Used 1997 Ford Mustang Consumer Reviews
Okay
Very fun to drive and love the look of this body style. Be careful when you get in the higher mileage. After 120,000 just about everything that can go wrong on a car went wrong on this. In the last year: transmission, clutch, mass airflow sensor, a/c clutch, alternator and hoses. And after all this I still don't trust the car, but that's what I expect from a Ford.
Great Car
If you keep up with the maintenance this car is great. Perfect for the performance-minded looking for a new toy. Overall good car.

Well worth the money for a first car!
I bought this car several months back with about 87k on it, and I'm already pushing 99k. Other than an issue with the electrical system due to chewed up battery terminals (a $6 fix), it has been one hell of a ride. I checked out camaros and a charger or two while I was searching, but every mustang I sat in just felt more comfortable, and even better I could actually see out of it. After a few bolt-on modifications it can turn some heads. I'm hard-pressed to say that I'll probably have at least a mustang in my garage at all times from now on. You only get one chance at a first car, and this nasty pony did the job!
Mustang Forever
The only car I ever wanted was a Mustang, sure test driving the Camaro Z28 was nice, and the older Corvette was a thrill, but it was not close to the Mustang me and my dad test drove, I knew right off, that was my car. I have never had any engine problems. I honestly beat the hell out of the car too. My next car will be in 2004 when the redesigned Mustang comes out. I could afford a Vette or BMW, but a Mustang is the only car i want to drive.
It's a good car
I purchased my mustang in 1999 used with only 7000 miles on it. Since I have put about 90000 miles on it. It has been a good car overall with a few problems. I am now on my third intake manifold but this problem is covered under recall for the next 7 years! I also go through tires on an annual basis, but with a Z rated tire that is bound to happen. I get about 18mpg around town and 22mpg on the highway.
