Can you say wow!!
Looked at Subaru Outback and Forrester as well as Ford Escape. None could compete with drive, feel or accessories of the GMC Terrain. Almost didn't look at the Terrain but glad I did because I fell in love with it once I drove it. Good acceleration, smooth transmission, great accessories, even the red trim lighting isn't as bad as people make it out to be especially if you use the dimming knob. Have had the car 3 weeks now and have loved every minute of driving the vehicle. The key now is reliability. Will check back in when I have full year under my belt.
I love this vehicle
I love the looks inside and out/classy. I love the comfort and the ride. I love the color. I was driving a jacked up Jeep Wrangler (which I also loved in a different way) and prior to that I had four Outbacks (which I also loved). This is my favorite. We traded a Lexus IS which is a classy smooth ride and this car is as classy inside. I am pleasantly surprised - wanted another Outback to haul my son to ski practice and races in, and my husband suggested this or the Buick Enclave. I was cynical until I looked at it and drove it. Now I can't stay out of the garage and my husband and son keep finding me hanging out inside. It is just beautiful. Just simply classy. Love it.

Loved it till recently
My husband and I ordered my Terrain and could not wait to get it! When it first arrived it was amazing to drive. There is plenty of room for a smaller SUV! We got tons of compliments on the looks both inside and out. I loved driving it. After about 2 weeks I was driving and the gears went out and I could not do anything but put the car in park. It ended up that the oil pump inside the transmission broke. On a brand new car! Not very reassuring! However we are hoping this will be one of our only problems, we still love driving it.
GMC Terrain SLE2
I purchased my Terrain on Jan 30th 2010. I love the design and style. This is my first 2.4 vehicle in a long time. The ride is smooth and quite. A lot more room than the RAV4 or Chevy equinox. The doors open wide for easy access for people who have back problems and the seats are very comfortable with the heated seats. We love the color mocha steel and it is classy. The package is great with all the options. We have a sunroof and upgrade package on the seats. We first saw this car on a TV show called "Medium" where it was introduced. The style of the grill in front was eye catching. Have not checked the mileage yet. Very happy customer.
I love this vehicle
We bought a SLT-2 v6 and we couldn't be happier with it. We shopped around for a while before we settled on this one. We looked at a dodge Journey (not impressed at all) a buick enclave (way to pricey)a Ford Escape ( nice but didn't have the features that the terrain has) and a Chevy Equinox ( also nice but compared to the the terrain it just felt cheap). No one could match the quality, price, warranty, and EMG of the Terrain.
V6 SLT-1 AWD
This car is by far the best vehicle i have driven. I am 19 years old and was lucky enough to drive my parents h3. It was very nice, but the interior and engine power was really lacking in quality. The interior was alright, but compared to this beautiful brownstone leather with the red trim, it doesn't compare. The V6 is slow in first, but really speeds up in the other gears. (Most likely for fuel efficiency.) Love this car. As for either the ecotech or v6, i had to get the v6 with the hills, I really enjoy the ride. If you don't have hills, you can get away with the ecotech. I am definitely a lead foot driver (college student) and get 17 city and somehow 26 on the highway! Camera is great
Very Bad Quality
The transmission oil leaking on the brand new Terrain, it has only 120 Km. The antenna is 12 inch long, I can not get it into my garage.
Back w/GM after 5 yrs in Toyota wilderness
OK, we've got a Highlander which is OK but boring & a Prius which we hated (gets 45 MPG but does nothing else well). HAD to trade it before another winter parking it in garage for fear of sliding off roads! So shopped domestic & import sedans, went into GMC-Buick dealer on a whim to check out a gorgeous but pricy LaCrosse. Wandered across the showroom & sat in the GMC Terrain, the wife fell in love! Great/flexible seating position, VERY comfortable seats, nicely equipped base model, attractive interior, plus STUDLY exterior styling which is the polar opposite of the weeny Prius. Have 1200 miles and getting great MPG: 26 city / 31 hwy. Drives solid as a rock. No wimpy RAV4 or CRV for me!!
Where's my old suv?
If I had it to do all over again I would never have traded my envoy, the get up an go of the terrain has never got up to my expectations I had a 8 cyl and now have a 6 cyl. No power! And gas is no better than my 8 cyl. Anyone thinking about buying a terrain think twice! I've never been as unhappy as now, so if you see my 2005 envoy, please tell it to come back home!
