I like it a lot

I was actually in the market for a Mazda3, but the Mazda dealerships must think that they have a gold mine because they were not giving me anywhere near my trade-in value that Honda gave me (Almost $3000 more)! I wasn't even considering the Honda until my wife told me how much she enjoyed hers from a few years back so I figured I'd take one out for a spin. Boy was I surprised! The car was a lot peppier than the Mazda3 and I liked the feel of the cockpit much better. I actually drove the V6 auto, but I like the 4cyl 5 spd much better. The shifts are smooth and the engine just keeps climbing. All in all, this is a great little car and I am very happy with it!

I thought this was my dream car but now I guess the honeymoon is over. I have put 600 very carful miles on this thing and already the rattles and squeaks are starting. A big let down was the tranny started leaking bright red fluid on my garage floor. I had believed that the previous years (98- 02) transmission problems would have been long gone but apparently not.

This is the greatest car. I had never owned a Honda before, and feel like I now have one of the best cars in its class. My gas mileage is much higher than estimated, and the 4 cylinder has all the power I need, with smooth gear changing, great comfort. I have seen reviews complaining of road noise, but I don't notice it. In fact, my car seems amazingly quiet on the road. I listen to CD's with ease, unhinderred by supposed road noise. In addition, I am not nearly as tired after a trip. I feel this is truly a quality car and I am pleased to own a Honda Accord.

After months of wandering car lots, we finally got serious, drove cars, and talked prices. We liked the styling and performance of the Infiniti G35 Coupe, but the back seat was unbearable (crooked neck and head banging on the glass) and the price was intimidating. A test of the Acura TSX was quite pleasing, but it was a 4-door (less "sporty"), and was going to cost $2-3K more than the Accord Coupe. The 6-speed we loved in the TSX also comes in the Accord V6 Coupe, which offered more power and performance for less money. There is slightly less rear-seat headroom, but enough for us (5'11"). Cars we didn't drive: A4 V6, BMW 325 - too costly; RX8, Maxima, Subaru - styling; Camry - handling.

I purchased this car new in Oct. '04, love it! I've had it 4 years now and have had no mechanical problems other than having to replace a battery terminal, brakes twice, and working on my 2nd set of tires. No pause on acceleration, awesome zip. Ultra comfortable interior. Stereo is great. I will definitely be looking for a new Honda next year as I pass my down to the next child in line.

I bought an EX-V6 before this one and find the hybrid much better in quality. My EX-V6 squeaked and rattled loudly after 1K miles, we'll see how this one does (hybrid feels better put together). The ride feels much better and i like the electric steering. Gas mileage is *HIGHLY* variable -- 10 to 20 in rush hour traffic but 25-40 while moving around town. 35-45 mpg on highway where vcm really helps out. overall better acceleration than EX-V6, but accelerating keeps the car in V6 mode and thus you won't realize gas savings. Therefore, you can save on gas, but you have to work @ it -- don't be a lead foot and drive @ off peak hours. Other features it shares with EX-V6 work just as well.

Not Trading 2005 for 2008!

I've had 2005 EX V6 for over 3 years now and have decided to hang onto it for a few more years, because I think the new body style is ugly! Right before the warranty expired, the whole transmission needed to be replaced. Challenging myself to get the highest MPG's I could, I recently achieved over 37 MPG's on a trip on the highway, never exceeding 65 mph and being very gentle on the accelerator. Can't beat that for efficiency! Other than the transmssion, I've had no problems with the car, so I'm hanging onto it. Compared to American sedans I drive at work, the steering and suspension feel "alive" and connected to me.

I have owned this car for two months and have yet to see another one. I wanted something fast, comfortable, stylish, and relatively inexpensive that would hold its resale value. I got everything I wanted. The six-speed is very smooth. The build quality is superb. Everything just seems to be so well thought out. You get much more content when you choose 6MT over automatic. 1. Upgrade from 16" to 17" wheels 2. Sport Suspension with tower brace. 3. Perforated leather seats 4. Much better tires. 5. Sound system upgrade from 120W to 180W 6. Intake manifold tuned for better sound above 4500RPM. This car loves the tight twisties but is a business jet on the turnpike at 2500rpm/80mph.

I was surprised with the amount of car I received with my Accord. Power heated Leather Seats, power windows, power locks, remote transmitter in key, 6 disc player, moonroof, 6 air bags, great stock sound system,2.4L engine w/ great gas mileage 26 city/34 hwy. It is a very smooth ride for the most part, except on the interstate where road noise is present. The car comes with ABS, but needs bigger brakes. Another surprising feature is how much room there is in the backseat, 3 adults fit easily in the back. A lot of storage compartments throughout the car. Also 6 cup holders for a 5 person coupe, Pretty cool! All in all I am very impressed with this car and will buy Honda in the future!

