BEWARE-Rear view window has poor visibility

dljon, 04/08/2011
2011 Honda CR-V LX 4dr SUV AWD (2.4L 4cyl 5A)
3 of 3 people found this review helpful

If there's someone short standing behind the vehicle, you will not be able to see them because the rear view window leaves a huge blind spot. I bought this car solely because of safety features, not realizing this problem. Definitely recommend a back up camera even though I never needed one in past vehicles. Also, the gas mileage is no where near as good as it should be. Still love the car as it's very comfortable to sit in with good lower back support. The car also handles perfectly. The AWD handles beautifully in the snow and ice. I would have not made it through this winter without these features! I would recommend this car 100% if the owner got a back up camera.

2011 CRV SE - 175 Miles - Power Steering Out

faye7, 03/08/2011

15 of 22 people found this review helpful

I cannot describe my disappointment. At 175 miles, the Power Steering went out and car is at the dealer waiting for parts. It has other noises yet to be determined, excluding wind noise. I expect more from a new car and especially from Honda. This is unacceptable and a reflection of Honda's Quality Control Department. I had no problems with my 2003 CRV so I purchased another one solely for the reliability even though I liked another car better. It certainly has failed my reliability expectation. This 2011 CRV can not compare to the 2003 CRV build quality/reliability. Honda has issues and I have lost confidence. I seriously regret buying this 2011 CRV and wish I had kept my 2003 CRV.

I purchased this vehicle in the past week after doing about a month of researching different vehicles online and visiting the dealership for test drives. As I am a college student I was not able to purchase the EX-L model but I am more than happy with the LX model I purchased.I drove pick up trucks all my life(F150/Ranger/Tacoma) so I needed a SUV that could pull a trailor but also wasn't bad on gas as my commute is going to be far.I test drove the new CX5,Rav4,Rogue, etc and found these to be the strong points on the Honda;smooth/quiet ride, most power(for the 4 cylinder),interior build quality and there sync system is amazing.I'm able to like/dislike Pandora songs from my steering wheel.

Awesome engineering. easy to do small repairs on (air filters, etc.) I added foglights, it was easy, engineering is ergonomically amazing. poor performance, poor gas mileage, average or less than average stereo w/7 speakers. Everything else, though, is great. Great for the money. Bought cerfified used, was like brand new, leather seats are great, still is...just a great, reliable vehicle for the money.

Replaced a 2011 Escape (piece of junk) with this top of the line CR-V a month ago. I have never gretted that move. The Ford was a disaster, and I dumped it after only 9 months. The CR-V is a solid, well built, comfortable vehicle, and the gas mileage is great. The Escape got 18-22. The CR-V gets 26-31. When looking for a replacement for the Escape, I considered the RAV-4, the Subaru Outback, and the CR_V. I disqualified the Outback immediately because the seat was so uncomfortable for me. The RAV-4 had a good seat, but the build was less than stellar and it drove live a truck. The CR-V was the best built of the three, and drives like a dream. I love it.

2011 Honda CRV tire problem

The Honda CRV is a good car until I hit almost 20.000 miles and had to get new tires because it would not pass NY inspection. Called Honda and got a run around and they would not admit that 20K is very poor tire life. I had to replace the tires before I got to 20K and will never buy another Honda Product,. The dealer in Binghamton NY is just as lame as Honda USA and they completely lost my trust.

I bought a 2011 CRV because we I wanted a quality vehicle before I retired. I wanted something that should last a long time with minimal maintenance. Before I retired, I want to purchase a vehicle of good quality and low maintenance. This is definitely not what I thought I had purchased. I had to replace the tires at 17,000 miles, Honda puts on junk tires just to get them off the lot. Putting on good tires on was $700 and now at 24,500 miles the airbag light stays on and I am told for $650 they can repair it. ( I also had a 2008 Accord that required new rear tires and brakes at 30,000 miles.) If I have another repair (other than normal wear and tear, brakes and etc.) the car will be going down the road. Honda is definitely not the quality vehicle that everyone seems to think they think.

a perfect fit finish and no problems with this suv are impressive. one oil change, wash and drive !! gas mpg knocking around this winter 21.5 down from 23 in the summer. did a 200 mile trip in feb. half highway 69 - 70 mph and half country roads 45- 55 mpg and it returned a true 28.4, not bad for an all wheel drive vehicle. the comfort and ride and versatility of this makes it a great reliable suv that has more room than some larger ones.

