Si Good Buy
The car is great I bought the car used with 7000 miles on it. I average about 23-27 MPG in town and 30-35 freeway but on one trip was averaging 40 mpg. I have had only one complaint and that is I got the Si which came with Michelin Pilot MXMA tires great tires but the soft rubber I had to replace within 20k miles not a big deal since they are a strictly sport tire not made for snow or rainy conditions. So I got a all season sport tire and no problems. I would definitely recommend this car as only maintenance I have done is oil changes and I've had no problems.
Who needs a "3" series?
I've driven quite a few sports sedans (BMW, Subare WRX, Acura, etc), but there is nothing that compares to the Civic Si. This car is a "Pocket Rocket" that revs like a 65 Mustang. It grabs the road like it has claws. Superb handling aided by the leather wrapped telescoping steering wheel. Super low center of gravity and road grip makes it feel like you'll be able to handle any turn at any speed. The seats have a wrap around quality that simulate a race car. Black interior with bright red intrument panel is striking. Six speed manual trans is a dream, and tremendously entertaining. The body styling will turn heads. The Si is quick, fun, well built and way cool!
great car
this car is a great buy. definitely recommend this car for anyone looking for performance and drivability. by far one of the most fun cars i have ever driven
Factory Street Racer
Until I started researching the new Si, I never thought that Honda Civic would be my dream car! Bought my new rocket on 12/23/05. One short test drive was all it took to fall in love with Si. Sitting in the cockpit you feel like you're in a high tech video racing game with all the digital gauges, shift light, and ambient red lighting. Build quality inside and out is excellent giving the car a feeling more like that of a $30K car rather than $20K. You can hear and feel high-performance as soon as you turn the key. There's plenty of power at low RPMs for town driving but get up around 6,000 RPM and Si hits a new level of excitement!!! It has the growl of a rabid beast and flies!!! Availability of the new Si is scarce... production is only 15,000 for the first year. I was very lucky but these are very hard to find, especially without a dealer mark-up. Of course the low production means that this will be a car of iconic and collectable worth. The car itself is near perfection.
Buy it... or die tryin'
Most bang for the buck on the road. A really fun ride. The first car I ever just wanted to take for a ride for no good reason. Great acceleration and handling. Quick, responsive and a real eye-catcher. The habenero red pearl looks terrific.
New Si
Quieter than 04 Civic, George Jetson styling. BMW3 performance. Big bang for the buck, which makes it even more fun to drive.
Honda civic Si
I love my Si. This would have to be the best Civic built to date. Honda has done a great job with the new design and I am looking forward to see what they have in the line up next!
06 Si
Purchased car new in feb 06. Have 75K on it now (160 mi a day 2 work) Only problem has was rear wheel bearing dealership replaced for free. Replaced factory system and upgraded to a 15 in sub. Only problem is i've had to replace the spoiler twice since the sub beats and breaks the spiler off the deck lid and eventually falls apart. Seriously. Car does have problem with 3rd gear as a lot have mentioned. As far as performance not much can top for this price especially the style and power combined. Added K&N fuel injection performance kit and get 30mpg city 37mpg hwy. Happy with car which was designed better for systems but guess I'll shave those holes and have no spoiler. Otherwise great buy!
2006 Honda Si
Test drove car on a whim last week and purchased one on Friday! What a hoot. Much more fun to drive than my 2000 Corvette w/ 6 speed. I let several friends (who own sports cars) drive the car this weekend and they were very impressed with the the total package. Their guess on price....25 to 27K. Handling limits are way beyond my capability. The car handles like it's on a rope with summer tires being very sticky. Car is comfortable while cruising, handles bumps really well and will easily exceed any speed limit without being noticed by the driver.
"Si"
I purchased my 2006 "Si" 1/07/2006. It is the crystal "gray" color which to me looks more of a "green" color. Off the lot we drove it over 600 miles (very conservatively) What a fighter Jet!
