I love my Honda
This is the best investment in a car I have ever made. After having two kids both in carseats we needed the extra room. Now everyone has extra room! The auto sliding doors are wonderful. It makes it very easy to open with the remote when your hands are full.
Great Car
I have had this vehicle since it was new. I now have 65K miles on it and it is excellent. Still runs like new. No major repairs, only two repair and one adjustment and both were covered under warranty. The maintenance cost on the vehicle is really low, especially compared to a my old Dodge mini-van.

Auto power off needed
I love my new Odyssey. With that said a fatal flaw is the lack of a auto power off feature like in Dodge and Chevy. Minivans tend to have kids in them and kids tend to leave lights on. I wouldn't go back to my Dodge Caravan because of it, but it is annoying to have the battery run down.
Hands Down the #1 Van for Families
Superior fuel economy, interior layout, and comforts second to none. It provides the added passenger space needed to travel in comfort and rear storage area behind the third row is tremendous. The interior gives families several seating options. A folding third row seat provides added storage space for transporting items. The turning radius allows the most insecure to park and move around small areas with ease. Visibility is stellar. The optional DVD system is a must for families. The front seat passengers can still control their own audio entertainment. Duel power sliding doors provide easy access at the touch of a button. What a great minivan.
The Best
Great vehicle and people mover. I have a 2000 Odyssey EX w/about 47,000 miles on it. It's used constantly especially for carpooling and running around. The 2003 Odysseys are even better w/more horsepower, better brakes and even more refinement.
Odyssey is AWESOME
We bought the Odyessey EX because we have one child, one on the way and two dogs; we needed more room than our SUV afforded. We have not been let down. This van is spacious, comfortable, rides smoothly and is quiet. The dual remote sliding doors make getting in and out a breeze. The cargo area is huge. The disappearing 3rd row seat is a snap to use. It's easy to see why these minivans are in such high demand.
An authentic review
Anyway, we've had our Odyssey for 10 months now and we love it. We are most impressed with the fun to drive factor. Most people stray away from mini vans because marketing folks make us believe that mini vans are boring. Well let me tell you, we test drove about 10 vehicles (vans and SUVs) before making a decision and no other vehicle at the time was as well rounded and versatile as the Odyssey. The SUVs have about the same room as cars and cost allot more to operate. While the mini-vans have enormous space, a high seating position, and better MPG. In addition, most mini-vans have traction control which helps allot in inclement weather.
2003 Odyssey
This vehicle has been a joy to own, it is completely reliable, fun to drive, and extremely convienent when traveling with children. It was the best vehicle I have purchased.
expected more
left dealer lot and got on highway, van shakes at 60mph,so much for pre delivery inspection.seat heater marginal at best, radio controls in steering wheel and window switches on doors are not back lite at night.have to fumble around to use.also seat heater switches are in terrible location and do not cycle off with key each time used.acc power plug on front dash in terible location on floor.first time import car owner was told honda is #1,well i guess they still have a lot of homework to do on the odyessy. not worth the money for level of trim and features.
Transmission
We bought our van used, but it only had 43K miles. At 52K miles we noticed that every morning it would hesitate shifting, or shift hard. Once it warmed up, the problem wouldn't appear until the next morning. We took it to the dealership, and they said it needed a new transmission. I am a die hard Honda lover, but am disappointed with this flaw. We buy Honda for their reliability.
Transmission trouble
At 96,000 miles the transmission failed, $4700 later and Honda won't cover it! Unbelievable, we took excellent care of this van and had hoped it would last MUCH longer. I won't buy another Honda.
Honda Odyssey 2003 EXL
I wonder what the new 2011 Honda Odyssey looks like. But couldn't wait until the fall. My kid needs to go vacation in the summer and the 2003 Honda Odyssey I have had way too old. Got broken transmission @ 120,000 miles. Now leaking steering wheel oil, just fixed it. Too much wind noise and road noise when driving a Honda car. I already looked at the 2011 Toyota Sienna and love it so much, quiet drive and interior room is awesome. Will go with the Toyota Minivan then 2011 Sienna.
