2005 Honda Accord EX 4dr Sedan (2.4L 4cyl 5A)

Extremely happy with my purchase. There are small differences of what I expected as standard in a US model that do not appear in the Honda. The car has spirited performance and handling. The ride has a sport feel to it and I enjoy driving it on winding roads. Comfortable enough for my family of 4.

Bought this vehicle to take a six week trip across the country. Went in the middle of August and returned the end of September. This vehicle was so comfortable we never were tired even after logging 900 miles in one day. Also, the V6 performed admirably and we averaged just over 30 mpg for the entire trip of 9,000 miles. At one point in South Dakota while using the cruise control (@75mph) we averaged 34 mpg. This is a beautiful car in every aspect and really fun to drive.

Car is a great deal for the price. I compared the EX V6 sedan with the Acura TL. I know they are very similar cars because they use the same Honda Platform. For the higher price of the TL, I couldn't justify spending and extra $6K more for the TL versus the Accord for few tech goodies. The V6 Accord is an excellent value.

My first review was in May @ 1000 miles. In September did a long haul tour (26 states and Canada). Overall in all kinds of driving conditions we averaged 33+ MPG (city, mountains, heavy traffic, open road). I have a JPEG foto of the Nav Information Screen; 9/22-9/22 Trip - 480miles Elapsed Time - 6:27 Average Fuel Consumption - 38.7 MPG Average Speed - 74.6 MPH Nav sys is fine for working around unfamiliar metro areas. When you have local knowledge you see that many suggested routes are crude, round about, and just plain wrong. Lot of out-dated data in the NAV database. Local post office moved 10 years ago but still in old location.

I recently purchased the Accord V-6 with leather. I love it. It's comfortable, pleanty of room in the back seats. The stereo system is awesome, it handles well & tons of power!!!!! There are so many neat little features to this car, you'll be reading the book alot to find them all. My husband & I actually fight over who's going to drive!!! We researched cars alot & test drove all of them, & this was the BEST car we looked at. I absolutely recommed it.

Up to 45 mpg hwy, 35 city. If you drive it like a maniac, you'll get poor mileage like any other car. If you drive more conservatively, you'll get better mileage like any other car, it's all relative. Overall, we're getting about 30 mpg, mostly city, but I can go more than 600 miles on a 17- gallon tank on pure hwy miles. In cold weather it does take a few miles for the electric motor to warm up. Very comfortable and reliable.

Excellent car, it is comfortable and fast with good handling. My overall mileage for the last 8000 miles is 30.7. Probably representing about 70% city driving. In local suburban driving I get from a low of 25 mpg if it is a shopping trip with lots of stops and starts, to 30 mpg in more typical point to point trips. On the highway the mileage at 70 mpg ranges from 34 to 43 depending on wind and other factors. My average highway is probably about 37.

This was an impulse buy -- was getting my 03 Accord LX serviced, saw this car on display, smelled the leather and was sold. Am averaging about 35 mpg -- here's how I do it: When the green "eco" light comes on at the desired speed, I hit "cruise" and stay there. I'm trying to get rid of a heavy foot. If you want to drive this like the performance sedan it is, hitting on all 6 cylinders, you're going to see lower mileage. It's that simple. Don't drive like a nut, and you'll be rewarded. This is truly a great car; I've been driving Accords for almost 20 years and this is the best by far. Trust me.

I am really sorry to have even considered this car because from the very first day that this car was bought, it has been giving me problems (squeaking, brakes are bad, got recalled for trans and airbags). Looked at the toyota and no such recall on that car. Bought the camry and am very happy with that car.

I am totally satisfied with my 2 accords. The accords are the best price and you seem to have a luxury car. They have both power and good looks. We love the leather and the roominess of the cars. I feel Honda is selling the car too low for how well they handle and look. What else can I say except we love our Hondas

Love it! This WAS my first Honda. My wife and I commute 50 miles one way to work and have already racked up 20000 miles since May 2005. Best handling car I've driven in the snow and ice. We are so happy with the Accord we bought two used Hondas since this purchase. A 97 Hatchback Civic for my 16 yr old daughter and a 91 Prelude for myself. Both have 100K on the odometer and run great. I'M SOLD!!!!!!!!

I have owned many cars and just turned in my Nissan SER off of lease. I also own a Mini Cooper S. Planned on another Nissan but drove the Accord for comparison. The Honda's refinement, room, and economy won me over. Plenty of room for 4 large adults. Fuel mileage (More than one half highway) has never dipped below 30 mpg. The 160 horse 4 cyl with the 5 speed is very smooth and peppy enough for most situations. The leather interior is high quality and everything is well thought out. A large friend spent 2 hours in the back seat on a recent trip and commented that he is going to seriously consider this car to replace his old Camry. He is interested in a new TL but not at $10K more $.