I bought a 2011 honda CRV new. I thought i bought a great car. I was totally wrong, what i bought was a generic car. Horrible road noise, don't use the air and try to pull a hill, your lucky if you get up to 40 mph. tires need replaced after 14,500 miles. Moon Twp Honda basically said " You drove the car" . No kidding i didnt buy it to park in the garage. They offered me 2 tires, i said but there are 4 tires on the car. Too bad per Honda. The management at this dealer ship is awful. Do not buy this vehicle you definately will be sorry, if you do do not but at Moon Twp, Pa Honda, very ignorant management.

Really Good Used Car!

2011 Honda CR-V SE 4dr SUV AWD (2.4L 4cyl 5A)
2 of 2 people found this review helpful

My parents bought the SE model brand new in 2011 and I must say, what a choice they made! It has been extremely reliable and has gone from point A to point B thousands of times with no fuss. The SE model came with rear privacy glass, alloy wheels, a 6-disc CD changer, and steering-wheel-mounted audio controls in addition to the LX standard features. The exterior of the car is nothing special, but not ugly. I especially like the angle of the front bumper, as it curves upward toward the grille and not perpendicular to the ground, decreasing the chance of scraping. The interior is roomy with a large, functional cargo area. The back seat, combined with the flat floor and sliding and reclining seats, can allow for an unexpectedly more comfortable ride. Now to the driver's point of view. The seating position is pleasant and it is very easy for people of all ages to get in and out with ease. The visibility is good and blind spots are minimal. Everything is within reach and easy to use. The AC and heat still work well, and the radio actually sounds good, even though it is not a "premium" audio system. When driving, there are a couple of downsides, but they shouldn't stop you from buying this car. In terms of acceleration, it is good in town but can struggle at times when you are trying to pass on the highway. It takes a while for the car to downshift and it overall could lead to a sluggish feel. It can also get a little noisy at higher speeds, as road noise is definitely noticeable when compared to a new vehicle. Now to the positives about driving this car. The steering feel and weight is very nice and allows for more confidence going around curves. The 2.4L engine also sounds pretty good, especially compared to everyone else's generic, buzzy 4-cylinder engines. The fuel economy for this vehicle is not terrible, but it could be better. In the city, it has averaged anywhere between 19-22 mpg and 23-25 mpg on the highway. It does have the added weight of AWD and it could also be low due to driving habits, but I'm not too worried about it. Regarding maintenance, we've had the battery changed a couple of times, along with tires, brakes, wipers, fluids, oil, and other routine tasks. Nothing serious went wrong with the vehicle, as this car has had tremendous reliability. Overall, I really love this car. My parents bought a 2022 RAV4 and now I am driving the 2011 CR-V for college. I like the way it drives and it is super practical and reliable. DEFINITELY a great choice if looking for a used small SUV. I would definitely get it over the 3rd generation RAV4 (2006-2012). If you can get past the slightly noisy cabin and below-average acceleration, then this car will not disappoint. UPDATE: Another flaw that I forgot to mention is that the turning radius is not great with this car, so plan ahead before buying this!

Honda has some great lease deals (probably because of the low depreciation). The CRV has a car-like ride, tons of leg and head room and very comfortable seats. It is well designed and very flexible. It has an amazing turn radius and no major blindspots. The gas mileage is a little less desirable and the road noise is rather noticeable as is the idle. My biggest pet peeve is the lack of features standard in most other vehicles' base models. To get bluetooth and iPod connections you have to get the EX-L with navigation, meaning an extra $3000. We got the SE for the larger, safer tire package, but the dealer stressed the upgrade to a 6 CD disc changer. Is this 1992?

Car has serious engine problems. Idle is very rough and you can feel vibrations transferring to the steering wheel. Problem occurs when the engine is fully warmed up and idle drops to 700 rpm. There is an unstable operating point which causes engine to resonate. I tested 3 different vehicles and all of them have this issue. This is clearly a design flaw and Honda refuses to acknowledge existence of the problem. Every time you stop at the light, you can feel vibrations like you sitting in an old American car.

