the 2004 handa accord sedan ex/l
this vehicle handles superbly and its acceleration is fantastic even though i have a 4 cylinder engine accord. The interior is more spacious than the earlier model i had
Accord V6 6spd vs BMW 328is
I used to have a 97 BMW 328is coupe. I loved the car, the new 2005 honda v6 6spd coupe is faster in a straight line not in turns though. For everyday driving it is comparable and a lot less money to buy and maintain.
Great car
This is the first brand new car that i have ever owned and I am 100 percent satisfied. We drove from NJ to California and the car handled the road like it was made for it.
Great car
I enjoy this car in every way. It is fuel efficient, but has enough power to pass, even at interstate speeds.
Great car, jury still out though
I have owned Volvos all my life(37 yrs.) and I am extremely impressed with this cars' safety record; a large reason why it won out over the Camry and any American sedan. The 4cyl. is plenty peppy enough and the interior design is very ergonomically friendly. The 6 speaker stereo was a pleasant suprise. Overall this car drives beautifully in any environment with plenty of power especially when stepping out to pass at 65-80mphs. It is so quiet that I actually was doing 90 and didn't realize it until I looked down at the speedometer! Whoops. Jury still out at only 200 miles on the car.
Review
Very nice. Much more exciting than a Camry. Smooth ride, handling not bad. very nice interior. missing some features however. alloy wheels are an improvement from '04. overall great car for the price.
Needs road comfort
My only complaint is the feel of every tar strip and bump as a thud not a good ride. Our traded in car, a 2002 Accord EX 6, was a dream road feel compared to this '05 model! If only Honda could keep the handling and have a softer road bump transmission to the passengers we would be 100% behind this car. If this doesn't bother you, go for it. This car is a bargin and fun to drive. It's only that the wife hates the thuds.
Value, features, Car&Drivers '05 10BEST
Honda reliability & industry leading fit & finish, a hallmark for the 2005 Accord Sedans. Overall size is a little larger than my '93 Accord LX (@ 155k miles still going strong) which means more comfort w/outstanding European-like road manners! This Honda Accord 4 cyl. AT i-VTEC is PZEV (Partial Zero Emission vehicles) Rated/Certified, you get a car that doesn't contribute to the earth's pollution! After a week of ownership (bought May 6th for $22,961 OTD) & 160 miles, I can see why Car & Driver choose the 2005 Accord as the "Best Family Sedan"!!! Fun to drive, excellent road feel, confident handling, relatively quiet (moon roof closed), w/appealing, comfortable interior and EPA 24/34 MPG!
Great Car for the money!
This is my 3rd Honda Accord I previously had 1994 EXL and a 2001 EXL...I had to save money so I went with the 2005 LX 5 Speed, and had to have it ordered, as there are very few 5 speed LX. I would like to see interior color choices increased. I would like to see a silver car, with grey (leather) and grey interior offered. If honda does not offer that, they are going to loose a faithful Honda customer to Toyota, as you can custom select your leather choice! Honda has also stepped back from the 2001 to the 2005 in the interior of the car. I was not pleased with the hand rest on the 2005. Also on the EXL they do not have leather trim in the back! The preformance of the 2005 is GREAT!!!
Good, But Not Great
Lots of pep under 50 mph, but 4 banger accelerates slowly at higher speeds. Feel every crack/bump in the road due to harsh suspension. Too much wind noise, and sunroof makes a buzzing sound when going over 40 mph on rough surfaces. Seats are a little uncomfortable for a 250 lb. heavyweight. Averaging 33 mpg.
Great Value
Bought this car back in Dec of 04. Best value for my money hands down. car is up to 100K miles and drives like its brand new. all systems (electric, sound sun-roof, & leather) work beautify and never had a problem. Passengers and friends don't believe that I have 100K miles or that the car is 4 years old. I highly recommend this vehicle!
Great Car
Wanted the sedan but they dont make the V6 with a manual in the sedan. So I bought A saphire blue Two door with black leather interior. The car is my 4th Honda and they only get better. This car still pulls from 65 mph in 6th gear! 17in wheels and nice.
In the city
The hybrid features of this new Accord activate after the engine warms up, which takes over 2 miles. For longer trips in city driving, the fuel economy will be just fine..close to the predicted (29 m.p.g.). But for short trips, the 4 cylinder Accord would do just as well and cost much less up front.
Love pushing that pedal
Only had it two weeks, but this car is much more than my 2001 Accord 4 cyl. trade-in. 240 HP v. 135 HP for starters, and that increases the driving fun exponentially. In my advancing middle age, I'm also lovin' all the bells and whistles, esp. the XM...but the biggest thrill now is the acceleration, handling and steering. Very fun to drive, at least for one used to a 4 door, 4 banger for the last 4 years.