Good deal
Had an 02 RSX-S. This has improved engine and tranny refinement. Shift action is almost perfect (pops out of 3rd on very rare occasions). I have grown to like the dash. Sound system is really nice for stock and in this class - good enough bass I haven't bothered installing a sub. Seats are grippy. Limited slip works well enough, neutral handling for a fwd but still some understeer. Tossable. Well placed storage.
Best Fun Available
Went to try out a new Civic coupe, but also drove the Si. Couldn't leave dealership without it. It's black and has all ground effects spoilers, hence draws lots of attention and comments. I'm 6'1" 240# and it fits better than any car I've had before. I've taken 3 passengers in it on over-night trips and no complaints yet. It begs to be driven hard and fast. I'm constantly trying to find new 2 lane roads to explore. I've more confidence in it's handling than in any other car I've tried. I really like it's styling, inside & out. It's now my favorite toy and I spend a lot of time in it. The best money I ever spent. I'd really like to have another one set up just for racing.
06 Civic Si
This has to be my favorite car to drive. It's Very comfortable, gets good gas mileage, let alone the LSD equipped 6 speed mated to the 2 liter I-Vtec engine... What more could you ask for?
All around, excellent car
Bought new in December, and have over 22 000 kms on it now and have no real big issues with it. This is a super easy 6 speed to drive and turns and stops on a dime. It's also a very safe car with front and side airbags, 6 all together I think. It's pretty awesome, a blast to drive and sure gets a lot of looks. I have the Habanero red pearl Si.
Lucky to find one
This car is very impressive. The engine is nothing short of amazing. The salesman kept my name from a question about the Si back in Oct. 05. In test driving the first thing that impressed me the the exhaust note during acceleration (very impressive) I don't understand the low torque rating because car seems much faster than 6.7 and is pulling hard.
i love it
i never had a car run so good like this one and i love to race it cuz the power is great and everybody gives me good feedback on the car
Real n...ice but
Having had over 20 Hondas personally, and a 15 career in the auto business w/Honda/Acura dealers only, I was wicked excited about the new Si. I had a 2004 Accord EX coupe, 4 banger w/5speed..decent! Well, here was a Honda that was a factory hot rod and IT IS! Just one little problem... not all the time, but when I'm stressed the ride is too harsh on the bumpy New England roads!!
Fun Car
The first year I had it, I drove it over 23,000 miles. It is fun to drive, but the long trips aren't the most comfortable for a 6' guy. Fuel economy is around 31 mpg on the interstate and 25 mpg around town. I keep it well maintained. That might be the reason for such mileage. It has plenty of power and response. It does seem to be a little heavy coming around the corners, but it will hold the whole way. The only complaint I have, is the rattle in the rear speaker deck from the sub and speakers. My personal opinion is, get the lip kit. It makes it look so much better and aggressive.
Si Fun in the So Cal Sun
Being an owner of a BMW, the feel and performance is similar for a car that is not in the same league. In two weeks, I have driven 2000 miles just because. Once you sit in & start the engine, the feeling is just unexplainable. The deep sound of the engine, the snugness of the seats, and the interior with a look like a cockpit just adds to the experience. I test drove TC, GTI, & Jetta but did not like. Originally I was looking at getting the EX and saw an SI in the lot, the salesman warned me that once I drive the SI, forget about the EX. The way the car takes on curves, accelerates and shifts are really outstanding. Glad to see that Honda did bring more back to the Civic line.
First Honda
Had the car 3 months. Took over a month, and 3 service visits, to finally fix driver's interior door pull handle. The fix ultimately required replacement of entire interior door panel. One of the slides for controlling air conditioning air direction on the dash came apart. Thank goodness I found it before it fell down into the air duct. There was an annoying rattle from the passenger door area. Found it to be the plastic fixture/clip which holds the visor in place. I fixed the rattle. Digital clock on the radio picks up 2-3 minutes per month. I update it about every 3 weeks. Was told me it would require replacing the entire clock/CD module. I don't want to do that, so I will live with it.
