2003 Honda Accord EX 4dr Sedan (2.4L 4cyl 5A)

After considering the Toyota Camry (no rear head room, Passat (great color selection but too small back seat), Nissan Altima and various others, we chose the Accord EX 4 cylinder. My wife and I love the car. I can't believe the amount of options you get for money. I read the post above and honestly can't ever see anyone giving a honest 3! You made a decision to spend $25k on a car that you didn't like? Hope you don't make such quick decisions on other important things! ;') Back to more positive things, for those of you that want true value in what you purchase..buy a Honda! No, I don't sell them, but wish I did. God Bless America

This car smells like rotten eggs all the time. Honda corporate denies there is a problem. One service writer at the dealer claimed that Honda knows what the problem is but doesn't want to fix it. She also said that this problem is common on 2003 4 cylinder models. The service manager told me I don't drive it hard enough. All I can say is it makes me sick and I'm about to see a doctor and get a lawyer.

I used to have a Honda Prelude and it was an awesome car till someone t-boned me forced to get a new car I went with Honda again. I love my Honda accord it has yet to give me problems and is so fun to drive. I would advise getting the v6 cause it has power I never knew the difference between a 4cyl and 6cyl now I know, and I will never get a 4 again. Great car!

This car was the first Honda for me. The negative first - styling is not exactly earth shattering. Very ordinary, very yesterday. The positives - power is amazing, the ride is very good. Turning radius is also good and both road and engine noise is down almost to Camry levels. Interior space appears to be cramped. Controls are as good as the Camry, options and features are slightly better though. For example, LX V6 comes with Traction control, side air bags and 5 speed automatic. ABS and anti- theft are standard in all Accords. Overall very happy with the Accord purchase, would rate it as high as the very impressive Camry!

emotion vs. practicality

I looked at the A4, G35, Altima, Passat & Accord. Loved the A4 styling but it was too pricey. G35 drove like an absolute dream but was also too pricey. Interior of the Altima looked/felt cheap. That left the Passat & Accord. I preferred the Passat; more European look & feel. There was/is nothing wrong w/ the Accord; lots of ower & an amazing array of standard features. It came down to emotions vs. practicality. Although the Passat was more fun to drive, it was about $3500 more than the Accord. So, I went with the Accord. The exterior styling has grown on me. I'm also saving $125 per month. I like that a lot!!

Best Car I've Owned

I owned multiple Hondas, then after a brief (and painfully expensive) experience with a VW, I came back to Honda again with the 2003 Accord Coupe. I haven't been disappointed. 98k miles later and only routine maintenance. Still have original rear brakes/rotors. Front brakes and tires changed at 70k. Headlamps burned out at 60k, but they only cost about $30 each to replace so no big deal. Dash panel went out after warranty expiration (I saw others mention the same thing), but it was replaced free of charge without issues. While it may seem that everyone and their brother has one of these, it's hard to argue with top-notch quality, along with performance, reliability, and good looks.

This car is awesome! From the heated leather seats (Great for Chicago winters!)and the dual climate control to the very informative and helpful Navigation system, I love spending time in the car! The 4dr-V6 is a powerful sporty ride without the small interior found in most coupe models. I originally wanted a 2 dr until I drove the 4dr Accord. The interior is roomy and comfortable. All around very happy with our decision to buy the 4dr EX V6 with Nav system.

Highly Reliable Honda Accord EX 4 Cyl

I love my 03 Honda Accord 2.4 cyl EX with leather. With 98,000 miles on it, this car continues to amaze me. The only non-standard repair involved the 6 CD changer/radio's electronic screen going blank and the dealer replaced the radio at no charge, even though it was out of warranty (this is a common problem I was told). My car averages 27+ MPG combined and on the highway, it easily exceeds 30 MPG. On my car, the maintenance items like the disc brakes have to replaced every 24,000 miles and the rotors roughly 50,000 miles. The tires on the back were the original tires until recently when I replaced all four tires. This time I'll rotate them, to get even wear.

A co-worker described it well when he got out after a ride and said, "if you were to put me in here blindfolded, I'd think I was in a luxury car." Drives and feels more like a luxury car than a family sedan ought to at this (or any) price. Car is smooth & quiet describes this car perfectly (no squeaks or rattles in my sample, at least.) Ergonomics are superb; interior layout & controls are clear, well placed, and provide good tactile feel. Drivetrain does an admirable job of hustling when you want it to, but never at the expense of ride quality. Dealer experience was great, pricing was more than fair.

After shopping for 4 months, I was ready to buy an Infinity G35 when I decided to test drive the new Honda. The build quality is great, handling is outstanding and the performance of the 4 cylinder is amazing. Having owned 2 other Honda's, the car seemed to "fit" better than the more expensive Infinity and the quality of interior of the Honda is much higher. It is not a sports sedan; however, it is a fun to drive family sedan...good job Honda.

Rides a little on the rough side, front cup holder is a joke and the Mercedes rear has to go. The Japanese have always been the best imitators and not innovators. With Honda just issuing an extended warranty on the transmission of the last generation Accord to avoid a recall, I don't know if I would trust these new tranny's yet. These are advertised at invoice in Detroit, so it may be worth a drive for you.

Originally, I was going to buy a Nissan Maxima GLE. However there was a problem in securing the car I wanted so I completely lost interest in the Maxima and the Nissan Dealer for that matter. In retrospect, I am glad I wasn't able to get the Maxima, because the 2003 Honda Accord EX V6 is everything I need - the power, the creature comfort, and luxury. Although the ride may not be as refined as the Maxima, everything else is if not better. I am most impressed with the construction of this car. It is pure quality.