This is a grocery getter, take your child to school, take family to and from the airport. When I read articles of drivers complaining, it's not fast enough, the MPG is too low, the interior is not fancy. What did you expect, it's a modern day station wagon. So the morons at HONDA said, give the people want they want. A 1.5L engine with a turbo and an intercooler. Will call it EARTH DREAMS. LOL, the guys in the service dept. call that engine NIGHTMARES!!! So HONDA loses another buyer to TOYOTA. I will miss the CR-V, K24Z engine I still love you! W.N.P.

I have a Honda Crv SE with 5000 miles and only 5 months old. While driving a few days ago 2 engines bolts broke. Luckily I was not killed. The Go Honda dealer in Westminster , CO said it could be fixed and he cannot let me break the lease because he would loose money and he would go out of business if everybody could just return cars. My car is not a lemon. I would have to have 5 similar occurrences, The managers name is Eric. I am supposed to drive this car with my 2 grandchildren, no way in hell. The staff at the dealership are rude, insensitive to say the least, including the overall manager Matt Hall. Honda needs to recall this model before someone is killed.

This is the worst car I've ever owned. I never thought in a million years that I'd have to put a new engine in a HONDA, due to a problem they WON'T FIX or RECALL. Getting ready to put another one in the same car for a 2nd time. This is about the excessive oil consumption they refuse to fix. This car has left me stranded more than any 90's car I've owned. Guess they don't make them like they used to. Do yourself a favor & get literally any other car.

Montana 2011 CR-V

Great vehicle for road trips. Very comfortable. Handling is not as tight as I would like it to be. Just OK. Otherwise, it is the second most favorite car I have ever owned. First was a 1963 Austin-Healey I owned when I was 19. It is now about a year since I wrote the above review and the CR-V is still the second most favorite car I have ever owned. But, the older I get (74) the greater the distance grows between the second place CR-V and a 19-year old's beautiful red 1963 Austin-Healey........55 years ago! I guess it is time to be honest and realistic. My 2011 Honda CR-V is the most reliable and practical vehicle I have ever owned. But, reliability and practicality aside, nothing will ever replace the 1963 Austin-Healey I bought when I was nineteen as my all-time favorite driving experience, by far.

This vehicle had absolutely no acceleration. I wouldn't care if I was 80 but being in my 40's and driving rush hour traffic it was horrible. There is a glitch in the computer system when slowing down using the brakes there's a long hesitation before being able to accelerate again. Very scaring when all of a sudden you need to speed up to get out of the way. The engine cylinders blew on me with less than 60,000 miles and yes I did take it in regular for maintenance. Lost money trying to get rid of this CR-V. Will never buy a Honda again!!!!

I would encourage all to check the bottom seal area of the doors for rust. Three weeks ago while while wiping down after a wash I noticed rust on the inside bottom of the back right passenger door. It freaked me out !! HOW ??? Took it the dealer ... it will get repaired next week under warranty (and it should). My car was purchased New Years Eve, 2010. Not sure if I will be keeping it.

Bought the car about 2 months ago. This is probably the best & safest choice in this class and price range. As an owner of a large European sedan I must admit I grew to appreciate this car over the last two months. Got it mostly for the price point & value but would highly recommend it to anyone, who is looking at this kind of car. Nothing really stands out, but the car, as the package, presents the best buy, from my opinion. (roomy interior, nice exterior, smooth ride, good breaks, excellent visibility, honda quality, 4WD for winter driving, good crash scores, great value, decent MPH) What's not to like?. While it is NOT a luxury car by any means, it is a great "commuting vehicle".

Standard dislikes; noisy, Continental tires are probably the worst tires I have ever had , meager interior convenience-cup holders, storage. A rumbling sound in suspension/wheels, more like a low roar.Got the Glacier Blue and wish I had chosen anothr color because it is so common. In our climate Honda has trouble with brake corrosion regardless of the model..

Before I buy CRV, I read some of negative review about this car. I had similar feeling while I test drive. 1. Not able to pick up to 60 MPH 2. Engine wind noise But after I compare some other cars, I am glad I bought the car. I found it is not bad when you pick up. And most small car has similar wind issue. For the price, value of the and build in features, I think this is a nice car to own.

We purchased our 2011 CR-V SE brand new and so far we have been very happy about it. The car is just very comfortable for both driver and passengers but got enough power when you need it. The key here is super reliable and roomy (flat floor for 2nd row) and it's just so versatile. My daughter is going to college soon and I'm planning to give this one to her so that I can buy another CR-V. Good job Honda for doing such an amazing job for the engineering of this car. By the way, the SE trim is the best! Also buy the 2WD instead of AWD (unless you drive under snow condition a lot), as 2WD will save you $$$ for maintenance!! Also brown color looks the best!!