6 Month Follow-Up
I've now driven my Terrain about 8500 miles, and I have had no problems whatsoever. I can get 32 MPG on highway trips with regular 87 octane gas when I try (real calculated value, not just what the onboard computer states - although it agrees), but I average about 26 MPG on mixed daily commute of about 40 miles. For do-it-yourselfers who change your own oil, be advised you will need a special low-profile socket (about $5.00 online order). The cartridge oil filter is for agile, small hands but manageable. Ride and handling undiminished over the first 6 months. Runs like a top, but it's not a muscle car. With four adult passengers, you can notice the change in shifting points.
Great Auto
I have driven this Terrain 8000 miles and enjoyed every mile. I have had Park avenues GMC Trucks Olds bravada Roadmasters . This is by far the most enjoyable auto I have ever had. I suspect the folks that are complaining about the mileage have a heavy foot and just want to complain about something so they don't have to take responsibility for the mileage. I have driven through the smokies with this auto and the 4 cylinder has performed well. I have learned how to use the manual shift which helps greatly in mountains and in the city.I always limit the the trans to 5th gear in the city and do the same in the mountains This is a great vehicle and I think Gm is building some great products
SLE2 FWD
Extremely smooth and quiet. Previously owned a 2door Honda Civic. I needed an SUV, but wanted the best gas mileage. After 3 months, 6500 miles, mostly city driving, I've averaged 22 MPG. I've done some long road trips, which have not averaged above 27 MPG. I don't count on the dashboard fuel economy- I record and do my own calculating. Even though the mileage seems low on the highway, I am extremely satisfied with the city, which is the main driving for the car anyway.
It is a great ride
My wife has a bad back. It is the best car-SUV for her to get in and out of. Great job. Thanks
Broke right from the start
We orderd the car so it would be to our specs. When it arrived after a wait of 90 days it was what we expected On the way home we recognized a loud wind noise from the sunroof. After getting home and inspecting the sunroofwe see it was not fit right. In fact if we would left it that way water would be entering the car on a rainy day. Next day we went to the dealer and he tried to fix the problem. That did not work and he immideatly ordered the parts to fix it.That was on April 15th on to this day ( May 14th) the parts are not available to the dealer. He would like to fix my problem but GMC rather sells cars than fixing their mistakes.Really? Might be the last GM product i buy.
Love Our Terrain!
When I first saw the new Terrains I absolutely hated the design. We looked for three months and since I would be the primary driver, it was my choice. It came down to a Terrain, an Equinox, or a Kia Sorento. I grew to appreciate the design and after driving it for the weekend, bought it on Monday! We have found not one thing to complain about and we both absolutely love it! We bought the AWD since we live in the country. Gas mileage is good and it is loaded with great options! Great job GMC!
LUV IT
I absolutely love my Terrain. It has all the options of a luxury vehicle, but I got the 4 cyl and was able to afford all the plush options. It is beautiful....the 4 cyl is great for my driving around town 5000 miles per yr. I LOVE IT! It is beautiful!
Awesome
We now have about 750 miles on the vehicle and it is everything we expected. Great sound system, quiet, fun to drive, and comfortable as well as stylish interior. We did a lot of research on the vehicle before we purchased it and it has met our expectations.
Nicest vehicle I ever bought!
I bought my Onyx Black 2010 GMC Terrain on New Years Eve 2009. I wanted a small SUV with lots of room. I have a champagne taste with a beer pocket book! I researched vehicles for 3 months. I saw this SUV on the Ellen Degeneres Show and fell in love! I had to go to a dealer 100 miles away to find one because no local dealers had any. I have the basic model, as I only drive 2 miles to work and don't need a 4 wheel drive. The standard features alone are incredible, more than any other SUV I looked at! The interior and exterior are beautiful, the ride is fabulous. A tank of gas lasts me two weeks! Never thought I would use the back up camera, but can't live without it! I could go on and on!
New family ride
After looking and driving many cars I saw this vehicle on the gmc lot after fist test drive I was very impressed. Went out a talked to some honest mechanics I know they told me that gm basically makes the best vehicles on the road today and they really have out done them selves on this chassis design so without hesitation I bought this car
2 Adults/no kids
Waited 5 weeks to get an SLT-2 with a 6 cylinder and MSRP of $31,495 for my wife. Traded a Honda CRV and this beats it so far. It's small and simple like the CRV but the ride quality is far superior. With the back seat pushed forward (that's the way my dog likes it) the cargo area is bigger than the specs make it seem. This may seem crazy but I drive a 6 cylinder Porsche Cayenne and the Terrain, while not handling as nifty as the Porsche, has a ride quality and practicality that actually make it the vehicle of choice for driving excursions out of town. So far, I think GMC has hit a home run with this.
