True Blue
I bought my 2004 EXL Odyssey with 155,000 miles on it in 2014. It was a 1 owner that had been serviced at the Honda dealer. It now has 371,000 miles on it, and has been an awesome vehicle. Transmission rebuild at 296,000 miles. It has issues now, but still runs well, and gets 25 mpg. I am looking to buy another one.

Good Starter Car
Now, before I recently purchased the 2017 Honda CR-V, I drove the 2004 Odyssey for a short period of time. Overall, my mom had used it for years, she was impressed with it when she first purchased it. At the time, it was considered to be one of the hottest minivans on the market. Overall, when I drove it, I did not have any major problems with it. With that being said, later on, there were a few things that I'd have to be critical of. One thing is, one day I was going to drive it, it would not unlock using the key, I tried unlocking it manually, would not work, had to call the shop and check it out. Turns out it was a security issue and I ended up getting it resolved. The only other thing I had to be critical was was when whenever I drove on the freeway, the steering wheel would vibrate going above 70 (now that is probably because I haven't rotated the tires in a while). Other than that, I had no complaints of it, it was TERRIFIC in snow and ice! Since I live in Michigan, it could plow through almost anything. IF you are looking for something cheap, then I would definitely look into buying it used. Had no other problems except for the usual Takata Airbag recalls, but transmission gave power when it needed it, and got almost 29 miles on the freeway and 20 in the city. If you don't jerk the thing out, then you will get better MPGs

Odyssey - Positive and Negatives
The Odyssey was a wonderful touring van when I traveled over 8500 miles during the first summer I had it. The gas mileage was good on the trip and it performed perfectly. I've always felt very secure on the highway while passing trucks and in inclement weather. My only complaint is with one of the sliding doors. In Florida, it wouldn't open and on a trip to Kentucky, it failed to open. It's frightening especially if there was an accident. I definitely feel I got a lemon on the door. This is the only problem I've had with the van and when it happens, it is very annoying.

Time to sell or trade
Sold at 80K miles. I expected to keep the car for at least 10 years. Rear power windows went in 2008. The transmission has slipped for 10k miles and I do not trust it. Much worse recently. Power door locks are failing and the radio controls on the steering wheel and radio were not failing. I have had 3 other Hondas. 1986 Accord went 186K. 2000 Accord replaced transmission at 80K in November. The 2005 Accord is still going strong with 35K miles. I did not realize how noisy they were until I purchased the 2011 Highlander.
