Beautiful and fun car marred by gaskets

My very first car, and I loved her. Excellent slow speed handling and turning radius. Quick off the line but slow to 60. Wobbly on the highway. Had the notorious head gasket failure at around 70k miles. Otherwise, just minor sensor issues and a leaky radiator.

I bought mine used with over 100k miles and I really enjoyed that car it was just a nice driving nice looking car I would have kept it for many many years except the transmission went out. Which I thought okay so put a new trans in it....well that industry is so (or was at least) SO corrupt it is sickening I must have called every transmission shop anywhere near my home just to simply get a worst case scenario price on getting a transmission....not one single shop would give me that price which is hard to believe but true...ALL OF EM had ONE single way of doing business....they pull your transmission out and take it apart and then get you to agree to time and material to rebuild it....basically you write them a blank check pretty much. I literally BEGGED them saying LOOK what is worst case scenario? Even if you have to just get me another used transmission and stick that in my car? Or replace everything that normally might need replacing....GIVE ME a number! Nope not even a HINT....Well thatsent be up a wall and out of my MIND LOL!....I could get a price on a rebuilt engine installed no problem but NOT a transmission?? Seriously// I could get a price and a whole new cooling system problem...or a new differential or rebuilt price quoted to the penny but NOT a transmission?? So that is why I hate these old cars....the transmissions are financial bombs waitingtoexplode...idk maybe there are by now companies offering rebuilt guaranteed transmissions but not back then! I had a friend the transmission shop literally charged more than the entire Toyota mini van was even worth! But they got it apart got him to sign sh!t and start paying for parts until it was close to $20k as I recall for amino van there was no way in hell he could sell for that....so he was going to just keep it but the trans after all that money started going wonky again so he wound up donating it....There was NO WAY anyone was doing THAT to me....Unless a model has collector value they are a total crapshoot when it comes to things like transmissions....there are some truly wonderful Porsche models you literally can not justify repairing if the trans or motor fails as either is more money than the car is worth