WOW!! What a wonderful car top drive
I traded in my 05 Nissan Armada for this car because of gas prices, MPG and we moved farther out from the city. We are getting 31.1 MPG now as compared to the 10 MPG in the Nissan Armada.
Battery Died -Towed Twice in One Day
Only have 16,000 on this baby, owned under 3 yrs. and I was shocked when my battery died on a very hot day. My shop says it happens! He also said the breaks are fine, just noisy pads (after 10,000 noticed a slight squeal). Still like the car for what I paid under $18,000 everything included Cash. Nobody is perfect. Must last 10 yrs.
First 4-Door
Took possession of my new Accord on Christmas Eve. I wanted a change from my unreliable VW 2door. I had been very impressed with the navigation and sound system in a friend's TL and realized I could have almost all the same features at a much lower price in the Accord. It has a powerful V6, with decent mileage to boot. Plenty big enough cabin/trunk space and just about every feature I could ask for in a car. This particular model must not be too popular, as the dealer had a hard time tracking down an EX-V6 with Navi. Foglights and rear lip spoiler added just the right touch.
Bob
Have had no problems. I had one recall on the driver side airbag which was replaced. It is my second Honda Accord. The first one (a '98) gave me no problems also.
Great car
I bought this car specifically for the interior. It is spectacular! Overall this is the best purchase I have ever made. A few quirky things to pay attention to before buying: 1. The navigation system is semi-complicated and cumbersome - It integrates the Audio controls and the A/C. 2. With the automatic transmission, there is a slight lag when you put the pedal to the floor and try to accelerate. 3. No 60/40 fold down rear seats. The back seats fold completely down, OR you can just fold the armrest down and put long things in from the trunk (works well for skis). 4. The sunroof controls are to the left of the steering wheel. Overall, I would highly recommend this car.
nice car but ugly lights
I like the car, but not crazy about the color choices and the lights, specially the rear lights, they are long and look like a sad/angry face!
Honda Accord EX v-6 Coupe w/navi
This is a great car! i am very happy with my purchase. I looked at the nissan altima, 350z, mustang gt, and knew this was it. i traded in a 01 mustang gt conv. I am very happy with my decision. Its almost as fast as my mustang, handles very well, and looks great. I love the sunroof and the navi. The design is great. Gas mileage is a bit disappointing. right now im averaging 18.2 mpg but i have been doing a lot of sitting and driving through neighborhoods looking for homes. I also i live in Phoenix so you need to use the dual zone climate control a lot(110 today)! This car is very smooth and fast. I got a ticket on the way home from the dealership (70 in a 55 on the fwy). GREAT CAR!
Glad I bought one
My wife and I traded her 2001 BMW 330ci for the 2005 Honda Accord Coupe. Coming from a BMW we knew we had to max the new car out so it has everything except the 17 inch wheel option. The car's build and fit are perfect. The doors, windows, and sun roof all close solidly, giving a feel of quality. The cabin provides a quieter ride than the BMW did, which was one of the things we wanted to improve. The ride is smooth and sure. We felt it was considerably better than the Toyota Solara. There are very few things you can add as options on the Honda where Toyota will tack on a hundred dollars or so for options. The V-6 is strong and the 5-speed auto shifts seamlessless.
Good value for the money
This is my third Honda and they are still excellent cars. I test drove a Camry and found it comparable, but the cost of options that are standard on the Honda made the Camry too expensive. The back seat leg room is best of any car I looked at, and I think the trunk is very roomy.I love this car and feel very good about the price I paid. However, I am finding that bucket seats are not for the elderly or those with arthritis.
My 3rd Honda 2nd Accord
I love the performance of my Accord. The grey color is awesome. Seats are awesome. Excellent leg room as well.
Accord Hybrid
Great car with great gas mileage. Who would expect anything less from Honda. The only drawback is the lack of a real spare tire; however, there is room for one if desired. I had a moon roof added to mine because they don't include one as standard equipment - I was told it's because of weight. I can't say that I've noticed a mileage difference because of it.
Excellent Initial Quality
I've had two weeks to scrutinize the car and it is extremely tight with no noticeable flaws in materals or contruction. The engine is a delight. With the manual transmission, it never feels underpowered. Too soon to tell what kind of mileage it will deliver. Best feature of all, the wonderfully comfortable front seats. I've owned many cars and never found more comfortable than these. (leather)
Great Ride
I love my Accord, it is comfortable and has the power I want. I felt safe on snowy roads, it is an easy driving car. I have a ittle problem with the feel of the brakes at times. I can't put my finger on it, maybe "spongy" is the best way to describe how they feel sometimes. I hope that this not a problem with the brakes. I am enjoying my Accord, both driving it and looking at it!
