Runs Forever
This is our 3rd Accord LX 4 cylinder (See similar reviews under 97 Accord and 2000 Accord Runs Foverer). 97' LX model has 209000 miles & still going strong with no major repairs, 2000 LX model has 73000 miles with no repairs. The new 2005 model finds an excellent middle ground between the 97', which runs and feels like a sports coupe / 2+2, and the 2000 which drives and feels more like a traditional 'family' sedan. I switched from Toyota after blowing the head gaskets in our 92' 3.0 liter V6 engine twice (@ 85K and 140K miles) due to an engine design defect which necessitated a complete engine rebuild. No more toyota's for this driver.
Wonderful
Heated seats, auto up and down of driver side window...I love it all, it's much better than my '03 Camry which had a very rough down-shift and a flaky airbag warning light.

Great car very bad gas mileage
So far it's been a great car. Plenty of room. No major problems. Just recently the tires starting making a roaring sound. But over all a very nice riding car. Went to SC in it right after we purchased. Very nice ride. Not loving the gas mileage. Ever since I have had the car, I get 24 mpg. I think it being a Honda it should get way better then that.
Great car
This is my 2nd Accord and it was not a tough decision to come back! Cannot find a better value for all the features you get. Heated seats have been great now that its cold, Navi is great for directions, XM rocks on long trips, and dual air means no more fights over temperature! Great car, solid build!
Overall Great Car
I've had this car for (3) months and 12K miles. Leather seats and interior ergonomics are excellent. Gas mileage has averaged 35 with mostly highway and rural road driving. Manual transmission is effortless in forward gears. Reverse is sometimes difficult getting into gear.
Left GM for this!
I hesitated in trading in my 2001 Impala LS instead of buying the 2005 LS since I was unwilling to part with the room and features of the Impala. The Accord provides ample room for my family, has all the features of the Impala LS except OnStar, (never used) driver information center, (mileage/fuel/compass) and automatic door locks. The Accord's features are comparable or better than the VW Passat. And Accord has the V6 instead of the 1.8 4 cylinder like the Passat. The cost after negotiations on the Accord was much less than the price of the VW Passat. Plus, Honda Finance offers 1.9% finance out for 60 months (if you want that route) whereas VW would not.
Greay Vehicle!!
This is an outstanding car. After research, it looked like the maximum bang for my buck. I have not been disappointed. I added an alarm sysyem for security and auto door locks when car put into gear. Dealership experience great. Another hint for those used to auto headlights or daytime running lamps is to leave lights on with EX. The auto off will turn off lights after 10 or 15 seconds. The car drives great with good power and outstanding fit and finish. You cannot go wrong with this car!!
The best that I could have bought!
I have no complaints whatsoever about the vehicle. I have an '88 Accord LX, with only 122,000 original miles on it, and everything works. The only reason that I bought the new one was because I could not see putting the money into the old one for new tires, rims, etc. to spruce it up. So, I bought my '05, and I am ecstatic. The engine performance is amazing. I only wish the mileage was better, but then I am using the '88 (4 cylinder and 5-speed) as my yardstick.
The best car that I ever purchased.
I've purchased four honda's prior to buying the Accord EXL, and each one had there own special touch to them. But what makes the Accord EXL unique is when I take a road trip. There is nothing like it, I mean its like you're dreaming. You can't feel the road or hear the vehicle when its going down the highway. Thank God for XM radio, because it makes all the difference when you can't decide which CD to listen to.
Saves Gas
Honda has truly outdone themselves with this car. 255 total hp (240 V6 and 16 electric) provide a quiet yet substantial driving experience. This car has tremendous acceleration through the mid range to top end. From 50mph to 75mph with gas/electric combination in 4 seconds is impressive. Max fuel efficiency for me seems to be in the 62-64 mph range. At this speed on I-95 I can get just shy of 40mpg. Around town the mpg is just above 28.
Great Car!
