2023 Genesis GV70 Review

The still-has-the-new-car-smell compact SUV from the luxury brand offshoot of Hyundai. It impressed us enough on its debut for the 2022 model year to earn Edmunds Top Rated Luxury SUV honors and, despite the expectation the GV70 will be relatively unchanged, we expect it will be a contender for top honors again for 2023.

That speaks to the overall impression the GV70 left us with. It's a vehicle that costs thousands of dollars less than its competitors, namely the Mercedes-Benz GLC and BMW X3 and Audi Q5, but never feels cheap. The cabin feels like a luxurious space and that's matched with a comfortable and, at times, exhilarating driving experience. Genesis is also expanding its electric offerings with the upcoming Electrified GV70, which will join the existing GV60 subcompact SUV and Electrified G80 sedan.

The Genesis GV70 proved itself a worthy contender in the luxury SUV category in its debut year, taking on the likes of Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Audi with aplomb. We're all looking forward to what Genesis has in store for a second act.
