Happy in my new Odyssey!
We just bought a 2003 Honda Odyssey EX. I love...love...love it! Can't find one thing that I am not crazy about. It's comfortable..drives great. I highly recommend this vehicle. We looked at the 2004 Sienna, which I have to say was very nice. The Odyssey just took the cake, for us. Better visability...features were more convienent. Our dealership was wonderful! A+++++++ All around for this Happy Odyssey Family!
Excellence!
I've never had a bad experience with any Honda I've ever owned.

Quality
My husband bought this van for me on our anniversary and I love it. So does my 2 year old. Especially the entertainment system. Honda is willing to deal and you'll get all the bells and whistles if your willing to negotiate with them. Buy online through this website. It's the way to go. I really love this van and I don't have anything negative to say about it. It's a quality vehicle.
Minivan of Choice
I have only owned this van for a little more than a month, and so far, it has been perfect in every way. My only complaint is that it goes through a 20 gallon tank of gas pretty quick. Not as good MPG as boosted, but heck, I am still breaking it in also. Seating for seven is very comforatable, easy to drive and great to look at.
First New Honda
We finally traded our '96 DGC-LE for a new '03 Ody EX-L. I got a discount off MSRP of ~$2,500. The leather interior is so comfortable and the power, performace, and handling really exposed my old van's sloppy ride and very poor pick-up. We like the power doors, large rear cargo area, and excellent climate control system. There were a couple of items I wish it had (temp/compass display and 60/40 split 3rd row mainly). I also feel my family is much safer given this car's on road safety record over the last few years and the crash scores (much better than our old van). We are looking forward to 6-7 years of comfortable, reliable, safe driving.
Best vehicle I ever owned
My wife and I just purchased this wonderful vehicle in anticipation of our new child. We currently have a 3 year old. We had to look around for someone who would negotiate with us and we found one ($2000 less than MSRP, with mud guards). We almost gave up and purchased a Toyota Sienna. Since I purchased this vehicle, I find myself wanting to drive longer distances.
This van had 2 recalls.
Has any one had tranny problems after the recall was done ? They added a oil cooler line to 2nd gear, Honda told me this stopped the transmission problem, I have my doubts.
Hate it, but I love this Minivan
I was one of those folks: "I'll never drive a minivan." But I do...and it's SO convenient...and the Odyssey is wonderful. It's got pick-up like a car, and convenience that I never dreamed of having. When my boys are older, I confess, I'll dump it for a "regular" vehicle, but for now...it can't be beat!
One of the best I have ever owned
I have had my Odyssey for ten months. It is one of the best vehicles of any type that I have owned. I do a lot of highway driving and some long trips and I am always rested and comfortable upon my arrival. Being a musician, the sound system is important to me and the Odessey's system sounds great. I can see why this mini-van is always rated #1.
Great but not perfect
This van puts both our 95 & 98 Grand Caravans to shame. The seat heaters should turn off with key. Interior noise is only major complaint. This car should be much quieter. Have 3 kids, so a split folding rear seat would be appreciated (Like upcoming 04 Sienna). Plenty of power and cornering ability. At this price, full roof rack, fog lamps, auto headlamps, power antenna, hood struts, should be standard. Would buy another one.
lease
it's the best mini van
Great Minivan....but, needs better MPG
I surpised my wife with the EX-L w/ DVD for our 6th anniversary. She loves it. It's fun to drive, great acceleration, roomy, fits in my garage, and the kids are SILENT when the DVD is playing in the back. We love it! One suggestion...the city mpg is horrible. I wouldn't think she'd have to fill the tank once a week, but she does.
03 Honda Odyssee
The 03 Odysse is fun to drive. Steering is positive, visibility is excellent, brakes are excellent, and the acceleration is smooth. On the down side: Road noise is a bit pronouced, could not get navagation system and cassette together (which is very annoying), vehicle and accessories are overpriced, the backs of the front seats need more side support to hold you in place on curves. The Sienna has curtains and the navi system with a cassette player. Might look at that for next van.
Honda 2003 Very good overall
Overall an excellent car with very good handling and breaking. Very spacious and well-designed interior. Some minor quibbles: no heated side mirrors, extra resevoir for the rear washer fluid, or daylight running lights (all available in Canada).
Listen Up
Yeah, it is true. You canlt negotiate on thes much. You probably pay an extra 1-2k that a comparable solution. BUT, with a 53% depreciation value after 5 years (Money Magazine 2003), ths van should be worth around 16- 17,000 after 5 years. Look at resales of american minis and you won;t have a problem paying a few bucks up front. Plus, it is safe, tight, fast as hell, and awesome to drive.
