Substandard Automatic Transmission
When I bought this Van, I like most. Also the regular services costs less. But only problem is now and then Engine Check light goes on, even if gas cap is loose. And top of it recently at 39,000 miles Automatic Transmission was required to replaced. Thanks to dealer who help me alot. But if dealer want me pay for this I had no choice, since it was out of warranty. So for this cost of the car, need better warranty.
Excellent (for a van)....
We bought one of the last of these built prior to model styling change. Towards the end Honda offered DVD with cloth seating (EX RES); before, DVD was only available with leather. The Odyssey was one of the few models which would allow us to fit four car seats (4 kids under 4 yrs.) while enabling access for an adult to buckle 3rd row passengers without removing 2nd row car seats and occupants. We've taken to turning off the interior light with the dash master switch because we've run the battery down several times when we didn't know one of the kids had switched on their overhead light. Other than the transmission lubrication recall, we've gone 22K miles with no repairs, just regular maint.

My best van
The Van performes flawless and is fun to drive. The 5 speed transmission was replaced and recalled one time for improvement. The only annoyance is the wind noise with side wind and driving @ 70mph when air enters through the drivers side window.
Luv My Odyssey
This has been the best vehicle for reliability, safety, & comfort I've ever owned. Unfortunately yesterday my husband was hit in the front end, which totaled out the car [when a wheel, not just a tire, is ripped off plus the front end is hit so hard it pushes it back 6", that car is a goner]. I plan to get another Odyssey because it's such a great vehicle, even if I do hate the shift position of the gear knob.
Nice Van
Nice vanfunctional, reliable reputation. We traded a 2000 Camry LE in for this van. The Camry was plush. The van has a cheap plastic feel to it; however it seems sturdy as if it will take the abuse that is evitable from family use. Overall I think the van is practical, and if it stands up to its reliable reputation it will be a good value.