Got to love the Odyssey
You can't find one thing wrong with this van. I would have payed 40,000 for this van. I think that this is the best thing since sliced bread.
WARNING!!
This has been the worst Vehicle ever! My wife and I bought it for 4000 dollars over the retail price! We have only 22000 miles on the odometer and it has had many problems the power sliding doors have numerouse problems the right side doesnt even work. the left side almost closed on my daughters hand!My next van will be a Chrysler! Numerouse problems with the transmission(and I do not shift it while the car is moving)Transmission Fully Replaced At 10000 miles Luckily it was coverd by warranty! Tons of problems with climate control to! Heres a note to edmunds STOP REFFERING THIS VAN!!!!!! ITS A PIECE OF JUNK! Also the climate control is not working properly!

2002 Space Odyssey
As far as a Mini Van is concerned, this is the best. After all, it is a Honda. Need I say more?
Loving it!!
I love my odyssey. All the room, the magic seat, the gas milage, the power doors, and all the rest. What more can we ask for.
New Honda Owner & Loving It
Research, research, research.... If you do the research that you need to do before you buy a mini-van, you will buy Honda. After you have looked at crash- test ratings, Consumer Guide, Consumer Reports, etc., go look at new prices, and compare those prices to comparably equipped one- and two-year old models. I would never have believed depreciation rates of $200-$250 PER WEEK if I had not seen it with my own four eyes. Go shop it yourself!!!! I cannot tell you which option I like the best. Smooth as glass, with plenty of power.

Great Van
Reliability is not it's only virtue. I got the tow package, it toes my boat fine. Handels well and rides smoothly. I am not a fan of vans, but the Honda Odyssey one is really good vehicle that happens to be a van.
Great van
I Love our new van it is great. Awsome leather, And my two kids are in heaven watching dvds in the back.
CUJO has spoken
Just got it and i love it
Jack's Review
We bought one with a DVD player and my daughter loves it! Honda is the way to go on vans!
Smooth Rider
Our '03 Odyssey EXL has been what we expected in all categories fo far. It's roomy, quiet, easy to handle & easy to get in & out off.Quality shines in this vehicle & the Honda reputation is behind it along with good ole American workers putting it together. The PRIDE shows..
LOVE MY ODYSSEY!!!
BOUGHT 2003 ODYSSEY LAST JUNE AFTER CHECKING AND TEST DRIVING SEVERAL MINIVANS. GREAT VEHICLE, VERY ROOMY, VERY DEPENDABLE, VERY WELL MADE AND VERY EASY TO MANEUVER. COULDN'T HAVE BOUGHT ANY BETTER; JUST LOVE MY ODYSSEY!!!
No other minivan compares
I have owned honda vehicles since my first one in 1985. They are without a doubt the most reliable vehicle you can buy. Our new Odyssey is no exception. I noted that there are many negative reviews in here. All I can say is that they must be using it for off road purposes! My wife, kids and I couldnt be happier after dumping our Dodge Grand Caravan that had MANY problems, including a transmission that needed to be replaced. The Odyssey is one of the tops for reliabilty and worksmanship. Our Grand Caravan was terrible and all of our friends and aquaintences said the same about their american vans.
Grat Baby Transporter
Car runs like all Hondas...smooth, safe ride. Children are loaded at waist level which reduces stress on caretaker's back. Plenty of room for stroller and packages in rear.
I own this car
THIS CAR IS THE BOMB. IT IS THE BEST CAR FOR THE FAMILY. IT IS A % SPEED AUTOMATIC(FASTEST VAN)SO YOU CAN RACE YOUR FRIENDS THAT HAV VANS AND WIN> IT BLOWS THE SIEENA AWY>VERY SAFE> I HAVE 15k miles on my van and ther are no problems with it. GREAT VAN. WORTH EVERYPENNY.
