasions. The service at Hyudndai is almost as bad, they dont believe it does these things so won't attempt to fix them. I would buy a used car over a new Accent

Stinks

I have had this vehicle for 4 years now and the gas milage on it stinks. It burns oil now 1/2 the time during the 3,000 oil change mark. I wish I had researched it a little more before I bought the car. I know I drive a lot but I shouldn't have to change the tires every 3-4 months either. If I were you... do not get this car! It is a waste of money!