Bought the 2005 Honda Accord about a week before Christmas in 2004. Ended up getting the car a little sooner than I wanted after someone pulled out in front of my Honda Civic. Anyway, it's the best car I've ever owned. If you give this car proper maintenance it will go! Has a very smooth ride especially on the open road. Even though it's a four cylinder it will run easily at 80 or 85mph. But I usually don't drive that fast. Gas mileage is supposed to be right around 31 to 35 mpg, but last summer took a round trip of 290 miles and wound up getting just over 39 mpg! Mind you I drove at or under 65. Good car, in future hope to buy another one.

I wanted a reliable car with decent acceleration, looks and gas mileage at a reasonable cost. My Accord delivered on all accounts. I test drove the V6, but was impressed enough with 4 cylinder to go with that. I wouldn't say it's "fun" to drive, but its not a slug either. On- ramps and (reasonable) passing are no problem. I currently have 65K on the odometer and the only thing I've replaced are the tires (at 55K).

Have owned 3 previous Hondas going back to 1981. The 2005 LX is nothing fancy in terms of features, but we weren't looking for lots of glitz with this car. It's quiet, the VTEC 4 has plenty of pop, you can easily hit 70 on the on ramp. We've been getting 27mpg, mix of city and highway. Seats are comfortable, layout of interior and storage locations are nice and make sense. Trunk space is more than you'd expect looking at the exterior.

6-speed transmission sometimes "popped" out of third gear the moment it was engaged or was just difficult to engage. Problem began on day of purchase. First two dealers unable to duplicate problem, so American Honda customer service unhelpful. Third dealer service department was eventually able to duplicate and pursue the problem. Shifter cables and then transmission replaced under warranty. Unexpected noises from rear end corrected with replacement of suspension linkage, exhaust componenets and strut. Total of eight warranty service visits and sixty days in the shop before 5,000 miles were on the odo. Honda service departments vary in quality. Find one that gives fixes, not excuses.

I purchased my 2005 Honda Accord LX 5 months ago at 159k miles. It was in good condition, minor outside damage. I was satisfied with the car. Until I noticed the great amount of gas usage. I keep my car fully maintained, oil change, tire rotation & the gas mileage still is HORRIBLE! After two months the radio light came on & off, now its not coming on AT ALL!( alot of reviews say the same thing) Has the power to get up and go overall GOOD car ! Cruise control has a malfunction as well as a HORRIBLE stereo system.

Onto my second 7th generation Honda Accord, my first being a 2004 Honda Accord EX 4cyl, now bought a 2005 LX sedan 4cyl, comparatively the LX is basically the same exact car minus the sunroof and steering wheel controls, plus the LX has 15 inch steelies and the EX had the much more attractive 16 inch alloys, honestly, I could care less for the EX anymore, it's just more money and possibly more problems as I remember the EX had to have the weatherstripping periodically fixed on the sunroof, which just became a hassle each time I wanted to use it (fixed myself repeatedly with a screwdriver re-aligning the weatherstripping), the LX is reliable, currently holding at 173k and as usual, it looks sporty, but it's slow on take off, boring on long rides, and unimpressive in the fuel economy department, but it is visually appealing compared to a Toyota Camry of the same year, still both cars are undeniably reliable, just wish they both had better take off and were a little more driver oriented. My only real complaint is that the suspension (which has been replaced because every bump was unforgiving, is still... unforgiving) nothing has helped the horrible ride on even the smallest bumps and I'm running general RT43 tires, which aren't the best by any means on this car. I can say though that the accord is WAY better in the snow than my old 2002 Honda Civic EX which was almost scary and I pride myself on my abilities in snow, I recommend using Goodyear Ultra-grip tires and it transforms the Accord into a tank in the snow, I love the front end appearance of the car and love how it looks fast but it's frankly not.

I bought the new from the dealer but did not buy extended warranty since I bought the Honda. The power steering was replaced at 30K miles and now the automatic transmission needs to be replaced at 45K miles. The dealer quoted $4000 for new transmission. Fuel Pump relay was replaced as part of the recall. This has been a real disappointment and this is my last Honda ever.

This car has 115000 miles on it, 16 years old still running strong. The five speed transmission shifts like a dream and the engine are both smooth and somewhat powerful with 160 horsepower. The car is very practical, the trunk is big, and the rear-seat legroom is very generous. The design outside is somewhat bland, but the interior is full of high-quality materials and is both useful and luxurious. Everything still works great, on the level of luxury as a BMW or Mercedes. Used as a work vehicle, I haven't even been taking super good care of it. It is way overdue for an oil change but still runs like brand new.