This is our second Honda Accord sedan and fourth Honda. After test driving the Toyota Camry, Nissan Altima, Mazda 6, Volkswagen Passat, and Honda Accord, we liked the Accord best. Smooth ride, fit and finish, smooth shifting transmission, and feature packed for a $25,000 car! We have had poor experiences with the big 3 American automakers in the past and didn't want to have a financial burden repeat again. We found the Honda to be the best value in the bunch. We opted for no navigation system (we know how to use a map), and were fortunate enough to get employee pricing on our Accord. This is a great car and we hope to have it for many years to come.
Honda Accord
We really like the handling of the car. It corners very nicely. For a 2 door it is very spacious in the back seat. Plenty of room in the trunk. We took it on a summer trip with our 2 boys and the drive was great. Good gas mileage. Nice features that makes it very comfortable. We love our car.
The best car I have ever owned
The car is the best car I have ever owned. Ive had v-8s and this car is a 6 and performance wise and fuel wise is far superior to anything ive ever driven.
No comparison
I have purchased a 2004 Accord EX V6 also and based on my satisfaction with the '04 decided that for the money the '05, which I bought for my wife, was the best choice over all its competitors. From a reliability and resale point of view this car has no comparison. I have been a loyal Honda/Acura driver for many years. After looking at the competition it's hard to be convinced there's a better choice. Smooth quiet ride at all speeds. Cruises effortlessly at 80 MPH.
Accord Review
One of the best cars on the road. Can not say anything bad about it. Smooth fast fun and reliable at the same time
The car Detroit wishes it could build!
With a daughter in college, my family needed dependable, economical transportation. I considered the Camry, Mazda6, and the Accord, and chose the Accord. No regrets! It is a much better car than I had anticipated. Excellent economy, good performance, good sound system. Handles well and very comfortable. I knew that Honda made good products, but did not anticipate the Accord being this good.
Great Car
The Accord is great, it has everything you need in a vehicle-power,comfort. But i think the design still needs help the rear is still not to my liking but i still like it.
As Expected
My 4th Honda and 1st Accord. Not having too much success w/ my previous purchases (especially the unreliable '01 Civic EX) I decided to give the Accord a try. Overall it's a very good car. After driving it 3k miles, I find the car to not excel in any one area, but neither are their any deficiencies. It's quiet, comfortable, safe, peppy, attractive, with great gas mileage for a 3,500 pound car. The brakes are mediocare at best (and far TOO sensitive...they grab abruptly at low speeds, at times so hard causing the seat belts to lock). Other than that I'm pleased with my purchase.
7th Honda and still going strong
A pure pleasure to drive. Great handling and brakes. Interior is much improved over 2002. Acceleration also much improved over 2002 and the entire drivetrain is silky smooth.
My First Honda
I like the car, but I have to agree with one other reviewer. The first thing i noticed was the vibration of the steering wheel and kind of loud engine. That kind of caught me off guard that the steering wheel vibrated - that should NOT happen. And my other immediate concern is the discomfort of the seat, mostly the lumbar area of the back - very concerning since i hope to have this car for many years. Other than that it drives just ok, not as quiet and as smooth as my test drive with its competitor. But overall its a nice car. I bought the car because i like it. I think it has attractive styling and was told that it is a work horse and i tend to keep my cars until they cant drive anymore.
Great Upgrade
Decided to trade in my 2001 for the new 2005 with Nav and I am extremely happy with it. Fit and finish are near perfect and the extra 40hp is VERY nice. Better pickup and smoother/quieter cruising speed. The navigation system is worth the money. Much better than a portable unit that I used in my 2001 Accord. Voice activation is really useful/fun and just plain cool :)
our FIRST new car!
We purchased our first new car in November, and we've been together 13 years with two children, lots of sports and running around. We researched many cars and in the end, we always went back to the Hondas...the deal we got on the DX was INCREDIBLE...we paid less than 13,000 with no trade in, brand new, off the lot for a 2005....it has already got almost 15,000 miles on it and we LOVE IT...roomy for the 4 of us, huge trunk....great ergonomics inside...looks great outside too...our gas mileage has been about what it stated, maybe a little under...but that is when my husband is driving :-) very dependable....no problems thus far and I know people with Honda Accords with 250,000 + miles...