Poor gas mileage
Have less than 2000 miles on vehicle. Gas mileage not even close to rated numbers. Reported to dealer and all I get is this "Use the SAME pump at the SAME station with vehicle pointing in the SAME direction with the SAME number of people in vehicle". Is this a crop or what. Here are numbers: Hiway driving (cruise set at 60 MPH) 141.7 mile trip used 9 gallons (thats 15.75 MPG period) City driving 140.2 miles (normal stop and go traffice) with 9 gallons to fill back up (that's 15.58 MPG PERIOD) Dealer says this is not true mileage as there are possiable BUBBLES in tank while filling are fuel pumps regulated and must deliver what is metered out? Instruments say 17 MPG on console
GMC Terrain - Buyer Beware!
Why buy a Terrain? For me it was the promise of best in class highway fuel economy, rated at 32 mpg with the 4 cylinder. Took delivery of my SLT Terrain last December and now have around 7200 miles on the vehicle. My average highway mpg: 25.1! Well says GM, your mileage may vary. OK I get that. But in every case I've driven pure highway (Interstate) miles, I've used cruise control and driven at or below the posted speed limit (sometimes 60, never more than 70). So GM exactly what am I doing wrong? To put in mildly, I'm disgusted with GM and the vehicle after initially loving it. If considering the 4 cyl, do yourself a favor and look at the 6. Or better yet, buy and import!
Great Car Love my Terrain
Just Traded in my 2001 Jeep Cheeroke with 92000 Miles Hated to see it go but Wow this car is simply Amazing. I love everytime I get in the car and do not want to leave. IT drives very smoothly and I feel I am in a Escalade but for half the price. GMC built a great car inside and out. I have had this car for only about 3 days and people still ask me wow whats that. Just wish more were around.
SLT 2 6 Cyl Terrain
When I went shopping for a new SUV, the Terrain had so many more features then the rest of the pack, that the purchase was a no brainer. I like that the navigation system is constantly updated and no disc is required. The car is quiet and feels solid. No rattles or noises at all. The interior leather and plastics are well done and of much higher quality then the GMs of the past.
Maybe the Ride with Improve with Time
Traded in '07 GMC Yukon XL. Wanted something to fit in my garage year round -- i.e. a big downsizing move. No need to look for small SUV's - most competing dealers would have lauged me off their lots. Got $1000 for loyalty. 14.2 mpg on first tank. The V6 - 19" chrome wheels make ride way too stiff.
2010 Terrain with V6 AWD
This is quite simple, drive it then buy it. This is an extra vehicle in our household. We could afford to buy almost anything on wheels but decided on this because of the styling, ride etc. GM surpassed my expectations. Why couldn't GM have built these type of vehicles years ago??
Love our Terrain
I'll start out by saying my only complaint with our Terrain is the turning radius isn't that great. It doesn't always bother you but on making u turns you sometimes have to back up if the road isnt wide. Other than that we LOVE our Terrain. I read someone said it took 3 hours for onstar to get someone to them. IT probably took 3 hours for whomever was coming but be happy onstar was there. Ive had to use onstar several times and in a accident. That voice coming over automatically telling me help is on the way and I don't have to look for a cell which mine was broken. Its awesome to know my car will help me if needed. I love the comfort, the looks. I have people all the time stop me to say its nice!!
Gm's finest!
I love this vehicle, better than any other car that i have ever owned!
Would not buy again.
We liked the idea of 32 MPG highway but it has fallen far short of that. We are only getting about 25-26 MPG on the highway. We mostly drive about 68 mph with cruise control. GMC should be charged with false advertising. We took it into the dealer, Dick Norris of Clearwater, Florida and they supposedly checked it out on the "Computer" and found nothing wrong. We have already told everybody that asks about the Terrain and we mentioned the gas mileage problem to all of them. We are now stuck with this "Lemon" for three years and will never buy another GMC product. Sorry, but just telling the truth.
Can't wait to pick up my new car!
My family is picking up our 2010 GMC Terrain on Monday (tomorrow) and we are SO excited! It is actually used with 30,000 miles but its new to us! We took the car for almost an entire day last week (my very close friend is the manager of the dealership) and absolutely loved it. I drive a 2008 Tahoe for work and just can't imagine spending that kind of money on gas considering how much city driving I do. I love love love the interior and exterior styling of the Terrain. I agree with the "numb steering" feel, but I'm used to it from the Tahoe. We were impressed with the gas mileage, but long term remains to be seen. We were in the market for a 4cyl SUV and this one fit the bill!