Gas Mileage Stinks

Right from the start the gas mileage has been terrible. Around Orlando, we average 17 mpg. The dealer tested it for 48.5 miles, a combination of city and highway and got 19.4 mpg. Honda of America said this is normal/acceptable. We believe it is the transmission. The transmission shifts somewhat roughly and drags when we take a foot off the gas at slower speeds. We reported the problem to Honda's customer service center. So far, we are totally disappointed with the gas mileage this car is getting. We think we are in for a hassle, based on Honda's initial response.

My husband and I bought a Honda Accord Hybrid at the end of July . We had a pleasant experience with the dealer, althought he was the fifth dealer we had gone to in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. The first problem I noticed about the car was the motor shield was hanging loose from under the car. We had to have that replaced at our expense. The next problem we had was the front bumper was cracked and we are having that replaced at our expense. We have babied this car and the car stays in the garage. The car has never been in a wreck. The Honda body shops seem to be aware of this problem. The Honda Corporation has been extremely rude and and unhelpful. This is a major flaw.

It seems very reliable, but once I've driven it for roughly 1,500 miles, I wish I'd have not completed this purchase. You guys rate the seats a maximum score on comfort...my rear tells me different. The outside is bland...plain, boring. I still can't believe I listened to my salesman. Kudos to him, he SOLD me.

The 2005 Accord Hybrid suffers from unrefined technology. I nearly lemon-lawed the car because the engine malfunction lamp flashed at full throttle. Only a recent software update fixed it. Glacial transmission downshifting makes it a real drag to drive on winding roads. Various electronic systems seem to be prone to glitches and odd behavior. This car is barely a hybrid because the electric motor is rarely used for acceleration. Its primary function seems to be as a virtual flywheel during 3- cylinder operation and a power source for the hybrid A/C. The non-hybrid portions are what you'd expect from Honda. The car is quiet, refined, comfortable, and handles decently.

We bought this car as a traveling vehicle. It far exceeds the mileage ratings. We get from 30 to over 38 on the highway. We have been diagonally across the US, and back. The power of the four engine is amazing. It is comfortable and quiet on the highway. Incidentally, I don't slow for the hills, and most of our driving is at 75 mph speeds, and in a lot of elevation changes. I like the looks, but admit I like the taillight treatment of the 06 and later Accord. I also love the look of the instrument array.

I love my car but I do have 1 gripe; I think the heated seats control should be on the dashboard near the radio. If you just jump in the car and put a bag or pocketbook to your right (as the driver) it lands on the switch and may take awhile before you notice it's on. It was last summer this happened to me when I'm driving along and all of a sudden thinking to myself "Boy, it's hot in here!"

The car runs alright overall. Maintenance is medium level. Braking and road noise is fairly high, not something I expected from Honda. Also, either the front or rear brake needs replacement every year. At 71,000 miles, the oxygen sensor failed, costing 300 dollars at the dealership to repair. This seems a common failure in Honda cars.

Bought this Accord to replace a BMW 325...really don't miss the BMW. As a former '95 Accord driver, I was wary of the auto shift quality, but the new 5-speed is a huge improvement. 4-cyl power is great, if you think you need a V6, you're probably wrong. (V6 would be nice on long freeway upgrades, that's about it). Handling is decent, definitely not sharp like the BMW, but the tires are made for mileage, not grip. Brakes are so-so, an area Honda could definitely address next time around. Amazing seats, almost as good as Volvos I've ridden in, and that's saying something. Only regret is I wish I'd shelled out for the EX with Leather...this car is actually worth the splurge...

I test drove this car, plus the '05 Acura TL, and the '05 Honda Civic Hybrid. I immediately dropped the Civic because I wanted more performance, interior room, and luxury feel. The TL was great! I was close to getting it. What pushed me over the fence to get the Accord instead was it's fuel economy. In the past 5,500 miles, I've averaged 27 city, 39 hwy, and once I even got 48 MPG! I love this car and would recommend it to anybody. The suspension is smooth, yet sporty. The power is awesome. Handling is great. Very quiet ride. All controls are easily reached. Fit and finish are excellent. I even love the color! I would buy this car all over again if I had to.

Clutch, 6MT and steering work surprisingly well together. White reflects the hot sun enabling the dual zone ac to perform extremely well. This car was $600 more than the 2000 Toyota Solara SE-V6 5-speed stick new 5/2000. Plus this car has moonroof, TCS, EBD, tilt/telecope, leather, map lites, 6- disc in-dash + XM Satellite Radio. Even has remote entry, seatback map pockets and 215/50 series 17-inch alloys. First fillup (after dealer "full tank of fuel" corrected by author) in mixed city/highway = 27.7. I went from a Supra Turbo to the Solara and never stopped grousing about the difference in the performance envelope. The Honda 6MT has better all arounds numbers than the 1989 Supra Turbo.