I have had many new cars over the years, most were GM & Ford but this Honda has to be at the top in most all aspects. It's fun to drive and is fast for a 4 cyl. & delivers good mileage. I drive fast 70 to 80 most of the road miles & the little Honda gives me high 30's and once in a while will squeak 40 MPG. This is our first Honda and it will not be my last. In short it's my best auto purchase in 50 years (trade at least one vehicle a year)... so you can see I think a lot of this car & the company stands behind them.

Bought the 2005 4Dr LX automatic new. My wife used it as a work vehicle for four years and it was bulletproof. Similar to other reviews, the brakes are the Achilles heel, had the rotors resurfaced twice so far. After the 60000 mile service, rear brakes replaced and new pads. Now no problems. Only replaced the battery and have done normal maintenance up to this point (76000 miles). Interior is simple laid out and the seat cloth ages well. Four cylinder has plenty of power and we average about 25mph in mixed driving, 32 on the highway. Very pleased with this car. So pleased that we bought another Honda product, Acura TL used this month.

To dramatically improve the front, be sure to add the front under spoiler, fog lights, and half bra. To improve the rear fascia, add the rear deck-lid spoiler--not the raised lit one. To make the inside look even sportier, add the all-aluminum/metal trim. Makes the inside look that murch more classier. This is an awesome improvement from my '02 Accord Sedan...much more quiet and comfortable and smoother to drive. Interior is top notch, except for some little things mentioned below.

I just purchased the brand-spankin' new LX Special Edition Coupe model w/ standard transmission yesterday. It is a true pleasure to drive compared to my previous Honda Civic EX. I like it even better than my wife's 2003 1.8T Jetta despite the slightly less overall HP at my disposal. The interior has all the little tweaks to it that were missing or non-existent on my Civic, and I don't think I'll be longing for a different car when this lease is up. The Accord is an EXCELLENT car for the price, performance, features, and most importantly: impeccable quality.

Ordinary driving yields mediocre milage, low 20s suburban, upper 20s highway. You must learn to drive this vehicle differently to get better, but still well below EPA sticker, milage. Very slow acceleration, constant use of cruise control, etc. The electric package is so small that it almost never is used. The major economy comes from shutting off 3 cylinders in cruise, but the transition between 3 and 6 cylinders to too sensitive. Even a 2% grade will kick it back to 6 cylinders, and pressing on the accelerator ever so slightly will do the same thing. Having driven a Prius, I'm disappointed in Honda. A nice sedan, well made, but the hybrid package is a disappointing misfit.

I would have preferred to wait a year to let the prices come down a bit and to make sure the new Accord Hybrid would be as good a car as my last Accord ('95 wagon, 168k miles). I have had absolutely no reason to regret my purchase. The car is a dream to drive -- tight, responsive handling and ride, real performance (without guilt). I have found no defects in 6 months and over 6,000 miles. The Nav. system is both fun and useful and the sound system is great. The car routinely gets 37 mpg or more at interstate speeds and averages 25 mpg on my 20 mile mixed commute. The transition from economy mode (3 cylinders) to full power is virtually undetectible. I love my new Accord!

In today's world of 80+ speeds, I am a little less than enthusiastic about the gas mileage I got from this seemingly-stingy Accord. But coupled with the 5 speed manual, the car proves fun to drive, reliable as the day is long and sporty in a sensible, Honda-esque manor. When looking at this car, be sure to think about the V6 as the 4 cylinder does power the car well, but it's a full-size sedan, and those extra ponies can sure help move the car. Otherwise, a great all-around driver.

My work commute is 40+ miles round trip in mixed urban/suburban driving and I get about 32 mpg. On a recent highway trip, with some rolling terrain, it was about 40 mpg. I bought the 2005 Accord Hybrid because it had the V6 "giddy-up" that's needed for the crazy traffic conditions in our area, combined with great eco-friendly fuel economy. Although he may disagree, I find it as fun to drive as my husband's BMWs...the 3 series, the 530i, or the 745i. I only wish that it had a power passenger seat, auto-tinting mirrors, and bluetooth technology.

This is my third Accord and the third Accord I love. I gave up the last one with 194,000 miles and it now has over 250,000. After a brief stint with a '94 Acura, I'm back with the Accord and it's a wonderful car to drive. It's very comfortable and the heated seats are great this time of year. Driving up a mountain was easy the one time I did. The car has very good road manners and the steering is much better than I thought.

Own an '02 Accord which is an outstanding car. Just bought and '05 for my wife and am very impressed on Honda's improvements to an outstanding '02 design. I'm a hard grader not believing something can get all "10's" but this car is outstanding. Bigger and quieter engine, better mileage, very comfortable interior, repositioning of gauges and displays which shows they are continually listening to customers driver comments. The XM radio is an outstanding feature. Can't say enough good things about this car. Looked at many competitiors vehicles as we wanted the best value for our money and a car we can continually rely on. This is it. Check out the '05, you'll be impressed.

