Excellent City and Family Car!
I purchased my 2003 Accent with 4 miles on it for $11,500. Perfect city car - fits into small spots and not very likely to be vandalized. Then I lived in an area with steep hills and never got stuck, even with ice and snow. The car complained about making it up the hills but always did. Definiltey not a lot of power but does the trick. Fast forward 7 years and my husband and I now use the car with our twins rear-facing. We can fit the double stroller in the truck with room to spare and a single stroller in back. There's enough leg room. I have to laugh at people who think they need an SUV....the Accent is perfectly adequate! No major repairs and I'm at almost 140K miles!!
Good and Cheap
I bought my Hyundai Accent because of the Great price and fuel mileage and I have been so happy with it.My only complaint is a little more room. The car comes loaded,I couldn't beleave the extras that came with it for the price.Plus the car not only gets great fuelmileage but my boyfriend says its fun to drive and I agree.

Nice Automobile
I bought the car in September of 2003, got a really great deal. Had one minor problem with the car, the right rear brake had a click in it, and it was fixed right the first time. If you really want more power out of the engine put in a K & N air filter, it makes a big difference in the performance.
"econobox"
Had the car since 10/03. It has 75k on it now and while its not a fantastic car, it performs ok. Just ok. When it was new, it was very peppy. Now its sluggish and, while it will jump when needed, its not something I try to do often. Handles on a dime to be sure but braking feels mushy even on new brakes. I'm on my 3rd tranny. What started as a ticking became gears getting stuck and grinding. 2 door handles broke. Engine loudly taps when cold but goes away. Tape deck broke. Battery brackets snapped. Rigged a way to hold it. Trunk space is ok if the item is wide but not deep or tall. At 6'1 its a cozy ride. Knee is either on cupholder or autostick. Bumps od switch... Yet to leave me stranded
Cheap, Great Cars!
It's so hard to find a foriegn car for a reasonable price. The Hyundai Accent is a reliable car for a great price. It definatley beats American made cars and are absolutely wonderful. I love mine!!
Good Car
For anyone who maybe skeptical about buying a Hyundai Accent, don't be. I have had this car a year now, very good car, excelent gas mileage and I absolutely love it. Plus to top it all off, I didn't spend 25,000 for a brand new car.
GREAT VALUE
Great option for someone looking to get from point A to B with good reliability and mileage! Let's be honest, I have to rank this car average or below in interior/exterior design, fun to drive, performance. BUT, that is not why I bought it! Reliable, good mileage, not stunning features/performance/design, but it gets job done and very well for the price paid.
Darla is a champ!
I've had this car for the last 5 years and hand loved every day. I nicknamed her "Darla" after taking it out to Colorado for the second time. It did great on all of those mountain roads and even handled well in the snow. I really think that driving it is very comfortable and it was well worth the money. Mine came "loaded" with A/C, a CD player, and power windows, doors, and locks. I'm only looking to sell it now because my wife doesn't want to learn how to drive stick!
Great car
Las Vegas is full of these things. You'd never guess the price by driving it. Interior is comfy, very nice. Ride is good, handling is safe and predictable. Acceleration is peppy, but weak low end with AC on. Styling takes some getting used to, but I like it. Motor noise is always present but very pleasant; throaty like a sports car. Totally reliable. It was a great decision!
Hyundai Accent
It is a great little car to get around.

I LOVED my little red accent...
I bought this car new off the lot as my first car for about 10k...super cheap for a car that lasted me about 7 years. I never once had a problem with it until someone side-swiped it last weekend and totaled it. I was so sad to see it go. I had over 110,000 miles on it,and i only had to replace the brakes once, and change my headlights once. Otherwise it was all sched. maintenance. BEST warranty ever too. A good first car for anyone, or even a commuter. Just maintain your oil changes and services, and this car will last you forever!.
