Love this ride
I purchased this car new in 1995. I never had an issue with this car. It was even good in the snow. I have owned other cars since I purchased my Civic, but I never kept any of them. The guys at the garage that just recently replaced the original belts said I could easily get another 100,000 miles from this car as long as I keep up with the oil changes every 3000 miles. It currently has 161,600. The body was in great shape until a few days ago when I got hit head on. The crumple zones and airbags worked well. Unfortunately, insurance has listed it as a loss. I am going to miss this car more than the Mustang I traded for it. I will definitely buy another Honda.
Keeps going and going
Bought this 5 years ago for daughter in HS. She has put about 40,000 miles on it. It has been extremely reliable, and we have only had to fix routine maint items. Was in major hailstorm, so repaired all dents, repainted and added chrome / alloy 16 inch wheels. Also added Sony CD player, new speakers, and auto start / remote locks. The car still looks new, and interior is holding up amazing for a 12 year old car. My daughter still likes the car, especially since it was repainted and customized, adding remote starter. Still gets 32 MPG on highway, low insurance costs, and hardly any repair costs. Not sure how much more you could ask of a car. The v-tech engine still runs great.
A super little car
I LOVE this car. It's sporty, fun to drive and has been very reliable. For fuel economy, it's wonderful. Although mpg varies with season, temperatures and type of driving, I have very consistently gotten approximately 32mpg as an average of city and highway. Sometimes more, occasionally less. It's a sharp little car, especially in red!
it keeps going and going and going
I love my civic, I have driven it across the country. It now has 208,000 mile and is still going. Just in the last year has it begun to need repairs. (Head work, air compressor, rear door interior)I am looking for a new car and hope my next car is as good as this one has been.
I love my Honda
I bought my car last year and have put well over 30k. The guy I bought it from figured it must be getting old at 230k for miles. Now at 266k it still goes and goes. I had to put a transmission in it when I got it. (which I got for $140 used and installed only into it less that $500). All I ever have to do is put oil in it .
Best car everrr!
Purchased the car from my brother 2 years ago. A few things were done to it including an engine swap from a japanese civic SiR-II(170HP) and cloth seats from a 2001 Integra, as well as 2001 Integra GS-R rims. It is amazing on gas averaging about 40mpg hwy and has alot of oomph when I need it. I use it to commute to my job about 26 miles a day. I use synthetic oil and change oil as suggested as well as spark plugs. I have had no problems with the car as of yet. I love the looks of the car. Very unique... Honda really should put out a new hatchback model. I wont be getting rid of this car for a long long time. Exterior is stock except for coilovers and fresh paintjob. I get alot of compliments
Perfect Car
I couldn't be more happy with my Civic. It is a blast to drive and looks excellent. The car has 94000+ miles on it and has never had any of the original parts replaced! It is excellent on gas. Went 313 miles on one full tank of 87 unleaded. Parts are cheap as is the maintanence. I have a 5spd manual and the throttle delivery is fine on freeways. Enjoy your Honda. It won't treat you bad. Just watch out for shady salesmen and get a good clean, mechanically sound car no matter what you buy.
Awesome car
I bought the car in August of 06. It had an aftermarket header and muffler. I have added rims, tail lights, neons and the interior has been custom painted. The car runs pretty good. It has the 1.6L VTEC-E motor, with a 5 spd tranny. I can run with my dads big v8 truck. The car is built extremely well. It has 190,000 on the motor and it has been put through a lot of racing as it was in a racing club before I bought it and I have been rough on it. I have no problems with the car, uses a little bit of oil and that's it.
I LOVED my Honda
I loved my Civic since day one. Only thing I've had to replace within the year and a half that I have had it was the CV shaft. Nothing expensive, and easy to fix on your own. Don't put money into this car though. It's most likely gonna get stolen sooner or later, and you can't expect anything from insurance. So if you have a Honda, park it in your garage, even if you have a "nice" neighborhood.
Always there
This car always been there for me. For a full tank of gas could get me to far away places and never did complain. Except for a change of struts It never stayed in repair shop too long. And now that I'm passing this car to a friend, I feel like I'm losing a friend.
DD Awesome, Project even better!
The car is a great car. I have whipped the snot out of this car on pavement, dirt and snow. Haddles so well and the replacement parts are so cheap. Come on 30 Bucks for struts? So simple. Not to mechion the car is a cake walk to work on. I love this car because you can beat and beat on it. It will not only take it but ask for more. When your done you can turn it off, work on it and learn about a simple car in the mean time and drive it the next day cause its like working with legos so easy!
Best car ever!
I bought this car used with 202k miles on it. I've had it just over a year and it's not got 220k. It consistently gets 39 mpg combined (it has the 1.5L Vtec motor). We've had to put some work into it; CV axles, tie rods, control arms and ball joints; but this has been well worth the time and $ put into it. This car gets better city gas mileage than just about ANY new car. And with it being 18 years old with 220k miles on it? It drives like new! The paint is fading but we're going to have a paint job done. For a completely STOCK car this is the best buy out there!