Fun to drive but poor NVH
Got this car for 4 years now with 96,000 KM in the odometer. During warranty period, need to send back to the service center to change the cock-up alarm system and steering system. Annoyed with loud engine noise, wind noise and tyre noise. Also the suspension system is rather too firm for my liking. Road undulations, tyre and outside noise creep into the cabin. The overall NVH left much to be desired. Engine noise is so annoying that I have to add fuel additive to reduce noise. It helps, believe me. No qualm on the handling aspect. The fun factor somewhat offset the poor NVH and refinement, I guess.
5 months and counting
My '05 Accord turned over 10,000 miles this week & I'm still very happy with my investment. This is my 3rd Honda purchase, 1st Accord. The reliability I've experienced from my Honda's keeps me coming back & loyalty with the dealer keeps me getting a good deal. Since 1977 my family has owned a combined total of 7 Hondas with my latest purchase - I drove 5 of them. Honda was my first car & though I've tried others, I know it's the best value! I did a lot of research and drove a number of other vehicles, but I knew that I'd be getting the best for my money from another Honda. Going from a 5 speed to an automatic worried me, but I'm totally satisfied with the performance. GO FOR IT! REALLY
Quietist Honda Ever
I have never owned a quieter car, and I have had 15 of them in the last 25 years. It has plenty of power, gets 28 mpg in rush hour traffic, has room for my family, which includes two men over 6'3", and all the features I could ever want. It was the best $22,000 we could have spent.
Drive Great - Not Japanese Anymore
The Honda Accord is a blast to drive, and gets reasonable, if not great, mileage. Cost to own will be in line with Honda's of the past. Honda stands behind their cars, but I did NOT expect to find any Honda that had problems direct from the factory. My car had major window seal leaks, and water in the car after the first rain. The dealership promptly fixed, but left an indelible impression on my opinion of their manufacturing process, which in my previous 3 Accords and 1 Civic were NEVER at issue. We'll see. Overall, an excellent car, and I hope to be able to write a different opinion as this car ages a bit. Jim, in Shawnee, KS
Fun Car to Drive
This car is a joy to drive. I have enjoyed the fact that it is quieter than previous Accords and gives a smoother ride. It has great pick-up and cruises extremely well on the open road. This has gotten excellent gas mileage. I get about 25 to 27 on all around driving and 31 to 34 on open road driving. The Navigation system has been helpful at times. However, it would be nice if it could yield routes other than the interstate. Seats are very comfortable- love the seat warmers. This car has been a pure pleasure to own and drive!
6 Speed Coupe Makes for Lively Commute
Been commuting in Hondas since 1989-- two Civics and one Accord, all 4- cylinder 5-speeds. All very reliable, intelligently designed, and peppy enough to pass (as long as you were already moving--and didn't have the AC on). The 6-speed coupe is a very large performance leap from the 4-cyl. Accord. A little low on torque (210 lbs.), 1st gear is something you want to punch and get out of; 2d gear, conversely, will knock your head back. Uphill acceleration is phenomenal (even with the AC on). Shifting is very smooth and intuitive. While this car loves RPMs in the 4-6k range, it is also very much at home in stop and go traffic. Love the fact that this 6- speed takes REGULAR gas. 16k and no probs.
Runs Forever
This is our 3rd Accord LX 4 cylinder (See similar reviews under 97 Accord and 2000 Accord Runs Foverer). 97' LX model has 209000 miles & still going strong with no major repairs, 2000 LX model has 73000 miles with no repairs. The new 2005 model finds an excellent middle ground between the 97', which runs and feels like a sports coupe / 2+2, and the 2000 which drives and feels more like a traditional 'family' sedan. I switched from Toyota after blowing the head gaskets in our 92' 3.0 liter V6 engine twice (@ 85K and 140K miles) due to an engine design defect which necessitated a complete engine rebuild. No more toyota's for this driver.
Great car very bad gas mileage
So far it's been a great car. Plenty of room. No major problems. Just recently the tires starting making a roaring sound. But over all a very nice riding car. Went to SC in it right after we purchased. Very nice ride. Not loving the gas mileage. Ever since I have had the car, I get 24 mpg. I think it being a Honda it should get way better then that.
7.5
its a great car for an older person trying to look young, but for an enthusaist it falls short when it comes to proformance. the car doesnt bring the driver confidence and mores has really bad understeer when cornering hard. the car is fast though, in a srait line its a lot of fun but arounds turns im constantly afraid i might understeer and crash. the interior is nice and so is the outside.