WHY SPEND .20 TO .30 DEPRECIATION PER MI
I PITTED SEVERAL LOCAL DEALERSHIPS INTO AN EIGHT THOUSAND DOLLAR NEW CAR LOADED WITH OPTIONS! IF I KEEP THIS CAR THROUGH THE 100,000 MI WARRANTY IF SPENT JUST .08 PER MI IN DEPRECIATION....NOT TO MENTION THE ADJUSTMENT AFTER RESALE.....THESE NUMBERS STACK UP TO MAJOR SAVINGS OVER THE COMPETITION!!!!!
Black Accent
Pleasant surprise. Engine is very smooth and car has virtually no rattles. Build quality is much better than expected.
Great reliable car, yes reliable
We bought this car as a cheap commuter car and figured we would maybe get 100k from it. Well at 120k now and still going strong. Only issue was lost a crankshaft sensor around 90k and one battery but that was it. Regular fluid changes and the car is happy. Still get around 34 MPG.
Approach with caution
I bought this car used with 117K miles on it for $2600 with the hopes of it getting me through 4 years of college. Here I am, about to be a Junior, and I'm back in the used car market. I loved this car when I first bought it. I have the very basic model, manual locks and windows and manual transmission. It was so small and fun to drive and got GREAT gas mileage. However, the repairs were frequent and annoying, from wheel bearings to clutch replacement, leaving me without a car for days (and sometimes weeks) at a time. I've probably put over $2000 into it in 2 1/2 years. Now, at 140K miles, the transmission, rear struts, and timing belt are all giving out and it's just not worth the money anymore. It was a good car when it was doing good, but I would approach this purchase with caution.

The price is right
This my second Accent. I've also owned a '96 model which I got rid of in favor of a Mitsubishi Eclipse. The Eclipse was turned back in at lease end and instead of paying high loan payments, I decided to go for price and pick up another Accent. All in all, it's an OK car. It isn't going to WOW you in anything that it does. One day each week and one day each month you'll like the car a little more than others. The day of the week is the gas station stop. I've been getting a steady 34 mpg while kind of beating on the little thing. The day of the month is, of course, loan payment day. The rest of the time, eh, it's OK.
Good Basic Transportation
This car was purchased mainly for my wife, and she loves it. It is almost 4 years old now and it has NEVER broken down. All I have done was change the oil & filter every 3,000 miles. Sure, it could have more power, but what do you expect. In a vehicle this size MPG is more important than horsepower, and besides, my wife never seems to complain that it is slow, so I guess it is not that bad.
Very Reliable
I am a sales rep on the road doing 65K a year. I bought this car in the fall of 03, and started this job in the fall of 04. I have 280K on this car of which 260K's are from my when I started my new job. This car has been Amazing! I have not had one breakdown or false start. I do all the factory maintenance at the dealership where I bought it, all great people, great service. I still have the original brake pads on the rear wheels!! I bought the car W/O AC but when I got my job I had it installed, along with deep tint, and cruise control (need for the long drives!) I am going to put 400K on this car and then get another one!!! Well worth the money.
I highly recommend it
I recieved this car as a graduation present from my parents and I will be taking it to college in the fall. I had looked at a lot of options and am so glad my parents picked this one.
Well built, dirt cheap, gas sipper.
Needed a commmuter car for my wife. This car has almost everything. I don't mind rolling down the window myself but I should have gotten the ABS. I love the powerful air-conditioner. You don't wait for the car to cool down. I never before had a car that got BETTER than the EPA numbers but this one gets 32 on the highway. This car won't make you cool but you will feel smart.
unreliable
At 3000 miles had parts for clutch replaced;again 5000 miles- DiFeo just did a little adjusment to shift -it performed the way it was made to; ignored my complaint about back brake sound. Before 7500 service, shift has been grinding, brake squeeling. They ordered parts;my ONLY means of transportation and needed it to get to 2 jobs(bought new car so I would not be in repair shop!!). I was told they would provide a car. Took car in early Friday morning, was told person who was to give me car was not in: they would look at it(I had just spent 4 hours on a Sat..I would like to enact the lemon law if I can!!