Great Car for the Money
Love this car, cannot beat the features, styling and fun for the money. Love the sound of the rev happy engine, can't seem to keep it below 4-5k rpms!
This car is a precious gem.
Would not sell this car for $50,000. An engineering marvel, the best handling car I have ever driven. Cars like these come along every 25 yrs. Everyting is optimum, power, power distribution, responsive steering, braking, gear ratios. It goes from angel to the beast itself in no time.
More than worth the money
I bought this car with only 12 miles on it from the dealer brand new. I commute 52 miles a day to work, plus recreational driving. With over 29,000 miles on it so far, I've had no major issues and love it. It works great for commuting with the ability to keep the engine quiet, but vtech is ready to kick in when you want it. The car's ability to accelerate so fast also comes in handy when you're getting on the highway in a tight spot. I plan on keeping this car for years to come, turning it into a show car eventually. I have the 18" upgrade rims and love them, as well as low profile tires and an aftermarket exhaust that makes it sound mean.
I love my Si
The new civic Si is a fun great car. From its aerodynamics, to its power, Honda has really taken the civic to a whole new level. I recommend this car to everyone.
I love this car
This is the most competent car I have ever owned. It gets me to and from work without complaint, will drop an M3 like a bad habit on a twisty road, averages 27 mpg, screams like a porn star and looks great doing it. You simply cannot upset this little rocket's composure when the turns come close and fast. Just don't smoke the brakes.
The perfect car
If you like to drive, this is the car for you. Amazing handling, a list of standard features as long as your arm combined with good gas mileage and Honda reliablity. And oh yah, if you keep the rev's up it goes like a bat out of hell. I simply cannot believe the value this car represents. We bought one sight unseen, convinced by the reviews we were reading online that it would be a fun car to own, but nervous about it's looks. Turns out the car looks way better in person than in photos. We got the front, rear, and side spoiler package. Looks very cool. Even if you think it's the ugliest car on the planet, I suggest you take it for a test drive. (If you can find one to drive.) Zooooom
2006 Honda Civic Si
I have 6500mi on the car now. Most people regret new car purchases but not with this car. I upgraded from an 02 Honda Civic Ex w/ 40,000mi. If you are serious about this car and you find one thats not already sold, go for it. You will not be disappointed
Mid-Life Crisis Civic Si
Purchased in April 2006. Drove it as a daily commuter until it was totaled in mid-July 2006. An awesome entry level sports coupe. Fun to drive in early morning light traffic (3:30 AM) but not during the San Fracisco Bay Area rush hour traffic (4PM~7PM). Post crash hindsight: Not a very practical daily commuter car being unable to take advantage of its capabilities in stop & go traffic. In other words, it becomes just like any other car on the road in heavy bumper- to-bumper traffic - something to keep in mind when you get caught up in the "emotional" process of buying a car. Replacement car is a '07 Scion tC, because it is a more practical choice for a daily commuter.
awesome
the spaceship is an awesome experience. from time you turn the key this car does nothing but respond to your every whim. whether it is accelerating, passing, shifting, manuvering, or handling you feel in total control of your every move. kudos to honda & its formula one racing team. your engineers can take a graceful bow...awesome.
Shes a keeper
Just love it, Honda worked up a real Si this time. Get in the gas and just when you think the power is dropping off the backside of the RPM curve the iVTEC opens up and the real fun begins. I sometime forget the car has a 350watt sound system because I love to hear the little motor that could wake up at 6grand and let you know its the little motor that will. I have had a lot of front wheel drive cars and none of them come close to what this car will do, turn the wheel tight and hit the gas NO wheel spin just some Gs and bang your off in a new direction. It truly is the baddest car you can get for the money. Plus its a Honda.