I love my new Terrain
I've had the Terrain for 3 weeks and I have driven it about 2000 miles. I love just about everything about it. Styling, comfort, standard features, fuel economy are all tops. Coming from my Buick, the 4 cylinder engine feels a little sluggish at the starting line, but it does fine on the highway. I was also very pleased when I checked the mileage with the last 2 fill-ups and average mileage was 28.7 mpg. I have the base model, but it's packed with about every feature I would want and then some. The standard sound system is great. I have rented the RAV4 and the Tuscon and have an Escape at work. I would definitely recommend the Terrain. GMC has definitely put themselves out front with this model
New car 3 weeks old
I love It!! GM Needs to hype it more! I would be glad to be the spokesman I drive round trip about 80 miles per day. So far an awesome car! Very spacious & comfortable.
Its worth the look
I have had my terrain for a week 4 cylinder has great power trans shifts great.1st tank 22.5 city and highway. 2nd tank averaged 26. Pleasantly surprised with the quality after being in a bmw for years gm has really stepped up their game!
Great vehicle, Impressively Roomy
I had been looking at Compact SUVs and a variety of cars for a few years now, and finally settled in on the Terrain. I'm a bigger guy, 6' 4", 290lbs, and I was amazed by how comfortable I am in the car. I could actually stand to put the front seat up a little bit from the farthest back it goes. Passengers were impressed with the room in the back seat as well. The amenities are very nice in the car, and works out to be better pricing than to try to get a feature-heavy Equinox. The 4 cylinder engine carries itself well. You won't confuse it with a Camaro, but it does good with acceleration and I have no complaints. Overall, I'm very happy with the purchase--great job GM!
Great car so far
Good car so far, hope it holds up
Loving it!
Traded in 2005 Cadillac CTS -- Terrain runs "rings" around comfort; smoother more quiet ride; and 4 cyl. feels like 6 or above. This is my "dream" vehicle and I'm very happy. Also have 2003 Chevy Venture and this is much smoother and more stable. XOXOXOX
Great vehicle
I purchased a Terrain after looking at the Chev Equinox. My wife and I decided on the Terrain because we could get the options we wanted for less than the other. It's been a great vehicle. Wonderful interior and I love the exterior styling. I would recommend it to anyone.
Terrain
Purchased my Terrain very end of Jan. Currently have 1400 miles. I do feel that transmission shifting that others have spoken about. Took some getting use too. It definately won't win any awards for being fast to accelerate from a dead stop. The ride is wonderful coming from a Honda Element, its like heaven. Nice smooth ride, quiet cabin. No problems thus far. Haven't had a chance to test it out in the snow. I hope it's as good as the Element was.
Don'tbuyone!!!
I am disappointed and I feel serious buyers remorse. Had to take it to the dealers twice already. Rides rough and hard to keep in lane. Phone has hollow sound and people ask was that star trac when first starting. Fuel economy - lies - just plain lies, yes I have complain, no response back NEVER - 32mpg.the car on highway at 55mph will only get 25.3 far cry from 32. Next time GMC wants to BK, they can go chapter 7. I don't want to bail them out they are like a bad family member that keeps borrowing money, if you know what I mean
Fantastic!!!!
We just got home with our new Terrain. We looked at Yukons and Enclaves. We had a Yukon Denali and LOVED IT!!!!!!! This little suv is the little engine that could and DOES! It has stylish looks, a bit agressive. Love the electronics! Wish it had cooled seats like the Enclave and other siblings! We could have spent alot more there was no point. It also has the power to tow our sea doo. Nav system is cool! LOVE IT!
Great Bailout Plan!
Enjoy this truck, despite having used a p/u for most of my driving life. With this truck, I get out, not climb up&out. Has a decent traffic presence and forward view. I've had this Jimmy for 2 weeks and have 2600 miles, driving 4 hrs/200 m round trip while getting 28mpg. Adequate power for hills and stop lights and great brakes. Overall happy with this truck. Hard to keep my wife out of driver's seat! Complaints? The climate control won't settle on heat or cooling; it overcompensates (due to cabin t-stat location?). At 6', 238, I find the seat way too narrow for extended comfort; the lower seatback seems non- existent, causing a slumped posture. Very intrusive blind-spots!
roomy option with good mileage
replaced beloved Mazda 3. Needed more room for growing teenage boys. Like the interior, sound system, ride and handling. Looked at many makes and models, thought I wanted an Equinox, but dealer got in this Terrain with the features I wanted...absolutely love it!