18 and half years and still running!
I bought my 2003 Accent in May 2003... Still have it Last year a neighbor said to me, Boy you've sure gotten a lot of good use of that car! Yes i have! I had a Hyundai Excel before but it started havng a lot of problems at 60,000, so I traded it for this 2003 Hyundai accent hatchback. It is a hatchback but it looks like a regular car. It holds so much stuff too. I have had to do a lot of repairs, but it keeps plugging away and has over 177,000 miles on it.

Hyundai Accent
This is my first Hyundai car i have ever driven and i love it! It is the best car equal to the Tiburon!
The Little Car that pleases
I purchased the Hyundai in 03. It was nice looking, and I loved that it had great fuel economy. I shopped for price, value and a car to take me into retirement without the headaches of expensive repairs. It has been almost 2 years now and I finally acknowledged to myself that I had a great deal. I wish I could have waited for 04 but time doesn't wait. My best friend bought the Sonata and we are both pleased. So much so that we are driving almost 7000 miles this Spring.
Its the perfect car
I just bought a brand new 2003 Accent and I love it, it is a very comfortable ride and it looks more expensive than it is. I was very impressed at how quiet it is and how good the sound system is for being stock. For a small car, it has guts. It has more horses than most cars its size. The best thing about the model I have (4DR sedan GL)is that its so convenient, with power everything. Its no Mercedes but it has a very stylish apppearance, very futuristic and nice looking.
Good Car For your money
I have had no problems what so ever with this car...I purchased it brand new and it been great...alittle slow but it good for now.
cheap and fun
its a cheap little care with zero extras. but with the 5 speed it is a peppy, nimble little car. decent cargo space. but poorly made. it has been in the shop once twice since I got
Excellent car for the money!
This car is great for the price!! Been driving it for 2 years now, and it drives like a champ. I love the stereo system! But i wish it had cruise control. It also looks pretty good. My personal preference is White color with cream interior! Awesome!
Great Commuter Car
My wife and I purchased a 2003 Hyundai Accent base 2 dr. This car is a stripper. It was exactly what we wanted. 2 dr 5 speed. It has a radio and AC. Thats it. This car gets excellent fuel economy. We drive in rual Iowa. This car does well in the snow. We average over 20k miles a year because of our 50+ mile commute. The thing that this car lacks is power at low rpms. Rev it up and it has lots of pep. Hyundai makes use of all the available space and can seat 4 adults in reasonable comfort. The 5 speed makes this car a fun drive. This is my first foreign car and I am impressed with the build quality and the ease of maintaining it. My other car is a full size 89 Dodge RamCharger 4x4.
I came for price, I'll stay for quality.
I bought this car because of the low price. I had just bought a house and traded in my convertible. I was very impressed by the build quality for the low cost. Although obviously there are better built cars, I believe that my $12k car is not one third the quality of a $36k car. Oh, dont forget the best warranty that is available anywhere on planet Earth!!
Great Car
I love this car. It's dependable, it gets great gas mileage. For a little car it has some pick up and go, more so than I thought it would. My only complaint is the small tires. My next car will be a Hyundai
nice car
Never had a car so easy. Only had to wash and change oil.
A Good Metro Vehicle
The 2003 Accent is a great buy. It appears to get above 250 per fill up. It has a 1.6 liter engine, so it wont win you any races. The back seat is small and perfect for kids. The trunk is big and has drop down back seats to allow more room. The electric package option allows the driver control over all the windows and locks. Estimated maintenance cost (based on manufacturers schedule of 3750 miles or 3 months) to be about $20 per fill up. (My plan is to throw $20 into a savings account every fill up.) The tires are the smallest made, so that should cut down on replacement cost too.
Best economy car.......hands down!!