The switch from a SUV
Had an SUV for previous 5 years and will never get another one after owning the Odyssey. Outperforms SUV going uphill in snow. Better ride and much quieter. Access in and out of the vehicle is great. SUV was a big ordeal for the kids "climbing in" The van remained roomy on family vacations with loads of camping stuff including bikes mounted on a rear trailer hitch. Powerful engine, drag raced a cowboy in his jacked up noisy pickup truck and blew him away. Paid $481.00 per month on a 48 mo.lease with option to buy for $15K at the end. 12K miles per year.
The ultimate road trip vehicle
What a great buy! We wanted a new bigger vehicle to do some major camping and family road trips, and we researched everything. After test driving the Toyota Sienna, a few SUVs (Nissan Pathfinder, etc), we felt for our family of four, and a beagle, the best buy would be this Honda Odyssey. The space/cargo room, the versatility of the seating, Hondas reputation, and the options you get for the price made this a great value and an easy choice for us. Plus, it's the best looking mini-van out there! We love it!!!
Surprised
We really like the room and versatility, but frankly were surprised at the many features lacking for this price point. For example, it does not have the following: trip computer, outside temperature gauge, compass, auto lights, leather wrapped steering wheel, seat memory, backup sensors, CD changer, or good stereo system. On top of this, it comes with a rather skimpy warranty (3yr/36k miles). Many vehicles we looked at came with these features and others, but in the end, it was Honda's reputation for quality that sold us. I guest I'll just have to wait and see if this reputation is deserved. So far so good.
Nice Van
I am pleased overall. First the bad. This minivan has a lot more windnoise than any previous honda vehicle I've driven. The factory radio/cd player has poor sound quality. So consider getting an aftermarket unit. It also does not allow enough flexibility in the volume control. It's either way too loud or too soft... My wife and I love the strong engine, power sliding doors, and heated leather seats. It drives like a car, not like a van. I'm not sure why people are giving this bad marks for gas mileage. Mileage is very good for a minivan. I am consistently getting over 20 mpg in mixed driving....much better than SUV's..
odyssey--no other van
I do not know how anyone could consider any van other than a Honda Odyssey. It is the most wonderful van made.
Buyer Beware
Purchased new and vehicle was fine until it got to 45,000. Transmission seals failed ($900). Dealer said out of warranty so you pay. Tranny's first scheduled service was 45,000. Dash board lights started to fail at 50,000. Now at 75,000 tranny is dead and must be replaced ($5,500). 34 years of car ownsership and never owned anything nearly this bad. Just glad my 12-year old Ford with 210,000 miles on it is reliable.
Oddysey is not a bad choice!!!!!!
Since I bought the vehicle, there has been nothing wrong with it. The color I got was a little darker than I hoped, but besides that minor problem, just high hopes!
Quality Ride
It is great to have a quality vehicle in our family. Before purchasing our Odessy, we were riding in a four door Ford Explorer. On long trips it was difficult for my wife to get to our 4 months old twins when they were crying. Now that we have our van it is easier to walk between the seat to care for our children. We do not even have to get out the vehicle. The Odessy is a vehicle that can grow with our family for a long while.
Love my van!
It's been almost a year now since I purchased my Honda Odyssey. I really have enjoyed this vehicle. It's great being a single mom. I have the room to haul around things for my daughter. Take her friends to the mall, etc. It's a very comfortable ride!
Great Family Vehicle
Our 2003 Odyssey EX-L RES has thus far been exactly what we expected in all aspects. It spacious, quiet, handles great, and is packed with the features we desire. The Honda reputation for quality, which we have come to expect, shines through in this vehicle. Over the years we have owned 5 Honda's, including this minivan, and we continue to be fans of Honda vehicles. Plus: The kids love the DVD system.