Doesn't live up to Honda quality
Traded in a Dodge Minvan and wish I hadn't. Found that this vehicle is very noisy. Unhappy with transmission dropping the gear due to recalled problem. Have gotten no help from several dealerships that don't think I know what I'm talking about and since they've installed the Honda "fix" they say that there isn't a problem. Husband drives a Pilot - that's very nice. Will be trading in soon (and can't wait). Will never buy and Odyssey again.
Simply the best!
Simply the best! No tricks, just pure driving precision and enjoyment!
Great Minivan
We love our Honda Minivan! We waited until the new Siennas to come out to make our purchasing decision, and we preferred the suspension on the honda. The Toyota was very nice, but we liked the honda better.
Heaven sent
I love the Honda Odyssey. It drives like a dream. It's very quiet and has a lot of pick up and go power. The children have lots of room to spread out.The high quality leather makes for a very comfortable ride. In the winter time seat warmers! The one thing I dislike the most is the back door is hard to close. I wish it had a power door, just push a button and your there.
Great Van
It is a great van so far. But it is too early to tell the reliability of the van.
Never thought it would happen
I spent a lot of time looking for a mini-van hoping that I would never find one that I liked. Well that all ended when I went to the Honda dealer and discovered the Odyssey. With three children and a fourth on the way this vehicle is exactly what myself and the wife needed. The interior is loaded with practical features that were not present in other mini-vans we looked at. The Odyssey handles and feels like a car not a van or truck. It has great acceleration and is very comfortable. I drove my entire family including the three dogs to North Carolina with no problems. I highly reccomend this vehicle but it is not cheap.
Solid as a rock
I love this van, the only annoying thing about it is when driving on some back country roads that are rough and gravelry w/potholes the ride gets a just a "little" bone jarring. But I think that is the same for all the other vans out there too.I needed to get around a tractor with 2 cars behind it on a 2-way single lane and the van just rocketed by. One guy we shot by just dropped his jaw and the movement from his lips said "Damn, a minivan?" I had floored it from 30mph to 65mph in no time. Cut hard right back in front of the tractor due to oncoming cars in the opposite lane with little body roll.
Honda Odyssey Review
Van has excellent workmanship and a powerful extremely quite engine. It has been reliable and has a lot of interior room expecially with the 3rd seat folded into the floor.
great van
Just switched from a 2001 MVP which was had very poor performance from the engine and horrible gas millage. The controls in the Honda have a much more substantial feel. The well controlled solid ride, excellent handling and interior features are second to none.
Happy with Honda
Needed to respond based on the reviews of some grouchy drivers not happy with their Odysseys. Have had my Odyssey since new. Very little trouble (125k mi). Good power when needed, but decent gas mileage (18-20) for a people mover. With 4 growing boys, have thought about moving up to a Yukon XL. Nothing against the GMC but there are a ton of used ones for sale. Not many used Odysseys. People are happy with them and keep them.
Honda Odyssey EX 2003
Absolutely wonderful vehicle! You can be confident with this purchase. All other minivans are inferior to the Honda Odyssey EX 2003! We had terrible luck with Ford Minivans and Dodge Minivans. As a consumer, the Honda Odyssey is a breath of fresh air. All others pale in comparison. As a mother, this vehicle is superior!
Nice van
Best van That I have ever owned all a great package good price. Good get up and go horse power nice v6
honda odyssey
this has been a great purchase...an absolute pleasure to drive and so easy to handle
Honda Odyssey 2003- Rated all 10's
This is our first family van. It has exceeded all the requirements that we weere expecting. We love it.. It has power under the hood, especially when you really need it. Rated the best and will always be the Best... Safety Ratings= Outstanding.. Once you get into one, you'll be amazed...
Best minivan on the market
This vehicle accomplished many goals .It is proven to be one the out of 3 minivans one out the safest. From all the minivans it is the most realiable
A wonderful minivan!
This vehicle has an exceptional smooth ride and no real blind spots that I could detect. I have become a fan of the Odyssey since my first purchase in 2002. I don't think I would ever own any other vehicle. Overall, this vehicle has a high rating in both safety and comfort. I would recommend this vehicle to anyone who has a large family and likes to travel or likes space and comfort.
A full Package
just a perfect mini van
Best Family Vehicle Made
This is my second Odyssey and frankly even after the kids are grown, I see myself remaining a loyal Odyssey owner. The car navigates terrifc, is ultra comfortable, and holds (so far) anything I have tried. Love it!
My new Honda Odyssey
The Odyssey is by far the best Minivan that I have ever driven. Love the 240 HP V6 engine. The 3rd seats which magically disappear are a huge plus. The high safety rating combined with a very comfortable ride have made me an extremely happy owner.
