What a GREAT VAN!!
This is the best van in the WORLD!! I can't even begin to tell you how much I enjoy driving it each and every day. I commute 45 miles each way to work and I must say I enjoy it -- because of my Honda Odyessy!
No more Hondas!
I have owned over 7 Hondas in the last 10 years and am thoroughly dissapointed with my 03 EX w/DVD. Only 37k to date All of this fun for a $29000 van: 1. Michelin tires-junk after 20k w/rotations. 2. replaced trans 2x 3. TCS light-intermittent 4. lt slider-came off the track 5. poor gas mileage 6. ck engine light-numerous occasions 7. battery after 2000 miles Next van will definitely not be a Honda.

honda odyssey
great minivan for anyone who needs to haul people, good fuel economy on road but only average day to day, from honda so of course great dependability, fun to drive and great cornering for such a large vehicle, all around good minivan
2002 Honda Odyssey
Not one bit of trouble with this great car in almost two years. We made a 5000 mile trip with a dog this summer and it was very comfortable, excellent air conditioning, completely trouble free. Would buy another Odyssey in a minute! Our Honda dealership and service department is excellent. We are repeat Honda customers, of course.
Bought a 2nd One
liked it so much I bought a 2nd one
Odyssey Transmission Plague
Great van with one huge exception! Transmission failed at 22K new one on the way. A review of owner forums has revealed that this is an issue that Honda has either been able to fix or refuses (you would have think I purchased a Ford. I have read reviews that this is happening even with the 2005 model Odysseys. What gives Honda?
The best mini-van ever!!!
We bought our Odyssey in Aug03 had to relocate due to the military and drove over 5000 miles to Alaska from Georgia packed with 3 kids, two small dogs and all our luggage. This mini-van had great power driving up steep hills & mountains even with 2in. of snow, it handled the road conditions as if we had studded tires and the traction control did great. It was a smooth drive and did great on gas mileage.
Van with a Car's soul
I got rid of my 4Runner, due to a baby we had and wanted a nice ride, but I was not willing to buy a van. We took a trip to Nashville from Atlanta, and I fell in love with the Odyssey. The next wee I went and got one. This is not your typical mother's van. This baby can move and hadle like a coupe. It has plenty of juice and the features are execelent. Yes, my friends do make fun of me because I am only 26, but then again, this the our choice of transportation for trips out of town. You can go 95 and not know it, it is soooo smooth.
GOOD FAMILY VEHICLE
This is our third Honda product (Accord and Acura Legend). As usual, Honda seems to have it figured out "under the hood" but could use some assistance with interior design and other mechanical features. Wife and children love the vehicle. I enjoy the drive when given the opportunity.
Honda At It's Best!
Odyssey exceeds in every level from a Minivan expectations. Most Power(240HP) in it's class! Sedan Like Ride, SUV Like Spacious. You get more than what you pay for, a well equipped EX Model comes with Dual Sliding Doors, Security, Premium Sound, ABS, Traction Control and Four Wheel Disc Brakes. Same features in any Competing Vans will cost you more But you still won't the quality. The Bottom Line - It's a HONDA!
Is there a better Minivan?
Quite Simply the best minivan on the market. here and abroad. The ride is great, power is more than adequate, beats my 98 Widstar hands down. The dissapearing third row seat should win an innovation award. It drives so well I am hard pressed to decide between the 2003 V6 Accord and another minivan
The Straight Scoop
Know what you are buying! This model has many positive features such as roomy, comfy, functional interior, good gas mileage compared to SUV's, and sufficient power to keep most everyone satisfied. However, it also has high incident rates for transmission failure, rear brakes noises, interior noise and various electrical issues with clocks and lights. Every vehicle has its weaknesses and this one is no exception. Some may get lucky and avoid any major problems. We have not been so lucky and have spent more than $7,000 on maintenance and repairs in the 18 months we have owned it. Don't assume the Honda nameplate means anything. You may get a quality vehicle, or you may end up with a lemon.
Can't match it!
I have had MANY cars through the years, I'm in my 60's. I thoroughly enjoy this one.I LOVE the disappearing back seat and also the well where I can put my groceries etc..The seats are very comfortable too. I also like The 2nd set of seats( behind driver). One can move against the other to make a bench seat or separated as bucket seats. And It is extremely easy to remove the seat if you need to. I can haul a lot of things and fairly large ones.I don't know anything about under the hood however my husband does and is VERY satisfied.NO problems whatsoever!!!I LOVE IT and wouldn't think twice about getting another one!!!!!
You Can't Go Wrong
This is my 2nd Odyssey since the design change to the larger style. The first minivan I owned was a Grand Caravan that I bought new. After 3 yrs of many problems and headaches at the dealership I decided to trade it for a99 Odyssey. I had it for a few yrs and traded up to a new '03 model. Honda service has been far superior to other dealerships I have dealt with. This vehicle drives much better than the Grand Caravan I owned. If you are buying a minivan, give the Odyssey serious consideration. If it is a little more expensive than another model you are considering, it will be cheaper in the long run with fewer service calls and a whole lot less headaches at the dealership.