2006 Si
I purchased the 2006 Honda Si after a great deal of research and many vehicle test drives. As a matter of fact, I test drove it, then called the dealer two hours later and told him I wanted it. After owning the car for a day, a rattle developed in the back. I began searching for the cause and determined that the passenger side rear seat was not latched - problem solved. When cruising, the car is very quiet, but accelerate up through the gears and the tuned exhaust sings as the engine tachs up. Cornering is a dream in this car with virtually no body roll, and the deep buckets really hold you in place.
Somewhat disappointed
I bought this car on a whim, remembering my CRX Si from years ago. I hoped it could match the fun-factor that car had. Instead, this model feels a little nose heavy, and Honda has taken the "soul" out of the Si line. It has never left me straded, but there are little things here and there that i have had to visit the dealer for. It scoots ok when you ring it out, but is cumbersome in city driving due to its lack of torque. I would be happier if they got the weight down a little and increased low end torque so i am not revving to 4k rpms just to get up to speed. overall, a decently quick mode of transportation, but there are better choices out there.
Worth the wait
The new Civic Si is a practical high performance car. It has 197 h.p. and also gets 32 m.p.g. It is priced under $20,000 and is very well equipped, including sunroof, 350 watt sound system and special Si interior features. After my 1996 Civic the new Si seems like a space ship with the digital speedometer placed like a heads-up display and the steep windshield ahead. The car is very quiet and the 2 liter V-tec engine is as smooth as butter. The drive-by-wire throttle is super responsive and the performance is excellent through all six gears. The electric power steering has a great road feel to it, and has a quick ratio for right-now response. Great job Honda!
Great Car
What a great car. Plenty of pickup - super gas mileage. I have 1700 miles and have averaged 49.5 so far. I am really happy with my choice. I have had a lot of cars including mercedes, jaguar, porsche, volvo, bmw etc. I feel really good about driving this as it is the best car for our environment. Feels great to do good!
2006 Si, review after 1,500 miles
Downside: Firm ride for those not use to sports suspension. Back seats, though roomy enough for anyone under 6'is not made for getting in and out of often. Upside: Everything else: Handling, speed, traction, stereo, size (I am 5'11, 160lbs). Seats fit perfectly, engine sounds great and is easy to rev up to get going. Mileage checked over 3 tanks hovers around 29mpg. Overall a quality little car for the money. Double Upside: iVTEC will scream when revs hit 6K+ (wait till broken in!!)
2006 Civic Si - Impressed
Best car I have ever owned let alone driven. Interior style, look and quality is that of a $35K car. 6 speed shifts like butter, clutch is perfect. Car launches like a rocket and when you hit 6,000 RPM's hold on tight because it will scream right up to 8,000 in every gear. Raced some 2006 3.5 Liter Altimas from rolling at 40 and I could barely see them in my rear view mirror at 110 mph. Honda has built a dream.
Pleasantly surprised!
When my daughter told me she wanted this car for her 16th birthday, I thought "surely you can do better than a Civic". My opinion of the previous Civics was not very high. I researched it and was impressed with what I found, so I was game. Then I test drove it! We bought it that night! I love, love, love this car! It handles well, is easy to drive, has power when you want/need it, it feels good and sounds good! It has standard features you would normally find in a luxury car...radio controls at your fingertips, moon roof, premium sound. I just wish we would have ordered one with the navigation system. It's compactness sometimes makes it hard to "fold" into/out of this car!
2006 CIVIC SI
I have owned many cars, but I can't remember any of them being this much fun to drive. I would recommend this car to anyone that actually likes/loves to drive.
Pleased With Purchase
I took a short test drive and was amazed at the great sound in gears 1-5 (C&D calls it "pseudo Ferrari"). You don't have to rev it high to get that great sound either. Gear 6 is a true overdrive, so that the car quiets right down on the Interstate. This car is very sporty and fun to drive, while having most features of a luxury car. Add-in Honda quality and resale value, and what's not to like?
beautiful full controlling style car #1
Hits corners better than the older 88- 91 civic and looks better than any car on the road right noW!
Traded in my TSX for it!