Love it!
I've had my Accord Hybrid about a month and I love it. I am amazed at how quiet it is, how smooth the ride is and the great pickup. I always think there is room for improvement for the fuel economy but for the size car I need right now I think this is the best. My new bumper sticker, "My other car is not a Hummer". :)
Mine is a 2003 LX V-6 Coupe
I've had my 2003 LX-V6 coupe for 1-1/2 years now and I like it as much as I did the day I drove it off the lot. It has power to burn (it will top 100 just going up the on ramp to the freeway) so merging with traffic and passing is a breeze. At the same time I get better than the EPA mileage estimate, 24 (me) vs. 21 (EPA) city and 32 vs. 30 highway. Handling is reasonable if not spectacular. Ive done effortless 12 hour days driving from Colorado to Montana. And feature for feature, the price was the best of any make. Nobody else offered a V6 in this class for even close to the price I paid.
Nice Car
went from truck to this car, ride is great, acceleration is super Most fun I've had driving in years. Front seat heater switches should be moved, always being put on accidently Thats my only complaint. Great car
Hard to get rid of
Handing this off to college age daughter and after looking at the 08 accord and others I don't want to get rid of it. Its been everything I expected it to be. When guests get in they talk about how nice it is. My father raves about the color (red). It so fun to drive and can't imagine ever owned a 4 cyl now. But it's nothing to brag about from the outside. very plain.
10 days, 1,000 miles and lovin' it
Couldn't be happier with the Accord. I really liked driving a Durango for the past 7 years and the 3 Saturns we have owned have been fine. However, the Accord is the best. It is fun to drive, well built and gets good mileage.
A Honda family
I own a 2002 Honda Accord V-6. My wife had a 2002 BMW 225. We replaced the BMW with a Honda Accord Hybrid. So far we have had a very positive experience with the new hybrid. Our driving has been expressway/city street and we have averaged 32 plus miles per gallon. On the expressway we seem to get about 36 MPG. Love the car.
First Accord Hybrid in Canada
Dealer says I bought the 1st of this model in Canada. My purchase was for ethical reasons - concern for the environment. It gets about 9 km per 100 litres for city driving and about 6.5 km per litre on highway: about 850 km per tank. Promo said potential is 1000 km per tank. Empty tank takes ~ 54 litres (tho specs indicate it is larger.) Dashboard indicators help me drive in a way that conserves fuel. But, when I need power, it is THERE - LOVE it! (When I do not drive in the "eco" zone, my gas mileage goes up, of course.) My primary critique is that this technology was put only into a luxury model. I do not normally purchase leather, seat warmers, 6-CD changer, etc.
Great car for the money
I was shopping for a car w/navi in the $35,000 range-G35,TL,ES330.I really didn`t want to buy an Accord because you see so many of them on the road. The more I shopped the better the Accord looked. For over $10,000 less than I planned to spend I got a well engineered car thats comfortable and fun to drive. The interior is well done with nearly all audio and climate controls avilable on the steering wheel.
Crummy Paint
I am surprised to find out that the white Honda Accord that I purchased has only two coats of paint on it. It does not have the clear coat because it is white. A small pebble apparently hit the hood. Now it has to be painted. I have two places on the rear bumper that the paint scrapped off while the car was at the airport. A Honda dealer while I was on vacation told me about the paint. I have never had a car that has paint that just flakes off. What can I do? I bought this beast in Sept 2004. It is a 2005 model. I wish I had never even seen this car. It has a high pitch whine from the front. The first 100 mile trip I went on there was a constant flapping sound from toward the front.
So far...
...so good! Just got this 4 cylinder LX and love it! It's quiet and responsive. Haven't notice any of the rattles that some reviewers have indicated. Plenty of power at whisper volumes. Interior is well designed with everything within driver's reach. AC is ice cold. Mileage has been solid so far. No wonder this car is so popular!