This is the BEST economy car on the market....hands down! I replaced my automatic 1998 Accent hatchback with a new, 2003 same model and the improvements made by Hyundai are numerous and welcomed. No more turning off the air-conditioner to pull out on the highway...this Accent has spunky pick-up! The automatic transmission has been improved with the car now shifting/staying in the correct gear. The ride is quiet (okay, the engine could be quieter but hey, it is an economy car remember), smooth and sturdy. Hyundai did a great job on redesigning this Accent from the exterior classy look to its comforable interior. Guess you can tell, I love my Accent!
So far............so good
Only 300 miles on it so far, but for a $12,000 car it seems like you definately get what you pay for. It's no BMW, but for a compact has a decent ride, pretty quiet, excellent CD stereo system, and all the basic power features (windows, door locks, mirrors, AC, etc.)
Great Car, Great Price, Great Warranty
I am 6'5" and demand space. The little car has it. I have no problems getting in or out of the vehicle. I got the GT model at the price I expected for a base model car. I have driven it every- day without any problems. I drive 60+ miles a day with a fuel economy of 29mpg at my last fill-up. However, this has increased with every fillup. I am very pleased with the little car. It has good pick up, tons of features, a low sticker price and an awesome warranty.
Great small car
I love my little car! It's great on gas, and very peppy in traffic. It is also easy to park and very manuverable. Smooth ride, but a little loud interior, particularly on the highway.
2 Time Accent Owner
I owned a 2001 Accent 2dr prior to this purchase. The 2dr ran well for the 2 yrs, never a problem other than a fuse and a minor recall. I needed a 4dr so I researched all the 4 door sedans under 15K and the Accent was once again the way to go. GREAT WITH GAS, the pickup is average(if I wanted a powerful engine I would have gone with another car), you are not going to corner well with the 13 inch tires. If possible I may move up to 14 inch tires for better handling. So far so good on the 2003, Excellent Value if you are looking for a car to get you from Point A to Point B
exellent for the money!
Car delivered for the money is incredible. Car and company very underated in motor world, but things are changing due to high quality. Alote more car for the money than Civic.
New Transmission at 22K
At 18K miles, it started to ride sluggishly so we had the transmission looked at. At 22K it needed a new tranmission - fortunately, it was still under warranty although we bought it used...with 12K on it.
2nd rate car?
This car is an excellent 1st car. It has a great warranty, and excellent safety features. However, this car isn't worthy if you plan on buying it, then trading it in after a few years.
my accent
After owning a Toyota I dont feel this car quite measures up but it certainly qualifies as adequate in this price range.
not great
this is definetly a you get what you pay for kind of car. I have found poor craftsmanship, and it costs more than its major competitors. i would recommend a toyota echo or suzuki forenza anyday to someone in the market for a cheap economy car that isnt that economical.
Surprised
Ex wife took my cadillac so I bought this small car. I did not think I would be happy but to my surprise I really like it. It has been trouble free unlike my cadillac, It has enough power and the comfort is surprising for a small car. Gas milage has been 36.5 overall which is better than the sticker. It has been a great value for the money.
I like my Hyundai!
I have really enjoyed my Hyundai so far. I am very impressed.
Accent
This is a great car, it gets me from point A to point B without any worries. It comfortable, affordable and looks great. I avg about 30miles/per galllon and had a honda accord before this...i would get the accent of the accord any day of the week.
Hyundai Accent
Sales People are very friendly. Price is excellent. The warranty is best available. I received a full tank of gas. The 1st oil change is free. I've never been happier about a new car.
Great Car
I bought my Accent in Feb of 2003, it snowed so much this car got me through it and handled the weather better than I though it would. The engine is a little loud but its ok the rest of the car makes up for it.
My 2001 Accent GL 4 door
This is an excellent car for a first car. It has great gas mileage, has never given me any problems, and I can take some friends along for the ride. =) Although, i wish it would be a bit stronger with the A/C on. Other than that, I've had no prblems or dislikes with it. An inexpensive, useful car with an outstanding warranty.