Great Van
I drive this car into the ground. We have the EX with the entertainment package. It is absolutely wonderful to travel in with children and family pets. We had to order it a few months in advance just to get one which was disappointing, but it was worth the wait. I did research on all the mini- van before purchasing this one. It had the best service record, milage, horsepower and amenities. The magic seat is so convenient and makes hauling cargo so easy. I would purchase it again after we wear this one out!!!
Transmission
We bought our van used, but it only had 43K miles. At 52K miles we noticed that every morning it would hesitate shifting, or shift hard. Once it warmed up, the problem wouldn't appear until the next morning. We took it to the dealership, and they said it needed a new transmission. I am a die hard Honda lover, but am disappointed with this flaw. We buy Honda for their reliability.
The Best I Have Ever Had
As the owner of 18 new vehicles over the past 40 years nothing else even comes close. The Odyssey is that good.
Love it
Just bought the 2003 EX model. The power doors are so nice with having two kids. And the powerful motor is great. Everybody saying something about the gas mileage most not understand this thing kicks out 240hp. Guess they could buy a Chevy Venture w/ 185hp with 1 mile to the gallon higher and pay the same price.?. I love all the features it has. Hidy went below MSRP and tossed in a trailer hitch and mud flaps for free. They are a great dealership in Ohio.
LX Impressions at 1Kmi
Every time I drive the vehicle, there's more to appreciate and enjoy. We were looking for an uncomplicated vehicle without (and contrary to most people) power slider doors. We own another Honda and appreciate the build quality and reliability, but also design and function of both vehicles. They appeal to the engineering side of the driver/owner.
Our Odyssey Journey
We were on the market for a minivan (replace 97 Mercury Villager) in 2003, and set to Odyssey since Sienna was redesigned and hot (months of waiting just like Odyssey few months ago). We got good price on the LX ($300 below invoice). The first month the van was back to dealership twice for both front struts. Few months later, the AC was broken, then the clock light. Last month, the engine speed went up and down (between 2000 to 4000) while idling. The dealer replaced the idle control unit. The rear brakes always make noise, but the dealer says it is normal. We now have 23k m on the van, it has been in shop SEVEN(7) times. We have never had any problem with our Toyotas and the Villager.
2002 Honda Odyssey
Not one bit of trouble with this great car in almost two years. We made a 5000 mile trip with a dog this summer and it was very comfortable, excellent air conditioning, completely trouble free. Would buy another Odyssey in a minute! Our Honda dealership and service department is excellent. We are repeat Honda customers, of course.
Bought a 2nd One
liked it so much I bought a 2nd one
Odyssey Transmission Plague
Great van with one huge exception! Transmission failed at 22K new one on the way. A review of owner forums has revealed that this is an issue that Honda has either been able to fix or refuses (you would have think I purchased a Ford. I have read reviews that this is happening even with the 2005 model Odysseys. What gives Honda?
Can't match it!
I have had MANY cars through the years, I'm in my 60's. I thoroughly enjoy this one.I LOVE the disappearing back seat and also the well where I can put my groceries etc..The seats are very comfortable too. I also like The 2nd set of seats( behind driver). One can move against the other to make a bench seat or separated as bucket seats. And It is extremely easy to remove the seat if you need to. I can haul a lot of things and fairly large ones.I don't know anything about under the hood however my husband does and is VERY satisfied.NO problems whatsoever!!!I LOVE IT and wouldn't think twice about getting another one!!!!!
Love Car, Hate Transmission
We purchased this car second hand from a local Honda dealer, and until recently I considered it the best car I have ever owned. This was my first Honda and I was so impressed with it that when the time came to replace my commuter car I purchased a new Civic. This was until the tranny started to act strange. Soon after the dash warning lights come on. A trip to the local mechanic confirmed that the transmission is throwing three separate failure codes and will need to be rebuilt or replaced. Internet search has shown me that these failures are commonplace and that I got more life than most out my transmission. I expected more from Honda.
2003 Honda Odyssey
The van handles nicely with plenty of power. The exterior is nice. The interior design is the selling feature. It is spacious throughout the vehicle. The rear seat will fold down into the floor making a level surface in the back for cargo, or you can take the back seat and flip it backwards for a tailgate party! The captains chairs in the second row are comfortable and can slide together to make a bench seat. The safety features include dual front and side airbags and reinforced door panels for the second row.
car owner
Excellent what can I say?
no that good

powerfull fun to dr van
rides very well, and handles good.
Lovin' my new Odyssey
I just purchased an Odyssey a little over a week ago. I was home visiting my parents in Wisconsin and traded in the Voyager for the Odyssey and drove it home to Florida (1100 miles) I loved everything about driving long distance with the Honda. The kids (4 and 2) were separated from each other in the second row buckets, that was great. The DVD player was a lifesaver and I love the lower lumbar adjustment on the driver seat for my lower back. And I got better gas mileage than with the 2.4 ltr. Plymouth.