Best Accord yet
I purchased this Accord, our fifth, 3 weeks ago and couldn't be happier. The 6 cylinder engine coupled with the 5 speed auto transmission and 16 inch tires are a great improvement. It rides well, has plenty of power, looks good inside and out, and has plenty of safety features. It is fun to drive and compared to my Lexus LS430 seems very comparable for less than half the price. It is a superb urban vehicle for my wife.
just driving is fun
The Honda Accord is a very easy car to drive. I am a older man and have a gut but the seat allows me to adjust for real comfort. The peppy response is great in traffic and makes you think it is a sports car. My fuel mileage is getting better now that I have 27k plus miles. The built in fuel calculator shows on the road mileage of 28 mpg regularly and when I drive a lot in the city it is usually around 24-25 mpg.
Own it, Love it
Owned a 2000 Accord and was so pleased with it that I purchased a 2004. I like the exterior design much better and the interior is much nicer as well. Nothing compares to the reliability of the Accord as well as the fit and finish. The car handles very well and the road visibility is superior to all others I test drove. I highly recommend this vehicle if you are looking for a sporty reliable vehicle that is roomy enough to double as the every day family car as well.
Best yet
I have owned quite a few cars and until now, with the exception of a VW beetle in the 70's (forgive me; it was the time) I had always bought American made, and always had issues before long. When my son was eighteen and bought his first car, he bought a four door, four cylinder Accord. While nice looking, reliable and easy on insurance esp with a teenager at the wheel, it didn't seem to have that extra kick. So last year when I needed to decide something about a vehicle, I saw an ad for the 2dr coupe and well, it is sitting in my garage now. Black with black leather and maxed out with the 6 cylinder engine, I haven't had so much fun driving ever. I LOVE THIS CAR. and so will you.
A good value but a noisy vehicle
I just bought my 2005 EX 3 weeks ago. It met a number of important needs that other cars I looked at couldn't; fuel economy, backseat leg room, and a reasonable price. This is my second Honda Accord. Honda was discounting the cars below invoice which added to what I perceived as a good value. My only complaint, but it's a biggy, is the amount of road/tire and wind noise that makes its way to the cabin. The noise is most prevalent on highways with a high amount of aggregate -- unfortunately this accounts for most of my travel. I initially thought something was wrong with the vehicle but my dealership insists the noise is "normal".
Rock-Solid
First-time Honda owner. Have had it about a month now and am very pleased. Absolutely no squeaks or rattles and no evidence whatsoever of poor quality. Everything is obviously well built. The 5- speed manual is fun to drive. Very comfortable seats (leather has lumbar support -- a big plus). Great gas mileage as well (averaging 30 MPG even with a lot of city driving).
Beyond Satisfaction
It took a total of 25 min. for me to close a deal from the time I walked in the showroom and sat down with Brad Buck at Jenkins & Wynne. The price was below TMV & they got use exactly what we wanted. Plus they threw in the mud guards for free, and gave us the mirror option for cost. I LOVE this car.
What a feeling...usually.
My EX has been back to the dealership way too many times for hard starting and cold sputtering until warm-up. Honda says the hard start problem is a result of the emission system going through a "test cycle" periodically. I have a 2005 Lexus ES330 which hums along perfectly, without as much as a hiccup. Honda needs to eliminate this issue on their V6 engines.
WOW!! What a wonderful car top drive
I traded in my 05 Nissan Armada for this car because of gas prices, MPG and we moved farther out from the city. We are getting 31.1 MPG now as compared to the 10 MPG in the Nissan Armada.
Just Love the V6
Although just had the car for 2 weeks, I am very impressed with the quality comforts and handling for the price. Just traded a 2003 Camry which I loved and although the Camry was more quiet and provided a smoother ride, the interior comforts, handling and extras of the Accord definately make up for it. I Definately recomend it.