LOVE our terrain
We have owned our Terrain for about 4 months nowe and LOVE it. The only thing I can say I dont like is I wish it had a better turning radius. Thats it! We got a loaded slt v6. It has good pick up and handles great on the highway. Its comfortable and fun to drive. I just dropve from Atlanta to Phoenix and love the technology. LOVE onstar. Love the weather downloads and traffic info that is avail thru xm radio. It helped alot with all the snow. You feel safe in it and it has plenty of room if you dont like huge suv's. We have friends who bought toyotas and for what they paid for a strip down rav we got loaded! Our Gmc will go just as long. Thank you GMC we are gm owners for life!!!!!
not happy
I bought a Terrain based on the advertised 32 highway mpg. I do all highway driving and I haven't even gotten remotely close to the 32. I have seen tanks with 22, 23 and 24 mpg. Not happy. Other than the gas mileage I love it. It has lots of leg room for the rearseat passengers. I like that the rear seat slides up and back.
2010 GMC Terrain SLE-1 4cyl FWD
I've had it for three weeks, and have no complaints; it's exactly what I expected based on reviews and research. During this 3 week time, we've had two major (20"+) snowstorms, and the handling was fine on snow covered roads. It doesn't go through and over snow like a sno-cat, but it handles well enough; starting and stopping well while driving sensibly. With the smaller engine, it's no powerhouse, but it's more than adequate; getting all of its rated mileages both highway and city. Dry road handling is much more like a larger car, but with the advantages of a smaller one. It's quiet and smooth, feeling like a high-end Yukon, but much more nimble and agile.
Worth a look
My wife and I stumbled across this vehicle. Had problems with previous SUV, came home on a weekend from military duty and bought the Terrain. We needed a car right then. Wanted a Hybrid for mileage purpose; however, dealer said we would not be disappointed, and they were right. Nice ride, comfortable, quiet, you need to upgrade from base model to really get the true vehicle. Price is right, especially for the size and mileage. Got the SLT and it has all the options we were looking for.
SLE 2
I tried to fight off purchasing a new vehicle, but saw the Terrain on the road and loved it. I thought it would be bad on gas, actually gets better mileage than my Saturn I traded, and has much more room. I like it that it can tow my motorcycle or my fishing boat. Last but not least, I get more compliments on this vehicle than any other I have purchased. I seriously was giving up on GM after they dropped Oldsmobile,Saturn and Pontiac, 3 of my last four vehicles. But they hooked me with this dang Terrain and saved a customer. Keep up the good work and Ill stay a customer.
Bold -- Right for the times
I did tons of research on all competitors for at least four months before my Envoy lease was up. Drove them all and settled on purchasing (owning)the Terrain. I chose the AWD 4cyl leather seats SLT-1 model. More bang for the buck. Good gas mileage and very comfortable interior. All the Tech stuff is neat. I love the bold/mean exterior look. The vehicle has swagger! My hats off to GMC for building top quality into their vehicles now. I rate the car a No.10. Fit and finish good. The only thing I don't get is why with all the tech stuff built in why GM didn't include a garage door opener. Doesn't make sense. Other than that the SUV is a perfect fit for me.
rear entertainment system
I Love My Terrain. It drives very well and the gas mileage is excellent. What disappoints me is that the rear entertainment system is not being sold. The Terrain is being advertised on television and the brochure states the vehicle has that option, but I when contacted someone at the 1-800 number, I was informed that that option is not available. Why advertise something that doesn't exist? If it is forthcoming, then state that in the advertisement. I am very disappointed, but overall, I Love My Terrain.
Nice Vehicle HWY Mileage Disappointing
We have had our Terrain for about six weeks and have just over 2000 miles. We got the Terrain over the Equinox because my wife liked the styling better. We ordered a 4 cylinder because of the calimed fuel economy. Overall the vehicle is great but after taking two road trips we have averaged only 22-23 mpg with very conservative driving. Around town we are getting from 20 - 22 mpg. Otherwise the vehicle drives well and is maneuverable and is a vast improvement over the Torrent. My wife is very happy with it. If our mileage continues to disappoint I will regret not getting a V6. I'm hoping the mileage improves with break in and after the first oil change.
