2013 Ford SHO Owned 9 Months 20K Miles
The car is great, it has great power its fun to drive for such a large car. The power it has is just amazing pulling away from a dead stop and watching traffic disappear behind you is just fun. The stability is just wonderful on the road. Great sales car. The My Ford Touch is a nightmare, navigation, Phone connection works sometimes (iPhone 4) the phone is not the problem I have heard every excuse from the dealer, software always, bluetooth audio sometimes works, screen blacking out. It goes to the dealer one more time tomorrow, this distraction is going to cause an accident, next step is the state attorney general. I have had it.
First Ford...
Never owned a Ford product before.. and the SHO was an excellent first car. I'm ever impressed by the refined engine and AWD system. It provides effortless power all the time. This is a HUGE car and drives like it. In a straight line, no problem...but when you push it in the corners or try to make extreme corrections, the car LOUDLY complains. Build quality is lacking in a few spots (center console, a few attached body pieces that have come loose), but overall has been very good. Discounts abounded when I leased my SHO, along with 0% interest, made getting this car no-brainer.
Ecoboost is crap!
Water pump failed at 69k miles. 9k out of warranty. Ecoboost water pump replacement is a minimum of 2500$! Climate control seats control module also failed. Low coolant sensors also failed, which caused car to overheat and require towing. Constant brake issues also. Do not recommend this car or any Ford!

A beast that glides
The sho is a hidden gem of engineering. It's beautiful inside and out with more features than you really need. It was built to compete with higher end European performance cars like Audi and BMW and it shows. The car accelerates effortlessly and the ride is smooth. Combining for a sensation of gliding down the road and through corners on its all wheel drive, sport tuned suspension. I've had no mechanical issues through three years and roughly 40k miles other than a recalled fuel pump. So far I'd say it's built with quality. I would recommend this car to anyone willing to put gas mileage on the back burner.

Fast Fun In A Fierce Family Car
Jan 2020 Still love this car. Disappointed at Ford's decision to do away with the car line and focus on SUVs, crossovers, and trucks only. I'd buy another Taurus SHO if they changed the body style, but that won't happen with this decision. I have noticed a few little things that tend to be a bother now that I'm fastening my grandkids into their carseats. The metal hooks that are for securing the carseats to the car seats (got that?) are not positioned well. The one closest to the door are about 1/3 of the way into the seat. The second one is where the seat belt receiver is located (which is normal). This makes the child carseat shift toward the center of the car. This eliminates the chance for anyone except the thinnest of people to sit between the 2 carseats we have to use making the SHO a 4 passenger car. The other issue I've had to deal with is the malfunction of the reverse monitor. Occasionally, it works perfectly. 90% of the time, it either goes blank and tells me to have it serviced or the screen is blurred or the images on the screen are upside down. That's frustrating. I checked with the dealer and they say replacing it is the best option as the cost of chasing an electrical issue can be very high. Have fought through it as this is the first car we owned that actually has a monitor like this. All things considered, I'm still very pleased with my purchase over 7 years later! Spring 2017 Punching the accelerator is a temptation every time I get behind the wheel of this beast. I know...beast?? For a sedan, the SHO kicks major butt! I've had this car for 4-1/2 years now and I still get excited when I drop my foot on the pedal! The 3.5 liter engine is no stranger to quick starts and the car does a great job of holding the road around the curves of the windy roads of WV. 365 horsepower can go a long way to making a 4 door family car fun! I've had little to no mechanical issues, but have worn through several sets of tires thanks to the WV roads and my style of driving. Front seats are comfortable, but hold you. Sound system is above average (SiriusXM radio is a must for road warriors). Clear view of all the instrumentation. Would love to squeeze a few extra MPG, but again, my driving style puts me at about 13 city and 19 highway. Trunk is large and fits several suitcases or all the groceries easily. I get lots of compliments at gas stations about how good the car looks even at 4+ years old. Love the black painted rims which are unique to the SHO. If you're looking for a good used sporty car with 4 doors, this is a great choice! Make sure the previous owner isn't someone who drives like me, though! :)
