Haunted Honda
First, Shame on me for not doing a thorough check out before buying this dud. Instead i trusted the Honda reputation, superficial appearance, "low miles' and the person selling. (Have had 2 other Civics, at different times, Hatchback models. Hence reputation trust.) Also wanted a manual trans which this had. This is a coupe EX model w a 1.7L engine Initially it was the check engine light. Different individuals w diagnostic testers said it was something w exhaust sensors and catalyst. So put in a catalyst product and premium fuel. Light went out for a short time. Didn't seem to affect performance. Next was over heating: 1. Replaced water pump; 2. Replaced thermostat; 3. Flushed radiator; 4. Put in CRC nano particle fluid for cracked block/head gasket. No solutions more than very temporary. No indicators like fluid on ground; water in oil; or white/bluish exhaust. Third was sometimes failure to re-start subsequent to arrival at a destination. Replaced battery since existing one wouldn't crank engine after a week. No solution to restart issue. Was suggested, since apparently getting no fuel, the fuel pump had overheated. (Indeed, the manual says fuel pump cooled by gas in tank. So never let tank get below 1/4 level.) Have bought new, quality, fuel pump. Not installed, since i've seen some comments about a 'main relay'. (Not clear to me if this is a fuel system relay. Or a more encompassing relay.) Am tempted to sell to someone else. Let them try to sus out what and why. This Civic is an EX model, manual trans
Honda Civic VP
Good economical car. I bought the 2-door, VP package with side air bags and manual transmission. I do not see too many manual transmissions this close to NYC. I on the tall side but not too tall, 6'-1" and I found that the 2006 model had a reduced head room and a more radical sloping windshield. My 2005 model has a higher head room and the windshield does not slope as much, letting me get into the car easier. I never liked motorized windows or electric locks, found them to be trouble waiting to happen. I bought the car to use for a long time, I hate throwing things away.

New Car & Surprises Not Always Good
Purchased this new car w/75 miles on it from dealer. Nice looking exterior, well appointed & roomy interior. Great car for city & all flatland driving. However, it does lack necessary torque/power/responsiveness to effectively & safely climb hills, pass, & freeway merge when necessary without having at least 3/4ths of a mile or more clear of traffic to get up to speed (0 to 60mph in not seconds, but 3 to 5 minutes! Amazingly poor & unsafe performance!
Very reliable but could use more power
Ok 6000 miles later here is my take on this coming from a Celica and a Civic Si. I definitely had to get use to less pep for starters the interior buid is ok but still missing something (dash is a little too dull + very mass production feel). Gas mileage is decent 30 miles per gallon. Rear spolier option for around $500 adds some appeal. Ok enough about the bad... The good is resale value, reliability, low APR financing, value priced and the fact that you don't have to choose from a billion options. Like with the Toyota where every thing on the car is extra. Honda does a great job by grouping their upgrades in packages - DX, LX, and EX. Overall a good buy but could be better
2005 Honda Civic LX-Special Edition
Fun to drive, pick up is really good, good on gas, nice stereo inside, nice looking, and good in every ways.
