Used 2000 Honda Civic Sedan Consumer Reviews
Great
The car is very nice overall. It could use some more power sometimes when trying to accelerate. Still in good shape.
Civic Made Better With Valve Adjustment
Good car made great by a recent (24000 mile) valve adjustment.
A really wonderful car
I bought this car for Honda's well- known reliability, the 4-door practicality, and the gas mileage. And so far, it has more than lived up to all of my expectations. I really love this car. I have the 5-speed trans, and I average about 29 mpg in the city (even with a little bit of a lead foot). The car has just turned over 38000 miles, and the only squeak on the whole car is in the rear-suspension when I back out of my driveway. It's so much better than any other american- made car I have owned. I will forever recommend Honda/Toyota/Nissan cars to anybody.
Not Bad For End Of Its Generation
Bought this car used (with only 27k on it!). Driver's seat tends to get a little uncomfortable on long drives, starting out isn't exactly up to par (stalls occasionally), high end acceleration isn't the greatest (not sure if that's factory tuning or whether the previous owner didn't know his stuff). However, these are all minor annoyances. The car gets decent gas mileage (not as great as my Neon got, for sure, but it's good enough), and it's a blast once you get it out on the open road. Can take hills without complaining too much, and the ABS is a God-send.
Expensive for its class, still a value
Excellent ride for a car this size, quite supple yet controlled. Power steering a bit overboosted. Engine doesn't have much grunt down low but gets with the program over 3000 rpm. Engine is also quite smooth and car gets excellent gas mileage. No mechanical difficulties to date, though I do hear a noise when shiftin when cold (I'm going to get this checked out). Other cars in this class may be cheaper, but this one is well-executed and retains value so it's still a great choice.