I'm pretty much a Honda person, I've owned the previous generation Si & owned a 05'tsx w/ navi before trading it in on the new si. Hands down it is a COMPLETE car, handles like a dream, pulls hard thru all the gears and ergonomics are phenominal!! ONLY bad part was trying to obtain one right now dealers know the demand is high so there are alot marking them up. I got mine at MSRP after being shafted by a local dealer. However, there is NOTHING else that can compare for this money. Keep in mind i traded in a 30k TSX with navigation for this Honda Civic Si... if that doesn't tell you something I dunno what will ENJOY!
A regretful buy
I bought this car thinking how great it would be to have a good commuter that was also sporty. I figured I would grow to like the interior/exterior. I could not be more wrong. I plain out despise the power delivery. Normal driving I almost never see vtec, so it's just like driving around a civic ex for 90% of the time. The handling is great, but how often do I REALLY need to push it to 9/10s? After reading the reviews of the si vs gti more, I finally get it. The gti is a much better daily car for what it's meant for. Every magazine did track test, things almost no drive is really going to see. Both cars are just as fast on the street, except I like power down low over vtec.
2006 Honda Civic SI
Bought the 2006 SI on Dec 10/05, and can say it has great value for $$, great handling, great power and good interior quality; would suggest it to anyone to buy.
Honda Civic Si 2006
I purchased my 2006 Honda Civic Si on 12/23/2005. I was going to purchase an S2000, however, the Si is very comparable in performance, but about $15,000 less. Very fun to drive! Very comfortable! Great visibility! Great design of interior with many storage compartments! Stereo is superb! Handles as well as much more expensive sports cars at a fraction of the cost! Love it!
Amazing honda civic si
I love how it feels around turns, it has amazing handling and comfort for a sporty little car
New Honda Civic Si
A lot of fun to drive - she moves quick in traffic.
The economical pocket rocket
The value and performance of the Si are 2nd to none. Handing is perhaps best of any front-wheel drive car due to perfectly-tuned suspension and limited-slip differential. I get 34 MPG highway with 200 hp! Of course, this drops if you drive in the 6K-8K RPM VTEC mode, but I still get 28-30 MPG in mixed driving. Seats are nice, with good side bolstering for cornering, and comes with 8 airbags, a killer 350 watt, 7 speaker system with a sub. I cross shopped the VW GTI, but I know that car will lose its value must faster than a Honda and everything will go wrong.
Love my Si
What a fun car to drive! I thought the 2-tier dash would be a turn-off but either I've gotten used to it or Honda really knew what they were doing (probably the latter). Fit and finish are what you would expect from Honda. I am concerned with how my seats will hold up in the long run. They look great now, but what about in another 20,000 miles? I love listening to this engine as I run it up to 8000 rpm out in the country. What a thrill! Although you may have trouble getting your hands on one quickly, it is worth the wait. I couldn't even test drive one at the dealership--had to drive my buddy's si. A great way to celebrate your 45th birthday. One of my all-time favorite cars
Sporty car for a great price!
I bought the car in January after putting 255K miles on a previous civic. The styling on this car is great, as is the stereo system, but what really makes this car stand out - and is likely to generate some extra income for the state police - is its insatiable desire to go fast. It nearly begs to be driven faster through a tight turn, and as you hit 6500 rpm it will nearly give you whiplash and you'll have to already be thinking about shifting into the next higher gear to make it before it redlines at 8000 rpm. It's a great car!
Stealth fighter
I bought my black si after my white 96 aAccord sedan was stolen and totaled (I love ya RIP). The car looks like a spaceship inside and out. The interior layout is real cool and has lots of convenience and comfort features. The seats really hug you. The mp3 sound system with sub is a nice touch. The car has good acceleration & quick handling. The engine sounds great. Buy driving gloves & get the windows tinted. The shifter burns your hand when hot & freezes it when cold. I get the same rattles as other folks but its not that bad. It's due to the stiff suspension. What do you expect? The interior is a lil bit delicate but I think folks trip out b/c black makes scuffs more noticable.