Love Car, Hate Transmission
We purchased this car second hand from a local Honda dealer, and until recently I considered it the best car I have ever owned. This was my first Honda and I was so impressed with it that when the time came to replace my commuter car I purchased a new Civic. This was until the tranny started to act strange. Soon after the dash warning lights come on. A trip to the local mechanic confirmed that the transmission is throwing three separate failure codes and will need to be rebuilt or replaced. Internet search has shown me that these failures are commonplace and that I got more life than most out my transmission. I expected more from Honda.
2003 Honda Odyssey
The van handles nicely with plenty of power. The exterior is nice. The interior design is the selling feature. It is spacious throughout the vehicle. The rear seat will fold down into the floor making a level surface in the back for cargo, or you can take the back seat and flip it backwards for a tailgate party! The captains chairs in the second row are comfortable and can slide together to make a bench seat. The safety features include dual front and side airbags and reinforced door panels for the second row.
car owner
Excellent what can I say?
We love it.
We needed room; we got it with the Odyssey. The second row of seats has more room than anything we looked at including the gargantuan Suburban. It is perfectly reliable, easy to drive, easy to see out of, and provides all the room needed for long holiday trips. Remote side doors essential when raising infant twins. The dealership (Honda of St. Johns in Portland, OR) was the best automotive experience I've ever had. I expect that level of service from nice restaurants, not dealerships, but we were treated so incredibly well.
High Performance and maximum utility
This van probably should be called the Honda Optimum. It is like having your cake and eating it too. The performance is better than most cars. It can tow up to 3500 lbs. It has a lateral acceleration up to .73. The leather seats are very comfortable. The navigation system enables you to never get lost again. Just simply flip the rear seat into the floor and you have a huge cargo bay. The steering control knob for the vol. and selection is great too. This vehicle does it all well. Zero to sixty in 7.8 seconds with 240 ponies sipping about 19 mpg combined city Highway and lots of idling in park. This the best ride I've ever owned.
It's a honda
This is an excellent minivan. The power and handling are excellent, although it does have a bit of torque steer when accelerating. When comparing features and price with other minivans, the honda was by far the best. Maine pot holes and salt have not hindered our Honda in the first year, nor do I expect it to be hindered in the future. Overall an excellent vehicle.
Very nice Van
I like it a lot
Great family minivan
Overall nice car. Perfect for a growing family and all the gear. The Odyssey is great for around town and wonderful on long trips.
Wow, what great Van!
It was a tough decision - we're a Honda family but after driving the Odyssey the decision became easier. We sold our 1988 Honda Accord and wanted more room - the Odyssey fit the bill. We drove the Pilot but found more room in the Odyssey. No complaints - it is wonderful!
This van rocks!
The Odyssey is everything my family wants in a minivan. Alright, so it's no sports car, but with the V6, 240 horsepower engine, it has power to spare when getting on the highway. The cabin is voluminous, so the kids hang out far in the back. The power outlet makes for easy TV/DVD hookup without buying the overpriced iVES. Highly recommended.
Family Plus-Bus
My wife and I have owned our Odyssey for about 3 months now and we love it. The extra room and versatility of the vehicle is exemplary. The 3.5 V6 is all the engine it needs. I cannot wait to get it out on the highway for an extended period of time. This was the perfect vehicle when we had our first child, Sam. We look forward to using it for many years to come.
practical good looking van
I can go to the park with my 2 kids , my wife and still have space for a baby carruage and a 12 volts toy car(for two kids. All that only took 7 minutes to load. I always like the body style.
Honda Odyssey "Outstanding"
Comfort, reliable and quite, plus a powerful engine. Can't get any finer mini van
Best Minivan i ever had
I like driveing this van.
unreliable, overpriced heap
This will be my 2nd 2003 odyssey. The 1st had problems starting, the 2nd within 6 months the air conditioning went out now there's a problem with the electrical system, the "dinger" doesn't always ding when the key is in and the door is open and the interior lights click on and off as if there is a short. Honda is awful in "taking care" of their customers, they have a buyer's beware attitude, once you sign the line it's your problem, so what if you are paying for a vehicle that is in the shop more than it is on the road.
Good van
We just picked up this van last week. EX with leather, DVD. We love everything about the van, except the seats, I think they are the most uncomfortable seats I've ever sat on. I'm surprised others rate the comfort as high??? The engine's awesome though!
Luv my van!
We bought my van after my 2nd child was born. I have 2 in child car seats and love that both side doors open wfor easy access for getting them in and out. The 3rd rear seat flips back acting as a great changing table area. I've also used the floor in front of the 2nd seats to change diapers as there is enough space there too. Lots of cup holders. The rear seat hides in the trunk area giving lots of extra room back there for strollers. The trunk area is HUGE. The DVD player is great for occupying the kids. Leather is must with kids with all their crumbs and spills making it easy clean up. Lots of interior space to move around inside on long trips.