Great Value For Ride, Price & Size
Paid $ 17988.00 including destination end of 05 yr. THANK YOU Edmunds for posting the $750.00 roll back to dealer! Gas mileage is kicking in now. Nice drive around town -handles 75mph highway with no problem. Brakes are rated good for disc/drum set/up as well as turns. Road noise does not bother me. All and all this car is almost a #10 for its class.
Accordingly
I've had my Accord for almost 5 months. I must say that I like the car a lot. It does everything well, but nothing extraordinary. It's peppy, has great looks (inside and out); is comfortable; reliable; great value; but a boring driving experience. It's a perfect car to get you to/from in style, knowing the end result will be a car with great resale value; low insurance costs; good safety record; and very good gas mileage. It's a buy.
3 Years 36K No Problems
Bought our 05 at the end of the model year to get a deal. We're completely happy with it, and have had absolutely no problems. We consistently got 30 mpg city/highway combo, then started getting around 35 mpg once we slowed down on the highway a little. This is a perfect commuter car. Plenty of response and power in traffic. Typical tight Honda feel. No squeaks or rattles ever. This is our 3rd Accord, none ever leaked a drop of oil. Only minor issues are that the seats are a bit firm for long distance driving, the stereo isn't that great, and rear door exit is tight -- have had people hit their heads on the way out.
Refined I4
The I4 engine is smooth and quiet and the automatic transmission shifts smoothly. The interior design is top notch. The cd player is surprisingly good. There is lots of interior storage. The cloth interior is one of the best ones I've ever seen. The wheels are very nice looking. The EPA gas mileage ratings are pretty low this car is capable of 38 MPG on the highway and upper 20s around town. For the price it's a really good value.
Honda needs to learn from the Europeans
I've had 4 Hondas over the years, and several European makes. I purchased this car this week, and in the first 400 miles I realize this was a mistake. While Honda manufactures wonderful engines and transmissions, and are generally user-friendly, the steering and suspension are COMPLETE DISAPPOINTMENTS. The car drives like a rollerskate, fights changes in direction, rebounds off any inperfections in the road, cannot track around bends to save itself, and has a completely unacceptable amount of road noise resonating in the cabin. I drive 100 miles a day, and this car makes me tired with steering corrections and road noise. This car is pointed in directions - it doesn't "handle" at all.
No spare tire
I also was surprised to learn that this car does not come w/ a spare tire. I went to a used tire place and purchased a full size spare /used rim for $85. I am wondering if this heavy tire will affect my gas mileage. I plan on only using it for long distance trips. Also was disappointed that I had to purchase the compass/ auto diming rear view mirror...think it should have been standard on a $30K car! Love the satellite radio and the car drives really smooth. So far the mileage indicator has been 32 at the highest number, 28 lowest. Fun to drive, really quiet. Very comfortable.
Finest Car I have ever owned
Interior is top notch, everything easy to reach and operate. Leather heated seats are terrific. Moonroof is great and have had no problems in the 2 months I have owned it. Contrary to what many people report about EPA rating, I am averaging 35 MPG on the highway, 27 in the city. Very impressed. Sound system is also excellent. Very roomy. Superior handling characteristics. Love styling of rear end 03-05 models. The 06 rear end looks like everything else on the road from a Ford 500 to Impala/G6/Lacrosse and Camry. Would highly recommend an Accord to anyone. Fit and finish are flawless on mine. Car is Black with Tan interior & spoiler. Gets LOTS of Looks & thumbs up.
Sweet Ride....
I've had the new Accord EX-L for about a week. It is one sweet ride. Some reviews have complained about road noise, but it's not a problem for me. The car is quick and responsive, escpecially for a 4 cyl. car. The auto tranny is unbelievably smooth. You can hardly tell when it shifts. Handling is great. The interior has a quality feel. I especially love the XM radio that comes with the leather package. One catch is that the front passenger seat does not have a heater in the backrest, just the seat. The brakes on my car are a little touchy, so I will bring it back to the dealer for an adjustment. Other than that, its the perfect car for me.
