I can't believe I own a FORD
I have a 1996 Taurus Sedan. When I first got it, it had around 150K km. on it and it was running great. It's quite comfortable to drive and it feels roomy but doesn't appear too big on the outside. I have to say that the BRAKES are quite bad, it cost me quite a bit of money to have them all replaced because the car would shake so much (4 disc brakes). Now at 185 thousand kilometers I think the transmission is on its way out. It has trouble shifting when passing or going up hills.
Good Reliable Car
Overall I think it is a great car. I have basically had no problems with the car and it is very reliable. It has pretty good pick up for a 3.0L V-6. Great first car.

Best Car I've Ever Owned
My Taurus replaced a 1988 Honda Civic which was falling apart. I bought it used, and at 15,000 mi., the car was in excellent condition. I loved my Taurus since the day I got it, and it hasn't given me any major problems since. It has 57,000 mi. on it and it shifts beautifully. The only problem that I've had with the car is when a sensor and synthesizer went out in the engine. I had it fixed, and for $500, they made it run as good as new. Overall, I love the car, especially the design of it, which hides the fact that it is 8 years old. This is a high quality, low priced, fun to drive car that I would recommend to anyone.
Excellent and economic car
It's our 2nd Taurus and we think it's the best American car and could be competetive with the Japanese cars. Engine is very smooth, powerful and quiet. Brake reliable. Steering improved a lot. Exterior design is cute.
Love it
I bought my Taurus GL from a government auction. It had 45,000 mi on it. When I first bought it the radio lights didn't work. I got that fixed and ever since then the rear window defrost hasn't worked. I currently have 101,000 miles on it, and it appears that I will be replacing it soon as it was rear ended and I think they will total it. The only thing I don't like about it is that the miles to go isn't accurate and it is tied to the fuel gauge.
