Used 2002 Honda Accord Coupe Consumer Reviews
Cracked engine block
For the past 15 years, Ive been a fan of Honda. In 2001, I bought a brand new Honda Accord and took meticulous care of the car. While there were moments of spirited driving, there was never any abuse of the engine. After just 103,000 miles, the vehicle was diagnosed with a cracked engine block. Honda initially refused to participate in any repairs. However, after extensive discussions with Honda, they offered 1,500 in a 7,000 repair. Needless to say, for a car thats supposedly legendary in terms of reliability, Im disappointed in the quality of the car and Hondas response. Given the poor quality of the product and the lack of customer service, I will never buy a Honda again.
77K Dealer Maintained, Bad Transmission
Clearly this model's transmission has a design flaw. So many transmission failures at 70k mileage. I used to believe that people can drive a Honda and not worry about any major problem before 100K. It's certainly not the case for us, though our Accord has always been dealership maintained. My Honda dealer first asked us to spend nearly $1k to replace two broken engine mounts, then told us the transmission still needs to be replaced, and would cost another $4,6K, which is comparable to the kbb's used car price. It's a class action law suit waiting to happen. I think we've got enough people just from this review page. Honda, please take this issue seriously, don't try to hide from it.

Hot car, Great Ride
I love this car, bought it with 30K miles on it in 2005, now at 75K, three years later. This car has not given me ANY problems at all. I have it serviced regularly. I've gone through one set of tires and one battery. It is fun to drive, love the V-6 power. It looks brand new after a good car wash and I get compliments on it all the time. This is the best body style Honda has ever had. I will be sad to see the day I have to put the old girl down.
I Like This Car
The Accord has been known for its reliability over the course of many years. Prior to owning this new one, my parents owned an accord from 86-96 without any problems at all, which i took into consideration when i purchased my own. The build is tight and refined, the interior clean and smooth, and the acceleration and braking extremely responsive. The coupe is especially roomier than i expected it to be with its smooth and subtle leather. Very nice ride as well, which is also important...
Don't do it!!!
#8 on my list BUT I fell for Honda's aggressive lease program and to save a few bucks, I signed. I've been sorry ever since. Gas mileage (15-18 city) SUX! The ride is EXTREMELY rough! Sunroof opens halfway. Loose screws and rattles found everywhere. A slug could beat this 'car' from a dead stop.