Awesome Van
Had this van for several weeks and really love it!! The DVD system is wonderful to keep kids entertained and the wireless headphones are great for them to listen to a movie while you are listening to the radio or a CD up front. We owned a Plymouth Grand Voyager and what a piece of junk!!! One problem after another. This is the 3rd Honda we have owned and so far we have never been disappointed. Decided to get rid of the Plymouth and return back to a Honda for dependability.
Great Vehicle, not just a van
This minivan sets the standard that Toyota had to copy from to introduce its new Sienna. While we got an EX with 10" DVD player, it has been great for the 1-2 hour trips that we have taken. It has superb reliability and has only needed oil changes every 5000 miles. That's all we have done to it! Must get the black plastic rug protector for behind the third seat as milk or leaking meat can leave stains without it. Has great pickup even when fully loaded with 7 passengers. No 2003 van comes close to the standard set by Honda. By the way, we also have a 2003 Accord and love it as well. We are truly a Honda family. Wish I had done this years ago.
I love it
My family & I love this vehicle and we never regret what we pay for.
2002 Honda Odyssey
Excellent vehicle. Very easy to drive and visability is very good. Excellent turning radius. Plenty of power.
Mini Van that still needs improvements
Good Power train and lots of room make this van a great hauler. But needs many improvements specialy the driver seat support.
ok
RIDE IS GREAT. GAS MILEAGE IS AVERAGE. SAME AS THE 1992 VOYAGER I OWNED. INTERIOR QC COULD BE BETTER.
honda beliver
we have always loved honda and last year almost went with the toyota glad we didn't after driving the ultimate in mini vans the ride is so so smooth and the power under the hood can't be matched. the auto doors are a must with young children. the latch and tethers are easy to use and in convenient locations. the folding rear set is such a help with moving things. the spare tire is in a great place behind the driver leaving the deep space for the 3rd seat.
The Premier Minivan
My wife and I test drove Mazda, Dodge, and the Odyssey. The Odyssey had the best features for the money. I have owned several cars and trucks for about 30 years, but this vehicle is the most enjoyable one I have owned. It is fun to drive and has been a pleasure to ride in. I hope that I still will love it after more miles are put on it.
Great Vehicle, But One Complaint
We purchased an '03 Odyssey EX-L in June of 2005. It was practically new (6000 miles). So far, we have put nearly 3000 miles on it, including a family trip to Pennsylvania, and it has been absolutely perfect. My only complaint with the Odyssey is that the interior is a little rattly. When the road is somewhat bumpy, quite common in NYC, the interior shimmies and shakes and rattles. I had a '97 Accord once and it never rattled like that. I don't know whether this is endemic with minivans or just my vehicle. Otherwise, its a great vehicle, fun to drive, plenty of power and with numerous amenities. Typical Honda. I rate it 8 out of 10 overall.
no that good
pull to the left transmission noise wind noise
powerfull fun to dr van
rides very well, and handles good.
Lovin' my new Odyssey
I just purchased an Odyssey a little over a week ago. I was home visiting my parents in Wisconsin and traded in the Voyager for the Odyssey and drove it home to Florida (1100 miles) I loved everything about driving long distance with the Honda. The kids (4 and 2) were separated from each other in the second row buckets, that was great. The DVD player was a lifesaver and I love the lower lumbar adjustment on the driver seat for my lower back. And I got better gas mileage than with the 2.4 ltr. Plymouth.
Ody 2002 Nice van
Looked at them all and found this one to have it all, power, looks and comfort. Reliablity is also a plus. No problems to date, oil changes only!!!
Honda Odyssey
We bought our Odyssey new in June and in regular summer driving it has reasonable acceleration and handling. Great cargo capacity. We havent had any problems with the vehicle and can find no fault with the design except for the dashboard heater control placement and the poor seats.
GOTTA LOVE HONDA MINIVANS
I love my Honda minivan and my kids love it even more. It has a luxurious and smooth ride, power everything, even heated seats. It is the ultimate kid vehicle for comfort. They can sit in the back and recline their seats on long rides to sleep. They watch movies or listen to music on the headphones. I never hear a peep.
Jacobsen Review
We've loved every minute of having this automobile. I researched for over a year before choosing this minivan. I haven't regreted my choice for a second. This will be the only model of Minivan that this family ever has.
Our Odyssey is great!
We've only had it a month and a half, but compared to our 1994 Plymouth Voyager, this van is a dream. One setback is that it gets 17-19 miles per gallon on the highway. Two advantages that the Voyager has however, are rolling door locks and a light under the hood which is convenient if you have to check your oil level or some other thing at night.
Solid Minivan, but not yet perfect.
I have had this van for a few months now, after trading in a 1999 Dodge Grand Caravan for it. With the exception of a few minor complaints this van is extraordinary. It drives like a car, handles very well, and has plenty of power. The transmition shifts very smooth, nearly un-noticeable, and does an Excelent job finding the right gear for city or highway driving. Pleanty of room for my family of 5. Highly recommended.
Never Thought I would buy a mini-van
With the arrival of our first child and the aging of my wife's car, we started to look for a dependable, safe car - and picked the Odyssey because of its safety features. I never knew how comfortable a mini-van could be.