I have owned Volvos all my life(37 yrs.) and I am extremely impressed with this cars' safety record; a large reason why it won out over the Camry and any American sedan. The 4cyl. is plenty peppy enough and the interior design is very ergonomically friendly. The 6 speaker stereo was a pleasant suprise. Overall this car drives beautifully in any environment with plenty of power especially when stepping out to pass at 65-80mphs. It is so quiet that I actually was doing 90 and didn't realize it until I looked down at the speedometer! Whoops. Jury still out at only 200 miles on the car.

Honda has always built good cars. And this Accord is no different. Except the mileage rating on the hybrid accord is way out of balance with the actual. The best I have been able to attain, with careful driving, is 7 to 10 miles per gallon less than advertised. For a major car manufacturer of hybrids this is very bad.

Excellent vehicle for the price no returns to dealer for repairs after 1 year of ownership. Highly recommended for a midsize sedan. Too many buttons which are clustered together and distracting for the driver to use. Excellent performance from the 4cyl. version no need for the larger V-6. As expected Honda continues to improve there product instead of changes for the sake of change. Over all I highly recommend the Accord for value and retention of resale value.

Just bought a 05 Accord today and I must say although im a big fan of Honda, im a little dissapointed in the vibration in the steering wheel. I traded in a 05 Civic lx to get more room and I think the drive in it was very close to that of the Accord. I think for a $20,000 vehicle, the ride for the driver could be improved. The car has alot of great qualities and only a few negative ones, mainly the stiff ride and the comfort of the seats.

I've put 9000 miles on my Accord so far, and it has been exactly what I expected. Many of these reviews have talked about the mileage, I'm not sure what they expected from a car with 250+ HP. I get 22-27 in the city depending on traffic and season. I take frequent long road trips and drive about 70 MPH on average, and get about 35 MPG...if I drove 60 I'd probably be closer to 40 MPG. When I drive the car I feel like I am driving a well built quality machine. The sound system is very good. Bottom line is you get reliablity, comfort, and muscle, while getting better than average MPG, esp compared to other cars with this much HP.

With gas prices rising above $3 we suddenly became more interested in a hybrid, but we didn't want an economy car. We got the graphite pearl and everyone loves that color. I wanted the 2005 because moonroofs always take away head room and at only 6 foot 1 I graze my head on my wife's EX civic all the time. I really like the XM radio and can't believe I lived without it for this long. This car is soooo quiet and drives really smoothly. Now I can drive an economical car in the fast lane while travelling up large hills. My friend next door with a 4 cylinder accord is jealous. We live in southern california and really enjoy the autoroll down windows with the remote on hot august days

I have been averaging 18-19 mpg in the first 600 miles. I thought this car was 24/34, at least that's what was written on the sticker window. I am also disappointed with the tight steering wheel. I prefer a looser and easier steering at all times. I wonder if any of you folks are getting this as well.

I leased this 2 dr. EX and I am qute happy and pleased with the vehicle. I have just a couple of minor complaints, of no real importance but that could bear some design improvement. The windshield pillar on the driver's side I find is too wide or thick and inhibits visibility when making a left turn. Also, the drivers seat lacks sufficient adjustments (manual). Last but not least, the driver's seat belt does not retract correctly and I have to fish around to find it. The service man told me that the belt is up to manufacturer's specs. I have to retract it manually to get it into the correct position to enable me to fasten it. Other than these the Honda EX Coupe ia a good vehicle.

This is my first Honda. I haven't been excited about a new car purchase in nearly 20 years, but that has finally changed. Honda really makes a solid car. It handles very well, is quiet, and you get the overwhelming feeling that they really put a lot of effort into the engineering. Very "driver friendly."

With a daughter in college, we needed a practical, economical car. Choice came down to the Accord and Mazda 3 (a good car). Decided to spend the extra for the Accord -- good choice! The car is quiet, comfortable, and handles very well. Controls are logical and easy to use. The adjustible steering column makes finding an ideal driving position easy. Knew of Honda's quality, just did not expect this car to be as comfortable as our former 92 Lexus ES 300. Handles much better than the Camry.

After the first 500 miles I noticed a squeak in the dashboard. I'm now at 1500 miles and the noise has ceased for about 450 miles. The only other negative thing with the 4 cylinder is it's slightly (and I mean slightly) rough warming up in the morning. After it's warm though it's silky smooth. There was the Nissan Maximas 6 cylinders tradeoff for the 4 cylinder Accord.(We all know Gas Prices are outrageous). But so far I'm very pleased.

Great handling, 30 mpg highway, 25 in town. I love the ride and all the goodies included with the car. Dealer service has been great. For what I consider a compromise semi-economy car, this was a good buy. A very good all around sedan. It gives you a sporty feel in a family sedan. Very pleased with this purchase.