Great buy
I have owned many Hondas over the years. I still can find a vehicle that beats them for the price. Fit and finish inside and out beats all the competition. Switching from a 2000 Trans Am to an Accord, I thought would be a hard change. But I dont miss the rattles and road sounds I used to get out of the Pontiac. Going from a 305hp engine to a 160hp was not bad at all. The Accord it quick and gets out of its own way. Just a note it is a lot easier to get my two year old in car seat in the Honda. But when I bought the Pontiac I was in a different situation.
Overall Great Car
I've had this car for (3) months and 12K miles. Leather seats and interior ergonomics are excellent. Gas mileage has averaged 35 with mostly highway and rural road driving. Manual transmission is effortless in forward gears. Reverse is sometimes difficult getting into gear.
Refined I4
The I4 engine is smooth and quiet and the automatic transmission shifts smoothly. The interior design is top notch. The cd player is surprisingly good. There is lots of interior storage. The cloth interior is one of the best ones I've ever seen. The wheels are very nice looking. The EPA gas mileage ratings are pretty low this car is capable of 38 MPG on the highway and upper 20s around town. For the price it's a really good value.
Great Value For Ride, Price & Size
Paid $ 17988.00 including destination end of 05 yr. THANK YOU Edmunds for posting the $750.00 roll back to dealer! Gas mileage is kicking in now. Nice drive around town -handles 75mph highway with no problem. Brakes are rated good for disc/drum set/up as well as turns. Road noise does not bother me. All and all this car is almost a #10 for its class.
Greay Vehicle!!
This is an outstanding car. After research, it looked like the maximum bang for my buck. I have not been disappointed. I added an alarm sysyem for security and auto door locks when car put into gear. Dealership experience great. Another hint for those used to auto headlights or daytime running lamps is to leave lights on with EX. The auto off will turn off lights after 10 or 15 seconds. The car drives great with good power and outstanding fit and finish. You cannot go wrong with this car!!
Makes Sense
The best thing about this car is that you don't feel odd. It's invisible: it feels and handles as an ordinary family sedan - you are not aware that it is different. Yet when you need power it does not disapoint. I like that it uses regular gas and that I'm getting about 30 miles per gallon average day to day mileage.
Great car!!
This is an outstanding vehicle! After doing the research, it was apparent to me that this car gives the maximum bang for your hard earned dollar. It has features you would not expect for a vehicle which costed under $29,000 (including destination, taxes and all). I added an alarm system for security and auto door locking feature when placed in gear. Great dealership experience. Another tip for those who might want daytime running lamps or auto on headlights is to keep your lights on all of the time. The auto off feature in the EX model will turn off the headlights after 5 or 10 seconds. The car has great power (240hp) and fit and finish. The Honda Nav system is second to none.
honda hybrid power
This car has more performance and mpg than I thought possible. It really gets 37 mpg highway and 29 city and is the most responsive car I have ever driven. However I only have 3000 miles on it so all the complication necessary to get mileage and performance may yet bite me.
The best car I have ever owned
The car is the best car I have ever owned. Ive had v-8s and this car is a 6 and performance wise and fuel wise is far superior to anything ive ever driven.
Accord Review
One of the best cars on the road. Can not say anything bad about it. Smooth fast fun and reliable at the same time
Great Car!
I love this car! I wanted a comfortable commuter and looked at the Lexus ES330 and the new Avalon. When I finally chose the Honda I felt like I compromised, but realize I got everything I wanted. The styling is okay, but it is silky smooth and the build quality is exceptional. I almost boght the 4 cyl and am glad I opted for the V6. The power available is terrific and it makes it more fun for me. If waivering between the two, definitely go with the V6. It has made all the difference in my outlook after commuting 1 hr each way into/out of DC. The favorite car to drive in the family - no question (over 05' Highlander limited, 98' Jetta & 93' Toyota p/u)
Great Car for the money.
I got my accord dx a few months ago and have put on about 7000 miles. I have had no problems, and find the car to be great fo long distances. It is comfortable and roomy.
Great Car
The Accord is great, it has everything you need in a vehicle-power,comfort. But i think the design still needs help the rear is still not to my liking but i still like it.
our FIRST new car!
We purchased our first new car in November, and we've been together 13 years with two children, lots of sports and running around. We researched many cars and in the end, we always went back to the Hondas...the deal we got on the DX was INCREDIBLE...we paid less than 13,000 with no trade in, brand new, off the lot for a 2005....it has already got almost 15,000 miles on it and we LOVE IT...roomy for the 4 of us, huge trunk....great ergonomics inside...looks great outside too...our gas mileage has been about what it stated, maybe a little under...but that is when my husband is driving :-) very dependable....no problems thus far and I know people with Honda Accords with 250,000 + miles...