Bought our first CR-V mid November. It's a great crossover. Love the interior, exterior, everything! We've had 4 previous Hondas, a Civic and 3 Accords and had no problems with any of them. We have great confidence in Honda. We needed the cargo space to haul things and it wasn't a disappointment to see how much room the CR-V has.

I purchased this vehicle in 2011 and per the reviews, city mileage is 21 and 28 on the highways. The actual mileage in my experience is 18 to 18.5 in the city and 21 to 22 highway. I am extremely disappointed and this is my may concern.. all maintenance is up to date.

SEATS & CARGO Are Disappointing

Leather seats here are a joke- look and feel like vinyl, v. lo quality; "leatherette" maybe? And sides and back of seats are clearly vinyl, leather is seating area only- cheaply done. Heated seats work poorly, v. disappointing. Leather and heat in my old BMW 325 seats are far superior- - Honda blew it here, and the "leather"/heated seats are clearly not worth the extra cost for upgrade. Cargo: rear seats do not fold forward far enuff; they leave 6" of dead space between front and back seat area- - my skinny road bike does not fit well in here. Would be nice if rear seats could be removed & reinserted easily.

I recently bought a 2011 CR-V SE AWD. For family and economical reasons, it seem to fit the bill and better than it's competition. Beware of what want though. Some items you might want are only available in the top of the line model - EX/EX-L. Very disappointing that (although easier for consumers in a simplified menu), the trim packages are inflexible. You can only get bluetooth with Navigation, and Navigation is only available on the EX-L model. You don't even get the storage shelf in the back with LX/SE models. It definitely is down on power. But that is a little unfair as I'm coming from a 2007 S2000. At least my SE has 6-cds, and can play MP3s.

Not a bad vehicle but seats are very firm and uncomfortable for long drives. No real creature comforts or nooks and crannies for your stuff. Nice as a plain Jane grocery getter but not a family car or executive sedan. Brakes dust and are questionable quality after 500 miles. MPG is 25.5 with mostly hwy driving at 75 mph

I recently purchased a 2011 crv with 65000 miles . After couple of months when ever I drive the car in the morning . The would have a hard shift specially between 1-2 and 2-3 gear and after driving for like 20-30 minutes it would kind of rescue ( I mean do don’t feel the shift much ) . It’s an automatic gear .

Traded in a Chevy Traverse - too much vehicle and $$ at the gas pump. City, highway and combined driving haven't disappointed - just returned from a trip traveling over 1200 miles. This is a smaller vehicle than I've owned in the past, with some great features and performance you'd expect with a 4-cylinder. It is extremely comfortable to drive - I am 6'3". Plenty of room for luggage too. Cabin noise is average on smoothly paved roads, and below average on rougher surfaces. Overall, we're extremely pleased with our purchase and would recommend this vehicle to someone(s) in the market for a small family vehicle.

I purchased my CRV 10 days ago and I am very happy. The body style, handling in snow and interior design are all top notch. The only things that I would change are: lack of storage space, inexpensive fabric used for seats and small arm rests. This is my third Honda in the last 10 years and I will remain a loyal customer.

I have been driving about 3 months and 6000KMs, take me about a month to get used to this little SUV. Overall I rate this car "OK" level. Only thing I feel not so good is the acceleration. A little bit slow to speed up from a complete stop. Also only when run at about 75-80 KM/Hour, I can feel some kind of vabriation, which is wired, normally should be very smooth at this speed. My small car 2011 Nissan Sentra, much more quieter than this SUV at any speed. Also my gas mileage: use 87 regular gas, get about 9.2L/100KMs. With 89 gas, get about 8.2L/100KMs. 75% on contryside road, 25% cuty driving. So I feel put 89 gas is a win for the money and car. saving about 50 cents per 100 KMs.

Dependable but a great ride but road noise is aggravating and lack of hands free option for a mobile phone is a bummer.

I bought my 2011 CRV SE with 17k miles on it in back in 2013. It has so far exceeded all of my expectations. Roomy, comfortable, fuel efficient and reliable, plus, you can carry things in it! Take care of your car and it will take care of you. UPDATE: Absolutely love my CRV. Now has 110k miles and is still the Best Car I've Ever Owned.