Amazing reliability
Well I will miss my little red Civic. I bought it new in 1995, the only owner it ever had. A young girl decided that she had to plow into me from behind last week and totalled it and now I am car shopping. But I never had to do anything to this car other than the routine maintenance. It would have gone another 100k miles easily. I recommend this year's model (or any Civic model) enthusiastically to anyone looking to buy a used car!
great car,hands down
My first car was a 94 civic lx non vtec.lI loved it so much i Didnt want an american car.unfortunatly brakes wore out alot,cv joint, innner and outer tie Rods and the allignment was very Fragile.but the style and handling when in.good.condition was terrific.long story short i wrecked it and bought a 2000 toyota corolla ,,girly and cheap interior but drove amazing then traded for a 97 nissan maxima which is v6 way more fun then a.4cyl but bad on gas and expensive repairs.so i sold and went back to honda and got a 95 civic ex 2dr for $1400 172k miles ive had no mechicals issues at.all and its my daily driver for the past 8 months i even have raced it on all stock at 123mph no problem
I love my Civic
I have a 95 Civic and absolutely love it. It was recently stolen and I thought I would never see it again, but 2 months later it is back. I couldn't even find another car I loved as much as a Civic. They are small, fast and fun to drive. If I could spend any more time in this car- I would.
Theft
This was a great car for me, loved every mile I drove in it. Reccomendation for new buyers: Make sure to spend at least $150plus on a good alarm system. Mine is now in the junkyard because I failed to do so. Otherwise this is a great car, and good looking as well.
sweet thang
I think that the honda Civic 2 door Ex coupe is one of the best vehicles of that year. Not only does it look good it also performes well. Plus for a high school kid it is very fuel efficient. I can also soup it up make look even nicer.
Happy Honda Owner
My first major purchase. I am happy it was a Honda Civic. The interior is not cheaply made like many vehicles. Do the basics of the vehicle and you will be smooth sailing. No American cars for me.
Reliable Decent Transportation
A great reliable car. A bit noisy especially in comparison to new cars. I bought it knowing it was reliable and it has remained to this point in time with 191,000 miles. Just regualar maintenance and wear items nothing unexpected or catastrophic failed. It does everything pretty adequately except accels in fuel economy and reliablity, I recommend this car. I plan on running into the ground hopefully it will carry me through 2-3 years of grad school.
The title should go here
Well... its been a few years since I bought my Civic. It has never left me stranded and if I didn't drive like a maniac woman, then it would probably be in better condition! What can I say its a Honda, its not going to die, unless you beat it to death, and even then it still won't die. I too have noticed the rough tranny shift in the autos. Thinking about swapping out the engine and transmission soon because I need more power! Not sure, might just buy a new car.
Best car in the world
I purchased this car from the lot and have driven it now for over 7 years. It has been the most reliable car I have ever owned. Excellent gas milage- 35 MPG and still as fast as a BMW 325. Generally speaking, this has been a VERY reliable car. If you are considering a 92-95 Civic, check the CV joint boots, if over 100K check that the timing belt and hoses have been changed as well as the water pump. Oil changes at regular intervals are very important with this car.
1995 Civic EX
This has been a great car. We bought it with 99K miles on it a couple of years ago, and for the last year I've driven it daily to work, which is a 140 mile-a-day round trip, and it hasn't broken down once. It now has almost 155K on it and shows no signs of stopping. I commute over some high mountain passes, and it's fun to zip around other cars. Definitely go for the manual transmission. All in all a wonderful vehicle.
The car never dies
I have had this car for about 2 years now. It may not be the best looker but the thing drives amazing even after 500,000 thousand miles!!! I’m still on the original 5 speed clutch never rebuilt and the original 1.6L VTEC. The car is fast and really good on gas and I hope it never dies because this car has been absolute blessing to own!

My Honda Review
If I had known how underpowered this thing was, I never would have bought it. The thing just eats tires too. Go figure.
Lack of power
You feel least power driving a CIVIC comparing with other similar size cars with similar horse power, for example, TOYOTA Corolla, Saturn, GEO prizm. Slow in acceleration could be dangerous e.g., when you try to change lane. Fuel economy is not as good as you may expect for a low power engine. 22-26 mile/gallon with combination of local and freeway driving.
Good little car
I have owned this car for 8 years now, and it has served me well. It is a very reliable car. It never left me stranded anywhere. It's a great car for a single person, or small family. I now have two children and the back seat is just too small for a family to find comfortable.
Great Car
I was thinking about buying a new car - something with a high safety rating. And because I now have 126,000 miles (although my mechanic keeps saying this is a great car and I have another 100,000 miles in it). But after reading the reviews in here on the cars that have high safety ratings and on my car, I think I'm going to keep this one for awhile. There's no bad reviews on this car. VW and Volvo both have some very negative reviews (hadn't made my way to Saab, Audi or Subaru yet). The car is getting a bit sluggish with age, but overall, it has great get up and go for a 4 cylinder.
Civics
I have always loved the Civic it is such a great car,and with a little effort you can have a nice, fast car. They are so easy to drive. I now have a car that i am very proud to own. There are so many upgrades for the Civic like body kits, I love all the body kits. I have even got one of my friends to consider a Civic because they are so reliable. i love Civics every one should get one if they have the chance.
Wouldn't suggest it to a friend
I Got a 95 civic dx i disliked almost everything about it the looks, it's not my type of car, i mean it got great gas mileage, that's about it
