Great, Reliable Little Car
My focus was given to me as a gift for my 16th birthday. I obtained this car after the engine had blown up on the previous owner. I put a brand new engine in it and didn't have any more issues with the engine. I've driven it to high school, college, multiple nearby states and still use it daily for my commute to and from work at age 25. It drives great and has always had great gas mileage. It's no turbo engine and it isn't the fastest accelerating car by any means, but it has always been super reliable. The maintenance wasn't bad at all either. I've replaced the brake pads a couple times and the battery once. Near the beginning of owning this car, there was a weird thing where the shifting between Drive, Reverse, and Park broke and it wouldn't completely shift, but once I had it fixed I didn't have any more problems with it. Not going to lie, the radio started going out around 110,000 and the a/c went out around 120,000-130,000. However, the car is sitting at around 171,000 miles and still mechanically runs great. Although I've had it for almost 10 years and the car itself is almost 20 years old, it has been a great first car.

Fun little car, I must say.
I got the car about two years ago, from my aunt who is possibly the worst car owner on the planet. The car was broken down, barely running, dirty, everything was broken. I got my hands on it, and about 1300 dollars later, it was running good. The best part about this car is how fun it is to drive. I can take off faster than half of the cars my friends have. The car feels alive, you can feel it. I just wish it was a little bit better quality. The interior is nice, but cheap. You can tell. The outside is styled well, but it's also made with some cheap-looking parts. It also feels like it won't be running so good in a few years. Who knows, it might last me forever.
Ford Fool
I bought this new after having a great experience with a '93 Escort. There have been many recalls, transmission leak, ignition column broke, a hole in a PVC tube (at least this is what the dealer called it). Normally, I like to keep my vehicles for 100k miles, but it's broken down 3 times this year already. I will never buy a Ford again. The resale value is terrible too.
Focus on your lemon
8 recalls speak for themselves. Plus new tires every 38,000 miles. Car only gets 20 miles per gallon. With its size that's terrible. I am expecting 2 more recalls.
This car is a P.O.S.
Fuel pump has gone out more times than I can count. Electrical everything goes out more times than Heinz has ketchup...good luck to anyone who buys one of these damn things! Get a good warranty.
