Wag On!

This Honda Accord EX Wagon was my first brand new car and the last wagon in the dealership showroom. Almost eight years and 83500 miles later, it is still as reliable as the day we bought it. Absolutely no issues, save for the sluggish driver side power window. A recent tune up has made the ride and drive like brand new again. I've since bought a Toyota Sequoia and a Lexus LS400 but the wagon is still my daily driver and will likely remain so for years to come.

The Little Time Capsule That Could..

I havent owned the car for too long. Hasnt even been 2 years yet but ive fallen in love with my accord from how smooth it drives, the space it offers me, and what surprises most people when i say i love the simplicity. Im 21 and not many can live without all of the fancy gadgets and accessories the newer cars come with. Ive had more then a handful of friends call it a granny wagon or say its a P.O.S .. laughing at the stock height or its hubcaps. Id open all the doors and show them how well preserved the interior was, no cracked or faded dash, no stains in any of the seats or floor (all thanks to the previous owner who was only owner before me) i even took some of her rules with me. No eating in the car and definitely NO smoking. Ive never had any problems with the car or bad experiences. I will never get rid of my wagon. Any problems pop up in the future its gonna get taken care of. Sucks to know that there are so many discontinued parts. All the more reason to take care of it. I have so much more to say about the 97 accord but ill end it here. Been a while but updating this review, car now has 251k miles and is due for its next oil change at 252. Car has still proven strong.. only thing I can think of as far as problems is having replaced a broken door handle, which was fixed the very next day. My goal with this car is to see if I can reach 500k miles before anything major has to be done. I know it will come eventually.

Vonda the Honda Accord Wagon

I’m the one owner of my 1997 Accord wagon in Bordeaux Red. I drove it to schools about 70 miles away, on country roads. At 200 K (in 2007), I replaced belts and hoses; now at 250 she is still a honey car, loved and maintained. I installed a good sound system, too.

Bought with 9K miles after searching for 2 mo (5spd was hard to find). This is easily the most reliable vehicle I have ever had. Engine holding up well despite my frequent visits to redline and beyond. Fun to drive. Generally very happy with this car, but could use more power.

Bad MPG, Reliable But Way Overrated

After searching for over a year, I finally sold my beloved Dodge Caravan cause it only got 16 mpg overall and bought my '97 Accord EX Wagon thinking I'd be getting both economy and utility. Well I got the utility, but not the economy. My EX wagon (4 cyl VTEC) was woefully underpowered and got, at best, only 18 mpg combined. I'm very mechanical and know a lot about cars. I do not drive with a lead foot. I ran myself ragged for over a year taking the car to 3 or 4 mechanics (including the dealership) to try to remedy the problem. Everything's "normal" was what I was told. Fed up, I sold the car after 1 year of unsuccessfully trying to improve the mpg problem. Car had less than 50K.