Love the interior, and the navigation system is worth every penny. Brakes stop me on a dime. The acceleration is a little weak, especially going uphill, on account of the 4 cylinder engine. However, going with the V4 saved me a couple of grand, and more or less is just fine. This car is just really comfortable to drive. When I drove it home from the dealership, I didn't want to stop! Also, the XM radio is built in, which is nice, and the car also has voice command capability, which is fun to use and to show off!

Power vs. Fuel Economy

I have owned the car for a few months now and have had no real problems with the vehicle. Those who are hesitant about the fuel milage, think of it: its a V6 Hybrid, not a 4cyl hybrid. If I wanted to get from point A to point A and 1/2, I would have purchased a 4cyl. For a V6, you cannot beat the fuel mileage. I have a lead foot and average 26 in the city. I get 35 on the highway at 85mph assuming I drive 150 miles. The electric motor only assists the car, not takes over the place of the engine. The engine stops when the car stops and does the A/C compressor. If you shift to a low gear then put it back in place, your car will stay running. I personally like the car. Tons of power.

This car is amazing. Honda did it right with the EX-L coupes. This car has great performance and great comforts. The 6 disc cd changer with xm radio built in sounds amazing. The styling makes it aggressive looking. My last car was a lemon of a Jeep and this car is the total opposite being very reliable, amazing gas mileage for me 26/34.

4 cyl is plenty

The 4 cyl has a surprising amount of power. I came from a 6 cyl Jeep and this car still does not seem sluggish. It is much quicker than any other 4 cyl that I have owned. It is not as fast as the Altima, but gets superior fuel economy. The interior quality is great and the stereo and climate controls are easy to use. Sunroof controls are in an odd place (to the left of the steering wheel, and too low) but it leaves room for a sunglasses holder on the ceiling in front of the sunroof. This car is very roomy in front. Not quite as much room in the back as the Altima, but still good. Head room with the sunroof is still adequate for the tall (6'5") as long as the seat is not raised.

05 Honda accord

I had purchased the 05 Accord Lx because my 96 civic EX was a great car. The car overall is great, but the manufacturer could have made the radio reception better and had a better quality control. For example, the inner roof top needs to be glued and the dash was not seated right. Minor to its overall perfomance and looks. Dealership did not emphasize how the car does not need an oil change until 10,000 miles per normal wear. Instead, they gimmick deals on maintenance for every 3700 and other unnecessary maintenance. As mentioned earlier, I had a car in great shape for over 120,000 with proper maintance.

It is the smoothest ride! We have owned Hondas for years and this year I think they have just put the icing on the cake as far as a luxury car is concerned. The radio even sounds great! i can't wait to get in my car and go somewhere. Sometimes I just get in the car and drive with no destination in mind.

After waiting since November, I just got my new white Accord Hybrid. It was worth the wait! The exterior is sporty with its aerodynamic lines, mini spoiler, and satellite antenna. It's interior is cozy, loaded with features like separate climate control for driver and passengers, voice activated navigation and audio systems, comfy leather seats, and fully adjustable driver's seat.

I am selling this car because the fuel economy is lower than I was led to believe and the seats are extremely uncomfortable for both me and my husband. I have had to get a seat cushion from the Better Back Store just to be able to drive this car, and I still have trouble with it. I've never had a car as uncomfortable as this one. I only get 26 mpg in the winter in Colorado and 31 mpg in the summer. I do like the handling and power this car affords, though.

I do not recommend this car. My expectations have not nearly been met. Highway mileage is great but city mileage has yet to break 20 MPG in suburban Boston. I'm certain that will improve after the winter but will be no where near the EPA mileage. The biggest disappointment is the loose steering. As a three car owner, all Hondas, the steering doesn't compare to either the CRV or the Odyssey. This car replaced a German Sports sedan. I wasn't expecting the same drive but I didn't expect to despise HIGHWAY driving. It's not quite as bad as a big 1967Chevy wagon, but it's bad. I'M considered trading the car in. Drive this on the highway with turns before you seriously consider purchase

Since the purchase of my first Honda Accord, I have thoroughly enjoyed this car. Everything is so well designed and the car is fun to drive. The satellite radio is a wonderful feature. I gave up an old mini van for this car. What a great change. The performance was what caught our eye. We test drove a hybrid and the engine was not as smooth as a six cylinder. So we chose the 6. This car has some get up and go!

Purchased for fuel economy with performance. Fast and quick handling. Runs like a V8. A better riding set of tires would make this car more comfortable on the freeways in CA. The factory Michlin S-8's are hybrid tires for fuel economy- they ride hard. Fuel economy is getting better now at 4,000K. A fuel additive gets us 40MPG Hyway and 30 in the city-best mileage. Average driving is lower at 25/35. Sound system is just ok. Dealer response has been good. I replaced the tire pump with a mini spare. No problems so far. We like the car! Brakes seem too sensitive and have a tendency to grab quickly at low speeds or when coming to a stop.