Outside of this one problem, the 2003 Accord is Great. But 5-10 minutes into each trip it emits a horrible hydrogen sulfide smell. The dealer says there is nothing wrong w/ the car, but admits that others have had similar complaints. They basically told me that I will have the problem until they stop oxygenating (sic?) the gas. If you are sensitive to smells, don't buy this car until they have a solution.

I wanted a truck, but my budget wouldnt allow it. I wrecked my 95 Accord. Hated the car. Its a good car, its just a car. I like trucks, but my job requires I drive a car. (realtor) I reviewed the Camry. Great car. I drove the new Accord and fell in love. So smooth and quiet. Tons of room. Got a great deal. Its even fun to drive. And it moves. Its no race car, but I was going 100 mph without realizing it. You cant even feel the gears changing. Buy one. Now.

Just had the lights go out on the radio, Honda repaired free, good for 105 K miles or 7 years. Also got the wiper recall done. Trans recall was done at 24K. Only repairs were for brake disks which have been replaced 2 times for rear and once for front. Bought ceramic last time, hope they last more than 40K miles. Only other repair was for heated seat relay fixed under warranty. This is my 3rd Accord.

I just traded a 2001 3.2 CL for my new 2003 Accord. I had interior room issues with the CL, but the new Accord sedan has so much room. I've owned several Accords in the past, but this car is the best ever. Why would anyone want to buy an Acura TL when you get all the same amenities for less money. I have an Accord EX with leather and the 4 cylinder 160HP engine. This car has as much pep as my 6 cylinder 225HP Acura CL. I would advise you Aura owners to take a look at the new 2003 Accord.

I could not be happier with my new Honda Accord V6. This car is a complete overhall of the Accord and one won't be disappointed with what they've accomplished. They've provided more horse power without sacrificing fuel economy. The new dash board layout is very functional and user freindly. The transmission shifts very smoothly. There is also more space in this Honda Accord than previous models. If you're interested in an Accord, I recommend checking it out....I bet you'll end up with it in your driveway.

This 4 cyl LX is an amazing feat of engineering, economy (cost and fuel), and safety. Our test drives compared it to the Jetta Wagon, Mazda6, Forester, Camry, and Altima. The Accord was the clear winner in every consideration. Mazda6, Jetta, and Forester were close seconds, but were all at least $1K more. Perhaps I am biased (this is my 3rd Honda since 1989), but this car has been great.

The beautifully styled EX V6 6-speed coupe provides top-notch safety, excellent performance and tremendous value. After considering competing models from Audi, BMW, Nissan, Infiniti and VW -- most of which were rated less safe and reliable than the Accord -- it was a pleasure and relief to find the Accord. The power and handling are impressive, yet the car remains quiet and luxurious. The fit and finish are flawless.

Decided on the 2003 EX-6 after extensive comparison of Altima 3.5 and Maxima GLE. Altima maybe has a flashier look, but EX-6 beats it on handling and interior quality. Engine performance about the same. Plus ins. and walk out price lower for the Honda. I'm thinking resale will probably be higher too.

After waiting with anticipation for the new Accord to arrive I was not disappointed. Our last new accord was purchased in 1991 and currently has 195,000 miles and going strong. The new Honda has been elevated to a higher class car than in the past. Test drove the 160hp 4 cyl and found no need for the V6. Fell in love with the EX, Desert Mist with Leather. Added a wing and tinted the windows, SHARP !!! Son now drives the 91, Daughter drives a 97 Civic EX and now the new 2003. OK, OK so we're hooked on Hondas. Looking forward to many years of fun from this one. Go buy one, you'll get hooked too.

My wife and I have test driven all three. Before the test drives we were set on the Camry. Now the Altima and Camry are not even blips on our radar. The 2003 Accord is far and away the best of the three. The performance, amenities, and look are all perfectly balanced. The Camry has reliability, but nothing else that stands up and grabs your attention. The Altima has power and looks, but the interior is weak. The Accord has perfected the balance of all three major features.

I previously owned a 96’ Passat. Once it reached 100k miles, it seemed that any little thing that could go wrong did… except for the engine. I chose the 03’ Accord over the Passat primarily for reliability. Of course, if it were not for the new body style I would have never considered the car. I’ve had the car for almost two weeks and enjoying it very much.

Got this car to replace wife's 92 Taurus LX w/160k miles on it. She, being smaller, loves the interior. I find the console too close to my right leg when driving. mpressions are good with quite, smooth acceleration catches you offguard when you're doing 85 when you thought you were at 55. Tires thump a little on rough roads but the ride is very enjoyable. Handling is great but the tires start to squeal when the turns get tight. I rate the interior material, fit and finish to be excellent. The instrumentation layout is excellent but I think just three simple knobs could better replace the long lineup of buttons for the vent controls. Overall - a keeper!

Loaded with features comparible to luxury sedans. We had driven an audi A4 earlier this week as well and enjoyed the honda just as much. We also negotiated a great price (not far above invoice).

Just got my car a couple of days ago and I love it. The all around appearance of the car is impressive. Nice amount of power for a four cylinder. Love the stereo controls and the sunroof.

I am a student and the main reason I got this car is because I dont have the time to run to the garage (with a domestic) everytime there is a problem. I know Honda has a long standing history of reliability and so this was the best choice. I love the V6 and the 5 speed A/T, makes driving around a truly gratifying experience. If you want a mid-size sedan look no further.
