Used 2013 Ford Fusion S 4dr Sedan (2.5L 4cyl 6A) Consumer Reviews
Not a bad little 4-banger
First of all, this is a 4cyl, and it's going to shift like a 4cyl. The difference is in the EcoBoost engine. When getting on the highway, this thing really has a lot of pep and get-up-and-go. The ride is so comfortable I've had people say it rides like a Merc, very smooth, very nice. My one major complaint is with the SYNC and Bluetooth features. They're not 100% reliable and don't work properly all the time. Mine has a tendency to get "stuck" after reading a text message and I have to switch the radio on and off again to reset it. It doesn't always hear my voice properly when telling it simple stuff like, "call dad".... did you say, call vet? Call dad..... did you say, call Frank? I don't have a funny accent either... I speak perfect English. Defeats the purpose of hands-free when I have to stop and look at my phone to find the contact I want my car to call. Yes, we're spoiled, 5 years ago this didn't exist. The transmission sometimes has problems finding the right gear to sit in on inclines, but it's active assist on the descent saves your brakes and makes up for it. My husband is 6'1" and 250lbs, he fits in the front seats very comfortably, not so much in the back though. I feel bad when I have to stick him back there in favor of my mother. :) You can literally fit 9 bodies in the trunk, don't ask me how I know that. I'm not 100% comfortable with an electronic parking brake, if that's one thing I could change on this car, that would be priority.

Follow-up on gas milage after 1,000 miles
14.5mpg back and forth to work 1 1/2 miles each way. Down a hill there, up a hill back. Also, cold here, let car warm up until tach drops below 1,000 rpms before engaging transmission. 30's on back roads, and highway. Not unhappy with car, just surprised. Very satisfying car to drive. Beautiful to look at. Solid. Enjoyable. Engine winds out with a performance-oriented sound. Auto trans well suited to 2.5l engine. Winds out right to redline.

Terrible
I bought a ford fusion in July 3013, Brand new, off the lot. It drove well for the first month then started having problems. I had to have the driver module replaced, the fuel pump replaced twice and every time it gets cold the car breaks down. I got it fixed yesterday, drove it for abou8t 24 hours and it broke down again. It died in an intersection and would not start again. This is the fourth time Ive had this problem. It usually starts up again after trying several times to start it but lately it refuses. I hate this car. Im trading it in for a honda or something and I dont recommend ANYONE to EVER buy [non-permissible content removed] FORD FUSION.
FORD HAS A WINNER!
Traded my 2013 Nissan Altima which was an absolute piece of crap! The Fusion is as close to perfection as any car I've ever owned. Quiet, smooth, great all around. Absolutely no complaints and hoping it'll stay that way.
Major engine problems at only 70 thousand miles
Do NOT buy if you don’t want a money pit. Dealership was extremely unhelpful with most recent problems. My husband and I both own Ford 2013 Fusions. They are the 4 door Sedan 2.5L. Loved the car at first but at only 70,000 miles, his entire catalytic converter system went. It was covered under warranty because it was under 75,000 miles, but then my transmission went at only 89,000 miles and when I took it to the dealership they said my extended warranty that I had bought had expired at 75,000 miles so it wasn’t covered. My husband DIDNT BUY an extended warranty, and he had the same 75,000 miles warranty/coverage that I had without paying extra money each month for an “extended warranty”. $2800 later and a rebuilt transmission, my Ford is back at the transmission shop because after putting only 200 miles on it, I started to have the SAME transmission problems (car shifts super hard/hesitates/jumps when changing gears, shifts super hard into reverse, etc). We are a paycheck to paycheck family so this transmission fix alone completely depleted any savings we had and Ford is doing nothing about it even though after speaking with other owners and reading numerous reviews, this transmission problem is so common people have been asking for a recall for years. We will NEVER buy a Ford again and are disgusted. Trying to get rid of both cars ASAP for a Toyota or other make we can rely on. Very disappointed. Just wanted to warn everyone so you don’t end up in our situation; no money and no reliable vehicle. Update: Had to get rid of the car because they could not fix the transmission. My husband now has had his catalytic converter replaced for the FIFTH time and he only has 90,000 miles. A catalytic converter is supposed to last until 150,000 in most vehicles and replacing it FIVE TIMES is nearly unheard of, especially before it even hits 100,000. Our mechanic told us to get rid of the car ASAP; his niece also had the same make and model and had to take it back to the dealership repeatedly for them to tell her the vehicle had “internal engine issues” and they could not fix it or figure it out. We will NEVER buy another Ford ever again; you couldn’t even pay us to drive one at this point. They are nothing but a horrible headache and money pit.