Happy Wife/Happy Children
I wasn't planning on purchasing a mini van but I did. I took a test drive and was satisfied with the performance. I like the trunk space and the ability of the third row seat to fold into the trunk space. Relocating the spare tire between the 1st & 2nd row seats was a great idea. Why did I purchase an Odyssey versus American brand and Toyota? I previously owned a 1986 Honda Accord and own a 1996 Acura 2.5TL and never had problems with both cars (Honda - 275,000 miles/ Acura - 155,000 miles). Honda is a quality product that I and my family can depend on.
2003 Odyssey Minivan
Had to bring in for service of alignment. Aligment is still below par. I am very disappointed in the steering. Van pulls to the right constantly.
Another Van
The Honda is a great van. It drives almost as nice as the Mazda, but has the space you need. Middle row seats are very comfortable, interior is well designed. Five speed transmission is a big plus over the domestics. Quiter engine than the 04 Sienna and far less body roll too.
Great van for its price.
Great van to haul a bunch of people and plenty of power to do it with. The interior could have function better if it has more useful items such as a storage console instead of a tray, external thermostat, compass, etc. The power outlet in the front is too low to access while driving.
best minivan
i love the van i was away on vacation and rented a oldsmobile couldnt compare them the ride in the honda and the drivers seat and whole interior was not comftarble
2003 Honda Odyssey
Lots of road noise in van costing this much. Also, missing features that should be standard in this price range: Automatic headlights Memory seats Better radio
reliable but noisy
I have owned this vehicle for five years now and the mileage is 152,000 miles and still no major problems. I used this to work and I commute more than 3,000 miles mostly highway a month. I changed oil every 5,000 miles and have the tires rotated every 5,000 miles too. I bought my tires at Costco, Michelin Hydroedge and tire mileage is 90,000 miles and still not worn out. Just maintain this car on schedule and you will be trouble free. I never had any transmission problem.
Terible vehicle
Needed to buy a used minivan to transport people and cargo. Looked at many vans before I bought this 2003 Odyssey. Owner said all maintenace was done. After 32 miles check engine light come on and the transmission starts jerking. Know better to go to dealership so I took it to my trusted auto repair. He told me 6 codes came up and that the transmission was shot. I paid $3000 for the van and he said to fix it the cost would not be worth it. $4600 to repair all problems. Dont buy Honda. I should have checked out more options before I bought this POS. Learned my lesson the hard way.

Over paid Odyssey
Nice vehicle, wish it was quieter. I rented a 02 sienna the last year for a trip and could talk without raising my voice. Over rough roads, pretty noisy. I even had $1200 soundproofing done but it needs to be designed from the ground up. This on top of $1000 over list.
King of the family cars
I'm not a van lover. With kids now and the lack of gas mileage in the large SUVs, I can't deny this thing is a true winner. The only reason I didn't give it a perfect 10 is lack of memory seats and leather steering wheel. Dealer's won't negotiate much on these still, but they are worth the money. Got the EX with DVD system for $1000 under MSRP and a couple of extras thrown in. THe rear liner is good to have. No regrets, would buy again.
Great if you can afford a new tranny
We have only had ours for a year and a half. It has 95,000 and a DEAD transmission. Called American Honda and they told us ours has been serviced under the warranty in Feb 05. Well whatever they did only lasted 3 1/2 years and now we have a $4000+ bill for a new transmission and an Electronic Computer Unit. They told us take it to your local Honda dealer, let them diagnose and they will tell us if they can help cover any charges. Most likely if they can't help us it will be gone. We can't risk needing a new transmission every 3 1/2 years. If it weren't for safety ratings I'd have an American made van with a cheaper tag for parts and better service
Another Honda
Our 5th Honda, but first Odyssey. I wanted the more powerful engine that came in 2002, so buying used was not an option. Gas mileage does not suffer with extra power due to 5th gear on the highway. It's not glamorous or luxurious, but it just feels right. Everything is where it should be and the leather seats are wonderful for easy clean up after messy kids. We've taken several long trips (1000 mile or more) and felt safe and comfortable.
